Is there anything awesome you don't do? No, wait, hang gliding and hot air ballooning. Until you learn those skills, I will refuse worship. Ahhhhh so much homework. Very ready to go to Houston. Oh, and I found out a friend of mine won a theater competition doing this... [hide=][yt]3Ivx6tNHfW4[/yt][/hide] I don't know about hang gliding, but I'm all up for hot air ballooning and parachuting plastic army men from the basket.

Pfft. I don't have beautiful weather or a creek... Start diggin'. You'll gain man points. Today was uneventful except for the fact that I get to learn how to fly fish in a few weeks and then learn how to sail on my own in May (I've only sailed a 40' Catalina yacht once with someone who knew what they were doing). I'm looking around for lessons in March, but I might have to wait until May. :(
  5. It's called imagination. You know, where little children pretend their superheroes or random animals. Imagination? Seriously, none of these are serious topics. Buuuzzzzkillll.
  6. I agree with you until the last part. It's called imagination.

Regrets are an inevitable part of memory. The phrase "better to have loved and lost than never loved at all" comes to mind. Otherwise, does this seriously need a topic? I'm sure the relationship thread would have worked.

I was so happy about the beautiful weather I went out and setup my hammock by the creek. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I just might do the same thing again.
  11. You, sir, are amazing. Awesome glasses and fro.
  12. If you don't know where to start activity wise, I'd go with a combination of running and biking. Personally, I like biking more and if you have a bike, when you get home tomorrow, go bike riding around your neighborhood (wear your helmet!). Also, it's still winter, but when it starts warming up you should try to get into a sport like tennis or anything you'd like to try really. If you're near good hiking locations, I always recommend hiking!
  13. I agree. Of course, I don't readily like when CGI is used for characters or monsters.
  14. First of all, let me suggest this site: http://www.stickk.com/. It lets you make goals, then it will hold you to them. Some methods include putting money up so that if you don't complete your goal the money will be donated to a charity. If you do complete your goal, you get your money back. Other methods include sending e-mails of your successes and failures to friends and family. As for the weight loss itself, what activites do you like to do? Sports? Biking, running, walking, hiking? The worst thing you could do was to choose running, when you hate running. So you need to find something that you enjoy doing. Also, if there is someone you could excercise with, that would be all the more motivation to keep at your goal.
  15. Back when I was looking there was all that talk of Zune's being glitchy or not working with certain song formats (there was some big downfall that thwarted Microsoft for a bit), so I ended up getting an 30GB iPod as a gift and have been pleasantly pleased with it. I honestly have had no problems with iTunes other than my stereo receiver confusing iTunes into playing at super speed with no sound (happens from power surges, crummy wiring). Anyways, glad to hear the Zune is a good deal.

Being a white male in the US, I can't readily relate to the majority of feminist issues. However, I think much more focus should be put on women rights in poor, developing countries where women are often treated at the same level as slaves. Places like rural Pakistan where women are made to work well into sunset while the men will stop before and rest and eat. Women in the US have it pretty nice compared to lower income countries.

There are two rabbits in a hat. One is male, one is female. What is the probability of choosing a female? Now put the rabbit back in. What is the probability of choosing a male? Now put the rabbit back in. What is the probability of choosing a female? Do the probabilities change? No. We know one of the children are male. Whether that male child comes first or not is irrelevent because it does not change the probability of having a female child. Why would order matter? Say you flip a coin twice. Due to the intervention of a godlike coin-flipping being, one of the flips lands heads (after which he goes away and stops intervening). What is the probability that the second coin flip is tails? I'm done, so you can pm me if you want, but I think I'm dragging this thread off-topic.

I'm guessing the mom is a girl, so I'll say 100%. \ nice  to quio, I dont think it changes the birth rate, the point is if they have at least one male child out of two the only possibilities for their childern are m-m m-f and f-m so there is a 2/3 chance they have a girl. The odds of a 2 child family having at least 1 girl are 3/4 because you can have m-m m-f f-m and f-f. When the question required one male child it altered the probability, you would think its one half, but he didnt say it was the first child that was a male. Well madpur solved it, damn I feel silly. Anywho, ignore the fact that there is a male child and treat the probability as if there is one mystery child. It's a 50-50 chance either male or female. Also m-f and f-m are the same thing. I think that's where you're getting the extra probability of a female from. The question asks the probability of the existence of a girl, not the existence and order of birth.

2/3 assuming birth rate is 50/50 male female then the 4 possibilities are male+male male+female female+male female+female since they have to have 1 male child the "real" possibilities are male+male male+female female+male 2/3 chance Does having a male child change the female birth rate? If not, why would the chance of a female change with a male being born? I would think that the two children do not influence each others probabilities. Put another way, hold the male child constant (since you know there is at least one) and predict the possibility of a female child being born.

This all the more reason for the US to stop protecting their corn industry. It's costly and economically harms other countries as well. Although the article is not very definitive, so I don't see a need to worry unless you eat a lot of junk food, in which case you've got other problems.

That was a running joke in my differential equations class. It started when my professor gave us an equation we were having trouble solving and he showed us his "simplification." Silly man, it's called humor.
