  1. Quoi, do you mean Heroclix? when i was 11, i used to play that all the time, i was pro. after i played the game for 3 months, me and my dads friend went to a Heroclix tournament. Everyone else was like... 17+. Guess who came in 2nd place? ME :D i won a $60 Ares piece. The dude who got in 1st place worked at the place we were at. That sounds familar. Do Heroclix minatures have a moving piece on the bottom that changes a stat (or something)?
  2. I have the unfortunate tendency to ramble, but it is a kind of "interactive," funny ramble that usually entertains quite well. I will actually use it to test a person's sense of humor and if they don't laugh, I won't talk to them as much (those people are rare, however).

Few things actually annoy me, but the one semi-unique one I can think of is completely oblivious people. It really isn't that hard to keep tabs on your suroundings and make sure your actions and words are appropriate.
  4. I now find this stuff extremely boring, but when I was younger I collected pokemon, Yu gi oh, and some minatures that I can't recall the name of.
  5. lolwut? I believe jack is saying that [...] is his favorite part of journalism, ever. I'd have to agree.

Is there an easy way to figure out how many miles an unmarked path is?
  7. They were fixing a problem they were partly responsible. They split the market instead of the company. He downsized because there were fewer investors willing to buy as many mortgages? Because that would be a decline in investor confidence. And I meant a decline in investor confidence in the secondary housing market in general, not just Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The majority of the people rented in the early 1900s. Very few had the money to buy a house, so the only way to buy a house was to get a loan from the bank. However, banks only had so much money they could loan out, which made it hard for the average family to get a loan. Companies like Fannie Mae bought up mortgages from banks (creating the secondary housing market), which allowed banks to create more loans. This allowed the average family to buy a house no longer leaving home ownership to the wealthy. I swear I don't know that much about history, this just happened to coincide with one of my classes. That was my poorly done point; Hoover did little to help the Great Depression because of politics. I never said that WWII didn't bring us out of the Great Depression. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac own half the secondary housing market. If they went under, a lot of people would have lost their houses and we could have easily slipped into a very bad recession.
  8. Ah yes, I remember running coke between neighborhoods on my little red bike. I made good money too. It's like delivering pizza, only illegal. I remember building a 3 foot dam in the creek by my house once. We "stole" a bunch of bricks from some guy's yard and piled them up and covered them with sand. We actually raised the level of the creek for a bit until it rained and washed away the dam. :(
  9. The internet is also a popular way to play some of my favorite games, like Crystal Meth, Nightmare Killing Spree and Clamdigger - Head To Head. Heh
  10. It did for the US. Except for the Lend-Lease scheme in which it lost millions to aide the Allies in Europe, it undoubtedly aided the US economy. War creates jobs. War creates jobs with no return. The positive economic aspect of WWII was the US production of weapons for allies. That was good for the economy. The US entering the war was good for the specific industrial sectors involved, but bad for everything else. The military is a money pit and although we sadly need it, it doesn't make us any money unless we sell our military research or products. When we entered the war, we sold less and used more, which gave us less return on the products we created. In theory, if countries stayed in a constant state of warfare, everyone would be employed and the economy would be stable with a very slow growth. Hmm, that sounds like a book I read... :) Jobs aren't the only variable to a good economy. In the 1920s, a little less than half the population wasn't working (read: women, children) and the US economy was booming.
  11. I don't know how it is in other places, but in the US, if you don't have a college degree, your career options become very limited. In all honesty, it's a screwy system, but many employers just want to see you went to college and graduated. Whether you end up using anything you learn is irrelevant. If you go the technical route, then community college (technical school) is enough to get you started on the path you want. However, for any sort of science related or office job, you need a college degree.
  12. There was a lack of regulation combined with a drop in investor confidence that has put the two companies into so much financial trouble. The companies were created by congress, but they are not controlled by it. (Think Federal Reserve) Well, Freddie Mac has been a private company the whole time, it was just helped out by congress to stop Fannie Mae's monopoly on the secondary housing market. Huh? What's the relevance? They were started so people could buy houses. If they were never created, most people in the US would be renting. The stock market crash in 1929 did not cause the Great Depression. It was a symptom of it. Stock market crashes happen periodically. One of the latest ones was the "dot-com bubble burst." Did you know we went into a recession after WWII? It didn't last very long, but it took a while to recover. War does not help the economy. Just so you know, Hoover tried the laissez-faire approach to the Great Depression (he didn't have much of a choice since that was his platform) and clearly that didn't work.
  13. My friend caught a grasshopper once and it bit him! :o As for me, I've caught all sorts of bugs, lizards, turtles (one snapping turtle that fought back), fish (with nets of course), crayfish (crawdads), a few birds that got stuck in our garden, and 1 rabbit (it was a baby that lost its mother, so not the smartest thing). And to think I grew up in suburbia. I've never tried to catch something drunk. Hmmm....
  14. Yeah I love me some good food, like this apple free-form pastry I just got at the farmer's market. If you're like me, then the only way to gain weight is to exercise. I lose weight when I do nothing and gain weight when I'm active. I've gone from ~145 at peak tennis season to ~125 three months later. Moral of the story: don't be lazy, exercise!
  15. Am I the only one who finds eating an inconvience? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy trying new foods and eating "gourmet" foods; but eating in general, I consider a nuisance. Basically, if I could live off coffee and the occaisional restaurant outing, I would.
  16. You can only attain a legal, tax return enabling marriage through a church? Or am I confused?
  17. You know, all this talk about new features and Diesel's mention of Cowans reminded me of how much I hate a lot of these features. I just want an mp3 player that plays music. No pictures, no videos, no gps, just music. That's one reason I liked some of the earlier iPods; because they were simple.
  18. Yeah, those are cicadas. They aren't always around each year because their own a schedule of sorts. Here Wikipedia describes it pretty well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada#Life_cycle
  19. I don't get stressed that often, but on the occaision I become extremely stressed, I take long seemingly pointless walks in no particular direction and become a recluse. I've actually wandered into some pretty cool places because of that and have now taken up wandering whenever. So, I guess my stress relief is wandering and occaisionally avoiding people.
  20. I used too until I lost both my hands in the war or I might have just stopped. It's a toss-up.
  21. Mindless Apple consumers, duh. I swear I have nothing against Apple. Don't hurt me...
  22. One of us... One of us... One of us... Anywho, what are smart playlists?
  23. I know this thread is about lovebugs, but while we have cicadas on the mind here is a fun, tasty article: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/05/0503_040503_cicadafeast.html Now I'm curious. Anyone want to organize a cicada fry?

In McCain's defense, all politicians "change their minds." It's not a republican-only thing. And McCain used to be a lot more moderate and still kind of is compared to Palin, but he's becoming way too conservative. In the state IQ's defense, you made that up. Also, Kerry wasn't much better than Bush. The 2004 election truly was a choice of which one was the lesser evil. I don't think Bush was the right choice, but Kerry would not have been much better. Semi edit: Bari got it first, so my post is bit repetitive.
  25. I always think that too, but trust me, it's not a big deal. Just don't bring up that fact and kind of throw it out of your mind as well and you will feel a bit more relaxed. As a general rule of thumb, if you don't act awkward, then the other person won't feel as awkward as well. You know, the whole confidence thing. In short, no worries, just relax.
