Starting to Smoke
Not recommended purely for the self-medication factor. My suggestion is to make your life less busy. You might need the money from your job, but if it is making your stress worse, you might want to think about quiting. Allocate some time for you to relax and clear your mind. Unfiltered are worse than filtered. Think of all the lovely ash and tar coating your lungs. But, yes, it is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Collections thread!
I used to collect things when I was younger, but now I just always have pieces of electronic equipment, old speakers, rusty machinery, scrap metal, and green coffee beans lying around. Well, the machinery is only around when I'm staying at my parents' house. I don't think I really collect anything anymore.

Men With Sexist Views Earn More
I think sexism just happens to be a symptom of the men being controlling and ambitious. I haven't looked into the study that much, but if they attempted to measure ambition and the need to control, I think they would find that those two traits would correlate with sexism. Since it clearly isn't the men's sexism being rewarded (unless we really live in that messed up of a society, which I don't think we do), it much be something else that happens to correlate with sexism.

Reveal Confessions, Secrets & Regrets...
Oh, that was you! I remember that, people telling you you'd look like your hair was thinning or something. I used to stab my friends with pens or pencils when they acted stupid. I drew blood on at least 1 occasion. Used to? Have you moved onto knives now?

Post pictures of your pets here
You could always get wolves. I don't have any pets right now, but when I get my own place I will definitely get a dog.

Un-Reliable Wikipedia?
Someone should sue them for slander. I mean, it's patently obvious to anyone who even has a basic understanding of religion that Obama is not a Muslim. They've covered their [wagon] with what appears to be legal grey area: http://www.conservapedia.com/Conservapedia:General_disclaimer

Interesting article: "New Hampshire: The taste of freedom"
Now I know where to go when I need any sort of gun without all that messy paperwork. Wonderful.

When was the last time you cried?
I can't remember the last time I cried for emotional reasons, but I do remember crying when I was ~8-9. I was running down my neighborhood street that happens to be a very steep hill and fell, skidding on my knees for a few feet. It stung, but I didn't really start crying until I looked down at my knees and saw white. Ah, good times.

Working out topic
They aren't that big though...I am not sure how much they weigh. Also, do you guys have any tips to keep me motivated so that I will be able to work out every day? Usually I give up/forget after 5 days... First, set a goal. Then make up your own reward system for reaching that goal. If you still live with your parents (or someone else, for that matter), then have them help you enforce it. You can also create a schedule and then mark what you did each day. Those are just my suggestions, I'm sure someone else has some more ideas.

Sarah Palin's Email Hacked. McCain camp to investigate.
I feel bad for this, but in response to the bold, I quote you from this thread (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=758472&start=180): With Palin in the picture, I would think it wise for both sides to drop the whole "experience" thing. It's a waste of time and tells the public nothing about what the candidates' policies are. As another guy above me said, gas prices are not going down without the government subsidizing it. We (the world) a good supply of oil left. The real problem is demand. A lot of countries are using oil now (China) and are pushing the price up. Our best method is to move to another energy source.

Peace Day
Exactly. If I remember correctly, Crack Day worked just as well. People can't get enough of it. Slightly more on topic, we should have a peace year. Totalitarian style.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
It might not be fair, but marriages or unions represent (atleast, they used to) a commitment to stay together. That offers an adoption agency more reassurance that the child will grow up in a stable home. Those who aren't married have nothing to vouch for their commitment to remain together.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Nightsword, basically what I've been arguing is steming from this statement, so I will readdress it before the other argument goes off in some other unintended direction. Although, we can continue on the other arguement, if you so desire. So, heterosexual pleasure is acceptable?

Things that cause you to question

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Then what of homosexuals who are really young? You might say it is just a "phase" or they want attention, but when that individual continues to be homosexual for the rest of their life, then thats not a slow change. This would suggest they were either born that way or they chose to be that way. For individuals who become homosexual later on in life, one would think that they had been supressing those feelings or they all of sudden realized they had an attraction to the same gender. Again, genetic or choice. You kind of proved the first part of my point. You're looking at a couple and judging them based solely on their ability to reproduce. If they can't reproduce, then they are not a couple. So then, one should naturally think that marriage is in place inorder for us to reproduce. Forget emotion, that is irrelevant at this point, and marriage becomes defined as a couple's ability to create offspring. There are people who get married and never have children. And besides the tax advantages of such a marriage, those couples get married because they love each other. Homosexual couples feel the same way and it seems wrong to not recognize them as couples or, on a seperate issue, to allow them to get married.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
If it's not a choice and it's not natural (genetic), what is it? Your point of view is wrong in the bolded sentence. If you were homosexual, then you would feel the same feelings you have now (I'm assuming heterosexual) except they would be towards the same gender. Either that or you don't want to ever have sexual relations as a heterosexual either. Edit: I could see where you were going if we lived in a completely utilitarian world with no emotion, but the fact is homosexual couples love each other in the same way heterosexual couples do. Homosexual couples have more than sexual relationships, the same as heterosexuals.

Bailout, American economy, and failing businesses
Thank God. They're the largest insurer in the country. If the government stood by and let these companies fall like dominoes we'd be going into a depression very soon. If they intervened from the get-go, these problems could be avoided... The sad thing is they've been watching the housing market decline for over a year now.
