  1. no, he was charging for his service. now its new and free. A list of: favorite words: rofl (say it: r-ah-f-oh-l), sheesh, confuzzle, perpendicular Goals: Write a best-selling novel, become the author of a popular manga love interests: girls, reading, soccer, paintball.... favorite television show: mythbusters favorite animal: Chickadee or ruby-throated hummingbird favorite color: gold just wondering what you come up for me. : Hmm, now I don't want to hi-jack here, but I thought the following names might suit you unorclan: Chicka Sheesh (no explanation necessary) Right Angler (perpendicular fisherman) PB AURTHOR (PB = Paintball, AU = chemical symbol for Gold, RTH = ruby throated hummingbird, AURTHOR = mispelt author) I also thought Mithbusta (as in mithril) was pretty alright. Or, if you want to get accused of hero-worship you could go for N0valist - as in novelist. :D
  2. But the point is (as has been made in other threads) that people still have to earn that money some how... And clearly, not many people can afford to get 99 cons, or, they choose to spend their money on other (cheaper) skills. Therefore the skill itself might be quick to level, but is inherently difficult because of the time needed on other skills/activities to earn that money. If you were to choose to try and level construction to 99 without spending money (mine limestone, make bricks) it would be equally as hard as runecrafting through the abyss!
  3. Stangest for me is below. I've also got an entire mining level in there! I'd also like to see someone get a 99 from Tears of Guthix! The only possible time you can do this though is if it is your final 99.... Don't know if any of the top players have done this.
  4. Way to go on the intelligent, factual argument you've presented for discussion. Happily Jagex is currently busy tailoring their updates for players just like you.
  5. Basically, prior to PC your HP xp would be directly related to your overall combat xp. Gin_and_Tonic has described that relationship and provided the formula for working out what your HP would be if you had never used PC (or a cannon for that matter). My "proper" HP would be about 8.9m xp versus my current xp of 6.8mil had I not used PC from 92-98 Attack and got most of my range xp from using a cannon.
  6. Sorry Jake but I disagree, it impacts us all. The time in which Jagex have spent developing a password filter could have been spent on developing other in game content. I'm all for safeguarding players interests through enhanced website security etc. But really, a ditch to stop people "accidentally" wandering into the wilderness and a filter to stop you telling someone else your password? What age range/IQ level are they catering to? And what happened to learning from your own mistakes? I'm also absolutely intrigued as to what goes through someone's mind when they think it's a good idea to type their password into chat anyway. I wonder if they'll do the same for credit card numbers now? "hmmm, it looks as if you're trying to give away your credit card details... Are you sure this is wise?"
  7. What I've tended to notice as my cb level has increased is that you get pestered more the higher you get. Obviously this makes sense if you look at it logically. If you want to ask a question in game, whether it be advice, request to buy something etc you're going to ask the person who you feel is most likely to know the answer/have the item etc. The assumption being that the higher/highest combat level is the most likely. Unfortunately, unlike the crowd here on tip.it, a lot of players in the game are rude or ungrateful or obnoxious, and frequently all three. Often what this leads to is stereotyping, whereby higher levels don't respond to lower levels as they have grown to expect these behaviour types. Lower levels therefore perceive higher levels to be arrogant or overly self-absorbed. Personally I will respond to any level player, higher or lower if they are polite, equally, I will ignore any level player if they are rude. I'm happy to say that my ignore list is a fantastic melting pot of players from lvl 3 to lvl 126 :D
  8. Sadly you didn't put enough thought into it... If sufficient people stopped runecrafting the result would be a lesser supply of Nats, which would result in the price of nats going up (it hasn't). Nats are currently 300-310ea the elasticity of demand for nats has been proven to be relatively inelastic within this range. In other words, people will continue to buy nats in great bulk for a price greater than 310ea (usually up to ~330ea). Above this figure demand starts to wane slightly, so until such times as nats are >330ea you can rest assured that the army of high alchers are still bringing plenty of inflationary gp into the game. Leaving aside the cyclical nature of the rares market, what you should be looking at is where people are spending their money if not on rares. Arguably this could be raw materials, although looking at a selection of raw materials indicates that if anything prices are on a downward rather than upward trend which would in turn suggest that this is not the case. Alternatively it might suggest that so many people have turned to collecting raw materials that supply in those markets is greater than demand. Another economic factor that would see prices drop across most items, and in particular luxury goods (such as rares in the rs economy) would be uncertainty or anticipated change. This would usually result in consumers saving money rather than spending it in preparation for dealing with change/disaster etc. In runescape terms this might mean a large update (though personally, I doubt that bracelets have had this sort of impact). EDIT: PS I'm still crafting nats, as are most of the regular people that I usually craft with and/or see crafting on my home world.
  9. Was sharing this really worth bumping a year old topic?
  10. Another step on the ladder: Thanks again for the support! And g'luck on 99 carguy, that's awesome stuff
  11. Fire Giants because they bring back memories (almost all my combat training from lvl 80-105)... If these guys dropped clues they'd probably be the perfect training monster. Fast xp, decent amount of rune items drops, d-med drop, herb drops, you can bury the bones for Leo to help you bank, and with Guthans you can stay there for ever...
  12. It does NOT slow you doen for Andrew's sake!! :x YES it does! If it doesn't slow you down then you weren't going quick enough in the first place. Plus the little cape bloke is near where you have to click on the ditch so any misclick and you get offered the opportunity to buy a team cape... Joy.
  13. I've noticed a few people saying that this is now the case. THAT update is even worse than the ditch for the dim. It really is rare for me to complain about updates, normally if I don't like them I just ignore them. But really, I doubt that even with considerable thought they could have come up with worse updates for the runecrafting community. EDIT: there are movements going on... yet, still bad news for green dragon slayers... Good to see that they're responding quickly to feedback :D
  14. I quit because they are making things way to easy. Ooh you accuse my credibility because I don't have high stats, you don't think I've mass rune crafted with the abyss before? Gee, what a total bottomless accusation. Hmm, I don't recall questioning your credibility (much less accusing it, whatever that might mean) based upon your stats, all I am stating is that you have not spent sufficient time on any skill, let alone runecrafting, to understand what impact a seemingly small delay has on the total time taken. Whilst I didn't actually accuse you of not having mass runecrafted, the answer is no, I don't think you have. Your total rc xp is the equivalent of 10k nats through the abyss, that is quite simply not mass runecrafting. I'm not saying don't make the game harder for newbies (nor anyone else) I'm requesting that the game doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator of the witless. Skills should be hard to train, but this should be achieved without adding pointless time traps. I'm sure people would complain if they were forced to run a lap of Catherby after cooking each load of sharks (though cooking would still be quicker than RC if this was introduced). So your telling me Farming isn't slow? I believe Hohto answered this in a previous post If the sign was so massive, they would have seen it. They did it to stop the teleport bug. Where you can be dragged into level 5 wilderness without the sign popping up. The sign took up approx 50% of the game screen.. How much bigger did it need to be? Regarding the teleport bug - TRADE IN A BANK. That's why I refer to people as incurably stupid. It's really not hard to avoid being 'lured'. I don't believe it was a bug. The wilderness has been that way for 6 years, most people do seem to have the hang of it - big sign, little numbers ahhh, I'm in the wildy. The issue is that they are not trying to improve the community in an effective manner. Luring, quite rightly was made against the rules, but improving the community would punish the wrong-doers (i.e. Lurers) not those who play the game within the rules (i.e. Abyssal Runecrafters). I am "ranting" about a slow skill being made slower for no good benefit. I'm sure that the mentally challenged who lost out to lurers previously will find a suitably brainless alternative to lose their belongings and whinge about.
  15. All this coming from someone who retired without amassing more than 800k xp in a single skill..... The point that people are making here is that runecrafting IS hard, using the abyss to runecraft is arguably the slowest skill in the game already and in order to "protect" the incurably stupid who failed to notice a massive great sign, Jagex have slowed it down even further.
  16. 1. You have still not justified calling him elitist, but I'm sure Hohto can argue his own corner. 2. Mining is NOT slower than runecrafting. It doesn't matter how many times you try and say that it is, you'll still be wrong each time.
  17. Have you read the arguements against the ditch yet? First of all, now you can't run straight to the zamorak mage by using the minimap. This slowers down the slowest skill in whole game and makes it less convenient. I personally believe that everyone who got lured actually deserved it. If you had any common sense and sense of self protection, you wouldn't fall for those newbish tricks. For second, we just got a rule which makes it a reportable offence. At times like this I seriously don't know how young and gullible players Jagex tries to attract. Low leveled players get a new short quest with horrible rewards and almost no stat reqs almost every week. Now they are adding more things to babysit these players. And you my ignorant fellow are an elitest scum. Don't know if I spelt elitist right or spelt 'spelt' right but thats not the point. READ THE REST OF MY POST CAREFULLY NOW: When you cross the ditch, you are not in the wilderness yet, so you CAN click on the mage on the mini map still. Have you rced with the new ditch yet? I suggest you try it, rcing has not been nerfed, and you are over reacting. Slowed down? 2 seconds? Slowest skill? I think not. With the abyss it isn't the slowest. Have you ever been mining or even raised agility? How is Hohto being elitist? You really think that players who *don't* fall for lures are elite?? Elite is used to indicate the top percentile, not the majority. Whilst personally I think that Jagex are right to try and remove all forms of luring from the game, does it really have to come at such a cost to the average player? Oh, and for your information: RC through the abyss (using sup energy pots) is absolute max 25k xp per hour. Mining = ~40k per hour Agility = ~45k per hour So to turn your question upon yourself, have YOU ever rc'd before? Ditch the Ditch I say.
  18. Excellent, an entire update for the remedials. The sort of thing that players who are unable to answer Niles' questions have been crying out for. For the rest of us however it's just an unnecessary obstacle designed to irritate. Happy Days.
  19. Gratz buddy, awesome achievement. Couldn't believe how quickly you got it! What's next up?
  20. Time wise you're quite right mario, it is faster than FFL and is therefore time effective. Cost wise however, the most effective is fire runes (Oddfaery2's blog highlights the reasons for this). Having said all that, I like the incentive of immediate monetary gain from crafting nats through the abyss and at top speed I can hit 21k xp per hour. I prefer that option to mucking around with lunar magics and being left with thousands of lava runes which have limited use and an even more limited market to sell to. Back on topic, nice work Uular  and thanks to all for the continued support.
  21. Okies the race is on! Uular I'll add you to front page now. In the meantime the pressure is on Saidin: And, for those of you worried that Uular is a few levels behind, fear not the guy can craft nats so quickly he gets almost as much xp per hour as using Fast Free Laws!! Should be a close thing. 'Luck all.
  22. aha, it's that time of month already is it? I'll vote the same as I did last month and say it's between: Slayer slow and dependent on tasks that you get, but a lot more fun than runecrafting which is almost as slow but earns you heaps more cash than mining which is slow, tedious and not great money.
  23. Don't forget I'm in too now  :D Yah, I'll be updating the front page to make sure it's obvious that you're in. Hopefully I'll still retain the support of JAmes and cowmasta even though I'm not the underdog now!
