  1. You may now officially discuss literature in the Varrock Library! I will move that Off-Topic thread to the Varrock Library but don't forget that you are welcome to create new threads to discuss literature, ask for book recommendations, etc. :)
  2. We are pleased to announce two forum changes that we hope you all will be happy with :) Varrock Library In addition to being home to all user-written creative works, the Varrock Library is now also home to all literature discussions. You are welcome to discuss your favourite books/authors, provide and receive book recommendations, look forward to the release of soon-to-be published novels, and anything else you can think of related to literature! Previously, discussions about books and literature were limited to one thread in Off-Topic. We hope that you book worms will enjoy having a whole new forum to play with (but remember to share it with the writers! ;)). Beginning Guides Beginning Guides was a subforum of the Archive of Wisdom and was where in-progress guides were posted. This subforum has been removed and all of its contents have been merged with the General Guides subforum. We would like to encourage all users to work on their guides in a Word Document (or similar text application) and wait until they are completed before posting. However, if you are unable to do that for some reason, you may post work-in-progress guides in the General Guides subforum but please use [WIP] tags in your title. Example: [WIP] Complete Herblore Guide We think this change will make things a bit simpler for users, and that way completed guides won't get lost in Beginning Guides. Don't forget that if you ever have any forum ideas/questions/comments, they can be posted in Forum Updates & Suggestions :)
  3. Not necessarily. There's probably more action in part 2 which usually makes 3D more appealing (to people who actually enjoy 2D movies converted into 3D).
  4. We are currently discussing a few forum changes right now. Our decision regarding this idea has been made (we will be merging literature discussions with the Varrock Library) but I'm hoping to reach a decision with one more forum change first so we can roll them all out at once :)
  5. I think it would be best that you do not enter if you do not want the prize :) Membership is the ONLY prize so in all honesty, if you're not interested in the prize, what's the point of entering anyway? Also if you want to give the membership away, it would greatly delay the process afterwards. It's just easier and better all around if you leave the contest to the people who actually really want the prize :)
  6. The old lady from Titanic died a few weeks ago  Aww :( That is pretty sad! D:
  7. Titanic and Toy Story 3 :XD:
  8. Just like with regular comments, a line has to be drawn somewhere. It's not necessarily about judging people by their name, but about judging the appropriateness of the name. Names can be offensive and inappropriate just like comments can be. More on-topic - I agree that it is annoying :( It has happened to me once or twice that I tried to report a bad name but couldn't.

I'm itching for a good book. I was in the bookstore (Borders) for over an hour tonight just looking for something good... and I failed :( I did flip through a book about how Avatar was made/filmed and it was kind of interesting  And then I read about 15 pages of a science fiction book that sounded good but it didn't catch my interest that much in the first few pages so I didn't buy it. But The Lost Hero should be arriving soon (I ordered it online a few days ago) so I have that to look forward to  SerpentEye - If you do read Betrayal at Falador, let me know how it is  It's sitting on my bookshelf at university, still unread.
  10. I saw Red tonight. I rather enjoyed it :D There were some epic action bits and good laughs.
  11. Just letting you guys know that the Administrators and Moderators are currently discussing this :)

Wow it's great to see you here again! :) It's been a long time! The third, seventh and eighth are my favourite :) The rays of sunlight in the seventh are epic - I love it when that happens! Sky photos are win!
  13. I'm glad they have a different plot! I took a quick glance at the description of the first book and it wasn't clear to me right away if the plots were the same or not. It wouldn't be very fun to read them if I already knew everything that was going to happen  But yeah, I'll totally add them to my queue of books to read! And I'm pretty fond of Nip/Tuck :P It's basically a show about plastic surgery but there are a lot of murders, crime and incredibly interesting plastic surgery stories tied in. It's kind of amazing/fun to see the different reasons people go in for plastic surgery and have a laugh about it. Although in warning, the first two seasons or so are excellent, but after that it does go downhill quite a bit. Oh and there's sex. Lots of sex.
  14. Here's a great example of what I mean, and I even chose a wolf on purpose since it deals with fur :) http://cerona.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2qnhwf There you can see the process I was trying to explain put into actions. There are work in progress screenshots of each stage and together they show you how most - if not all - professional artists go about building up a painting. Notice that the artist didn't jump straight into strands of fur. Those were saved for the last stage, after the main colours and shadows were laid out.
  15. I recently started re-watching Dexter, so good! Opening scene is brilliantly done. :) Have you read the books? The introduction always reminds me of the Nip/Tuck intro  In the sense that they're both kind of beautiful/artistic but with a layer of creepiness. I have not read the books ;o Definitely something I should look into :) As a followup, I finished season 4 just now.
  16. I spoke to our techie and he is going to look into the above (and possible solutions) before considering these changes :) Hopefully we can figure something out!
  17. You can still work with various tones when blocking it in. It's just a matter of building it up slowly rather than trying to work in all the small details right away. It's a process that most artists would suggest, but ultimately it is up to you.
  18. A very good point :P The only reason a lot of topics aren't popping up (@ Jimmy) is that we do have that big, universal thread. Since the beginning of October (2 weeks) there have been nearly 5 new pages added to that thread. That's pretty good activity, I think. I would be down for a literature subforum :) Or, maybe we could work out some sort of merger with the Varrock Library. Honestly that forum isn't terribly active so maybe it could be for sharing personal literary works and for discussing literature in general.
  19. This is "I DEMAND BELLYRUB:" <3 <3 <3
  20. I would recommend starting big and ending small. Right now it looks like you've jumped straight into the details (strands of fur). But the problem is that when you do this, it's harder to get the shading right, and you can see that bits of white show through. I would start of blocking in the main colours and getting the very basic shadows right. Then once you have everything planned out, then you can go back in and work on refinement and details (like strands of fur).
  21. Please join me in congratulating two moderators on stepping up to the Global Moderator rank: Toad and Y_Guy  They have both been doing a fantastic job and we look forward to having them help out on even more boards! Congratulations! :)
  22. Cute subject :D Not really much to comment on so far, but I look forward to seeing your further progress :)
  23. Wow I very vaguely remember the first one and I remember the second two quite well... Feels like so long ago!
  24. Manipulated :) An example of original would be a picture that you created/drew. As for the second question, I think it's kind of hard to answer without context. I'd imagine that some text would be fine, as long as it's not the central part of the picture. You don't want the text to distract from the actual caption, as that's really supposed to be the main text associated with the picture. If you want to discuss this in more detail you're welcome to PM me :)
