  1. And that's why i'm not saying 3 merchants is useless, just much less useful for the relatively long while when you've maxed everything port-wise except for scrolls. Another thing is that alot of people value xp beyond 99's, making xp voyages effectively infinite, not to mention, a merchant does not help to train your crew(as an extra crewmember would). And again, merchant is the one crewmember you can easily afford to be low leveled.
  2. It would BUT ee is basically an off-hand mace so...
  3. After you've maxed port and ship they are no longer good for normal resources, so they are only useful for trade goods, then.
  4. Well, i guess it's true if you do bone/spice missions with a merchant(or at all), but other than that, it's very rare for you to get enough long voyages to justify 3 merchants- i'd rather have the flexibility that the extra crewmemebers offer(particularly for when you have one or more scroll missions going). After all the scrolls though, it'd probably be a good idea to put the merchants back at 3 again. True, but a great thing about merchants is that their level matters very little.

  6. Seriously? You just had two pages about this in the last week. It's been proven time and time again. 5/5/5/4/3/3 is the best setup. Stop saying otherwise. 555433 is best overall before you max port and ship, but after that point, three merchants are hardly ever if at all needed. I'd also like for someone to tell me a reason to have more than 3 ox other than getting an extra 200 jod bonus in dual while still being able to do a triple for trade goods, because, as far as i can tell, you never need more than 3 ox for two relatively rare missions that you are not likely to have two at a time(for which you'd need 6, anyway).
  7. If you only hire artist to produce meaningless cosmetic updates and new ''looks'' for items released 2 months prior, everything is, by definition, tough. Can't wait for this EoC beta testing phase to be finally over in 2020. I've also got no idea how they managed, again, to mess up fixing (or defixing) hex. It's not brain surgery, guys. A 6 year old could do this.
  8. The numbers have been posted a couple of times on this thread already, so there is no point in doing it again- if you care, you'd have no problem using the search function to find the data. I also started ports 2 months after the update and had no problem gathering the necessary information. Not to mention, it's not as if using a merchant vs not using one is even a close call and deserves to be argued over(it's usually a 11-25% boost and is worth using in any situation).
  9. Guys, anyone with half a brain understands the worth of merchants, so it's not worth repeating it. Rather use the time and energy feeling for those less fortunate than us.
  10. I get the feeling that it's more about attitudes than the advice itself. When you see people make the same mistake for the umpteenth time, it really starts getting on your nerves. In any case, talking about crew, as i will be maxing port/ship tomorrow, i will likely go for an endgame setup of 6M/6SF/5C, 3 ox 2 jod and 2 merch instead. The reasoning behind it being that there are only two 3 stat voyages to do(5 laq and 5 plate normal), and neither require more than 3 ox(with merch and jod). I will be better served having an extra morale/sf crewman unused when i'm doing a scroll mission for whaler or convict, both of whom i have statues for.
  11. If you are doing something because of preference then why even try suggesting it as advice? Seems monumentally stupid to me but meh... tl;dr, if you don't care, use anything you like. If you do, use the advice that is backed up by statistics. It's that simple.
  12. Anything less than 3 merch before you've maxed all resources is a waste. After you no longer need normal resources, 2 is a fine number, but never less than that.
  13. Finally managed to complete the last of story missions, managing to not fail any trio voyages. Now 'only' 20 plate, 67 lacquer 71 chi and 13 scrolls short of full armor sets and 4-5 days worth of resources for maxed port/ship(getting bamboo is a major headache).
  14. Please explain this He just managed to show his ignorance and troll all of us(including me, since i'm replying) in one short post with little intelligence. Big props to him.
  15. If the things you are looking for are relatively high level(occoult+) it is worth trying solo meds as they have about 1/6 chance to give t11 stuff. However, for lower dungeons, t11 stuff is rather rare. Maybe you can get a few friends to help out in trying to get the desired binds?
  16. Ain't you the one that said things should be hard to get and not handed out? Lol, I guess that only applies to gloves and not capes. There is a subtle difference between hard and madness. You of all people should be an expert in that field.
  17. You and nearly everyone else was in that corner. Trust me, there were very few people against the requirement at the time. Most couldn't anticipate the lengths people would go to to get it done.
  18. I really can't understand it- when the trim req was released i was alone in a corner saying it was totally unreasonable and wouldn't be good for the game. Now, years on, seemingly everyone has come to the same conclusion. Except for jagex, i guess.
  19. I really don't understand how this is not balanced: If you use better gear and risk more gp, you will more likely not die and get more xp. If you don't risk anything you will more likely die and risk more xp. =balance
  20. You do know that crewmen no longer die when you have 4 lifeboats, right?
  21. So what you'd like it to be instanced and be 1/6th of the xp? Right now it's a very nice high-risk-high-reward daily xp for skillers. Just stop it with all this newschool nannyscape.
  22. ''It's great xp'' ''It's annoying'' Sounds like balanced content, for once.
  23. There is no reason to get 3rd ship ASAP in the hook region because you only get 16/17 voyages a day anyway. It only becomes useful for the scythe region. As for 4th ship, i basically got mine as soon as possible, only getting 3 crewmen before it, and really, deeply regretted it. The problem is that for the first 10-15% of a region you mostly get very low resource voyages, and thus your progress will be very slow regardless. It would have been much more effective had i gotten 60-100% bowl crew before concentrating on getting 10k jade. Remember, crew in jade region is the highest regional upgrade for any region. The higher success rate with your crew means you will get the resources just as fast, but will already have a decent crew when you get your 4th ship.
  24. Other than the office(which gives you additional ships) port upgrades should be generally very low on your list of priorities. Most of them should be gotten only once you've fully maxed ship/crew(as in pincers maxed). For the office upgrades, don't rush too much with 3rd ship, you won't need it until the scythe region. However, 4th ship should be gotten ASAP in bowl, just after getting most bowl crew. For general tips, always use crew with merchant trait(highest you can) on resource missions, solidarity crew are very very useful but golems aren't. For later regions, rudder upgrade should be high priority.
  25. Survivabiliy is really not even an issue in eoc solo as soul split usually heals you for more than you need anyway. Rarely do i pick any food and usually die every 10th floor or so, almost always because of big damage from skill thingy failure. The better you get the better you will be at avoiding damage.
