2012 Apoclypse: Fact or Fiction?
Attention! Attention! Read all about it! Compasses everywhere point in the opposite direction! Thankfully most are covered under warranties.

Biking help.
5 miles? Were those 5 miles hilly? Because that's not a lot on a bike. Not trying to insult, just curious (as in, how much out of shape?). My suggestion is to just ride everyday you can and try to go somewhere new whenever you can. That way you won't get bored as quickly and get to explore (yay!).

Are you neurotic?
I eat M&Ms/Skittles/tiny bite size candy in twos with one piece on either side of my mouth. It always makes me sad to see only one piece left.

speed stacking has got nothing on this.
Are yo-yo's back in style again? They seem to drift in and out every 5-10 years. Speaking of styles, are mohawks in style in the US right now because I've seen a lot of people with mohawks as of late.

Who is God to YOU? (Not necessarily a Theist question)
God is just a wandering being who travels through space looking to continue its own existence.

Boxers Vs Briefs?
Boxers for the natural air conditioning. Briefs for the support.

Coke vs Pepsi
I'm a Coke [bleep]. Pepsi is just too sweet.

Addictions
Yeah, coffee alone will do that too. Quite awhile back I couldn't drink coffee without cream (and even then, I could only have 1 cup every two days or so) for 2 and a half years because of the after effects of a stomach condition.

Real life pictures - 3
I believe the only normal picture I have of me and it doesn't really look like me. I don't remember why the funny face. Heh, that's dressy for me.

Addictions
randox, you sure it's not just the massive amount of sugar you intake when you drink a couple of energy drinks? That'd be kind of weird if you couldn't digest caffeine. If you want to test it, try drinking coffee.

An emissions trading scheme. The way to go?
As the demand in China and India (mainly China) increases, I don't think OPEC will care too much about how their pricing affects the west.

Medical Marijuana
I don't think there would be less users, but there would certainly be less people doing it to rebel or be cool. Unfortunately, right now it seems that a lot of teens are smoking marijuana because that's what the cool crowd, the rebel crowd, the loser crowd are doing. It seems to be a lot peer influencing surrounding marijuana use right now, but that's just my observations.

What are you doing?
Just finished doing some yard work and it is quite hot outside and I have to work the night shift (more like an evening shift, but meh) for work later.

Oil and the Future
I almost wish the Republicans had another term so that we could keep track of how they're doing with that  If they had a magic wand, they'd wave it.

Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
No, we don't. Texas for one has the best public education system in the Union. And on average southerners score higher on tests such as the SAT and ACT tests. Uhm, the southern states are the most religious, what does that have to do with SAT or ACT scores? And I highly doubt Texas has the best public education, though when you live in Oklahoma you get a skewed view of any thing Texan. (for example we had a new student that came from Texas she said that AP classes and concurrent enrollment were not offered at her high school[though of course thats just one high school]) I live in the buckle of the bible belt, and there are quite a few crazies here. I really hate it when they come to your door and ask to come to there church... -.- I'm sure barihawk can elaborate into much greater detail (he's a teacher, I think), but Texas does have some of the best public schools in the US. I have no idea why, but I wish North Carolina would learn a thing or two from Texas schools.

The "Le Tour De France" tread! -now with support siggys-
Is Discovery still sponsoring the American team? I will usually turn it on here and there to keep track (or try to), but I only like watching the mountain stages, especially downhill.

Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
We have people like that at colleges in the area (NC). Most students just egg them on and laugh. I think there was one guy who had actually memorized the majority of the Bible, which is pretty impressive. Wouldn't that prove (or make you think) intelligence is seperate from religious ideals?

The Political Compass, Where Do You Stand?
Socialism can be pretty controlling.

The Political Compass, Where Do You Stand?
I remember doing this test awhile back and scored towards the middle of the liberal libertarian box. My views really vary quite a bit though and I try to stay away from classification.

High court affirms gun rights in historic decision
Woops, forgot about small game. Rifle is probably not the best defense against a home intruder, but a shotgun could be. If you come at an intruder with a rifle, me thinks they would run the other way, especially once you've fired. Although, in the house your first defense should be pre-emptive non-aggressive. How many people come into the house looking to kill the person in the house? Pulling a gun on a thief might result in you getting shot as well. I know there are license and I think they shouldn't exist for civilians. All it takes is a hot tempered arguement (Boondocks anyone?), and someone might pull a gun.

Medical Marijuana
That bolded statement alone is quite scary; however, I don't think we have even a close situation in the US. But seeing those figures (assuming they're all correct still), makes me think Australia needs some major reform. Ok, I'm done, no more dragging this thread off-topic.

High court affirms gun rights in historic decision
I think people should be allowed to own handguns, but not allowed to carry them in public unless it is for their job (police, security guard, etc.). People don't need to be carrying around revolvers tucked in their belt. Personally, I see no use for a handgun. You can't hunt with it (or... I guess you could...), so it's only purpose it to kill people. Doesn't really make sense does it? People only need rifles. If you can't defend yourself with a rifle in your home, then you shouldn't own a gun.

Oil and the Future
Oh, yes even tho i was not born in the 70's or earlier, i know all about the "gas crunch" in the 70's. Cars them selves did not get much smaller, they stayed relatively the same honestly. I would say take a look at your average Cadillac/lincoln but thats not fair at all, they were always big cars. compare the first generation camaro(67-69) to the 2nd generation(70-81) they only got bigger and heavier with weaker motors. chevelle, el camino, buick. I dont think the phyiscally changed much. Motors were toned down heavily. Your average motor from the factory(chevy) was either a 302small block, 350small block, 427 big block and 454big block. then it adapted to, 327, 350, 400 small blocks. And slowly the 427's and 454's were just removed from the car's that were sent to dealer ships. Your average horse power went from the general 300-400+ area to 200-300ish. The 69 chevelle came out with nearly 500 horse power. And the Hemi motor of that era was closer to a horse power rating of 600. point is, we are to the point reducing cylinders and removing cubic inches and lowering the horse power. JUST DOES NOT CUT IT anymore. They didn't make pre-existing cars smaller, they made smaller cars. They just knocked down the horse power of pre-existing cars. Also, all those cars got heavier because of new safety regulations created in the 1970s (such as bumpers that could withstand 5 mph collision with no damage). In fact, those safety regulations were partly responsible for the downfall of some cars, such as the Opel GT (although it was the Datsun 240Z that was mostly responsible). Hey, at least you can still get good ol 454's off the internet to throw in just about any car, which seems to be a popular hobby these days :)

Medical Marijuana
Actually, a good majority of college students binge drink. It's not just a minority, it is a major issue. That's why there are a lot of colleges that don't allow alcohol in dorms and some fraternities/sororities don't allow it either. They know it's an issue. People still find a way to do it though. And ever been to a major bar area in a city right after closing time? Alot of belligerence going on there, because people just drink too damn much. Not as many college students as you think binge drink more than they should, but yes, many do drink a lot. Why not let them? It should only be a problem if their drinking affects someone else negatively. Government should lower the age to 18 and educate people on things like DUI and liver failure (prefably no scare tactic approach).
