  1. That's what everyone was lead to believe. I'm 100% sure this is not true. Remember how woox managed to max distance 5 days before anyone else? Yeah, he capped everything but voyage/adv rerolls. Anyway, i might try to get a random and then do it on beta for some tens of times to show what rewards i get.
  2. If you really think about it, the boosts are highly negligible. They offer no guarantees. There is a reason adventurer rerolls are much more rare than other rewards in the first place. This is, again, about logic. A short term gain for long term pain, to me, is stupid. Perhaps it's something of a social issue that can be compared the credit card/consumption loaning culture. People like to use money they don't have, while the smart choice is to save up money and to not live beyond what you can afford. Capping most rewards is definitely the smart choice here, but it may seem wasteful when you can't get everything right here, right now. Patience is a virtue.
  3. Don't know, but i can't imagine 24/32 being luck. Anyway, i have my voyage rerolls stuck atm also- i used to get them at times before(although even when i got them they didn't actually always show up), but now, they seem to have been eliminated from the reward table(same for most other things like lifeboats, tint glasses, capt rerolls etc). In any case, i've had my rewards capped for months now, and although i used to experience something similar to what you guys have(not getting any rewards) for some time, i've been consistently getting loads and loads of adv rerolls the last month. I think i'm on a streak of 8 in a row now. Also, even if this is a bug, the fact of the matter remains that some rewards are useful while others offer negligible bonuses at best. Capping crappy rewards does definitely help, even when you don't get anything at all alot of the time(but then again, getting crappy rewards is just the same as getting nothing, atleast to me).
  4. The lower your chance of success the higher your chance of partial mission success. Merchants are used on every ship anyway and fots loss is insignificant on the grand scheme of things(usually get them back next to adv rerolls). There is sound logic involved here- this was a tip i gave just a few pages into the whole topic that has been extremely beneficial to me(i've had 24 adv rerolls now since the ports II update).
  5. I know that you get ranged xp. The question was about slayer xp, and i'm almost certain you don't get that(unless you tag). Sadly, this means that for low lp monsters, cannon is almost useless for slayer. Not to mention, even though the cannons effectiveness has gone down significantly, the cost to use one has gone up. Go figure.
  6. And i did mine at like 63%. Actually, i did both the other trio finales at similar percentages and didn't fail either of those. The fact of the matter is, you are giving away an excess of 1-2k cotta and chance to save you from poor rerolls for a 20% increase of successrate on one mission. Totally idiotic, but to each their own.
  7. Well, from what i experienced, i definitely didn't get xp for all kills.
  8. I vaguely remember something like that aswell, but i couldn't find any info about it from my normal source(rune wiki(not the official jagex crap ofc)). Where is Q when you need her???
  9. So I thought about just PMing Q but I guess the answer to this question might help someone else too. So the question is: What are the exact mechanics when you combine these 3? I did a daggannoth task the ''oldschool way'' and it took way longer than it should have. Was that just because of cannon being much worse DPS now or, as I think I've heard, there are specific mechanics involved in how you do/do not count a kill when using a cannon. Oh yeah, and answers from people other than Q are appreciated too. Honestly.
  10. Sounds criminal! Anyway, wkw, i think you should watch your language. Definitely need to put that pic in a profanity hide :o Good job though.
  11. As i said, i've had an overall 70-80% of adv reroll, about 85% overall that i get something. All capped except for adv and voyage(and sometimes fots when i used it on story missions).
  12. I dunno about that man. I've had several (3 or 4) randoms since I started bothering to do em after POP-2 that essentially gave me nothing and far more that only gave me one thing that wasn't capped. It's like, why do I even bother... -.- That's the whole point- to get the one thing that isn't capped. Adv rerolls, voyage rerolls(and FotS) actually make a difference.
  13. Never use any booster or any crew/captain rerolls. It's just stupid- they provide little to no advantage. Voyage and adventurer rerolls are the only ones that provide a tangible advantage. Just a shame that voyage rerolls are partially broken.
  14. It is definitely still permanent. 100% sure of that. Also, they haven't fixed randoms to give a completely random reward. You have an extremely high chance of getting a reward if it's your only noncapped reward. I have gotten adv rerolls at an 80% clip since the pop II update(and no, those were not in any way changed then).
  15. Considering, if done right, we don't run into a shortage of cotta, it's not a question of crew or ship parts but rather when to get them. Regardless of what boost they give, getting ship parts first is idiotic unless you assume you won't be able to get all crew/parts. Chenw, it's level 6 to be equal(it's actually already equal at level 5 because of JoD). God i swear every single one of the people arguing against getting crew first get's this point wrong.
  16. Major derp incoming in 3, 2, 1... DERP! Yep. I thought about switching out two jade totems and replacing them with cherrywood trees. Then I thought farming the material for them wasn't worth it. I should have either my merchant or wisp tonight. Which of the two are worth getting first? You should, just in case, calculate whether you are able to afford a wisp at all, particularly if you do alot of trade good voyages and have no cherry trees. Don't just assume you are able to afford everything(because many won't). Anyway, since my progression has dropped to an expected 31k cotta, I switched to 3 cherry one jade. Now only doing long voyages i'd i need to due to time constraints.
  17. All superior gear degrades in 12 hours. All normal gear degrades in 10.
  18. Well, i guess the "herd" is just finishing their trio voyages now and thus the supply is arbitrarily high. In any case, i see no reason to sell levi rings. It might soon be better to use left-over pearls on repairs.
  19. Jay, if you can't get them at the start of the loop, and noone thus far has(even with hunderds of rerolls in beta) it's safe to assume... Levi ring is maybe 2-2.5m. yeah...
  20. Yep. I'm substituting a seafaring one for a wisp. Another good thing about the wisp is that it helps to train other crew. I haven't studied *all* the potential voyages yet, but I would thought replacing Morale would have been better as you still have the merchants, and (I think) there's still some sort of SF imbalance, though if there aren't as many good voyages for SF I guess that doesn't matter. You are getting crew for the shield anyway, not the loop. Sefaring because the seafaring hull has only 200 speed.
  21. Yep. I'm substituting a seafaring one for a wisp. Another good thing about the wisp is that it helps to train other crew.
  22. Yoko, i'd say it's worth getting one wisp IF you can afford one, meaning you get all other crew first. As for the difficulty in gathering normal resources, although it might seem annoying, you just know it was absolutely the right thing to do. And in any case, if you play it well enough, you will be able to afford everything in the loop(crew and ship parts), you just have to really work for it(can't just send out trade good/trait/xp/empty scroll voyages).
  23. Another thing you should consider is that terracotta becomes increasingly easier to get once you hit the 20% mark. According to my progression, i was going to barely hit 20k cotta total and thus was considering if i can get 3x MCS. Right now, with the higher cotta missions and a better crew, i might even hit 40k cotta total(more likely around 35k) and get any crew i want. However, if i went for ship parts first i'd likely only get 30k cotta total and end up with barely trained crew. Anyway, i went back and looked at the voyages from previous regions. Up to the scythe where there still are chime only missions, those missions are all triple stat. Also, all island unlock missions are also triple stat. Thus the fact that the loop has chime only triple stat missions is no coincidence and is likely to continue in the shield.
  24. Max story is 63- 6 per each adventurer and 3x3 trio voyages. Evidently, you just passed the 10% point in the loop. And as for strategy, i think you'd be well served reading up a few pages of this thread. In any case, ports really isn't something you do alone. When i first started doing ports around 2 months after the first release i read up on the 100+ pages of the old thread and that gave me a big advantage over everyone else, which made it possible for me to catch up to others much quicker. Right now, i'm able to atleast contribute somewhat to the discussion and derive my own theories as to what the best course of action is and be subject to the criticism of others. In that, contributing here helps my progress atleast as much as it does everyone elseĀ“s. Chenw, i understand the difficult spot you are in and it's nice to see it hasn't hampered your progress too much- evidently your strategy for the kind of situation you are in is a good one. That said, i'm still in doubt of your move to buy ship parts first. As i stated before, ship parts are the first priority in the loop, however, that does not mean they need to be bought first. Buying ship parts first would only be a good strategy if you are expecting not to be able to buy anything else while still in the loop. I would atleast assume you'd be able to upgrade all jade merchants first before doing ship parts- because, remember, ship parts do not need to be trained.
