  1. Well technically you can buy hundreds of thousands of cannonballs to make it much easier/faster. But yes, it still takes time. If you weren't lucky enough to have rares to trade in for cannonballs, cannoning all tasks is less and less affordable. Anyone trying for 85 much less 99 slayer today without disposable rares for ammo will have a long and hard goal ahead ofthem. Even if they have all the knowledge to efficiently slay them. Also even if you have money, cannonballs only speed up tasks by 20-30 minutes and in the end no matter what you put in much more effort than many other skills on your way to the 99. You guys are definately taking what I said the wrong way... I'm not saying that being able to spend money on cannonballs will get you 99 slayer in a month.. Because I know that's not going to happen. I'm just trying to throw out the idea that there are minor ways in which large amounts of gp can increase the amount of xp you get per hour. As previously said, the skill is not completely buyable.. It does require a lot of time and effort. But having a lot of gp to buy cannonballs with can definately speed up the process.
  2. you can't cannon every slayer task  I never said you could :P But having the ability to buy hundreds of thousands of cannonballs to use on the tasks in which you can use a cannon helps significantly. Just take a look at the first people who got 85 slayer, or even 99 slayer. Those people got it pretty quickly, how? Because they used cannonballs. Now look at the average person who doesn't use cannonballs. It probably takes them anywhere from 1-3 months just to get 85. Whereas it probably took the people using cannonballs a few weeks (naturally, depending upon how long they played..). Either way, there is a significant difference :P I'm not saying the skill is totally buyable, but there certainly are ways to increase the amount of xp you get per hour (even if it's just by a couple thousand) with the help of larger amounts of gp to spend.
  3. The ones I want most are: -99 construction (getting close :)) -99 prayer (still a way to go) -99 crafting (again, a long way to go) -99 runecrafting (will get it eventually? :ohnoes:)
  4. I suppose there were two times: -First when I got 99 fletching. Only a couple hundred people had it at the time (500 or so), so it felt like a huge accomplishment. Although as more and more people started to get 99 fletching, I started to feel less and less proud of it. -When I bought my own party hat Probably felt less like a noob because people looked up to me, followed me, questioned me, etc..
  5. It depends on which way you look at it. Herblore: -Very fast (as fast as fletching at low-medium levels; faster than fletching at higher levels); I'd say around 100k - 200k xp per hour -Requires money (unless you get herbs yourself) -Very similar to fletching when it comes to constant clicking and such (stringing) Agility -You have no control over how much xp you get per hour -No money is required -Don't get more than 50k xp per hour on average -Requires patience Given that information, I'd say that Agility is harder. Yes, herblore requires money if you want to get xp efficiently, but that's about the only downside to it. --- Now, more on topic... Must have taken a while to get all those numbers :P I'm looking forward to soon being one of the few people who will have the 99 construction capes, and if all goes well.. The 99 prayer and RC capes as well :D :3>
  6. Similarly, yet not as impressive as Dead_Dude4, I collect tools. Not really on purpose, I just buy whatever's in the general/farming stores when I pass by. Some of these tools include, but are not limited to: Hammers Chisels Tinderboxes Spades Rakes And so on.. :)
  7. Ape Atoll :)
  8. Well technically you can buy hundreds of thousands of cannonballs to make it much easier/faster. But yes, it still takes time.
  9. Yeah. Those 5 days it took for the first few 99's was definately too long. Do you have any clue how much time they played each day and how much cash they spent? The people who don't have the huge amount of cash to spend as they do will probably be using oaks. Do you have any idea how long that will take? Think before you post. After getting 99 con, you can bet that they won't be so rich anymore. ;) That's where you're wrong. Construction is just about as fast as cooking, assuming you buy planks (even oak) and have a butler. Oak planks, believe it or not, are faster than teak. Sure, Mahogany is faster, but Oak is still very fast. I am currently 93 construction and I used Oak from 76-93. I get 200k xp an hour, which is close, if not the same amount, that you can get from cooking per hour. Sure, it will take significantly longer if you plank your own logs.. But if you buy Oak planks, it's still very very fast xp.
  10. Yes. It's pretty well known that the easiest, and most common skills to get 99 in are: -Cooking -Fishing -Fletching -Woodcutting And one that's becoming more common by the day, firemaking. Sure, cutting all the logs, or fishing all the fish as well as fletching/cooking them will take more time.. But they're still the most common and some of the fastest skills to get to 99.
  11. you arent very bright. from lvl 44 on its easy, just have friends or random people run you pure ess in exchange for nats, do it till laws, then switch to either laws or keep doing nats, you could probably do it within days I'd say you're the one who isn't very bright. First of all, there are not many people who would give you pure essence for nats, when they could do it themselves and get xp for it. Second of all, do you know how many people attempt just even 91 rc (not even 99)? I'd say thousands.. Maybe even hundreds of thousands. And do you know how many people succeed? Very, very few. That makes the number of people who actually continue on to 99 RC even less than the previous number (amount of people who succeed at getting 91). Even at companies like Fast Free Laws, it's only 30k xp an hour, maybe less. Unless you no-lifed it (RCed literally 24 hours a day), it's impossible to get 99 RC within a few days. It takes weeks, months, years.
  12. I disagree with that :P Certain people got 99/85 slayer a lot faster because they had the gp available to buy hundreds of thousands of cannonballs. Whereas others had to get there without the use of cannonballs. Anyway, I think the most respected will just be all of the uncommon/hard/expensive skills to get to 99 (almost everything other than attack, strength, defence, hit points, woodcutting, fishing, fletching, cooking...)
  13. I agree. Some people do certainly take it too far, but then again, the people who walk around saying, "It's only pixels! It's only a game!" also take it a bit too far in my opinion. You could easily make the same argument with television. Why watch tv shows? They're technically just staged scenarios with planned dramatic incidents. So why watch it? And I agree with what you said about how our Runescape characters somewhat represent who we are and the many hours we spent making the character what it is today. If someone were to accidently alch a whip or something, and someone says to the person, "Get over it, they're just pixels," it makes me wonder, if the game is just pixels why do you even play? Sure that person did technically just make a few pixels disappear, but it also caused the several hours s/he spent working for that whip to go to waste. I just think people who walk around saying things like that need to have a little more respect. Afterall, if Runescape really is nothing more than just pixels, then the person making that argument shouldn't even play..
  14. Area Sounds: Don't really affect me, I don't use sounds on RS. Emote Screen: Definately the thing that I will have to adjust to the most.. I use emotes a lot  It's very confusing now that they are in a different order, and no longer say the name of the emote. And a few of the images are slightly difficult to decipher  Orange Text on stats page: Horrible. I'm sure I might get used to it eventually... But for now, it's just disgusting. New Equipment Page: No opinion really. The little image of yourself is quite cool though, I must say. Run Button: I've gotten used to it :P Lumbridge Bank: A very good idea, I think. When I first started RS, it took me ages to find the closest bank, nobody would show me where Draynor was :( Compass Hawt. Rune Boots: I actually don't really understand why there is a strengh bonus in boots (doesn't make much sense), but I suppose it's a fair update :? Doesn't really affect me, I don't wear rune boots. Desert boots ftw! Free Lumbridge teleport: Very convenient. Not only is it a great idea for the sake of new-comers, but it's handy if someone ever forgets their tele :P
  15. Meh, failed mine :anxious: I actually made 23m gp (which is still quite an achievement) but instead of buying the materials for a Demonic Throne, I bought a dragon chain and pure essence instead  So I guess my throne room will be empty for yet a few more weeks. Welcome back, by the way :)
  16. Sure it isn't the best, but it's actually pretty good if you have a considerable amount of luck. I got three sceptres in less than 300k xp or so. Sold them for about 700k each. As for the Guthans idea.. I wouldn't recommend it, personally. Wearing unnecessary armour just makes you run out of energy a lot faster, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose since Pyramid Plunder is based on speed. It's better to just bank and tele back to the pyramid.
  17. Omg :D:D :3> :3> My Diamond Ring :3>
  18. Fishing sharks is like cutting magics... Average of 110 or so per hour, that's terrible. 110k an hour... I would recommend making nature runes. I see your rc level is only 40, but that's not a problem. It'd probably take you an hour or so to get level 44. Make fire runes using the dueling ring method (tele to castle wars to bank, tele to duel arena and walk to altar). Then, when you're 44, get all the pouches you can use and make nature runes in the abyssal space. I usually make around 700k an hour (not counting the price of essence). But then again I do use super energy pots and all four pouches. You'll probably make around 330k an hour or so (not counting the price of essence), so that averages out to about 220k an hour. And as your level progresses, which it will, the amount you make will raise even more. It's certainly one of the most efficient ways to make gp.
  19. Well you definately did say that we should thank RC "PKers" for keeping the prices of nats up.. Which would imply that you're on their side. I must say that both you and the creator of this thread are assuming that far more people are killed by RC "PKers" than the real number that actually are. And even so, when those people die and assuming they know how to get pouches back efficiently, how many nats is that really stopping them from making? I know that I usually get all my pouches back within 15 minutes or less. Meaning, I was left out on making 500 nats. Obviously this number varies depending upon your RCing level/how fast you get pouches back.. But 500 nats really isn't that much, especially when compared to the estimated amount that are brought into the economy every hour. Now, just as an example.. When I spend a full day RCing, which I do most weekends, I usually make 10k - 20k nats. How many times have I been successfully PKed? I'd say once or twice, before I was smart enough to bring a tele. Now, how many people (on average) do I see die a day? Usually zero. Of course, I'll occasionally see a level 80 or so die who didn't bring a teleport device, who usually has a RC level below 70.. Who probably would have only made a few more nats anyway... But in the end, I usually never see anybody die on my average day of RCing 10k - 20k nats. Now, I am aware that this doesn't mean that someone else on a different world didn't die to a RC "PKer," because they certainly could have, but I'm just trying to give you an example of about how many RCers actually die a day: very few.
  20. I disagree with just about everything you said. First off, I'd like to say that I agree 100% with Dork's post. Even if your theory and calculations were correct (which they're not, which I'll get to in a minute), that doesn't make RC 'PKing' "okay" in my book. Nothing could change my personal view, that they are pathetic. You've left out far too many important factors to make your calculations even somewhat accurate. First of all, the constant change of the amount of both PKers and RCers from hour to hour. One hour, there could be 190 people making an average of 1.7k nats per hour and 10 people making 4k nats per hour (people with 91+ rc). However the next hour there could be 150 people making an average of 1.3k nats per hour and 2 people making 4k nats per hour. Then, later that night, there could be 50 people making an average of 1.5k nats per hour and 1 person making 4k nats per hour. See where you went wrong? In addition, I think you are assuming that far more people die than the amount that actually do. I'd say that one single RC "PKer" would be lucky to get 1 kill a day. This number may have been greater when the Abyssal Space first came out, but now the number of kills RC "PKers" get is very little. Because now the PKers who actually know how to PK no longer kill RCers. Why? Because they've realized that it's a terrible source of income. Even they, on average, were probably only getting one kill every 1-2 hours, which was only about 70k or so an hour, which is just terrible.. Now, all we're left with is the people who just flat out don't know how to PK. I'd almost argue that more RC "PKers" die than the actual RCers. I've seen many people, including myself and a few friends, get attacked by RC "PKers." We tele away before we die, go back to Edgy, then go back and kill the RC "PKers" ourselves. You know someone is bad at PKing, when the person who was being attacked (who usually has no serious PKing experience) can come back and kill the RC "PKer" within a matter of seconds. I highly doubt that a few people making a few less nats an hour due to RC PKers will have a large impact on the economy, if an impact at all. No offence to any small time RCers out there, but they're usually the ones who die. Why? Because they don't have extensive knowledge of Abyssal RCing. Meaning, they don't think to wear armour that will cause PKers' spells to fail far more often, or they don't think to bring a one click tele device. Usually, the runecrafters who produce mass amount of nature runes know how to successfully escape RC "PKers" every time, and therefore, very very rarely die. And therefore, there would be no large impact on the price of nature runes.
  21. My parents haven't actually read the guide, and they know very little about runescape. Except that I play it (although I must say, they pronounce it 'Run Escape'). However, my parents subtley think (I know this seems like a strange thing to say, but it's true), that any pastimes/hobbies other than sports are a waste of time. Not that they force me to play sports or anything, but they hint it every know and then. So basically, they don't really like it :P
  22. I have that in the guide o.O Ah, didn't know that o.O After 5 sceptres i've never een teleported out, guess I move onto the next room too fast, lol :P I have had this happen to me twice. And I know how to fix it :P Basically, the guardian mummy appears, as previously mentioned and will tele you out ONLY if you press "Continue." If you do press continue, you get the Sceptre and are teled out. Again, if you press continue, have NO inventory space, you are teled out and the Sceptre appears on the floor back in the pyramid (in other words, you don't get it). However, if you don't press continue, and instead, just click on the floor below you, or on an urn, or an empty space 3 squares away, you will NOT be teleported out and you will still get your sceptre. For example, if your inventory is full and you get a sceptre, instead of pressing continue, drop something in your inventory (the message should disappear and you should not be teleported out) and pick up the sceptre, which should be below you. This should work, as it has worked for me :P One time I was teleported out, and the next I tried the method I stated above and it worked fine, I wasn't teleported that time. So I'm asuming Dork just didn't press "Continue" ;)
