  1. No, there's no map like this on the main site (yet). I had hoped they'd make an interactive map with the satellite view in addition to the regular map. Not useful mind you, just cool. Sometimes cool is good. Slightly off topic, but don't you like the satellite maps of the dungeons that show the EXACT respawn locations of all the monsters? Well, the monsters you're able to make out against the gray on gray.
  2. Here's my math: Payment to runner - 7k gp (yeah, I posted 5k but 7k brings quality runners) Payment to unnote 69 coal - 1280 gp Total out of pocket - 8280 gp per 23 bars. Say I smelted 2300 addy bars, that's 828k gp spent out of pocket. Trade 2300 bars for 2300 addy ore and 6900 coal (what you smelted) and 6900 profit coal. Sell profit coal for 200 each (again, depends on the market but can be upto 225 each). That's 1.38 Mill or 210k profit. Notice that the profit was WAY down because I paid 7k a run. However, why would runners do a 2 minute run for 5k if there's better cash at the law world? Have to meet the market demands. Ultimately, so long as cost per trade and smelting is 13,800 gp you break even. Say I higher a worker (2k per smelting) so that I can bring on a third runner and accomplish 50 trades an hour. I'd still make 2500 gp a trade. That would be 43k smithing xp/hour plus 125k gp profit an hour. It's just complicated, requires 70 smithing, and a coordinated team that you're paying.
  3. Nope, they don't have to help it just speeds up their turn arounds. The more efficient the team, the faster the bars get traded. When you're smelting 700 to 1000 bars an hour, you find it's chaotic enough to make it interesting. Plus, as the team only needs to be 3 or 4 guys, you can choose the pick of the litter. Some moron keeps messing up? Just don't use him. The runners like it as it's very good cash, with little to no waiting. Granted, you're only making 30k to 40k an hour smithing xp. Still, that you're doing that and turning in a profit has to be an upside.
  4. Oh, if you were smelting adamant or runite ores the blast furnace is still the best place in the game. It is almost as fast solo as when you're using the furnace at port phantasmys. Take 100k gp, 1k noted coal, hammer, and 25 adamant ore. Goto the furnace, put addy ore on belt, unnote 75 coal and put onto belt (cost about 2k gp to unnote 75 coal with 100 coal in the store) [you can also sell coal till 250 coal is in the store, then buy out all 250 to put into the furnace and use that for 3 trips]. Bike all the ore in, put in 8 shovels of coke, run the furnace for 30 pumps at which time bars are ready. Get bars and head back to bank. Round trip is about 5 minutes. Now, try to smelt 25 adamant ore at port phantasmys. Time yourself. You need 6 trips which takes about 5 minutes total (and takes twice as much coal). Using superheat, you'll do it slightly faster but the cost in natures adds up. Overall, whether doing the runner method I posted (which is meant to let you profit fast while getting decent xp) or just walking to the blast furnace, it's still the superior method in RS. Just few realize it.
  5. Sadly, my thread on this was locked on the Suggestions forum, but I resubmitted it after a customer service request. ********************************************** Tott Paula Forum Mod 10-Oct-2006 00:32:35 Thank you for your suggestion, however this idea has been suggested many times before. There is a list of the most suggested ideas in the Forum Specific Rules sticky, at the top of this page. If you have another idea that is not on that list, please feel free to post it here. Tott Paula Forum Mod 10-Oct-2006 01:02:55 Only the "most" suggested topics are on that list, but I have personally witnessed many suggestions of re-using, melting down, or re-smithing armour. Jagex already has input on this suggestion. Thanks. **************************************************** Customer service said posts not in the sticky or against the rules are ok, so I reposted it.
  6. Yes, it's an old post. However, as I'm pushing a suggestion about a Dwarf Recycling Center, I thought I'd show this how-to guide again. Anyone ever try this? I feel it works great even now.
  7. There's absolutely no practical use. The interactive map by Jagex and those on Tip.it have much more use. This is just one of those "I was bored, and I wanted Jagex to release it" sort of things. So I copied various maps from the knowledged base, resized them, then put them together on a normal map.
  8. EDIT: Stripped to link due to size - Ard http://i12.tinypic.com/4c1rurk.jpg Ugly as sin, but it's what we can expect if Jagex ever gives us a downloaded version of the Satellite maps for all of Runescape.
  9. This was a fun thread to make. Think it should be moved to help and advice, or guides forum?
  10. The biggest problem with your "Raise 2%, lower 1%" prayers is abuse. Pkers will train on npc building up his str to certain level, potion his attack back to normal. Now it's a matter of keeping his prayer active until time to fight. That can be done at an altar until he's pm'd that targets are in sight, he teleports near the site and prepares to truly devastate within 2 or 3 hits. The other prayers are cool. However the biggest problem with prayers are that the boosting prayers drain too fast. It should balanced with super pots in draining speed. In other words, using +15% prayer and 4 dose prayer pot should keep my attack boosted for the same length of time as using 4 dose super attack.
  11. Posted in Official Forums Suggestions Quick find code: 24-25-492-32529561 ~~~Dwarf Recycling Center~~~ Another Keldagrim mini-game. Players with 60+ smithing (lower level smithers may pay to use) can help run the Dwarf Recycling center. Using weapon and armors on this machine can retrieve usable material to forge new bars. The efficiancy of this machine is so high, you can retrieve 60% of the bars used to constuct the armor or weapons you're recycling. Example: Use 5 adamant platemail on the machine and your character can retrieve 15 adamant bars. Skill gains: You get the forging experience you'd get for per each bar you recycle. Side benefit: reduces use of high alchemy. Limits: You may only recycle material you are actually able to make (no recycling rune plates if you're only 75 smithing). Theories: Have a "bar runner" dwarf that'll bank your bars you've recycled to your bank for a fee. This allows players to stock up many platemail and shields and legs in their bank to "recycle" later. As 25 legs create 45 bars, this would save a bank trip to bank the bars. Additionally, a bank could be located near the recycling center to speed up skill leveling. Benefits to High Levelers: Smithing 100 Adamant Platemail gives 33k xp and takes about 20 minutes (100k xp an hour average). These would normally be alc'd for 768k gp, but instead they can be recycled for 300 adamant bars (and 12k xp from operating the recycler). Player then uses 300 bars to make 60 Adamant Platemail, etc. Recycling the adamant platemail in theory creates 250 bars per 100 addy ore and 600 coal (300 using the blast furnace). This encourages smithing armor and weapons, saving armor and weapons, BUYING armor and weapons from F2P smithers. Such a mini-game will truly boost the smithing skill in the member community and f2p. Mining as always will be the bottleneck. However, minor weapons and armor like medium helms, shortswords and knives (especially rune) can now be recycled to create much better items. 10 Rune knives (alc's for 50k total) can be recycled in 6 runite bars that makes 3 rune kites for 64k alchemy. As always, the 60% retrieval can be tweaked by Jagex for balancing purposes. In addition, Coal can be used to increase the cost for further balancing. How Mini-game could work: ~~NPC's~~ Supervisor - explains the game Runner - can be paid to take your bars to your bank. Coal Supply Clerk - will unnote coal for you at a cost of 20 gp per noted coal Armor/Weapons Supply Clerk - will unnote armor and weapons at 10% low alchemy cost of item per note. ~~Areas of Recycler~~ Chute - Player deposits armor and weapons here Bike - Moves deposits to crusher Crusher - Reduces deposits to little smeltable bits Coal Furnace - Player deposits coal here to heat the smelter, upto 255 coal may be stored here. Bar Deposit - Metal is spewed out here into molten bars. Use buckets of water to cool it down. Player places item in shoot (upto a certain amount that creates 28 bars), peddles past crushers (possible two man job, peddler and crusher), metal chunks then are placed in the smelter. Another variant can keep it a solo effort. In addition, coal can be used for the smelter based upon what bars are being created (similar to blast furnace).
  12. One of the experiments is a "Spider-Man" Another is a wolf in sheep's clothing The level 51 is a Great Dame.
  13. Good reasons all around.
  14. I posted what I had written when my connection was getting wonky. I finished up some more overthinking. Guess I could add a point that should I sell these items (gold, seaweed, bones, hides, molten glass, runes) or use them for leveling skills?
  15. So, with Lunar Spell set, Crafting Gauntlets, house set to Brimhaven, anyone think that Gold makes for a versatile training device? Imagine: Mine 10k gold (ok, that's the hard part as you could buy it for 500 each too) for 600k mining xp With crafting gauntlets, smelt 10k gold bars for 560k smithing xp. Craft 10k gold amulets for 300k crafting xp. Cast string amulet on those 10k for 440k mage xp and 40k crafting xp. Sell 10k amulets for 350k gp at store or cast high alchemy for 2100k gp. Eh, I'm overthinking this. Back to world hopping for seaweed and soda ash I guess. World hop at Charter Boat shop near catherby. Buy 10k Seaweed and Soda ash (upto 30 per hop) Get 10k buckets of sand (Bert, manually collect, or buy at 150 each from players) Superglass make 13k molten glass (you get bonus glass per spell, how nifty), casting spell 770 times for ??? magic xp and ??? crafting xp. Craft 13k orbs for 680k crafting xp. Enchant 13k air orbs for 988k mage xp. World hop at Varrock Staff shop for battlestaffs, craft on location, high alc on location. 13k air staffs nets ??? crafting xp and 845k mage xp. Nope, still overthinking this. Back to killing Green Dragons. Use graveyard ancient teleport and house tablets, kill 120 green dragons an hour, bank bones and hides. After 100 hours, you'll have 12k hides and bones to get 4.2 million prayer xp and 670k crafting xp. Oh, and lots of combat xp. Still overthinking this. Eh, guess I'll stick with the thieving pyramid and get 100k+ xp an hour thieving there.
  16. Although this belongs in the help and advice forums, I'll say the best place to mine iron if you have Ardougne teleport is the iron/coal mine northeast of Ardy and south of Legends. Just my opinion, as I like to bank my iron (I use glory to bank then tele back). If you're just going to drop the iron, use the iron mine east of Relleka by the cave going to Keldagrim.
  17. I made a new account for testing purposes when an Official Forums member was gathering data for perfecting the combat level calculator. I sometimes used it to get data on speed training for low levels. So reason to make a new account: Gathering Data
  18. Prices won't be affected. Some prefer to pick flax, spin it on the way to the bank, then bank it. Some just prefer to pick flax. Only change are those that buy flax to spin themselves. They've no reason to decrease their prices if it sells in ENOURMOUS bulk even now. Slightly faster spinning won't change it. I'm suprised that Bowstrings are 180 though. Really, 80 gp as a reward for spinning flax that gives you experience to boot? Felt it was fair at 1.5x the cost of flax, but that was me.
  19. Jon, there are two reasons to world hop to sell that I know about: Tokkul and Trading sticks. There may be others, but none come to mind. True, if it's not worth alchemying, you may just want to sell the lot on forums for someone bored enough to sell the items to the store for profit. Baba Yaga has one MAJOR downside: her costs increase 10x the amount of any other rune store. Her "bouncing" I did not notice, but I guess that could be a downside.
  20. Not a guide, although it may become one later. Post where you like to hop, the tactics you use hopping, and the benefits you get from it. Runescape has locations that have slow respawn, yet with a quick jump to another server you'll find the item you're collecting higher than the 0 in stock you left on another server. Here are some common areas I think world hopping is popular to exploit. ~~Battlestaffs~~ Worldhop locations - Varrock Staff Shop, Mage Guild, Baba Yaga on Lunar Island Costs - 7k to ??k Bulk Price - ??k Benefit - Battlestaffs made into elemental battlestaffs that alc for 9.3k each Downside - Only 5 per shop, allowing only 1k to 2k profit per staff. ~~Element Runes~~ Worldhop locations - Port Sarim Magic Shop, Varrock Magic Shop, Magic Guild Costs - 4 to 24 Bulk Price - 15 to 20 Benefit - upto 5k in stock Downside - airs normally bought down so that profit not so high. ~~Combat Runes~~ Worldhop locations - Port Sarim(Chaos and Death only), Varrock Magic Shop (Chaos and Death only), Mage Guild, Baba Yaga, Wilderness Bank, Al Morrisane Costs - 92 to 112 Chaos, 200 to 225 death, 400 to 500 bloods Bulk Price - 150 Chaos, 300 Deaths, 600 Bloods Benefit - Cheap enough to justify for own use Downside - 250 max in stock ~~Other Runes~~ See combat runes for locations ~~Vials~~ Worldhop Locations - Ardougne General Store, Shilo Village store, Taverly Herb store Costs - 15 gp (verify?) Bulk Price - 150 to 200 Benefit - MUCH faster than crafting, sells well in bulk Downside - low stocks, low profit margin ~~Seaweed/Soda Ash~~ Worldhop Locations - any charter ship pier (Catherby is best) Costs - 5 gp Bulk Price - 500 Benefit - 30 items when maxed, making for good profit Downside - all stores connected, easily sold out ~~Runite~~ Worldhop Locations - Heroes Guild, ME2 cave, Wilderness Costs - N/A Bulk Price - 12k to 15k Benefit - Pure profit from rocks Downside - SLOW (10 to 15 min) respawn, dangerous or crowded world hopping ~~Blast Furnace~~ Worldhop Locations - Keldagrim Blast Furnace Costs - Varied, Mith 225 to 675, Coal 67 to 200, Iron 20 to 60, Silver 100 to 300, Gold 200 to 600 Bulk Price - Mith 500, Coal 200, Iron 100, Silver 300, Gold 500 Benefits - Many world hop here to make mith or steel plates and high alchemy on site as the oar is cheaper to buy and smelt here than from other players. Others make mith bars and bank them. Still others may buy the gold and silver which sell at a profit Downside - 2 to 4 minute trip to bank and back. Ore gets pricey as stock decreases. Side Benefit: Solo'ing the blast furnace, using the store to unnote coal, one can smelt and bank Mithril, Adamant and Runite bars faster than using the Port Phantasmys furnace or even superheat. Players can "store" upto 255 coal in the blast furnace. These are the ones that come to mind for me. Post your own world hopping exploits. Maybe we can get a guide together?
  21. True, but I assume you've gotten 9 million from other players by selling the items you got from Miscellania? It's a money sink, but a money sink that returns your investment from other players. Same goes with Barrows and Crystal Bow. You may spend cash upkeeping the items, but I assume that by using them you end up with more cash and xp than when you started.
  22. Here are my recommended changes to Construction: 1. House Locations have Quest Requirements. Relleka needs the Freminick Quest, Yanille the Watchtower Quest, Polliveneach the Feud Quest. 2. Better Teleportals/Directors for Better Teleports - Low level teleports need only Teak Portal and Limestone directors. Higher teleports (Watchtower, Kanafis) needs Marble Portal and Scrying pools. 3. Farm Patch - Can build ONE farming patch, Servant acts as a gardner you can pay to watch. Higher levels means better type patches. 4. House Teleports - Option in house menu to determine Outside, Inside Normal, Inside Build mode when you teleport to your house. Bound to be very popular. 5. Quest Hall - Need items to show completions of Desert Treasure, Legends, Monkey Madness, RFD, Mournings End Pt II. 6. Skill Hall - Needs items to display skill accomplishments in more skills. 7. Bedroom/Seats - Can be used to recover energy to 100% (Great for rune runners, eh?) 8. Bankable Furniture!!!! - This is a biggee. You spend 25 Million on a Demon Throne, you should be able to save that item if you change location of your thrown rooms. Allow items to become non-tradable flatpacks for temporary storage so you don't have to rebuild an item just to relocate rooms.
  23. Why Full Verac? A friend used Slayer Dart exclusively on them (he took about 7k casts per trip), getting good mage xp and covering the cost of the trip with the armor he made from the drops. Granted, if Full Veracs can kill them fast, then I'm all for it.
  24. I like how I was "mugged" by the monk for wearing armor. So even if you can get armor on the island, you may not be able to stay on the island for long. Still, for those starting new characters, it's a way to get Addy level armor down to the Greater Demons.
  25. It may not be a bug. If it's on the 8th level, it could be a thank you to the 91+ level thieves. Guess we'll find out when someone posts the reply to the bug report later.
