Yeah, I made bank on some mithril and rune ore, as well as a big stack of coal.

Nex
She doesn't hit high enough for soaking to matter whatsoever. She's accurate enough that magic defense does very little. Ranged attack helps, and prayer bonus helps.

Ah. Can't really do that overnight anymore either. You can, but it's miserable profit compared to before the buy/sell limits were removed. Flipping is now a sit at the GE activity.

Because you can't do Nex while you're asleep/at work/not at the computer.

Storm, your idea won't do a damn thing. The incentive to bot is to gain an advantage over peers, and that means trying to do it illegally on the main server. If everyone else can bot, there's no point. We'd be back to square one with a bunch of extra servers full of cheaters that Jagex is paying for.

I wouldn't mind that, but Jagex doesn't seem capable of it. The process would have to be long and arduous and give VERY little exp, to ensure people didn't just do it for training with a bit of cash on the side or breaking even. Like, say you had to go somewhere and mine for a long time for a rare untradable ore (95 mining), smith that into an untradable bar (96 smithing), and then add an untradable gem found very rarely by panning in the digsite river (94 crafting to cut it). You use all those on an anvil to make an emblem (96 smithing again), then enchant it with 200 blood and 500 cosmic runes (98 magic), at which point it becomes a tradable object that boosts the str bonus of any platebody it's attached to by 5. All of this would give maybe 100 exp in each related skill. That way, the emphasis would be on using the skills to go gather stuff to make the rare, powerful equipment, rather than having the rare stuff be from monster drops while the skilling aspect is incidental (see: sigils, dragon armor pieces, godsword shards). An item like that would sell for a lot and give skilling a monetary incentive, whereas anything like a fury (kill stuff for a long time, get tradable raw material, get assist to make it into a powerful amulet) will put the profit in the combat stage and have a loss at the processing stage.

I calls em as I sees em. The point is that I personally get nothing out of this update, smithing has become a crappier skill than it was, and using a cannon got more annoying. Excuse me for considering this a bad update.

Cool, your argument boils down to "i'm going to ignore you because you're in the minority" Also, i'm not praising it. like you, i'm disappointed it's not the smithing equivalent of Ovls. they could have done so much more. but i'm not complaining because i still think they did a good job and made a constructive update. Anyway, in more important news: anyone know if RR has been patched for nex? My argument is that this is all opinion, neither of us is objectively right. All I can say is that your opinion that making everything in the game easier and faster is good is immature and bad for the game as a whole, it's not something that can be proven.

Ancient, you're the only one I've seen praising this update so far. I'm hardly a minority in saying that cheapening a skill rather than making it worthwhile is a disappointing course of action to take. You can be happy with your smithing for babies update, but don't act as though you're speaking for the majority of experienced players.

+44 str They are just for the show. I meant the exp, obviously the items are going to be worthless.

If you call Buying items and clicking Make X over and over again a challenge, you're probably dumb. Effort is rewarded. I'd get 99 smith just to be able to open doors in dg. Dungeoneering rewards don't count. Especially since having levels as a non-keyers makes dungeons harder, but mostly because being able to do stuff in a giant minigame is an empty shell of a reward.

My signature is now relevant to everyone in RuneScape. Dude, I would LOVE to throw a fetus at whatever Jmod decided not to give this any rewards.

i mean, as long as you agree that it's a positive change then whatever. on first glance it's pretty well designed. sure, it isn't the update i was looking for either, but i'm still happy with it. it's not like cooking. this is clearly an active minigame - it's not an afk skill. who cares if skills are cheap. just because you overpaid for your skills doesn't mean we have to. smith is still useful: cheapens armor repair cost + is probably one of the most common unopenable doors in dg. if youre gonna whine about skills, whine about firemaking, agility, woodcutting... so many things... No, I don't agree that it's a positive change. Removing challenge and keeping effort unrewarded is something I would classify as a negative change. Firemaking and agility have more use than smithing.

I'm not denying that it's cheaper and faster, I'm saying that cheapening skills is the last thing the game needs. After being neglected for years and made utterly useless, now they're starting to turn it into another cooking. Just what we need.

Anyone checked how good rune ceremonial swords are? Hoping my 5000 rune ore was a good investment.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
Oh wow. Elemental shields have exactly one use in the entire game, and Jagex forgot to add it to some of them. They can be so dumb.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
Well, it is useful for all levels (excluding 99) in that it cheapens smithing exp considerably. Not so great if you're a 99 smith wishing it hadn't been a waste of time though.- 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
Pyramid plunder for smithing.- Nex
- Nex
Well, the correct way to do blood, regardless of style used, is to get her to sit still. If your team isn't doing it, they're idiots, but that doesn't mean that ranged can't still be better in the hands of a competent player.- Nex
You do know that you can range her from up close, right?- Nex
Yeah, people are WAY too into the idea that you must melee the blood form. With full Arma, maul just doesn't hit. I can't even imagine trying to use a rapier with it.- Fastest money? Blues or blacks?
Yeah that's a good point, frosts are much better money. Especially since you don't have a yak, and frost dragons are a lot more inventory-dense with their drops. Worse effigies though.- Are you ready for new high level Slayer content?
Oh yeah, not having 4b makes you a noob. Damn, you got me. Last I checked you didn't need 4b to fight Nex. Sure if you want to go buy all of her very new drops right now you'll have to shell out because there are still a lot of very rich people who want it, but it's not as if there's anything stopping you from going and getting a drop yourself. The requirements aren't unattainable for anyone serious about combat, it's a good goal. You know, goals, those things that the game are all about? - 08-Mar-2011 Artisans Workshop
