  1. I support as well. Not only is it a hassle finding the person on the friends list, but if you need another interface open, it's a pain having to go back and forth so much.
  2. Sorry, wasn't meant in any way to be a generic statement about P2P. I was trying to agree that this guy was not putting members in a good light. A huge majority of members that I've dealt with are very good, and don't have an aggressive hate for free players.
  3. I am so sorry that I have to say this ... but someone has got to. Whoever found out that "Did you know" has too much time on their hands! :wall:
  4. Childish is such a kind way to put it. I haven't read through the whole thread, but I suspect all of f2ph8er's posts are in here ... probably made the account just for this purpose. Guess what he'd complain about if f2p went away ... "I've got no one to sell stuff to", or "I really need to get some resources (willows, coal, etc), but no one is selling them". I was about it insult him ... but then I'll be just as bad as him.
  5. That's cause they like us. Or maybe because it'll be tip.it/mechscape  They can't stop that one! But if the game is any good ... fan sites will always appear. Seems a little odd that they have tried to prevent certain named ones only. Or maybe they are looking at officially embracing fan sites for MechScape and are holding the names for them ...
  6. Interesting idea ... but I do agree with the others, we're only guessing whether it'll allow this sort of use or not (or whether they are busy fixing it now). But a question, if it did allow this sort of usage: Would Jagex really care if it could be used this way? Would it be abuse or a semi-intended use? Only time will tell ... bet you it won't be week 1's update though!
  7. I made a topic just yesterday asking whether people thought that we were already in a form of RuneScape 3. I don't think a true RuneScape 3 will ever become an announced new game. RuneScape will always continue to be RuneScape. In terms of MechScape, it's quite logical to utilise exactly the same engine, and even the same world environment (The 7th Age?). It will be a completely different game though, and would have no systemic links into RuneScape (i.e., I don't think you'd be able to transfer your RuneScape character into MechScape like you did with RS1 to RS2). I'd take a stab that there will be aspects which would be familiar to RS players, but also different enough to be a justifiably new game (that RS players would also want to pay for!). Customer support would be common across both games, along with some of the design / development resources. However they would have to maintain a core design / development resource for each game because changing between them too often would be inefficient. It's interesting to see some of the domain names that Jagex have registered around MechScape, especially MechHQ. I wonder if that's a direct hit at a fan site ....
  8. I only link to the best :-w Maybe I should have tried to define what a new version really was ... as I'd say the underlying engine really is what the game is. RuneScape is quite a different beast to most other games and applications. Most games and applications have quite distinct versions, and everything (other than bug fixes and buyable expansion packs) is consistent within the game. However RuneScape is an ever changing environment, never truely at any version level. But looking at the game as a whole today, compared to the original RS2 release day, is it good enough and has it changed enough to be seen as a form of new version of the same game?
  9. Nicely said Fey_Warrior ... couldn't have said it better myself  For the record, I don't think there will ever be an official RuneScape 3. A new game, MechScape or otherwise, will be quite different to RuneScape. I doubt there will ever be a change like was made from RS to RS2 (i.e., new accounts / stats / etc). I believe the current engine structure and updateability makes the current RuneScape quite flexible for the foreseeable future. Also, for those that seem to want to continue to bring it up, this is in no way speculation about the new year update :!: :!: It is solely a discussion around whether people see the current RuneScape as a form of RuneScape 3. Nice points by lots of people on both points of view. Thank you all for the comments. My first topic on the General forum has gone pretty well I think \
  10. Thank you for understanding my point ... and you make some good ones too. Another way to phrase the question: Is the difference between RuneScape 2 on release day different enough from today's RuneScape to call today's a form of RS3? Or is it just RS 2.1.3426 (.1 for the game engine update and .3426 for the updates and bug fixes)??
  11. I'm not speculating (or not meaning to). I was just wondering if people thought that the game we are now playing could be seen as more a version 3 rather than a version 2.
  12. Maybe I didn't make my point that clear ... I think we are currently using what could be called RuneScape 3. I don't think there will ever be a completely new RuneScape game. They will always refine the current game. You're absolutely right that they wouldn't waste the huge investment they have put into the game. Think of the time that would have gone into the game engine upgrade .........
  13. Huh? Was it something I said :? ? It's only 7.47pm here right now, my kids have only been in bed for 45 minutes ... don't think I'm quite ready right now :^o .
  14. With the speculation currently going around about the "stunning new update" in the new year, some comments have been about RuneScape 3 coming out. But I ask the question ... Are we already playing RuneScape 3?. Looking at last weeks hot topic The Way we Were: A History of RuneScape, RuneScape has changed a lot since the original RuneScape 2 release. Sure, the overall concept of the game is the same, and all we've had are quest/skill/graphics updates, but since RS1 to RS2 was primarily an engine and graphics update along with some gameplay changes, we are really at or close to the point where we can class this as RS3. Maybe the new year update will be the turning point. Of course Jagex don't refer to the current game as RS2 anyway, so in their mind I'd suggest that it will always just be a dynamic RuneScape. What do you think? Truffoo
  15. Interesting idea. Would be funny to occur in a dungeon though ... I prefer the evil chicken though. At least you can get some xp and some form of reward, even if they are only feathers.
  16. Man these posts about Miniclip ruining the world are tiresome. I joined RS through Miniclip, and I am far from a youngun. Those that started during the Miniclip era are not likely to be a low level anymore. Low levels nowadays join through friends or other avenues, since RS isn't very prevalent on Miniclip anymore (it's there, but no where near as in your face).
  17. Rofl, yeah.... A company that delivers FPS games would team up with a company that delivers RPGs. :boohoo: Uh...Valve has loaned the Source engine to several RPG's. It's even used in racing and puzzle games. Or maybe they are forming an aliance with Blizzard and create a morph game between RuneScape and WOW. They would call it: - "WOWScape" - "WOW ... RuneScape" - "RuneWOW" - "World of RuneWar" :-#
  18. There was another thread around here the other day that I posted something on that I was going to quote ... can't find it though :? I'll have to write it from scratch again. For something to be classed as a stunning update, in my mind that means it must be a lot more than just a new skill. Even if the skill is absolutely great, a single skill will never be stunning. To be stunning, I'd expect the update to attack a few things at once, such as new skill, updates to existing skills, bank update. In terms of actually guessing what it might be or consist of (in order of likelihood): 1) Big quest, opening up a new skill and a huge new area/continent 2) Bank update 3) Major updates to a lot of existing skills 4) Significant interface update (larger game window, more side panel options, customisation options) 5) Major clan support
  19. I thought higher level items in the costume room would store all sets. If that isn't the case, then this should only be done if the costume room is also updated to store all sets. And I agree that Diango (or whoever) wouldn't keep all sets, but only 2 at most.
  20. Keep focused on one 'activity set' for as long as possible. Changing to a different activity is usually time consuming. Examples: cut wood, burn, cut wood, burn; fish using all of your feathers before going onto something else; mine 1000 coal before you go off to smelt them. If you only do one load then go off slaying, you probably have wasted time. Always must be taken in context of what you are trying to do of course.
  21. To me, an update that would be "stunning" would be one that attacks a huge amount of things at once, such as, bank update mixed with new skill mixed with major updates to existing skills. A new skill on its own wouldn't really count (to me) as "stunning".
  22. Merchanting will suffer and benefit, depending on how good you are. Good merchants will be able to flourish in this sort of environment, keeping an eye out for bargains. Bad merchants will quickly give up and either play the game in different areas or quit. I can also see this system driving price changes quicker. It wouldn't cause a price change, but when something else affects a price change, the price will change a lot quicker than in the past. This is essentially because you are now competing with every single RS player, rather than just those in the area you are and on the same server (excl. forum sellers of course). But outside of external impacts to prices, I suspect that some item prices could be more stable. Will be interesting to see ...
  23. I agree with all your ideas (along with mine above  ). #2 is a really good idea to still make the P2P costume room better.
  24. I also support, but to resolve the "P2P wouldn't need a costume room" arguement, I suggest the following adjustment: The F2P system should be a little less functional than the P2P costume room and/or should be a little more time consuming to access. I'd say the F2P storage area should only be able to store 2 full sets of costume. That way there is still a benefit for P2P costume room, but F2P and low construction level P2Pers also benefit from random event storage outside of the bank.
  25. This is crap. I use Visa Gift Cards, and Iv switched cards before, never dropping membership, and Iv yet to have a problem. Overall, I think you will be fine. If your friend is trustworthy enough, I doubt he will do anything. Visa Gift Cards are very different to someone's personal credit card. Gift Cards are essentially cash that can be spent over the internet. You have already spent the money to get it. A credit card is where you are incurring expenses which you haven't yet paid for. Gift cards are completely logical to accept on any account, credit cards are not for reasons mentioned in the post you quoted and other posts above. Jagex rules clearly state that you shouldn't pay for another players membership, unless they are immediate family.
