Prayer Drain has increased. ((Update)) Need Tester!!! @@
Gonpost, Wow I forgot even replying to that thread. Good flashback as your research is the type I like to do. Gather the numbers, crunch them, spit out something useful others can benefit. I haven't gone Green Dragon hunting in awhile. I have not noticed a decrease in the prayer drain. Usually rumors like that start with a moron (yes, I'm using the term correctly) posting that it "feels" like its faster, or slower, or not as often or whatever. Problem is they never tracked results so they're going off anecdotal evidence. Others jump on the bandwagon. I do have an active Rant in the official forums. It's complaining about the lack of Ranger and Mages armor with prayer bonuses. Below it, I add that boosting prayers drain far too fast to be used by players. If enough rant or suggest it, perhaps Jagex will alter prayer to make the combat boosters slower to drain (like being a 20 instead of a 60 drain). Granted, if the non-protect prayers become popular due to improvement, Jagex should alter the Prayer symbol in the selection menus to "Blink" every time prayer drops. Perhaps show your current prayer count too?

What's Wrong With This Picture
Should be pretty obvious how I did it. Yes, I could have armed my secateurs but forgot. Variation on people that have taken dragonhide to etrania and crafted it. However, don't walk around too long. Read the message in the chat box.

20 September 2006 - Slug Menace - Rough Quest Guide Now Up!!
Hmm, wonder if it's possible to get this harness onto etrania and bypass the weapons rule? Will it work on Kochi the Deathless too? Hopefully, Jagex plugged all the loopholes ahead of time.

Remember When...
I remember when I got hooked on RS via Miniclip (Oct. 2004) I remember leveling my stats on rats (the ones that don't show up on radar) I remember getting owned by those mages by the willow trees at Draynor. I remember Jagex increasing f2p bank space to 6 lines (I think). I remember making a fortune off herblore, taking a santa hat in trade for 250k worth of herbs. I remember when I followed a green dot around on the radar asking the guy why it was green. I remember when I could make 400k an hour profit using the cannon and net 70k range xp to boot. Now it's only 300k profit. I remember when Rune Stores stocked 5k of all runes, and the chaos of a server reset at the Mage guild (can't prove it, but I had an active rant on official with 500+ posts against this, and was active when the change occured) I remember when Range owned the wild (They had cheap level 70 armor with only 40 def to wear, 4 long distance rapid hit specials). I remember when the metal dragons killed people in Camalot and Edgeville. I remember when Crystal Bows were considered pointless. In all honesty, I regret not putting my excess cash in rares like santas and red masks. They're easy to resell when you need the cash.

Post a pic of your house layout here
I know it's an old post, but seeing that it's been a couple of months, perhaps more have made a layout they'd like to show off?

whats the rarest item which isn't a rare???
what his name??? Ill give him a whip 4 those ashes You know, a LARGE collection of items could be a valuable commodity in those that like rare things, even if of a common item. I've seen people collect chef hats and imp beads. Considering the nigh impossibility of getting a collection of 1 million chef hats, how much would a person trade for such a collection?

"Official" Worlds for Whatever
I don't think there's an official Pest Control world anymore. It's now like a floating market of high levels.

Anti-Luring or Annoy the Noob Pkers
Yep, report them during your private chat. That the lurer is claiming he's buying something without the cash or items in his inventory is good proof he's scamming. So he gets attacked and probably gets a black mark in time.

Pyramid Plunder Guide Someone posted a very good guide to Pyramid Plunder already.

:: Pyramid Plunder Guide - Fastest Experience ::
First, it's a great guide. Here's my strategies: ~Getting There~ As you listed House Teleport (set to Pollivneach): I use this for now Camulet Scepter: I'll use this when I get it ~Inventory~ 2 pots Super Anti-poison 22 Monkfish (sharks, strawberries, Sara pots!!!) I wear monk top and bottom and god book (make prayer last longer) I like anti-poison as it lasts the entire run, in addition it saves food you'd lose to poison damage so it's very worth it. I use prayer when scarabs appear or rogue mummy. Like above, I do not carry lockpicks or flutes. ~Tactics~ Use 2 or 3 men, hey you all end the run at the same time even if different level. With more guys, you find the correct door quicker to the next level. Goto room below highest room you can achieve to start thieving. Thieve urns till 1/2 to 1/3 time is remaining. I do not search for snakes, I just click on urns to search. It's much faster after expermentation. I only try to save the gold items (currently have 100 of them banked). Before heading for final room, I check the center chest with 1 spot open in inventory (it's usually a gold item). If scarabs appear, I put on prayer and head to next room. Thieve urns till 1 block remains on time (I'm usually done by then anyway). Open an inventory spot and thieve the center chest, then thieve urns till you're kicked out. With this, at 76 thieving, I get above 10k xp per run consistently. My super anti-poison and monkfish usually wear out at the same time. I also have about 16 gold items by then also. Now if only I can get a stupid scepter.

How efficiently does the Dev team work?
It's amazing people actually think that updates are worked on only for a week prior to release. As stated above, you'll have a develop team working on a various update, with one guy possibly devoting time to other updates as well. An update could take minutes, hours, days (for quick fixes and tweaks), weeks or months. As the update approaches release, more of Jagex staff quality controls the update (many, many more employees test it out) to find out any kinks that slipped through during programming. Finally, it gets the ultimate quality control, us. 500k+ players slam an update for all its worth at times, which reveal any hidden bugs fairly quickly at times. That's why it's important to submit proper bug reports and not just post about it on forums. I'm very impressed with their company structure. When this game goes multi-lingual with servers in Japan, Russia, China, India, and Romance language European countries it's gonna be a huge money maker. Sadly, these countries are known for their bots so Jagex is gonna get slammed hard also. It'll be great. Update a week (with the rare skip week) is still impressive. It keeps me playing.

Anti-Luring or Annoy the Noob Pkers
The saddest part is that these lures probably work enough times to justify in the minds of the lurers to risk banning by attempting it. Very sad. I've yet to be scammed seriously. I've never been scammed in the wild (though I may have fallen for the 4 mystic item drop early on if it happened to me). Moral I guess is if people played smarter (at least those with something to lose), then scammers would have no income base.

A mathematical approach to the crystal bows (UPDATED v1.2)
I meant the any combat bonus is not linear in benefit. I tried this out on steel dragons. I altered my mage bonus from 0, +30 and +90 attacking steels for over 1k shots each bonus level. The benefits did not linearly improve, it was more a curve. Would take serious research to determine how bonuses impact the combat chances. The range bonus of the Crystal bow decays linearly though (4 per level), so that's cool.

A mathematical approach to the crystal bows (UPDATED v1.2)
First off for full disclosure I did the guide on Rune HQ. 1. Your approach to bonus benefits: We don't know how a +30 range affects accuracy anymore than a +0 range bonus. It's not linear, I know that much from testing out mage bonuses. 2. Damage: My postings on damage throughout the decay states was inaccurate. Even at 1/10, a crystal bow hits close to 25% your range skill. 3. Decay States: Many that use the Crystal bow utilizes the decay switch. That means you're using 90% of the arrows at Full Charged state. 4. Cost: I consider the first 4 charges of the bow paying for the bow itself in addition to the arrows. You pay 5k for a mage bow, but you're paying 1.8 million for the crystal bow and 720k for the first 10k shots. That's assuming you don't recharge the crystal shield instead, then you're paying even less for the bow. 5. Hidden Benefit: Hard to guage, but you can take a crystal bow out in the wild to range dragons. Trying that with rune arrows risks losing valuably ammo to pkers. With the Crystal Bow you keep the ammo and the bow. In addition, you can get your ammo very quickly. Finding 3k Rune Arrows can be a bit more time consuming than recharging 6 crystal seeds to full bows.

My Miscellania Reward...From over a month.
Here's my couple of pics to contribute. It's from about 42 days (3.225 Mill gp), although popularity dropped now and again. Figure about a 5 mill profit. It's not much, but it helps.

Any high lvls that refuse or cant get a fire cape?273 names!
Not going to do it until there's a way to retrieve the cape in event of loss that's not going back through the fight caves again. I've a good connection, and good stats and good bank roll to do the job, just not interested in an item difficult to get and easy to lose.

Anti-Luring or Annoy the Noob Pkers
So far, a few times people tried to lure me. None of them was I stupid enough to ACTUALLY bring all my money anywhere near the wild or some other dangerous areas. But it makes me wonder how you handle the Lures? 1. Ignore them - very basic, but they must expect it. 2. Report them - This is great. Ensure you have them in chat saying what they want to buy and the location they want you at. Normally, lurers don't have the money for the purchase increasing the evidence they were attempting to scam you. YES, LURING IS REPORTABLE AS ITEM SCAMMING per Jagex. 3. Annoy them - The Lumbridge dungeon lure is easy to annoy them as they expect you to start getting bug bites in time. They can't see you're carrying a Bullseye Lantern. When they don't trade, report them again for item scamming if a minute passed. 4. Hurt them - based on the two types of lures I experienced. The "I'm at the prayer guild" lure and the "I'm at the Edgeville Bridge" lure. I report them from their chats. Then I wear Black top and bottom, MSB with 20 rune arrows, ddp++, and some food. For the prayer guild, he may have a partner for the "tag team" so bring a friend your level with no items to tie up the partner. Now, I arm my bow, put on special attack, auto-retaliate. On my prayer I select hawk-eye and melee protect. I run to the guild, the lurer attacks and gets wallopped fast. If he closes in, I switch to ddp++ and get couple more specials on him. For the bridge it's more dangerous as it's multi-combat and you'll have 2+ guys on you. I go expecting to die. Same tactics as above, but again bring a buddy your level as that's the levels you'll be fighting. One ice barraged me while the other ran up and did ddp++, so it's particularly nasty sort of lure. They try to be smart and have the sap trade you (who then messages the partners to attack while you're weak). Here's what I do there, I trade, cancel trade, activate my prayers. By then the pkers have a hardened target. The bridge lurer is tricky to report. They usually have a low level sap message you as the lurer. The real lurers claim they're "honest pkers" taking advantage of two noobs trading out in the wild. I still report their names if it's within a minute of combat. Once, the "sap" had 2k deaths and 2k laws on him (my guess is to claim he had items for trade). Being at level 1 wild means he risks very little unless a pure pker jumps him. I hate scammers. They know the rules, have no problem breaking them, then cry like babies when they get caught. Sure, they'll laugh at the ones they scam, but gods forbid they should lose something through their own actions. Lurers are the laziest. No better than the trimming scammer and password scammer. They give real pkers bad names.

Statistically, How Good Are the Defense Skill and Bonuses
**edit** Due to interest, here's what you can do to help. Goto duel arena with a friend, have LOTS of food (chocalate cake is VERY easy thanks to thieving in Ardougne and Chocolate in the RFD food chest) in the bank to speed up the process. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING EQUIPPED! One of you will be the attacker (with Kicking), the other is defender. Attack the other for upwards of 1 hour. Count total number of hits and Red Splats. Food just keeps the combat going without having to start the combat over. Post: Attackers ATK level, Defenders DEF level, Total number of attacks (MUST be 500+), Total number of red splats. Also post the attackers max damage when kicking. Example: 40 Atk, 60 Def, 800 kicks, 320 red splats, 9 max damage. Since you're there, trade sides and let the other guy be the attacker and report that if you wish. **END EDIT** Don't we all REALLY want to know this? How good does a 70 DEF stack up against a 70 ATK in a boxing match? What's the equivalent defense of a guy with 40 DEF and Full Rune armor? So here's my question: Who would be interested in doing testing to truly determine the benefit of Def and Def bonuses against Atk and Atk bonuses? Using the duel arena and lots of food, you could figure out alot. First things first - Baseline Using just kicks, determine chance of successfully attacking a person. Preferably use 500 to 1000 kicks. 10 Atk - 10 Def, 20 Atk - 20 Def ..... 70 Atk - 70 Def This needs to be done to determine of Atk versus Def is even. You'd think it's 50% but has it ever been tested? Against a 40 Def - 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 Atk. Using a 40 Atk - 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 Def. This shows the statistic curve against varying levels. With the baseline, you then can determine impact of Bonuses on combat chances. Why bother? Well, don't you want to know if using a dragon mace versus a guy in platemail really is worth the hastle? In addition, with these numbers, you can determine the true defense of monsters. If you're hitting a Daggonoth Supreme 20% of the time with 81 atk and +102 atk bonus, you can use a chart to tell exactly what the Dagg Primes melee defense really is. You'd think after 2 years, something like a To Hit Percentage Chart would have been developed. I'm sure others have tried, but why isn't it done yet?

-Best thing found in general store-
1 Bill you say? Let's do the math. Say you have 99 friends in your clan buying this ess. That's 2600 ess per trip (assuming you're all using Ardy Teleport). Each trip takes about 2 minutes. So after 385 THOUSAND trips, your clan bought all 1 bill pure ess. So for 534 days your clan of 100 were buying pure ess at the Karamja store eh? Next time you lie to be cute, don't use silly examples. ******************************* Best thing I found in the store, usually just gems and high level ore. Nothing of interest that I recall. Although when I'm training firemaking at the Lumby general store, it's really cool when you find yew logs in stock there.

Construction pictures (warning: lots of images)
This thread is "Guide Worthy". Knowing Jagex, once Tip.It posts a guide about it, then Jagex will add photos of the items to their knowledge base. Not a bad thing mind you.
-
Do you think anybody will ever get all skills to 200mil xp?
Here's some future things that could happen that will alter the nature of this discussion: 1. Better training methods: The pyramid upped the thieving rate to 150k per hour, monkfish upped fishing to 45k per hour, etc. Jagex will always be releasing better training methods, sure to tick off the "old skoolers" that did it the hard way first. 2. Skill cap raised: With that, there's incentive to go above 99. 3. Experience cap raised: With that, the discussion becomes moot. 4. Cheaper training methods: Construction and Prayer cost about 6 to 10 gp per skill point even assuming you use the efficient methods. Smithing has similar costs involved until you get upto 99 smithing. Let's face it, without Cook-X, someone getting 200 mill cooking may not have occured yet.

29/08/06 - Demons, dragons and giants
I'm impressed with how many think this is an outstanding update. The ANIMATION of these things are amazing and cannot be shown with still photos. I was impressed when they updated Barbarian village (giving npc's unique names and looks). Weird huh? No new monsters, no new drops, no new quests, no new skills. Just making the game look better brings a great response. Can't wait to see where it goes from here. An updated Kalphite lair will really rock.

Post your Manage thy Kingdom results.
I've got about 2 mill invested so far, but 5 million left to go. Seeing that I'm not on Runescape much now, it's good as investing in rares to make sure your cash isn't so bad when you get back on.
