  1. I wont stop you from trying to convince the Pirates from joining up, its just you kinda have the problem that the Pirates are Pirates and are wanted for piracy which is why you are being hired by a pair of guards to deal with them in the first place...
  2. I stopped at 25 seconds lol. My friends and I don't even sound that bad sining winter wrap-up... Then again, we sing at our job like.... 6+ times a day too. Yeah, I only managed to make it a minute and a half, and that was largely because I think I have actually met a few of the people who are singing it in person before...
  3. Well, the only way I can think of them being related are the fact that both Fallout and GURPS feature the core features of most Roleplaying game short of a freeform RPG. In terms of setting, it all depends upon the Setting the GM decides to use, which currently seems to be Star Control which is not even remotely similar to Fallout's setting unless you have a problem with setting things in a date in the future.
  4. Well, to answer specifically the Screensaver time registry is : "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveTimeOut" (there is a duplicate value in your user account as well, but they change together.) Your issue is that you need to reload the user settings, which is not something I can help with.
  5. Ah, Sorry about that I just thought you were saying something else with a slightly different meaning (in my book I would say you are suggesting writing collaborative fiction, as opposed to roleplaying[i take the view that roleplaying is more of a group exercise than for a pair]). While Its not entirely down the alley of a majority of the Tavern you may find a few people who would be up for it. I personally would find it to be interesting, but I am far from an ideal person to do a collaborative story with, due to my inability to actually write several core areas of fiction which leads to me only being realistically able to GM and play larger group roleplays. (The most notable areas where I have a complete inability to write is Conversations. They absolutely never come out as even halfway decent.) On top of that I am pretty much busy for the next 2 weeks or so.
  6. I'm unfamiliar with DRYH, and I'm debating between running DH and Dresden Files FATE for my first set of one shots. It would depend upon if people would be willing to read some background fluff for the dresden files adaptation of FATE, as well as if they were willing to learn the rules a bit on their own in around 2 weeks. I would be willing to read the fluff material (so far I have only read the first two dresden files books due to not managing to get ahold of book 3 yet so I cant exactly read the copies of 4 and 5 that I do have so far) and really I would read the rules on my own if I had access to them, so for the time being I am limited to the brief overview of how it works that I found somewhere online.
  7. About an hour until the session, so I am getting lunch. Nex, remeber to finish up your spell list before the session.
  8. Well, from my experience 2 people makes for a somewhat boring game, as you only tend to end up with a single linear plot to participate in, when with a larger number of players you end up with a handfull of plots that the various characters get involved in and can have conflict over, though one plot does end up taking the role of the central storyline (I tend to manage to hijack the plot by being the only one who has a long running plan for my plots). Archi: on the two game systems definately Star Control, no major preference on the focus of such a game.
  9. Any specifics on what the One shots will consist of, and will you be using the rotating Gm idea?
  10. After Retech said that we've been playing Pathfinder. No I didn't, I said that a game hasn't been played for a week. Yes, and Pathfinder was played 6 days ago, when 7 days is what is generally considered to be a week. (unless you are using calender weeks that start with Monday, in which case you consider Pathfinder as only having played in the last week for ~ 6 hours a week.
  11. Resistance, An Ocean of a Problem was run 6 days ago and will be running in 21 hours, and even if you don't actually want to play it, Pathfinder is a game regardless of your opinion of it.
  12. Beware Beware, of the dangers of SigFigs For while all may seem fairer, They shall certainly not make you jig Due to their cascading error. (In not rhyming form: Beware, the fact that sig figs reduce precision which can commonly cause issues if you apply them before getting the final answer, never use Sig fig'ed answers to calculate further answers as it is easy to mess up.
  13. I'm skeptical... To say the least. I'm interested, and it might be able to answer some backstory questions but games and tv shows are two completely different ballparks. It makes me think that they're trying to jump on to the Pottermore bandwagon ie. franchise and exploration driven mmo's. EDIT: I am a bit confused how MLP Online has anything to do with Pottermore in terms of the direction of the Franchise, as literally Hasbro's only involvement in the game is not issuing a cease and desist order on the fans who are making it.
  14. I agree. It was completely too fast. Especially the second episode. The Star Wars reference wasn't that out of place if you ask me. I hope they go back to the style they had last season, but an overarching storyline wouldn't be the worst thing. One thing I really don't like though are those BLATANT internet references... Aka chocolate rain. It was funny, but it makes it seem like they are trying too hard. I'm also looking into getting some steampunk style goggles to wear next summer. I'll dye my hair rainbow colors too, and it will be completely intense. I personally think that it was a great pair of episodes, though I do have to agree that they did move a bit too quickly through the restoring of the Mane 6 after Applejack, though it is reasonable as there really wasn't a way for them to increase the time spent on all the others without adding a 3rd episode which would not have worked due to the spacing of the action and a lack of material for it. The jokes and references were quite good in my opinion, though personally my favorite was the Mary Sue joke from the first episode of the pair.
  15. You cannot ignore forum users who have moderator powers, mostly so you can actually hear the moderators if they tell you to stop breaking the rules.
  16. Well, I have have seen that one before (I have had a remix of it on my Ipod for a month and a half now). Edit: Personally I prefer Jeffthestrider's song Undeserved Sins to the unremixed version of No Strings Attached -
  17. Well, the Concept of rotating GMs does work, its just effectively mandated to follow an episode based plot (essentially each GM's sessions are isolated both mechanically and plotwise from other GM's content) due to the Exponential increases in difficulty making larger plot based games with more than one person behind the wheel, meaning the closest thing to an overarching plot you can get is a GM specific Story arc. One thing that would not work well is rotating systems , as it means you simply increase the work on the players to keep track of multiple games, and have issues getting players to play the games they dont like as much as others. I could in theory work out one shots to run in a less technical game system than the D&D 3rd edition family of games (pathfinder included), not sure how consistant it would be though especially as there is no agreed upon non D&D 3rd edition type game. Technically rotating game systems out every month or so for me I could go for more than a year and still have game systems that I hadn't run, though to be honest though most of them would attract no players. edit: Personally out of the games you mentioned, I think the FATE system ones sound the most interesting to me (Dont like the GW universe, and pathfinder is currently running and isn't all that great with the tavern)
  18. Session is in 1 hour. I am heading to lunch now, but you can join the channel before I return.
  19. Since my plans for the Next 3 hours fell through I will be sitting in IRC for around 3 hours if anyone wants to make character modifications or write a new character with my help.
  20. Just a Reminder, The Next Session is 1PM US central time this sunday (~37 hours). Following this session you will not be allowed to make modifications to your character sheet without specific permission from me, and you will no longer be able to write a whole new character without taking a level penalty.
  21. What are you talking about? TIF has an ignore function, Which would work unless you are trying to ignore me or Stork for some crazy reason. its under the "manage ignored users" menu.
  22. Perhaps a good option would be to remove the restriction for it. For Rusco, it makes sense, since it's a game that hasn't had a post in more than a year, but the Library's only problem seems to be that anybody who would want to access it would have to go to the admins. It's hard enough for new players to get involved with the Tavern without that restriction. Assuming that someone comes up with a game that would fit there, that is  Well, as a whole there is not really enough games running at any one time in the Falador Tavern to justify having to split them up. All that would result of keeping the split while enforcing it would be reducing the number of players as some people would not read the subforum. Yes having the split would make sense if we had 20 or so games actively running at the same time, but with less than 4 games running at pretty much any given time its just wasting time.
  23. I Fully support all of the proposed changes, especially the Falador Library change due to the fact that it is a restricted posting board that has been totally abandoned, and now is only used by certain forum users as a way to try getting Admins to kill games they dont like even when there is barely anything running at one time in the tavern.
  24. Was just Using a Google docs Spreadsheet changing around cell colors and writing messages in the individual cells. I had intended to not use a map at all for the game, but then Archi asked for me to give a map of the area and I figured I may as well use it for combat as well. EDIT: if you do use it for that reason you will want to change the sharing settings so anyone with the link can view the document (making it public is not suggested as then it gets listed for searches in google docs)
  25. Yeah, I try doing what I can to actually have a game running in the Tavern, but there is only so much that I can do with my schedule, especially while using a D&D type game system (one of the few things that 4e did right was to cut back on the overhead of running combat encounters by simplifing high level character creation.) If the Taverners could start compromising a bit more in how they play games it would be possible for others to start up games that could be atleast reasonably successful which would atleast diversify what is going on in the Tavern. (really with the amount of work for Pathfinder, I cannot run another game unless it would be an effectively GM free play by post Freeform RPG)
