  1. Moved to Help & Advice. Please post all questions here in the future :) And just to clarify, there are two types of "AFK training." There is the "slang" type (for lack of a better phrase), where a person is able to fight at a location and constantly do something else while playing the game. They are still remained at their computer, but they are able to do other things WHILE PLAYING (such as read forums or watch TV, etc.). The person is still in control of their character and sitting at the computer, but the task does not demand their constant attention. And then there's literal AFK training where someone LEAVES THE COMPUTER while their character does something. THIS form of AFK training is in fact against the rules and we do not permit the discussion/promotion of it.
  2. Eh? Are you being serious here? YOU see 5 locks a day. I see a lot more behind the scenes. You don't see the spamming, the thousands of innapropriate gifs, numerous spammers spam at the same time making their threads impossible to even view. Are we meant to just dump the whole work load on admins? I don't take offence to this because I can see how misinformed you are. Just adding onto what Phil said (and I agree with him completely), moderators do not just lock. We remove a lot of posts from public view (most of the ones that break the rules, actually), issue warnings, make sure that signatures and avatars are within the limits, discuss and implement new policies, remove/change old policies, manage forum contests, promote and demote guides in the Archive of Wisdom (and its subforums), and much more. Then there are the clan moderators who have even more work to do. Since they are trying to rebuild the entire clan section to its former glory, they have more than enough work on their plates right now. They have lists to manage and update, new ideas to develop and put into action, etc. As Phil said, just because you only SEE five locks a day, doesn't mean that there isn't more going on. Plus you have to consider all of the forums that you may not necessarily read on a daily basis.. those have to be taken care of too. While I will agree that much less moderation is required today than 2 years ago, there is still a lot of work to do and we currently have a solid team to do it.

Great job! I love the details in the trees especially. However, the really detailed trees make the ground look a little lacking in comparison. I would recommend spending some more time on the ground, especially near the bottom of the canvas. Maybe add some detailed moss or leaves or something? It just seems odd that the ground looks more detailed near the back of the image than at the front. Because of the fog or haze or whatever, it should actually be the other way around?
  4. I think it looks fine :) Not that it's necessarily going to be removed, but you should ALWAYS back up your signature on your computer anyway, especially if it contains valuable information/dates/numbers/etc. Your signature may be removed if you ever accidently exceed the limits (although it looks fine now) or there could be a glitch on the forum and you could lose your signature. So just in case, you should always back it up :) There is in fact a limit to picture size. The comment: "It doesn't matter how many or how big the images in the signature are" didn't mean that you can have images of any size. It just meant that no matter how big your images are (as long as they're within the limits), the rules for text remain the same. So if you have an image with a height of 50 pixels, you still can only have 4 lines of unhidden text or 10 hidden lines of text. And if you have an image with a height of 200 pixels (which is the max), you can still only have 4 lines of unhidden text or 10 hidden lines of text. But all of the images in your signature combined (both in and out of hide tags) may not exceed 450x200 pixels. Does that make sense?
  5. Locking this for several reasons: First of all, I also think the image looks fake. But putting that aside, any messages that you receive from Jagex are supposed to remain CONFIDENTIAL.. meaning that they stay between you and Jagex. And putting THAT aside, all images belong in the sticky.
  6. Yeah, I think so. :| Okay, thanks. :P Hang on a sec... I was almost 100% certain all images much be 200 x 450px or less, whether in hide tags or not. So how come Jaffy's signature is still ok? He has changed his signature since he first posted ;)

Thanks so much! And I had a blast :) Aw thanks Shaz Maybe I'll get around to it today!
  8. Pretty much what Ralag said. Private servers are illegal and a violation of the RuneScape Rules, and therefore also a violation of the Tip.it Forum Rules. Discussing or advertising private servers is not permitted anywhere on the Tip.it Forums. Please review both the Tip.it and RuneScape Rules before posting again.
  9. We have always removed signatures with too much text. The problem was that we never had guidelines for when a signature has too much text and when it's okay. So we never had a "line." One signature would be removed by one moderator but another signature of almost equal size would not be removed. People started complaining and saying that we were being unfair or biased or whatever. So from a moderator standpoint, to ensure 100% consistency, it was important for us to come up with rules that we could easily follow.
  10. That's actually a good question. I use smaller font than the norm in my sigs, and some others might see this as an opportunity to blow their text to God knows how big; the question/remark then becomes: What's the stance on that, or will the rules be updated to reflect that? If your font size is "normal" or smaller, then the four line rule still applies. Any LARGER text will be up to the moderators' discretion. So if someone has less than four lines of huge text in their signature, but it's still obviously too big, it will be removed.
  11. Those are images, so they count as images in this rule ;) Your text is one line so it's perfectly fine. Although you have several words, they all fit on one line. What we're focusing on with this rule is LINES of text, so that would be visible text. Here's your signature, which is acceptable (I left out the links because I was lazy): And here's an example of an unacceptable signature: Your signature had one image and one line of text. My second example had one image and SIX lines of text. But our limit on lines of text WITHOUT HIDE TAGS is only four lines of text, so my second example exceeds the limit. But I could make the second signature acceptable by putting the text in hide tags, because if you do that, you are allowed 10 lines of text. Does that make sense?
  12. I know we used to have an old LOTRO thread around here somewhere.. but it's a few years old so maybe a new one is in order :XD: LOTRO is a really great game, but seriously lacks in end-game content. I played it for about a year and maxed out like four characters before Mines of Moria came out. Then when Moria did came out, I got one character to 60 and one or two more into the mid 50's. Plus I started leveling a Rune-Keeper. But after you've seen what end-game is like, there is such little incentive to max out a character that I eventually got bored of the game. Leveling your first character is tons of fun and you feel like there are endless opportunities. But once I, at least, maxed out my first character, things really changed for me. It didn't feel like there are any real goals that I could aim for. Everything is either way too easy (crafting, leveling and earning money, for example, are almost a joke) or too based on luck/farming. There aren't any real long-term achievements to keep you hooked, and that's really what I look for in a game. That being said, it was very enjoyable for me while I did play. It's just too easy to max out and then once you do, it's like "Now what? Level a new character..?" and after you've maxed out like 3 or 4 times, it gets kind of... "ehhh." But the graphics are awesome and anyone who loves LOTR lore and PVE content (unlike Nadril here ;)) will enjoy the game. I've done PvMP a few times, but PVP really isn't my thing. People who have played LOTRO and other games say that LOTRO's PVP content isn't great, but since I don't like PVP much anyway, I can't form a real accurate opinion about it. Oh and I guess for the record: Tilarwen, 60 Lore-Master - Nimrodel Enhirwen, 55 (?) Hunter - Nimrodel Emrila, 50 Burglar - Nimrodel Skieler, 55 (?) Minstrel - Nimrodel Eclipses, 34 (?) Captain - Nimrodel Enchant, 27 (?) Rune-Keeper - Nimrodel A few of those are guesses, obviously. Enhirwen and Skieler are in the mid-50's, I just can't remember the exact number.. Eclipses is between 30 and 35, and Enchant.. high 20's.
  13. You will still be able to keep track of your drops. Just put them in hide tags. As for why: we always removed signatures that were too big or had too much text. What we had a problem with was where to draw the line. These are just the specific rules that we chose so that we could follow strict guidelines when removing large signatures rather than "using our best judgement," which wasn't always the same from moderator to moderator.

Thanks for the suggestion :) However, right now I do have a crop camera because I find myself shooting things from far away more often than landscapes. I'm not going to buy another camera for the few landscape shots that I take, I just don't take enough of them. You are right though - so thank you :)
  15. Locked for two reasons: First of all you had already created THREE other threads requesting to borrow a Dragon Hatchet. Creating multiple threads on the same topic (and posting the same thread in different forums) is spamming and against the Tip.it Forum Rules. And secondly, the proper forum to request to borrow an item is the Item Lending subforum. Please do not create a new thread. I moved one of your other threads to the correct forum: viewtopic.php?f=252&t=799860
  16. All who show true dedication to the site and clearly deserve the role of administrator, usually get the position regardless of timing/etc. But when other admins leave, that's usually when the current admins purposely look for people who could fill their roles ;) So even if no admins had stepped down recently, I'm sure that both Darkdude and n_odie would have been made administrators eventually, if not now. Because they are both very deserving of the position and have worked very hard for Tip.it and its users.
  17. And for the record, there is no official Tip.it Clan Chat :) So Forsakenmage is the way to go :)
  18. It is true that most admins are moderators first, but there have been Crewbies that become Admins in the past :) Kiara_Kat was a Crewbie who became a Crew Leader and then an Administrator ;)
  19. The two last people who were given the rank were huge assets to the team and made many contributions in a variety of areas. I wouldn't call that work that "just about anyone" does. Congratulations, n_odie! This promotion is very, very, VERY well-deserved!
  20. I saw The Proposal last night. [hide=Possible Spoilers]I thought it was a great movie. It was HILARIOUS! The whole audience was cracking up the whole time. I LOVED the chant/dance scene :XD: My only gripe is that the character development was pretty bad. You could sort of see the girl beginning to fall for Andrew, but it never felt like Andrew was really falling for the girl until like the last 5 minutes. Of all things, it looked like he was falling for Gertrude all over again. But suddenly at the end, it's like apparently he likes her. But despite that, it was a great movie and worth seeing.[/hide]
  21. You should have an application called "Preview" on your Mac. Whenever you open a picture it should open in that application. Once it's opened up, just click and drag the part of your picture that you want. Then go Tools > Crop (or [apple] + [k]).

Great picture!! That sky is STUNNING! The horizon like does look a tad crooked though. I know that the background is very hilly, but it still doesn't look quite right to me. Keep it up!
  23. This is the only thing I don't quite understand. Even if they write a response, it still needs to be confirmed by finding the user, looking at the content of the post(s) or topic(s), which is basically the same as just investigating without a response in the report form. Missing something am I? It's helpful because sometimes moderators and users don't always see eye to eye. A lot of posts that are reported don't require any action to be taken. But if the reporter types out what they THINK the problem is, we can try to see the post as they see it, and possibly PM them to explain why there isn't a problem. If they just report a post as "Spam" and don't comment further, then I look at it and don't see anything spammy about it, I don't quite understand what they meant or why they thought it was spam. But if they had commented, perhaps I can understand what they were thinking and then PM them and tell them why they were wrong or maybe see something in the post that I didn't see before. Not sure if that explains it very well, but I did my best :XD:

Wow thank you! I can arrange prints for you if you seriously want them  Yeah I wish the eagle one was better, but it was too far away for me to improve the shot at all. Thanks you so much for your comments :) When you asked: "When'd you go there? And how?" what are you referring to exactly? When did I go to Alaska or when did I go to the place where the mountain pictures were taken? I went to Alaska from June 7th to the 19th on a cruise. While in Skagway, I took a helicopter ride up to a glacier where I went dog sledding (hence the mountain pictures). All of the waterscape shots were taken from the cruise boat or a smaller boat. Hope that answers your question :ohnoes: ------------- I agree with everything eckered said, by the way, for anyone who's looking into DSLR photography
