1 itemers.....
What do you mean that level 85 isn't expecting to get attacked? He's someone's bounty, right? So, someone is going to attack him. Also, it's supposed to allow a free-for-all in it, from what I have read (haven't played). So, the level 100 is free to attack him, bounty or not. That's part of the point of bounty hunter, anyone CAN attack you, not that everyone will, therefore, you shouldn't take anything in that you aren't willing to lose, just like wildy was. As you noted, the level 85 can just run out, just like you could in wildy, although I am assuming that it's less difficult in bounty hunter. Ok, enough on the topic of the level 85 vs. level 100. Back to the 1-itemers. In the Bounty Hunter area, is it single combat only or are there multi-combat areas? If it allows multi-combat, you get a group together of people who want to bh "properly". If any one-item players come in, you gang jump them first and get them out of the game. If they come back, you do it again. Rinse and repeat as needed. However, as I remember hearing, there are many different views on what is the "proper" way to pk, the one that allows you to have fun is the "proper" way for you. For some people, the "fun" level is based on how much loot you get, for others, it's how many people you kill, and for still others, it's how high of a level player you are able to pwn. There are also those who consider the fun factor to be, win or lose, how close the fight is. They don't want your stuff, they DON'T want to pwn you (no challenge in that), they want to fight you and they want you to fight them. These, imho, are the best of the lot and the "true" pkers. You might also consider that some of the one-itemers are new players who aren't yet ready to risk expensive equipment in order to play. Perhaps you might try talking to some of the players to see which category they fall into. If they are actually new to pking, you might be better off teaching them more about pking. Take them to the fight pits to first teach them one-on-one pking and then to clan wars to teach them more about group pking. You might just end up making the entire thing better overall that way.

1 itemers.....
Is it honestly any worse than those who would one or three item in old wildy? They took what they were willing to risk, which was, honestly, nothing. Those people who one-item in BH plan on turning on their prayer to save that item when their hp get too low. Best thing to do is figure them for an easy kill and take them out fast. Honestly, it's a game of don't take what you aren't willing to lose. The level 85 asking the level 100 to stop is also ridiculous as the level 85 chose to risk their rune eq by entering bh with it on. And, if you aren't willing to lose it, go to clan wars or FOG. If you want an honest solution, bh with people you know and agree to gang jump people who one item before anyone else goes after their bounties. While it may seem harsh to those who one-item, it might get the point across.

ANOTHER members-only skill-summoning!!
Quite true, the scale is not nearly the same. The point, however, is still valid. While the f2p players are not paying directly to play, someone is paying to allow them to play. You could even further expand the comparison to broadcast TV vs. Cable TV. We'll use old cable TV, as I believe that the newer cable simply has too many commercials. Those who were willing to pay for cable, and able to receive it, were able to get all this extra content for what they paid. (P2P) However, this did not mean that people who only had broadcast tv did not get updates (such as the graphics updates) nor did it mean that they did not get new content (new shows, and even, sometimes, new channels). They did, however, get them at a much slower rate. There is also a growing trend of free community newspapers which are funded entirely through advertising revenue. From what I have read, these newspapers are actually of quite good quality. So, getting something for "nothing" is not unheard of, as a matter of fact, in some instances it is considered quite normal. Also, I could argue that some of the updates which were passed along to f2p were quite simply sound coding logic(graphics updates), or that they were to control the community as needed(Grand Exchange) or to replace something that was being removed (the PVP mini-games). Now, mind you, I am NOT complaining about the lack of updates for f2p, nor about p2p getting "another new skill". What I do dislike is the p2p players simply going "you don't pay, you shouldn't get anything". Mind you, not all p2p players do this so for those who do not, this is not directed at you. For those who wish to know, I am, and have been, f2p. And I will also jump all over people who simply go "f2p should have this that and the other thing" without giving any reason beyond the fact that they want it.

ANOTHER members-only skill-summoning!!
For those of you too young to remember, there's this thing called broadcast television. Companies pay the broadcasting studios to play television shows FOR FREE for viewers across the country. In exchange, the companies are allowed to show their advertisements during the broadcast. The more popular the show, the more the studios could charge the companies for showing the advertisements because more people would see them. So, while F2P may not be paying directly to play, someone is paying for them, much like some of your moms and dads are paying for you to play Runescape.

New Players (NOOBS) Getting A Bad Rap? - Post here!!!
Heh, alright, I'll see if I can contribute a bit here. A few days ago, I was down in the Stronghold of Security (I'm f2p) training my defense up. I like to keep my melee stats relatively equal. I was displaying combat level 85 at the time (86 now). There was also a level 93 and a level 100+(maybe 102 or 103). Someone else comes down the tunnel, sees the three of us there, says "noobs" and turns to walk off. I ask, "Why are we noobs? You're lower level." As he was displaying a combat level of 78. His response? "My main is level 95." As to the words newbie, newb, and noob, my own theory is that newb was a shortened version of newbie, and pronounced the same (new B). Both terms were used interchangeably on the MUDs that I used to play, and simply meant a player new to the game. Noob was the leetspeak version of newb, and became more predominant in games such as Half-life deathmatch, Unreal tournament, and other multi-player, fast-action games. Hitting two o's is "faster" than hitting e and w. As well, noob can easily be done with one hand, while the other hand is controlling the mouse or joystick. However, if someone is getting killed quite often, or walking into traps/ambushes that other players might consider to be obvious, they could be insulted by calling them a noob/inexperienced player. Thus, the term moves to being an insult. (I believe these games are also where owned/pwned became popularized.) In any case, with the increase of the more interactive online RPG's, which included PvP (Which is what Half-life, Unlreal tournament, and the other combat games effectively are), these players, and their terminology intermingled with the terminology of the RPG players from the MUDs, MUSHes and MOOs, resulting in newb and noob being considered entirely different terms. Well, anyone else care to comment?

Nerd or just plain bored?
A no-lifer is someone who spends so much time on the computer playing games, chatting on irc, whatever, that they neglect basic personal needs. I remember an episode of X-files where there was a person who had two thermoses next to his computer, one for input, the other for output, so he wouldn't have to leave his keyboard. That is a no-lifer. If you can stop to shower, and your diet is not normally Cheetos and Mt. Dew, you're probably ok. A nerd is someone who displays intelligence and shows an enthusiasm for just about anything but sports (cheerleading is included in this, showing enthusiasm for cheerleaders is not). i.e. comics, computer games, books, science, history, tabletop gaming, etc... If, however, you are a sports enthusiast who also likes some of these other topics, you're ok, just a little strange. Band geeks and Theater people tend to fall into their own groups and usually prefer it that way.

Profanity Filter
Actually, I agree that turning off the censor, or turning it down, should start as a members ability. At least for those who pay with a credit card, they should be able to set the censor filter at that point and password protect it if they wish. That way, an adult, who is paying for it themselves may shut off the profanity filter if they wish, but a younger player, who is having their parents pay for it would not. Of course, their parents could simply give the child the card/number to input themselves, but, if that is the case, the parent apparently believes that their child is responsible enough to be given access to that information, correct? In any case, once the password is set up, it should be accessible from the game options section, even if you go back to f2p. Yes, this does mean that I could pay for only one month of membership to get access to these controls, but by having paid for it, I have used a method to show that I am an adult, or the adult that did pay for it is able to set up the password. Now, shutting off your filter does not mean that what you say will not be filtered by others, just that what you see will not be filtered. Keeps you from spamming vulgarities in front of the kiddies, but they can do it to you. Not sure if I made much sense, lets see what you guys have to say about it.

.:.:FREAKY FORSESTERS:.:.
First time I was mining in the mining guild. Clicked to move away from him and one-hit killed a phesant(the wrong phesant). Second time I got him, I was burying bones in the Rimmington/Port Sarim dungeon. Got Lederhosen top that time.

A new mage to allow us to change our runescape names?
Heh, well, I don't think it would remove your name until you had a valid new one picked out Striker6.:) However, as it has been discussed before, name changing can cause a lot of problems. Not only with high scores, but imagine having to search through ALL of the player files in order to change friends and ignore lists. Also, what about Abuse Reports that record...the person's name...so on and so forth. Unlike other games where player records are seperate from the characters, here they appear to be combined. Just a bit of food for thought.

a new random to help encourage friendlyness?
Heh, I think the point is to encourage other players to help as well. You can also think of it as conditioning. By getting players to think that they MIGHT get a reward by helping other players, they will be more likely to do so. Eventually, this may bring back the community spirit and feeling that RSC had, correct?

a new random to help encourage friendlyness?
So much to say about this.... First of all, coding it wouldn't be that hard. Using a random number generator you can pick out the clothing. Also, a large(and growing) array of names could be used to pick out a random name which could be loaded from a text file. Making it load offscreen wouldn't be too hard, and then you just put in a "walk to" command, which would just flag the character instead of a location or it could use the follow function. You would also have to remember to flag the map dot white(player color) instead of yellow(mob color). As to the question and answer, 2d array, or a linked list with each node containing a question and answer. The linked list would probably be better because then you could set up an array of answers to be searched through. As to getting items...well, I don't know about that. After all, if I'm out chopping Yews and some newbie comes up and asks me for 10 logs...I doubt I'm going to hand them over nor will I be willing to hand over my rune hatchet. As well, you would have to limit the areas in which this random would appear. You may be able to justify a new player in Members worlds, you might even be able to justify them in wildy (although you might have other players trying to kill them then), but in some of the dungeons, you would not be able to justify them being able to make it in there. There will also be ways for players to recognize the TRN. Such as those with public chat off. As well, if they don't respond to other players offering to help. They will always have to include the name of the player in any form of address, etc. Mind you, I like the idea and I don't think it would be all that hard to program, just making it realistic enough that it would fool players consistantly, that would be the hard part.

Offensive spells skull a player.
Ok, just to get this straight, you're saying that mages don't get skulled when they cast offensive spells at players in wildy and you think they should, right? Well, if that is the case, I can agree with it.

Diango's April Fool's Toy.
How about some action figures? You can play with them and they can even interact with the horse toy? You can have: Borfan the Adventurer with action sword swing and optional battle axe. Mordark the Mage with battle staff and lifelike firestrike casting action. Derilith the Dragon with shooting flame breath. Baleth the Giant with throwing rock and giant club. And... T'kchor the Greater Daemon.

Report warning
I agree that something needs to be done to make reporting suspected macroers easier, and some way to allow them to respond to show that they aren't macroing would be a nice touch. However, as with any automated system, they can find ways to automatically respond to such prompts. So, the messages would have to change on a regular basis, and show up in such a manner that, while a human would have little difficulty responding, a program would find it hard to decipher.

Runescape Prepaid Member Cards!
The problem comes in with manufacturing those cards. I doubt Jagex has the manufacturing facilities to make them and the cost for making them might make their cost prohibitive, although that is something to be looked into. However, don't hold your breath as doing everything electronically is much cheaper than putting out paper versions. But, something like this, even if it is an electronic gift card and not a physical one, could be a nice way to help a fellow runescaper celebrate special events. Grandparents could use them as gifts if they know their grandkids play. Friends could send them to each other for birthdays and other occasions. I supose options could be set up, including a generic gift card which could be used on any account, and a specific "gift" which could be given to a specific character. For example, say I know a friends birthday is comming up. He and I play all the time together. So, for his birthday, I send his character a member gift. On his b-day, or as soon as he logs in afterward, he recives a message through the Jagex message center which gives him a personal message from me and an auto portion of the message which tells him about his gift. But, Jagex can see this as detrimental as well, because, if a lot of these gifts are purchased at the same time, it may look like there is going to be a large influx of new members, when most of them are going to a few users and need to be spaced out over time. The specific gifts don't have this problem, but the generic cards do. However, the generic cards can be used for any account you may have and not aimed at a specific one. Anyone else want to contribute?

compensation for RSC players
Thanks Raichase, I was wondering where Betsy had wandered off to, and don't forget, she prefers dark ale. As well, some Wiccans (among others) may be offended by your assertion that magic isn't real. As well, who is to say that dragons aren't, or weren't at one time? After all, what is a dragon but a large lizard...kinda like a dinosaur maybe? In any case, if enough people believed that the three-hit/second/round rule were truly that great, don't you believe that it would have been kept? Most changes that are made are made because the MAJORITY of the people who play find them to be better. Face it, PKers are not in the majority. And, subsequently, things which they often find beneficial to their profession are usually frowned upon by the non-PKing majority.

Poisoned?
Heh, it's too benificial and simple to not like, unless someone doesn't like the shade of green you picked.:) In any case, I would like something like this if I were a member, so I'll give it a virtual thumbs up as well.

compensation for RSC players
According to the news posts, on August 3, 2005, RSC went members only anyway, so F2P players have been unable to play it since then. Therefore, there has been no free version to remove since then.

Hellcats!
Now who determins what is and isn't a standard household pet? How about ferrets? Sugargliders? How about an armidillo? Then we can start getting into exotic pets, big cats, wolves, bears...moving into fantasy animals all the way up to dragons. And, we can't forget horses and other mounts. Why not a rideable dragon? You can fly across the landscape and not have to worry about anything like terrain. Oh, and pack animals, to carry more stuff for us. As well as barding (animal armor). After all, we want to protect our animal friends, right? After that, why not move into hirelings and followers? You could even have followers who were able to fight for you, deposit and withdraw from the bank for you. My goodness, after a bit, you wouldn't have to do anything but give orders any more. Wouldn't that just be grand?

Another Hillarious Scam Attempt [UPD: Page 3]
Well, today I got my first "I'm jagex staff, you wanna be a mod?" scam attempt. This person was...pathetic. When I asked about his lack of a crown, he said that he was a minor Jagex staff and they didn't get them. He said he had been playing for 3 years, yet he didn't have any stats in the hi scores. Even after I told him he had been reported...twice, he still insisted that he was staff and he even offered to prove it by having me temp banned. Blah, I hope he gets his main account perm banned.

rare items - my solution and ideas
Under that same type of logic, it's not fair that I don't have a rubber chicken. As well, it's even more unfair, because I won't ever be able to get one. Shall we have those removed as well? Maybe Diago can just start selling them?
-
Hellcats!
Can't you also get fish? In any case, in order to make it "right" each type of animal with have to have it's own behaviors. That means each type will be different, unlike modifiying an existing type. Cats are cats and will behave similarly, no matter that they are different types. Cats are also more independent and are more likely to ignore you than attempt to follow any command. Dogs, on the other hand, are very loyal, willing to follow commands and very protective. So, if they put in dogs, they will want to implement player commands for the animals(sit, stay, roll over) and probably put in some automatic defense type things, i.e. the dog will attack whatever is attacking you. Then we'll start getting into the exotic pets, mounts, etc, so on and so forth.

Player Owned Stores
One problem I can see with this is which world is it accessed from? Especially if they are in POHes. The second option could be seen as too much like autoing, as that is effectively what you are doing, especially if you are actually logged out.

My ideas for easter
Ooohhh, bunny bash, bunny bash...I vote for Raichases idea. Just a whole load of bunnies spawn all over Runescape and your job is to kill as many as you can. For each x amount you kill, you get a reward. Just watch out for the rabbit from the cave of Caerbannog.(Monty Python reference)
