  1. I've played several games today, it appears that they are trying to make the teams even. However, players can skew this. the teams are even at 3vs3, player A joins the Yellow team. Player B must then join the Green team. Player C is able to join either team and chooses to go with the Yellow team. Player B then decides to quit. You then end up with 5 vs 3. I had something similar happen to me, as it was to be a 2 vs 3 game, but the other player on my team decided that it would be too hard that way and quit. I played it through and almost beat the other team on a couple of the altars (one of the altars they got the win in right at the end, another one I was actually ahead until they saw I was ahead). So, on the last one, they decided that they needed to block. 3 blocks up to keep me from being able to bring in yellow stars. *sigh* 3 on 1 and they still have to block. In any case, if your team is losing, stick it out, you may learn some new tactics, and it's a chance to learn how to use your wands better. Personally, I've been having trouble with it in full screen, the "dead zone" around the mini-map is quite large and I keep clicking on the altar trying to run around it, so it keeps asking me if I want to craft runes. *blah* Unfortunately, this is also a way for players to "fix" a game in their favor. Have a couple of their friends join the other team and then quit out. Then do the same for them. Cheap and cheezy and I'll bet there are quite a few people who end up doing it.
  2. Lets see, I just had one person who has been newly friended tell me that he wants to get 99 WC so he can get the cape. Why? Because he likes how it looks. Not sure if he realizes that the capes are members only though, we were both on F2P when he was telling me about it.
  3. True, you get a chance to craft an "extra" rune with each essence you craft, but, without the ring, I get experience based on how many essence I craft, not how many runes result from it. (At least, that's what we get told by the RC guide on Tip.it) I was seeing the extra rune as like having a 10% chance of crafting a (in my case) third earth rune for each essence I craft, not that I got a 10% chance of crafting an extra essence, because if I crafted an extra essence (which the exp is based upon) I would always get two more runes as a result of it and never end up with the odd amount of runes that I sometimes get. That is why I believe it MAY be a bug and not the actual intent. However, as it is actually a small effect, although it can add up to quite a sum over time, I don't know how Jagex will react.
  4. While runecrafting with the Explorer's ring on, I noticed I appeared to be getting extra experience. After a few quick (very quick) calculations, it appears that you receive experience per rune for each extra rune that the ring crafts for you. I do not know if this applies to all of the elemental runes and I do not know if this was intended by Jagex (one of their hidden updates?). Perhaps I am the only one to experience it, but I thought I should pass on the information.
  5. It is interesting that the attitude displayed by the OP is exactly the type of mentality that forced Jagex to cripple pking in the first place. In otherwords, you and your kind brought this down upon yourselves and ruined a portion of Runescape for other players who went about the game honestly. I do not cry for you and the whole of Runescape would be better off without your kind. I just find it unfortunate that a whole class of player had to suffer because of it.
  6. Sorry, would offering 5k for something and then refusing to pay it not be a form of scamming? Advertisers are not allowed to say that something is available for x price and then refuse to sell it to you for that price. It's considered a scam and illegal in many countries. So, would it not be the same on Runescape? Direct from Jagex's own rules. What the person did was lie for personal gain, which makes it scamming under Jagex's rules.

    No More Limit

cowhides were 100-150 for those who knew and those who sold in bulk. It was usually pretty easy to get some new players to get you hides for 10-50 gp each because they didn't know how much they could be sold for and they didn't sell in high enough quantities to be able to ask those kinds of prices. It was all part of how merchants made their money.
  8. After getting a few more games under my belt, I have to admit, I have used the hit the center and tank strategy a few times now. The first was a level 60 something who wanted mage exp and said so. He told me how many charges he had and waited until I had surpassed his charges to attack (we were both standing on the fist and he wasn't attacking so I felt confident he wasn't lying). He was hunted first too. The second was a level 12. Even with just tanking in the center, I ran out of prayer (53) before I even had much of a worry. I figured that, at 2k+ charges, I was pretty safe. The third was a level 37 (I think) in full mith plate casting spells at me. Most of those splashed, again, I ran out of prayer before I ran out of hp. I think I had 1800+ charges on that one. The hardest part with both the level 12 and the level 37 was waiting them out. I supose I could have turned off protect from magic, maybe removed some of my d-hide, but then they wouldn't have been able to cast as many spells. *shrug* The level 60 something was completely honest and straightforward about what he was doing so I didn't feel too bad about helping him gain some magic exp. I'd probably be willing to do it outside of FOG for a friend, inside of FOG I'm out nothing but some time and I get the tokens which is mostly what I'm after anyway. (Runecrafting in F2P == slow)
  9. Would that not, in fact, be a form of scamming? Makes me wonder if it would be reportable.
  10. Work on the minotaurs for a while. Once they aren't such a big deal any more, maybe move to the zombies in the Edgeville dungeon. They are level 18 and aggro, so you don't have to worry about attacking them, they will attack you. You also have Edgeville bank nearby if you need to run back to restock. The Zombie drops aren't much though. Then move up to the Flesh Crawlers, or, if those are proving to be too much because of the mix of levels, you can do the pirates and hobgoblins in the Ice Caves south of Port Sarim.
  11. It does work, not sure about the eye, but the blue wizard hats are selling for almost 60 coins each on GE, and you buy them for 2 coins each at the shop. I also know that pots of flour have gone up (were 46 max, now in the 60's) and those sell for 13 each at the port sarim food shop. One of the biggest reasons for this is the amount of time it takes to collect the resource is also considered. If you want a LOT of pots of flour, do you want to spend all that time collecting them? Also, if you want a blue wizard hat for use in FOG, do you want to have to run to Port Sarim just to get one, or would you rather pay a higher price, but get it from the Grand Exchange? It's all a matter of how you are willing to spend your time and how other people aren't willing to spend theirs.
  12. I'm sure there's better, but as a f2p, I used the three mossies on the south end of Crandor island. Plenty of safe spots, relatively easy to kill. I was hitting 10's with steel arrows quite often. Using the Explorer's Ring, I low-alched most of the drops (mith swords, steel kites), kept the bars for training smithing and buried the bones for prayer exp. I not only went from about 65-70 over the course of a few days, I also went up several prayer levels and made about 50-100k on the deal. Because of the amount of safe spots, you shouldn't need to bring food, or bring very little in any case. However, being on a f2p world, there was often a crowd there. Also, I can't hit as high as a p2p player, so you might find them just a bit too easy and going down too fast. But, you'll still have the lessers about to work on. Happy hunting.
  13. I have a member friend who uses construction as his moneymaker. He makes planks and sells them on the GE. People don't want to have to bother with collecting them, so he makes money this way. I believe that he's made a couple of million this way so far.
  14. If they have agreed to a price before the sale and then attempt to renege, don't sell to them. Not only that, they have broken a verbal contract, although I doubt that any court will uphold such. Also, you are providing the item at a place and time convenient to them, thus a surcharge for such is reasonable. However, the main point is DON'T sell it to them. If they want it at such a price, let them find it at such a price. Even on the GE they may not be able to get it at that price. But, if you keep selling to them at market price, they will keep demanding that you (and others) sell to them at market price. And, in all honesty, if they can't find it and come back asking you for yours at your original price, raise it. If they ask why, tell them ignorance tax. Perhaps I have been fortunate, but I had a person ask me for a mith wc axe earlier today. I didn't have one on me, so I made them one. They gave me 2k coins, even though the current market value for them is (was?) less than 100 coins. I also try to push the market values higher by selling for higher than market.:)
  15. It's not the rules of BH that help to limit RWT, but the limited amount of space which it occupies as well as the limited amount of worlds in which it is active. It makes it much easier to monitor as opposed to having to try and watch all of wilderness spread across 150+ worlds, much less the entirety of the game world. Also, the BH rules allow for a player to pick up the equipment that their victim was carrying. Thus, to drop trade, you simply kill your victim and pick up what he was carrying.
  16. Lets see. What you seem to want is a portable tool kit. In real life, it is a piece of cloth or leather which has several "pouches" or slots sewn into it to slide different tools into. This would be the first item to be retrieved in order to make what you seem to be suggesting. The knife, chisel, lockpick(s) and hammer would easily fit into it (depending on the type of hammer). The needle would be able to be slipped into it as well, without even using a pouch, simply pin it into the cloth. A tinderbox is actually much smaller than what they make it out to be, often about the size of an Altoids tin. Besides the flint and steel, they usually have some charcloth for catching the spark and some tinder to keep it dry and handy. This could easily fit into a larger pouch in one of these kits. As to the saw, there could be a folding saw which could be added into the kit. If it's used for construction, this isn't actually realistic, as they have much different blade types. Oh well. The shears MIGHT be able to be stuffed into it, depending upon the type of shears you are specifying. I believe that the ones used for shearing sheep are not as large as you might think.
  17. Halberds are ONLY bought in isfaldar? They aren't available through the Grand Exchange? Trimed and God armors are only available through clue scrolls, yet they can be bought, sold, and used in F2P.

    Need 3k

Hmm, well, Need 3k is much easier to play with. You need 3k? What are you willing to do for it? Nothing? Don't need 3k very badly then, do you? In any case, unless they are specifically asking you for the 3k, ignore them. It's better than people who used to expect you to give or undersell an item that you're using to them so that they didn't have to go and find one themselves. (Rune Pickaxe, Rune Woodcutting Axe, rune platemail/scimmy) or just sell to them the tool that you're using so they wouldn't have to go and get it themself (such as a lobster cage).
  19. I can understand what you are saying, as I tend to be quite verbose when speaking in game. Fortunately for me, I do tend to type quite quickly as well. I learned how to type from some of the earliest MMORPG's called MUDs. They were entirely text, and if you didn't type in what you wanted to do correctly, such as cast a healing spell, it didn't work. You either learn to type quite quickly, or you end up dead quite quickly. In any case, practice your typing skills, it will pay off as many jobs require computer interaction, and any job of managerial level or higher will require you to make reports and such using word processors. Also, using smaller statements will help until you become a better typist, as well as breaking up your statements, which I find that I often have to do simply because the full course of dialogue simply will not fit within the parameters of the speech buffer, spoken, clan, or private.
  20. Forerunner, you didn't get THE black mark, you got A black mark. And, if you called him a noob 30 times, especially if it was in rapid succession, it would be spamming the chatbox, which is reportable under rule 1, offensive language. So, did you talk to this person later to see if they too received a black mark for offensive language?
  21. I believe that it was also one of the first attempts at a money sink. It's great armor so everyone wants it, but it degrades, so there is a continual upkeep payment. Therefore at least some of the cash that it helps you to bring in is being taken back out of the system.
  22. First of all, be proud of the accomplishment it took for you to receive your void armor when and how you did. It is that sense of pride that the people who are wearing the armor so much now believe that they have, although they know that it was not as hard to receive as it had been. And, as has been mentioned, people look at the requirements to wear something and judge how strong it is by that. It's also a way of showing off that they do have the stats to wear it. Perhaps it's silly, but such is pride, both the desire for it, and the poor judgments because of it.
  23. Firstly, recognizing a language is not understanding a language. Secondly, while it is most likely that the players were American, it is interesting that it is simply assumed that they were. After all, the British also bombed Germany, and, considering the amount of damaged caused to England, it would be fair to assume that they are much more likely to hold a grudge. Yes, even several generations later, such prejudice can become that ingrained into a community. Third, it was actually quite asinine of them to assume that you were German simply from a few lines as, as you said, they were lyrics to a song. One of my co-workers is a big fan of Rammstein and can often be heard attempting to sing some of their lyrics. These are the type to assume that I am perhaps French for saying something like C'est le vei, or Spanish/Mexican for quoting La Bamba lyrics. Finally, if they were actually American (quite likely) you could have really screwed with them by convincing them that what you were speaking was not actually German, but, perhaps, Swiss, Austrian, Bavarian or Luxembourger (I believe that German, or various dialects thereof are spoken in all of those regions at least parts of them, are they not?) If for no other reason that it's fun to screw with what little brains they possess. Continuing on the topic of language, I have seen players from several different countries (Norway, Germany, and several Spanish speaking countries as well as China) speaking their native tongues in game. I do not know these languages well enough to understand them completely, they may be saying just as horrible of things about myself and/or other players. I do know that persons from many other countries hold as high, if not a higher, disdain for Americans as these idiots appear to hold for Germans. While SOME Americans merit that disdain, so too do persons such as these merit the same. I do understand enough Spanish to know that I have seen several players swearing and using inappropriate language. I did not pay enough attention/have enough command of the language, to make certain that it was not directed at myself or other undeserving players. Honestly, I mostly ignore what is being said that is not specifically directed at me, so I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the conversation but to note a few of the words were "colorful". In any case, while I do not approve of the actions of those players and believe that their removal from the game will do nothing but improve it, I am disappointed in members of this board for assuming that they were American as well as in making the assumption that Americans are the only ones who engage in this type of action. Why is it so much easier to be embarrassed by the zealous actions of a few idiots than to be proud of quiet competence of the majority?
  24. In response to sees_all1: Umm, I just don't see it working. You "lock in" with your target, you have just locked out the person hunting you. Isn't that, effectively, duel arena, except their stake is their equipment?
  25. It is usually because they do not have the dedication required to get such a cape, so no one else must have the dedication to do it. Therefore, you must have cheated/AFK trained/botted to get the skill up to such a level. Also, they are calling you a skiller because you have one or more skills at 99 without having a combat skill at 99 (you might have one at 98, they'll still call you a skiller). The fact that you buy your runes does not prevent you from being a skiller, it just means that runecrafting is not one of those skills. Finally, cooking, fletching, and some other skills CAN be bought up to level 99, but you had to do something to get the money to be able to buy them up that high. So, in one way or another (unless you bought your gold), you did earn that cape, although most people who will use such taunts will not see it that way, or any other way which they cannot use to convince themselves that they are, in fact, better than you.
