  1. Yes, another well written post. I ESPECIALLY liked the "list what tournaments on each world" is doing where you can see how many are in the tournament area and more importantly what the tournament being offered on that world is like. Yeah, it'll encourage world hopping, but this would be a good type of world hop. The parts on health determining winner, spread out of starting ranks, number of registrars, battle time, etc. has been talked about. Still need to be addressed by Jagex. Other options that can be allowed: Total Refresh: What you bring into the tournament refreshes between rounds. Reduces attrition battles. Not sure if the server memory can handle this but who knows. Offer a title belt now and again: For high level tournaments, think of giving a "belt" or some article the winner can wear for 24 hours or longer denoting he's a king of the ring. Maybe if mixed with summoning, you get your own "entourage" of fans and reporters and runescape's version of Don King. Yes, it was a rushed update but obviously it has been worked on for quite awhile to boot. So long as changes get made in reasonable time, this can be a winning update months down the road.
  2. Yes, you are right. Mod Ash talked specifically about that. Unfortunately, it was in a Recent Event thread so it's gone now.
  3. Yeah, it's a week late, but post what Jagex currently values the going rate of an item in the Duel Arena. How to do it: **Look at Post 11, Jonni's for a screen shot, the price is lower part of the screen** Go to the Duel Arena, enter into a duel with a friend and begin offering up different items for the wager (no need to accept or decline). Check the price the game considers the item is worth, write it down and post it here. Example: Beserker Ring - 2.54 Mill gp Rare items will be really nice if you can check em. ******************* ~~Rares~~ Green H'Ween Mask - 19.05 Mill gp Red H'Ween Mask-36.2 Mill gp Santa hat - 23.475 Mill gp ~~High Value Drops~~ Beserker Ring - 2.54 Mill gp Abyssal Whip - 1.6 Mill gp Ring of Wealth - 52.5k Crystal Key - 60.8k Ancient Staff - 95k Ammy of Glory - 60k ~~Barrows~~ Torag Helm - 231k Torag Body - 442.5k Verac Skirt - 431.75k ~~Treasure Trails~~ Green Boater - 75k Addy Kite(t) - 46.2k D'hide Chaps(g) - 125k ~~Fletching~~ Magic Log - 1050 ~~Herblore~~ Ranarr weed - 7660 3 dose Prayer - 8001 3 dose Super Restore - 8449 4 dose Anti-Fire Potion - 4220 ~~Armor~~ Full Rune - 184.666k ~~Food~~ Raw Shark - 800 Cooked Shark - 983 ~~Smith/Mining~~ Addy Ore - 1675 Mith Ore - 400 Addy Bar - 2910 Mith Bar - ~~Farming~~ Magic Seed 165k Yew Seed - 80k Calquat Seed - 42.5k Ranarr Seed - 29.5k Snap Seed - 38.5k Watermelon Seed - 2120 ~~Mage Training Arena~~ Beginner's Wand - 108k Apprentice Wand - 200k Battlestaff - 7660 ~~Misc~~ Crystal Seed - 190k ********************** Here's my theory: Jagex was already checking the going rate of items automatically. The system just looked at trades then used an algorithm to a) get a baseline price on an item to gp B) use that baseline to determine price of items that normally were bartered such as rares. No, they did not just scan the forums, as it would require man power instead of computer power, and with computer power they could track trades over ALL the servers to get a real player based average price with completed trades. By the way, I bet this was one reason they did away with unids. Unids were messing up the algorithm since you get players buying Ranarrs at 1k each then selling them for much more. Now that's not the case with grimy herbs. Oh, and it'll be cool to see what the prices become after the Grand Exchange. So for now, let's see the results (as seen by Jagex) both before and after.
  4. Won't having an NPC to activate or deactivate PK anywhere mode just be asking for people to camp them to kill people? First, it'd have to be someone at or very near your level. Second, the area in and around Banks and certain areas will be considered Level 0 wild (safe zones). Third, considering Duke Horatio is AT a respawn spot (Lumbridge Castle), you're gonna be pretty stupid to camp at an area that players appear just inside of (and hope non-camping pkers don't take you out in the process). Look, I'm all for constructive criticism, but it looks like you didn't bother to read the suggestion before jumping to get your posts off.
  5. Well, what Hunter missed out on is including normal animals into the mix. Imagine being about to trap Unicorns for its horns (with rapid respawn), Bears, Monkeys, etc. for useful items. Now, looking at the graphics, it's possible Jagex will allow hunter to work on more mundane animals and use that in the summoning mix. So, will it be, use a remnant of said animal (you get remnant from hunting or combat) to summon it. Once summoned, the animal helps you in some task, be it a skill, combat, quest, or transport. Yes, I can see Hunter getting a little boost to assist the Summoning update. Wonder if other skills (like magic) will get the same treatment.
  6. Thanks for that, a similar problem happens in the RS wild. However, it was already covered in this suggestion seeing as you must talk to an NPC to activate or deactivate your PK anywhere mode.
  7. First, no, I don't know what the term "Bluewall" is. Please be kind to explain it then say how it applies to this suggestion. Second, if it is confusing, please explain how considering I was pretty darned detailed on how anyone not involved won't see a thing and people involved have different indicators. Third, upto to Jagex on that account. They seem like a pretty wily batch of programmers. It may be just a matter of getting a team on it. Fourth, obviously as a suggestion, maybe I'm saying that PK in the wild is lacking in something a PK anywhere can alleviate.
  8. It's a permanent skull until you decide you've had enough of PK anywhere. Then it's just a matter of talking to the Zammy Mage and a wait to get out of that mode. It's meant to prevent those that just want to window shop. Long enough to dissuade tourists and short enough so that you can then turn to more mundane areas of the game when you had your fill. I used 3 hours, but 1 hour can work just as well.
  9. **If you know of any, please post any Runescape Official Forum (RSOF) posts made by you or another that you believe became ingame content. Show the world that Jagex does actually listen to us from time to time** ~~ Updates Possibly Results of Player Suggestions ~~ Bank Pin (and Bank Pin for MTK and POH) Skill Capes Dark Bow (not sure on this, though attaching high drop to dark beasts was asked countless times) Construction and Farming (offshoots of Player Owned Houses suggestions that proliferated Suggestions forum) God Wars Dungeor (eeh, see below) Stun from thieving (used to enter combat prior) Mime mask/Beret combo (didn't even know they changed that) RFD Glove Names (claimed below) Runecrafting (was only drops in RSC) Wieldable Pickaxe Tele-other (claimed below) Technically, any guarenteed content poll means players picked it. Achievement Diaries (I think this was player initiated idea) ***************************** I did post this earlier somewhat humorously under the heading about a suggestion from 2006 (got moved to suggestions, naturally). So here's a redo. Anyway, in the RSOF, Mod Craddock has been maintaining stickied topics pertaining to suggestions of certain sorts. He forwards what he considers good suggestions to content development. Anyway, here's a couple of my suggestions that I think were used for game content. Now, these were posted in the High Level Content Sticky that was made around September 2006. That thread was discontinued earlier this year, but prior to that I saved all my suggestions that were posted to that thread. The first looks like it may have helped inspire the God Wars Dungeon ********************************************* Nuke Marine Edit View in thread 03-Oct-2006 19:44:50 Last edited on 03-Oct-2006 20:06:10 by Nuke Marine Level 80 combat armor (ie you need 80 defense to wear) has been touched upon. I'll provide my idea for Level 90 Armor and weapons. ~~Mahjarrat Final Battles~~ Thesis: The awakening of the Mahjarrat boils to a head. Their combat scars the face of Gilinear again creating new areas of the wilderness that even Zamarak itself may fear to tread. Follow blackened lands to hinder the Mahjarrat and their army of followers. Defeat of the Mahjarrat leads to claiming their armor, weapons and items as your own. Being immortal, it may take hundreds of defeats to claim all the items for yourself and finally introducing the Mahjarrat to that concept known as the true death. Land: North of the Wilderness proper is the new battlescarred landscape. Each area has an army of followers one must battle/sneak past to approach the Mahjarrat General. This area lacks any combat restrictions on battle of other players. Army: Mixture of NPC mages, rangers and fighters of all religious and racial blends (think the second to final chamber leading to the Dagganoth Kings), however there's commonality amoung the specific army of each Mahjarrat. Some armies are pitched in battles with each other while other parts hold defensive position against more powerful enemies (the players, heh heh). Mahjarrat Generals: Five or more (Jagex has the mythology set up) each with hisser own army. Though not powerful in the KQ sense of the word, with ability to attack with magic, melee and/or range proves a difficult challenge. In addition, heshe is protected by hisser faithful lieutenants. Taking down an Mahjarrat General will be a team effort in the dangerous multi-combat, no level wilderness. Drops: Level 90 armor and weapons of that particular Mahjarrat. Nuke Marine Edit View in thread 03-Oct-2006 19:45:00 Last edited on 03-Oct-2006 20:00:29 by Nuke Marine continued: Armor/Weapon Restrictions: Although Mahjarrat armor may be traded, you must defeat a Mahjarrat personnally (or have delivered the most damage) a number of times to rate to wear hisser armor/weapons/items. 2 defeats for helm, 5 defeats to wear helm/legs, 10 defeats to wear helm/legs/plate, 13 defeats to wear full armor and wield the weapon, etc. Armor that provide prayer bonuses have a minimum prayer level to wield/wear. I personally thought Verac's should have had a 70 prayer to wear, that's why I'm suggesting this. Benefits of Full Mahjarrat: Defeat of Mahjarrat enough times to wield its full armor, in addition to wearing its full armor offers a unique benefit: You can replace the Mahjarrat as the general of the army. So long as you're the only Player with the prerequisites and full Mahjarrat, the NPC Mahjarrat does not attack you and you can interact with its liuetenants to attack specific other armies. In addition, the liuetenants protect you while in the General's area against attack by other players (unless another player also has Full Mahjarrat). Two fold benefit of being King of the Hill, and assisting your team in their defeat of another Mahjorrat. This may be too complicated to implement fully. Full Mahjarrat also gives special attacks, dependant upon Jagex's interpretation of what Mahjarrat does what. ********************************************* Well, obviously I said inspired (typos and lack of ingame mythology knowledge abound). The GWD doesn't take place in the wild, does not involve any armor drops or King of the Hill type mini-game. In addition, I posted it after Enrahka's Lament, which mentioned battles in the wilderness so it's likely all that GWD was on the table prior to this suggestion. The next deals with the axe you make in quest to chop down the tree by draynor manor. ************************ Nuke Marine Edit View in thread 07-Nov-2006 03:03:49 Last edited on 07-Nov-2006 03:06:40 by Nuke Marine ~~The Dark Tree~~ Level 80, to keep it seperate from magic trees only those with 80 slayer know how to attack the tree to get the logs (the dark-axe has a 80 slayer, 81 woodcutting pre-req to use, 80 attack to wield). Found only in the swamps of Morytania. Yeah, yeah, I'm trying my combo-skill idea more and more. I'm adding to the idea posited by Hellsing by the way. *********************************** The silver bladed axe came out soon afterwards. I'm not sure if it was coincidence, or somebody liked the idea of using slayer skill on a tree. Mod Craddock commented on liking that idea. Anyway, seeing that the suggestion stickies have been up for nearing a year, has anyone noticed that more and more player suggestions are being utilized. More importantly, since it is in a sticky, can you offer up the proof. Obviously, something lost to page 50 makes for difficult proof. By the way, Skill Capes were a direct result of a player suggestion.
  10. Close please, I'll redo in a better format for General Discussion. It was not meant as a suggestion, but as a "did Jagex use a suggestion" type thread.
  11. I'm pretty sure Jagex already was automatically checking the prices of items via monitored trades. It's easy to see when it's one type of item for cash only or item for item. Putting that information through an algorithm can quickly determine the average price for any item in the game. Going off forums (official or fan) is idiotic is it is not a guarentee of end purchase. The Grand Exchange however can show EVERYONE, not just Jagex, what the real value of items are in game. Going off that, I doubt you'll be able to know who's buying or selling any item. You MUST buy at the cheapest price and if you're selling to a want ad you must sell to the guy offering the most for that item. That said, yes, I hope Jagex offers players choice on "Save on Death" to be set to either game prices or Grand Exchange average.
  12. You're alcing the bowls on site I pressume so it's not necessary to note them even if you could.
  13. This is still a viable suggestion, so I'm bumping it.
  14. With the fact Jagex did LootShare on limited servers, it shows that this idea is viable in that regard. Think it'll happen in the future?
  15. Let's think of this mathematically: Gold ore can sell for 500 each. So 10k gold ore can be either 5 million gp or 710k smithing xp. Using 5k natures (300 each) nets you 120 gp profit so a net loss of 380 gp for some 71 smith and 70 something mage xp. Granted, with 12 smithing clicks and 12 high alcs, it will be a bit time consuming but not much. Now, 5 million gp can purchase 5550 mith ore (500 each) and 11100 coal (200 each). Unnoting mith and coal at the furnace (fastest smithing method) cost a bit but I don't know the number off hand. It will net you 80 xp per bar after you smelt then smith (44.4k xp) and less return on bars. Obviously here, the gold wins out assuming the unnoting is not too costly (world hopping for the gold wastes too much time). So, should you mine the gold? Here, I'd if you're gonna mine, mine either coal or iron. 5 iron will get you 1 gold. You'll get 500 iron much faster than you'll ever get 100 gold. In addition, you get more xp. Many teleports put you by the best iron mine in the game. For coal, use the lyre or house teleport to goto the 7 coal in Fremminick. Anyway, great post. Using the blast furnace world with your own stock of gold and unnoting on site could make for fast smithing xp. The cost won't be that high either.
  16. It's been over a year since I posted this and the it's still viable. With the GE coming out at the end of the month, it may change profits of this system.
  17. For the guide to be best, list second and third best choices if they're good alternatives. For example, the Shilo furnace may be closest, but the Port Phantasmys is easiest for lower levels to access. Sometimes, you may want to include the teleport that gets you closer, when combo'd with a close bank teleport it makes for the best route. For example, air altar is closest to a bank, but the fire altar is closest to a teleport (duel ring). Granted, that would mean that this would be a "Quickest way from a bank to ___________ and back" guide. Player Owned House - Yanille; House Teleport, Duel Ring Gold rocks - Edgeville to fairy ring, fairy ring to Holy Grail castle, Whistle to Karamja Tower, goto gold rocks, Glory to Edgeville. Green Dragons - Ancients to Graveyard, north to Greens, Glory to Edge. Blue Dragons - Duel to Gameroom, run to Heroes basement, duel to bank. Zogres - Duel to Castlewars, south to Zogres. Just some examples.
  18. Here's a couple of tips as I leveled my smithing almost solely at the Blast Furnace when it came out. You can use runners and make a profit. When you hit 70 smithing, you can make addy bars there at 1 ore and 3 coal and trade it for 1 ore and 6 coal on f2p worlds. That 3 coal profit per bar means using runners you get 75 coal per trip (15k) so just pay 10k per runner trip. With 2 runners and some logistics, you can constantly be smithing bars. Tiring, but profitable and great for leveling. At 88 smithing, you can do something better. Character on run, get on Blast Furnace world without jerks that buy out the coal (so it's very cheap to unnote), smith addy bars then plates, high alchemy, return to bank for more. You'll make 4 plates per trip which is 2k xp smithing (bit more actually). Should be able to run all the time (2 minute to bank and back). You spend 32k on ore and coal but make 30.6k back in alchemy. Great cost to xp ratio there and fast.
  19. He's saying that Runescape is releasing too many items that are being used in PvP combat but cannot be looted. Achievement capes, lunar armor, defenders, barrow gloves, etc all assist in PvP combat yet cannot be looted if you kill the player using them. I made a similar rant on the main forums. I'm not a pker, but I can see that this is not fair to pkers. The solution seems simple, that these items that have an inherent value (you have to pay to get them anyway) convert into an untradable note that has an alchemy value. Untradable items are cool in that it shows accomplishment. However, it is Runescape and the wild is known for its hard death rules. Should not be much effort to find balance to give reward if you kill a player with expensive untradable items on.
  20. Serious appologies all around. I began this thread 10 days prior to my move to Japan and did not even get back to it. I WILL be updating the votes now. Thanks for the front page mention.
  21. Just depends on who sees it. Posting in the high level content probably enhanced its visibility over a standard post in suggestions that dies in 10 hours. I'm just not able to be on to upkeep a suggestion like that. The trace metal probably works because Jagex already has the concept in play with gems. The potential feasibility is apparent immediately. The NPC idea, well, it would mean Jagex acknowledging a player exploit. I argue they've already done that with the butlers so this is an extension of that. Sure, it just means you'll get player runners that will charge less. However, I think many will prefer NPC runners for the convenience. Anyone that's dealt with noob runners (the begging, talkative type) probably will like a computer character instead. PS: Anyone here want to wager that the 99 skill cap will be removed next year?
  22. It just depends. Flax and coal you can resell for best profit. Maples sell well but the big draw is in the seeds and nests. The beauty of MTK is you decide how best to approach it. Many are deciding just to gather items they'll use ingame. So some are getting herbs and coal that way they don't have to mess with merchanters. That's part of the reason I think Jagex can enhance MTK by offering more choices. Pure essence, cow hides, and seaweed in addition to maybe iron, oaks, planked opitions will help a player that wants to advance levels but not deal with merchanters and their tacked on prices.
  23. I listed only what people voted for. I deleted it later, seeing as it wasn't an "update" that jagex did. Who in the right mind pays cash to auto dragons?
  24. Poll updated. I like the results. Some other good, unmentioned updates, I think can be the Knowledge Base update, Player art gallery update
