Post counts are stored by the server, not the client. Changing browsers/platforms won't effect it. If you look at his 13 post history, 4 of said posts land in forums that specifically don't add to your post count (as listed here), leaving him with 9.

If someone had an answer for you, they would reply. Bumping your thread doesn't fix the fact no one knows enough to reply.

If it's anything like most hotel's I've been to that offer free wifi, it's nothing more than the room number or something else very simply guessed by anyone sitting in the parking lot.

You make it sound like owning a "Dell Precision M70" certifies you as a security expert. Even if it did have an "SN and pass", most (if not all) WiFi security protocols have already been cracked. First problem. It's a public hot spot. Anyone can use it, abuse it, and overload it with whatever crap they feel like, be they paying hotel guest or your local computer geek. There's nothing you can do about it. Second problem. It's a public hot spot. We can't help diagnose the problem because you and the rest of us don't have access to the wireless gear the hotel uses. Your laptop may be running perfectly and just getting stuck with crappy wireless hardware on the hotel side. Again, nothing you can do about it.

Myspace as a whole is a massive waste of server resources. :?

If everything had a point and click fix there wouldn't be a need for tech support. Some things are too intensive for a point and click fix too. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and ask someone. :P Google started out by giving their employees 5 invites each to send to anyone they wanted (usually family). Once that seed was planted it slowly spread and grew into what it is today. The load was light in the beginning for testing and such and then usage just exploded. People now have 100 invites each so it's extremely easy to get in. Google will also send invites out over SMS if you request one now.

Where the hell are you buying processors? You can pick up AMD x2's for $150 now and single cores for well under $100. Either way, it's irrelevant because we're talking about a laptop that can't be upgraded.

Surprised nobody noticed the nice little "Table" button on the options bar at the top. :P Under Table you can either "draw table" and drag it out, splitting cells to fit your use, or you can go down to "insert" (in the table menu) and "insert table", selecting the dimensions. Much easier than writing it in HTML.

The status windows showing 0 memory isn't the problem. If it had 0 memory you wouldn't have an image on the screen to reply with. :P Most on board chip sets don't have the capacity to render new 3d games no matter how much RAM you give it. That's just the nature of on board graphics unfortunately. If you do have an open slot inside your computer I'd definitely suggest spending some money on a decent video card. You can pick up cards that will play most new games on at least medium for ~$100 if you look around. :mrgreen:

Even though you have on board graphics, you can still upgrade with an external video card with a PCIe slot (or AGP for older computers and even regular PCI if you want to go really cheap). Your computer will just use the new card instead of the on board chip and RAM. As for DXDiag not reporting your video memory, that is most likely because it's just on board memory. There's no dedicated video memory to report so it "N/A"s it. The image shows "No problems found" so I'm assuming your drivers are fine, especially if you've had no other issues.

Assuming you are using XP: Go to control panel > Region and Language options > Languages tab > Click the "details" button If you are in the US you should see a box with "English", "keyboard" and "US" listed in it. If not, click the "add" button and select the proper english setting (US, UK and so on) that you use. I'm just guessing someone or something changed your keyboard layout. If this doesn't fix it, it may be a driver or hardware issue.

Laptop hardware is generally not upgradable because of the compact space it has to fit into. It also means cracking open the laptop case which is usually designed not to come apart. You could probably contact HP and have it done by them if they even offer it but it's generally not worth it. As for the lag, one game most likely uses a higher end graphics engine than the other, resulting in higher quality and more strain on your card.

That explains why Firefox seemingly randomly decided to take me to different forums while I was using my laptop touchpad. Agreed with the others, it's a bit annoying. :( Maybe with the fresh new server Alby can make it a profile setting. :P

This looks like the same issue I had with JavaScript about a year ago when I first built my tower. Somehow the JavaScript IE used became corrupted/changed/removed and left me with no functioning JavaScript and unable to get onto windows update. I wound up mailing an MS tech a couple times to finally get the SP2 download which fixed the problem. If you don't have all the latest updates from Windows Update, I suggest you get them, it may fix your problem. If not you may want to find the tech support section on Microsoft's website and send this in to see what they have to say.

It is most likely because it's a tutor version. There were a lot of restrictions on the VB 6 software we used my senior year in high school. One of those restrictions was being able to compile to exe's. All we were allowed to do was run them through the IDE as a "test" but couldn't export anything beyond that. It may be different with your copy but that's my experience with school/tutor versions. :?

IDE and ATA/133 are the same thing. IDE is the general interface name while ATA/133 denotes the speed. Short answer: Yes it'll work. :mrgreen:

If you hadn't installed SP2 untill today, you have A LOT more updates to install. It will take another 2 or 3 trips to windows update to get them all because of required restarts.

AVG Free spyware scanner (it's at the VERY bottom) Spybot Search & Destroy is another useful program used for spy ware scanning/removal.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Since this was probably aimed at which service people use, I use AIM, MSN and Yahoo. Have all 3 in one IM client like Trillian makes it nice and easy. :mrgreen:

You can. Turn javascript off, open the world url with your browser, turn it back on, login to the "full" world when a slot opens up. As for the script: You typo'ed one of your function calls. You don't use the $type variable anywhere in it. You didn't document what $gof is or where it came from.

Then download it? Trying to find it in a .zip is just a waste of time. Either way it's going to take a while to download over dialup. In the time it's taken you to post this and finally get replys to this point, you could have downloaded it twice over dialup and had it installed.

Yes. And I'm not gonna bother continuing the driver argument. We both have our own views on why and why not to support xp-64, so I'll just leave it at that. :

It's supplied through Windows Update and only Windows Update. That's why we answered like we did and didn't give you a zip file. You shouldn't be reprimanding us for not giving you something you can't find in the first place. You get to suffer like the rest of us dialup users and wait for it to download or you don't use it.

The runtime framework is found on windows update.
