What I don't get is why I get flamed for eating flat out, then leaving against a tank. Should I just stand there, eat swordies flat out until I finish them, then wait til the final blow lands? All the while I have not made the tank ranger/full rune guy eat once. The question goes back to why we made pures in the first place - to beat mains who were crap at pking. OR to test your skills against other pures. They were not made to fight mains in full rune who would eat at 40hp. I have no problem with tanks being in wildy, just don't expect me to stand around and be your whacking sack!

Strength only. Put it on your highest stat to get max xp per zeal.
-
Hold onto it and train hard with it for at least 4 days. Then decide if you want to keep an amazing training weapon, or sell it and train with a lesser hunka steel. A few hundy k profit is hardly anything to get too exited about. Talking in the mils of profit though might make you think about selling if the training is not up to your expectations.

Yes you can. Just wear monk robes, and pk with scimmy/r2H combo. Raise your strength to 95+. Wearing rune at your level will only make fight extremely long, boring and fruitless. Other rune wearers will run, whereas at least with everyone wearing monks you have a fun fight with the knowledge that at most you will lose a scimmy.

Absolutely insane! Most would have given up by now, so good on ya for keeping on keeping on. Good luck pking once you get 99 str. Btw, what will be your max hit at cb 41?

Excellent example of how mature mains are. Couldn't have set a finer example myself. Are all mains like that ^, no - neither are pures.

Range tanks are the most powerful of critters in F2P PvP these days hands down. Magic still takes down full rune, although not with the regularity that it should considering the 'triangle'.
-
I have pk'd both F2P and P2P and can catagorically state that in my experience F2P pking has much less criticism in game of styles and name calling. There are always the odd exception, but its the exception not the rule. Levels also have a lot to do with it. Level 30-45 are full of new pures who are often hasty to call a name or 3. Once they get to 50-60, there has been a lot of time put into the character, and more experience has been had at pking. More recognition of skill is outwardly expressed rather than a insult. Mains however do not have the same time put in as a pure when it comes to PvP fighting. Intricicies are not yet ingrained, so the amount of abuse from them seems to be higher. Thats my 2p anyhoo.
-
Thats how I made my 1st mil in F2P on my old main. Hillies are a tad tough if you're a melee pure, but ranging them is OK. Bring a stack of varrock teles quickens up the collection time I find.
-
And there we have it ladies and gents - fun - that is what its all about. If you can't stand people running from dstone bolts/claws/AGS - then hop over to the free side and enjoy what has to be the most fun with your pants on - F2P pking at edge. I have not been able to do much else since it came back - it is that good. I will not be renewing my membership until I have drained every last penny in my bank to fund my pking addiciton. Doesn't matter if your level 30, or 126 - as long as you aren't afraid to die, and lose a scim/R2H then that is where you ought to be.
-
If you are P2P, just train on fleshies. the herb drops, and noted items/runes stack up very quickly. I earned over 8M training there from 70-90 strength. In F2P its a lot harder. I trained range at minataurs and earned a few hunfy k through dorps, arrows and gems from random events. Gems are no longer in such easy supply though unfortunately.

Me today in F2P. First target, another pure. An epic fight ending with massive hits, and each had one food left - I won, getting 120k in rewards. Second Target: Was a full rune waering wierdo - didn't respond to me when I asked if he wanted to 1 item, or no arm etc, so I changed gear into mage and KO'd him using fire blast. One of the wierdest pk's I ever have had. Anyhoo, 260k in the bank :) 3rd target: Another pure, got KO'd after eating 2 swordies with a 22/27 from a scim/R2H switch - what a beast! Sounds like you must be doing something wrong to avoid getting a fight - perhaps you resemble my target #2?

Not all the drops in PvP are dropping in price. I get numerous str pots dropped each time kill, yet they rise. Rune scims are dropped often too, yet are hard to buy. Supply/demand is working well, esp with food/pots. Weapons are in high demand even though they get dropped often. Special drops like corropt d chain though is junk.

Depends on levels, and if you're gonna get pray. from 45-60ish the range/r2h'er is the king of the BH hill. After 60cb though the 1def, 1pray strength pure begins his dominance. Hitting 21's with scim and pot only, and 25/26 with R2H takes away the speed of the ranger. get them low, then keep hitting em. I did both - got 84 range and 85 strength and did quite well. 1 prayer helps a lot for the range/r2h as you dont need to worry about prayer switching, or refilling prayer points after each fight. Now am a strength only pure eating rangers for breakfast with 92 strength.

I trained on goblins til about your level, then went to minataurs (the level 12 ones) in level 1 SoS. Collect all iron arrows as you will need them later on for range training. Once you are at 50 str, I suggest going to the level 23? Ones a couple of rooms away. Range on the level 12 ones once you are about level 20 range. After 50 range go again to the level 23 ones. I ranged to 70 on those!

I wasn't even wearing rune. I was wearing some adamant stuff with a rune scimmy. Which is precisely why you see almost all serious pkers in F2P wearing monk robes. Pking is all about hitting high, often and the thrill of killing/getting killed and the risk vs reward aspect. Removing all risk of dieing removes the excitement of pking at edge imo.
-
I guess I am one of those 'fools' - although I do not ask for a no armour. A few (very few) rangers offer a no armour fight when they see me hit 10 zeros in a row. I accept and will fight to the death. Tank rangers almost always win, and good on em. People who attack me wearing full rune and expect me to stand there and eat sowrdies until my inventory is empty are crazy. I usually stay for about 10 sowrdies before I leave. I do like to see them start the abuse of 'Safer" etc, and I love it when I smack a 21 on em and they immediately eat to full health! Mains who pk at low level edge against pures and moan that pures won't fight them are as foolish as those who eat 25 swordies while hitting 0's. Pures fight each other to hit big numbers and to have a chance at KO'ing their opponant. They dont go there to have no chance at success.

AGS fo sho. Barrage n spec rushing will make you muchos cashies, and very few friends - but hey, we don't pk for mates do we ;) Claws are OK but you are limited as the accuracy is rubbish.
-
20 att, 40 str is good. Next step is 30/50 then 40/60 continuing to 40/99. Range/R2H'ers will eat you up until you are 40/80+ so stay away from them, or join them. Mages are kings of F2P until level 35ish where the reangers come into thier own. good luck!

6th May 2009 - Bounty Hunter Wilderness-only PvP
alcoolj replied to Kirderf123's topic in General Discussion
I have been pking almost every available opportunity since the new BH worlds came out. My score is 8.5/10 so far. There are a few bugs yet to be ironed out, and a few anomolies that just don't make sense, but I think they have encapulated what Edge pking was all about very nicely and added a target feature that keeps you logged on for longer! Bugs: Once dead, you can attack your killer often without getting a skull. Not good. You can only chase your opponant out of wildy and get the 10 second timer if they are exactly your level. Why is this? Should be for every opponant, or none. Rangers would be liking this lot! When someone you have done damage to dies by the hands of someone else and you get the drop - it is impossible to find the drop. Maybe a blinking dot for a few seconds following the death? Something would be nice. All in all, 1 def pures now have a use and can actually make a profit by pking. P2P pking can be very profitable indeed, I just hope that it won't get abused (like that won't happen). May as well make the most out of the new wildy while it lasts. Seems that the PvP system gets an overhaul every year or so! I sincerely hope this one lasts forever thogh. It fits my prerequisites for pking very well :) -
Which has better rewards Bounty Hunter Wilderness or PVP?

BH worlds are the place to go for loot. 1 itemers are reporting massive drops, which was never the case in PvP. No idea why anyone would even bother to go to PvP worlds now tbh. -
f2p PvP help? Coming back after a year
alcoolj replied to The_Flame_Alchemist's topic in Help and Advice
Tank range is your best option. get 91 range to hit natural 15's with addys, though through pking you will get to 91 anyway. Your melee stats do not have enough grunt to KO, so stick with range for now. Train up your strength later to use R2H as a KO option. -
I'm against prayer too, when fights can last for some time these days, your pray will run out during fights, leaving you vulnerbale to those with 1 pray. Buck the trend and get high hp and 1 pray/def.
-
Exactly - everyone has their own opinion on how to PK, which is fine. Just don't complain when people leave fights if you safe, tag, pj etc. If you are 'dishonorable' then expect people to pj/tag on you too. What goes around comes aorund. I pk the ol fashioned way - alone at edge. I ignore those who want to 'team', and make a mental note to slay them next chance I get. I don't get mad at those who pj/tag etc, but I do find myself wishing unkind things would happen to them. There is no 'code', just a 'wouldn't it be great if all pkers pk'd like me' mentality. Fortunately not everyone thinks like me *shudder at the thought*

I've had worse insults than being called a safer lolz. I've been called a def nub (1 def), prayer nub (1 prayer), 1 itemer nub (again, 1 prayer), and food nub - what the hell is that! I shrug em off, and look for fights endlessly, for that is the main reason I still play RS. Pking is back, and regardless of how many new pkers there are, there will always be uptight induhviduals who cannot stand losing a fight, even if was a great/epic battle. I always say 'gf', if I can get me stubby fingers onto the keys in time - except if I beat on a pjer/tagger. In those cases, I wish them a happy death.
