  1. if that's the kind of empathy you show your own flesh and blood, i wouldn't be so condescending towards those who don't empathize with complete strangers ;) THAT is why I want you as a friend! :)
  2. Fixed it. Oh that's just horrible sportsmanship. Newsflash: YOU LOST, get over it. Yeppers -- the massive overwhelming majority of 9.1% has spoken! Woot!!!! So even the tip.it community was wrong when more twice as many people voted for free trade and wilderness than those that voted against? What exactly are you pitching here? Do you have any absolute proof that jagex faked the poll, or, moreover, that more than 50% of players didn't want free trade and wilderness? People wanted free trade, they got it, and are enjoying it. There are loads of people, including me, who have come back to the game for the sole reason of the update, so that's another thing to consider while you are whining that you got yourself scammed/lured(it takes two to tango). LOL -- you got me wrong kiddo. I'm not against free-trade. I'm against whining!
  3. Well sweetie -- I have three children who have all played Runescape at one time or another. My twins were responsible for getting me started in the game. Back when free trade was still around, I gave each of my children a large sum of cash to do with as they would. Within 24 hours, all three had been scammed of the money I had given them. I considered it a lesson learned then and there. One child, my youngest, who was only 8 at the time, immediately quit playing the game and went on to play Maple Story. Only to have a real life friend steal her account from there some time later. Of course, they denied stealing the account and no amount of discussions with that child's parents ever managed to rectify the problem. Actually, they were horrible despicable people and we were fortunate to be done with them when it was all over. ... and yes, there was certainly a lesson learned there too. My twins continued to play Runescape though. One quit playing two years ago to spend more time playing WoW. He lost his account when it was hacked by some gold-farming operation. Took him a while to get that back. Hmmm - there must have been a lesson learned there too. The one child of mine who continues to play Runescape has, so far, avoided being scammed since free trade came back. But you know what my kids learned from all of this? Don't come crying to me when they [bleep] up. End of story.
  4. "If you give a man fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he can get unemployment or disability cheques within 13 weeks ..." I days of old, I used to hang out at the RSOF "Quest Help" section and the most common question asked there was "Ken Eye DUE DT?!?!?" <.< My patented response was "If you have to ask, then the answer is 'NO' ... " Seriously the answer to your question is very simple. The Internet has made people intellectually lazy. They don't want to look anything up. They don't want any answers that involve them doing any more work than they need to do, either. What they want is the cheap quick fix that will earn them big bucks and no whammies. NO WHAMMIES! NO WHAMMIES! STOP!!! dangit. Ot: lazy people are lazy. answer the new questions and just give stock answers to the rest. Precisely, which is why my stock answer is: "Look it up ..."

  6. what misery? Dunno -- I think he MAY be referring to those people who have had their accounts hacked and banks cleared out ... it whas rhetorical. a fool and his money are easily parted, and it brings no misery to me. Your empathy for your fellow player is remarkable. Will you be my friend, pl0x?
  7. Hello there. You're in a game primarily aimed at children and thus populated by said children who are learning what it means to grow up. It should be understood there'd be plenty of whining. Just let it go. A vital social element has been returned to the game, and Runescape now feels like a MMO once again instead of a boring single-player grind. Most players I encounter are delighted by free trade. Better for these kids to learn the hard way about scams in a game than being sucked into a ponzi scheme in reality. Better to learn about how people are truly like with their polite masks taken off in a game, than losing your job over some vile gossip circulating in the workplace. Now, what I find amusing are that some supposed adults get taken in by scams thought of by children. When are you lot going to learn to restrain your greed? Hah! My own attitude toward people in the game has softened. I've witnessed so many kind and generous acts that it's almost restored my faith in the community. Well, my area of the community, at least. Sure, a good amount of the gift giving is just people wanting to feel good about themselves by helping others, but hey, that's alright. They're sharing their happiness. As for the riffraff luring, scamming, and general mischief adored by children everywhere, they'll get what's coming to them soon enough. They're not worth the time even paying attention to them. After all, look what's happened to the free botters. And kindly lay off the horse that is American gun control. It's been beaten to death in countless forums. 1. I never said ANYTHING about gun control. :P 2. Yes, it's wonderful to see those acts of generosity -- especially from a game which you purport is supposed to teach our children "real life lessons". I bet those kids accepting free items today will likewise learn valuable lessons about avoiding accepting free items from Bad'touchie the Clown ...
  8. Personally, I find it particularly funny that a fair number of people wanted free trade because they thought it'd make them wealthier, and are now ticked off about free trade because it hasn't increased their wealth at all.
  9. Which is one of the reasons why my clan chat was called "Look It Up" for the longest time ...
  10. what misery? Dunno -- I think he MAY be referring to those people who have had their accounts hacked and banks cleared out ...
  11. This is the exact same question I ask every person I know who voted in favour of Free Trade and the Wildy, and has been subsequently scammed or PK'd as a result. So far? None of them seem very happy about it any more ... Yes, I know it's cruel and heartless -- but hey -- the reason why I was originally, and remain, in favour of the controlled trade method over free trade, was because controlled trade reduced the whining, crying and complaining about scamming and begging to a minimum. "You cannot 'cheat' an honest man ..."

  13. Oh hell yeah! I've seen the beachcomber/fishing bots at Catherby solve randoms all the time. <_< Now, if only we could find a way to kill those ones off ...
  14. Yes! I do! It's ridiculous and I, for one, am abo[bleep]ely SICK and TIRED of it! Yes! SICK and TIRED of all the whining little crybabies who [bleep] and cry and moan about how they got scammed, and how they got pk'd, and how people are always BEGGING for crap all the time. It's so ANNOYING! I mean really c'mon already! Get over it! Evolve or die! You voted for having free trade! You voted for having scams! You voted for allowing real world trading! It was an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY!!!! Face the facts people!!! 91% of 1/100th of those people eligible to vote on this issue voted in favour of free trade and the Wildy! That means that a whopping 9.1% of those people, eligible to vote on this issue, wanted this, and dammit, with THAT VAST OVERWHELMING MAJORITY they should GET exactly what they WANT and if they WANT TO CRY about it NOW, then they should damn well be allowed to cry about it! For the other silent minority of 89.9 of the people who DID NOT vote, well you've no one to blame but yourselves! So STFU about it already people. I am tired of all your WHINING already!!!!
  15. This is the exact same question I ask every person I know who voted in favour of Free Trade and the Wildy, and has been subsequently scammed or PK'd as a result.
  16. Meh, I wonder if Durial321 will get unbanned?
  17. I have to admit the term "karma" really does come to mind ... Edit: I would like to add that, for some time now, I've said that the botters will likely reap their just desserts, because it was entirely likely that these programs carried with them keyloggers and/or other similar programming. It comes as no surprise to me that this may now have happened. For certain, while I was fishing on Feb 1, I certainly did notice far fewer bots around, although I thought it more likely that everyone was out PKing and not fishing. That said, I have seen the return of bots to the fishing spots in Catherby, although not in the record numbers that predicted would happen after they re-instituted "Cheatscape".
  18. I made this comment on a similar thread in the general discussion forum, and I thought i may be appropriate here: :P
  19. Jeez - and I thought that *I* was cynical ... Personally, I like this idea. I think it's cute.
  20. I like this response.
  21. LMFAO! Okay -- now THAT's classic ... Wow, I can just imagine that. :ohnoes: Personally, I get this feeling I'd bless graves on case-to-case bases. Like, if you've just been an idiot and died when you lost focus while swearing at me, your grave will probably fall apart pretty soon. Not that I want to be mean, but yeah. Agreed with this 100%. If you're polite and friendly, I'll bless your grave. If you're a tool -- not so much ...
  22. Um -- has the GE not updated today?
  23. LMFAO! Okay -- now THAT's classic ...
