RC training, without FFL
Personally I would say use the abyss. Here's the logic: Why do you want lvl 91? To double nats and earn a heap of money. Why would you therefore throw away the opportunity to earn a heap of money on the way there? I'm currently lvl 84, and in getting to lvl 91 through the abyss I will earn 65million (profit after taking away the cost of essence). If I decided to spend 60million to get to 91 through FFL, I would essentially be 125million down! You still have to make a heck of a lot of nats to catch up that sort of deficit, or even to earn back the money that you spent! On the other hand, if you do find continual trips to the abyss just too tedious, then do as others suggest and mix it up a bit. For incentive you should try and make sure that all the essence you use in FFL is bought from the profit u made going through the abyss. G'luck.

Tradeable vs. Non-Tradeable
And making that 200k takes two or three hours? If it was tradeable nobody would earn it. If you don't believe me, look at the mage training arena. Not very populated. As a result of infinity being tradeable nobody does the training arena, and there isn't very much infinity in circulation. People can make better money other ways. If lumberjack was tradeable, it would be the same situation. Barely any around, and nobody ends up earning it themselves. Fair point huta, but that's when it comes down to desirability of the item vs. the amount of time it takes to get it. Would I spend 10hours completing a quest/mini game to get full Guthans if it weren't tradeable? Yes because of the massive benefits. Do I want a set of rainbow-coloured robes that give only an additional +10 bonus over mystic that I couldn't possibly wear anywhere I was afraid to lose them due to the cost? Not really. [edit] PS don't let Laikrob see this bit! It is a really tough balance though, because as you say, there is always the opportunity cost of obtaining tradeable items. If something takes a set amount of time, say 2hrs then unless the item is worth 400-600k+ people won't do it as they can make better money elsewhere. That's why barrows works so well, and also why I don't mine my own pure ess :D

Thanks! That's quite depressing lol.

Tradeable vs. Non-Tradeable
I do agree that there should be non-tradeable items such as the chompy hat which is indeed a status symbol, equally gold castle wars armour is correctly non-tradeable. However, I can buy fishing potions, a slayer mask, gloves of silence, dwarven stouts and spottier capes all of which give bonuses to certain skills - why shouldn't I be able to buy lumberjack clothes? I'll also bet that you don't go back for a ramble in Burgh de Rott once you've got your lumberjack kit! If you could sell "full lumberjack" for 50k, 100k, 200k (or whatever the price might be) I'm sure you'd be much more tempted!

"Geez, My Luck Sucks", Stories
Generally I consider myself reasonably lucky in the game, I've had my share of decent drops, and although I did have a dry streak of 80+ at barrows that was broken with a spear drop. When bad luck does strike me it's usually pretty costly though.. I lagged out at Black Demons and lost Guth Spear and a load of other stuff which (at the time) came to around 8mil.. After seeing several posts by Zoidnerd on his staking wins I thought I'd try my hand since my combat skills are identical to his and he's pretty successful (bit of an understatement!). I lost a total of about 5.5mil and the final indignity was losing a boxing match to a lvl 109 who had lower stats than me in EVERY skill... My first experience of bad luck/ill judgement is available in the Archive of Wisdom here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=2854660

Tradeable vs. Non-Tradeable
I'm sure most people have noticed this already, but there seems to be a growing trend towards new items being untradeable. Recent updates have included: Lumberjack outfit Anchor Fighter Torso "winged helmet thing" - [edit] The Helm Of Neitziznot - thanks skully I'm sure there are others as well, added to existing non-tradeables such as barrows gloves etc. Personally I've got no issue with there being a quest requirement to equip certain items - Barrows gloves being a really good example. However, why not stick with the precedent made with dragon weapons? In other words you can buy, sell, drop or pick up a dragon weapon, but until you've completed the relevant quest you can't equip it. I'm not a pker, so this isn't a whinge about the lack of profit I now get after I've "pwned j00", ahem. More a question as to why people who choose to play Barbarian Assault shouldn't be rewarded with a tradeable fighter torso, that they can sell for profit to reflect the 4 or so hours it takes to get the thing! Equally, I have no intention of rambling anywhere near Burgh de Rott escorting the helpless/hapless wherever it is they have the urge to visit, BUT, I wouldn't mind having a lumberjack's outfit sat in my wardrobe doing not a lot. Why wouldn't this be tradeable as an incentive to play the game? I'm not sure if Jagex think "well if they have to do game X to get item Y then everyone will play game X" - they might, but they won't come back and do it again. Players want reward for the time spent in game, new items are great but one of the best bonuses about owning such an item first is you can sell it for a heap of cash (e.g. D2H etc). So long as the item is desirable - such as the fighter torso, people will return to get another/multiple since they can see a value in terms of GP. In the long run this will lead to a greater population and longevity of mini games - see Barrows as the perfect example of this. Imagine if Barrows sets were untradeable! How many people would be playing there now? Thoughts?

The race to 91 Runecrafting (update: new racer added!)
Yep, the holy grail of many a Runescaper, and the path to great riches, who wouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want to craft double nats? The problem is, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not all that easy to get. You can of course throw millions into pure ess and ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åpower̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

If you could Change your Runescape Name would you?
Nope, I like my name and it has meaning. I'm not a great fan of the random letters and numbers I see in game masquerading as "names"...

Any cases of Extreme Luck?
Best luck I had was on treasure trail.. I'd rarely got anything decent (like most people) then on one particularly long trail the reward I got was a robin *and* a black cav... also got some noted sharks, a rune plate and something else which I forget

Debate on which is the harder 99 skill
You can't simply base it upon the time that your mates took to complete levels.. They play different amounts of hours per day and almost certainly use different methods. The only true way to compare is to work out the max xp per hour using the most effective method (regardless of cost). With that in mind: Runecrafting using w66 laws = 35k xp per hour Farming = 9.6k per hour unattended(4 magics - 8hrs to grow, and 4 palms 14.6hrs to grow). However, this is not a true reflection on effort since this is a unique skill that has a set timeline. Realistically, to plant and harvest these 8 trees would probably take an hour. Thus you would get the full xp of 95.5k xp for an hours effort... You can do something else whilst they're growing! Slayer = ? xp per hour (Axe man jack maybe you could help?) Hard to calculate due to the luck of tasks, but assuming cannoning all tasks where it is possible. Mining = 45k xp per hour(?) powermining granite, not sure, don't mine much anyone who knows please confirm/update Agility = ? Most effective probably ape atoll after lvl 73, but wildy is pretty quick too. Again, anyone who knows the xp per hour please update. ^ when the gaps in the data above are known then you'll have a view on which is the "hardest" in terms of most time-consuming for the effort put in. To my mind, farming is not comparable to any of the others, as although it is slow to level it is not effort intensive in the same way that others are...

Killing abyss pkers?
except then they tele lol. Best thing to do is just annoy them until they leave. Easiest way is to 1 item with a dds and just keep going back spec, spec, spec, spec, die (protect item) glory to edge, rinse, repeat. They soon get bored wasting the runes killing you...

Crafting level
i think he means if you pick it yourself.... oops yep you're right I did.. Soz, getting late here
-
300k fast...
I've no idea how long spinning 3k flax will take but i'd be surprised if it's quicker than running laws - it'll take an hour to get 300k law running. On the other hand of course, spinning the flax will give you crafting xp as well so there is some advantage in that approach.
-
Crafting level
If you're p2p the cheapest way of raising crafting is spinning flax into bowstrings - you'll make a profit if you buy the flax and make an even bigger profit if you pick it yourself. The xp isn't bad, but isn't 'the fastest'. edit: as per marnuke's observation

Debate on which is the harder 99 skill
I agree that rc'ing is one of the toughest, at top speed it's about 16-18k per hour going through the abyss. 91 rc actually doesn't increase the amount of xp per hour though, unless you choose to hire runners. It just increases the profit of running through the abyss :) Using runners the xp per hour is apparently somewhere around 35k xp per hour.

Nice one Jagex-Quote DIRECTLY from Andrew
Barihawk, whilst I don't doubt for a second that you have contacts with Jagex staff I still maintain that the figures you are quoting are way off target. You quoted earlier in this thread a sum of $9 million in costs for the bandwith of pings from signature files that auto update, since the requests are only against the high score servers (not even the world servers) that just has to be wrong. Alternatively Jagex are paying the most extortionate prices for server space that I have ever seen. Additionally, $9million dollars is 90% of Jagex's total costs for the financial year ending April 2006 (UK financial year runs april to april). Andrew's post indicates that auto look-ups were costing them an estimated 50% of the bandwith used for high score look-ups (not total bandwith). I'd suggest that your contact is possibly exagerating! Personally (to get back on topic a bit), I think that the removal of the stat sigs auto look-up is a good thing. Anything that has the potential to improve performance for players rather than bots is good news. It's also inspired me to create my own, more personal sig. The rule to remove direct links to worlds I can understand, but is a bit frustrating for 2 reasons. Firstly it's a handy utility, but ultimately it's only a few extra clicks so no real problem. Secondly it means that 3rd party clients are (for the most part) in breach of Jagex rules until they are updated to comply!

Debate on which is the harder 99 skill
Slayer by miles. Farming - plant highest tree seeds you have, go off, train something else, walk round collect xp. Takes a while but easy.
