  1. I like Songs for Polar bears lots, but Final Straw is indeed their best album. And I actually also love eyes open; all good albums, though none of them are any better than just good. It's very pleasant music, but that's all.
  2. There's that Orlando Bloom again :D
  3. I can think of 5 problems with such a tall building: 1/ weight: unless you manage to build a giant carrier platform underneath the structure, it would sink into the ground. So you'll need something like this: ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ ___|||___ -----|||---- ======= With ||| being the building, --------- the ground, ==== the platoform. 2/ winds: the winds blow at a tremendous speed high above the ground. If you're standing on top of what we now call a tall building, you already notice a huge difference. The winds at an altitude of 10,000 ft blow up to 150 mph, so you would want a building that can somehow cope with that. But I doubt these balancing perils will be a major problem. The Japanese can easily help you with that :) 3/ Materials: Trapical is right, but it's worse. Your building is not just 80 times bigger as the WTC, the pixels Trap used are only the surface of one side of the building. The total volume would be 715 times as much, if the pixel stuff Trap mentionned is correct. That will make it impossible to even consider such a construction. Not to mention the humongous costs. 4/ Also, what Trap said, and much more of a hinder than wind, earthquakes etc, which would not really harm a giant like that, is the machinery we now possess. There's no way this could be done with current building equipment. 5/ And last but not least: maintenance. Buildings only last so long. Every single material has a durability. Steel for example gets weary after a couple of decades and it also has a lot of side-effects: oxidation, corrosion, ... Solutions might be using different, but very expensive types of steel, such as Chromium based steel. There would be no need for Titanium then. But steel and other metals also get weary and there is nothing you can do about that: they lose their ability to support due to the constant pressure and temperature changes. The there's concrete: at least as many problems occur there. So maintenance of this building would be impossible: it would have to be either a building where all parts can somehow be replaced every now and then, or it can never exist.
  4. Me and a friend DJing at a friend's part; theme was silver, so silver we wore. Another pic of that party, later on. edit: man I suck at these thnigs; edited 5 times before it was right.
  5. It's in the credits: DJ Dean with ballanation
  6. Well, good luck! And tell us that you're OK afterwards :)
  7. History is probably the most important course you'll ever get to form a decent background of everything. I am very happy history is still an obliged course in Belgium, although it's been a few years since I had my last high school course now. I study economics now but I can guarantee you that history is far more important than religion, biology, greek, latin or geography. Although those were all high school courses as well, they are of little importance for me anymore. I find all of them interesting, sure, but they're not nearly as useful as history. I have several courses that have an introduction of an entire book about the history of that particular science (such as psychology, sociology, macro- and microeconomics itself, ..) and if you just have to study it without knowing anything about those periods, you'll be in trouble. You have to understand what happened then, why people reacted in that way, how it was possible something happened etc. I see history as a guideline to see where we are now and what we have done wrong over and over again. So with all that information gathered, we can at least try not to make the ame mistakes and try to make the same changes, adapted to our period of time, that did good for the world. Honestly, I doubt there is any decent CEO, professor, topmanager, politician (I said decent ;)) or even a brilliant engineer that doesn't know a lot about the major events and changes in our history. It's very useful.
  8. Haha, exactely. They most likely don't know what the heck runescape is, but even if they think it's something like a death metal band I'll be embarassed. Looking good though dusqi!
  9. You're an idiot. Not just because you hate Belgium, but why would you kill yourself if you lived in the US? Most of it's inhabitants are great people, some are greedy punks, but those people are everywhere.
  10. dEUS - What We Talk About (from the great album Pocket Revolution)
  11. Thats what I'm thinking options like what? I know of one at least.
  12. Nope. Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are officially commonwealths. Henry VIII's marriage to Anne of Cleeve's was anulled, not divorced. Annulled meaning that it never happened. He also anulled his marriage to Anne Boleyn (just before she was executed) and Catherine Howard. He also deemed his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon to be invalid on the fact a man could not sleep his brother's widow. In 2005 a new translation of the Book of Revelation clearly shows the number to be 616 not 666. The term Ice Age is meant when there are polar ice caps present. So techincally, despite being warmer, we are in an Ice Age. Aren't there always polar caps present? We ARE in the warmest peak of the ice age cycle and still there are pretty immense polar caps. I think your definition is a bit off.
  13. Because I scored so bad, I fully support you ;)
  14. Pfeew, my list is pretty long, so I'm going to quickly point it on the map: And I've been to the US 3 times, Canada once, Indonesia once, Mexico once and Cuba once as well (dÃÆÃâÃâûh :)). I speak Dutch, English and French fluently, German rather well and Italian a bit too. I guess 6 years of Latin and classical Greek studies don't count as I don't speak them one bit? :P The southern hemisphere is something I'm yet to discover; I've only been to Indonesia. I still need to discover Latin America, apart from Mexico, Australia and especially New Zealand ( ) and all the African countries where you can tresspass without having a 50/50 chance of getting shot. edit: I'm actually flattered quite a lot of people want to learn Dutch and I'm surprised so many people have visited Belgium already. How did you guys like it? Pretty shy people and horrible wheater eh?
  15. All goals that are scored are 1 pnt, except own goals, goals with the midfield and shots that are touched by the opposition before landing in the goal, but that are not quite own goals, both of those don't count. The result is that half of the goals scored don't count :P
  16. Yeah, I thought there was 50 stars on the US flag for a reason... but I may be wrong about that. And isn't 666 the reason why even was a bit crazy on the 6th June 2006? There definitely are 50 states, but perhaps they count north and south carolina etc as one state. And 666 is, at least to my knowledge, the most common number associated with the devil.
  17. Uh? There are at least 5 questions wrong, or very, very odd. Since when did the US lose 4 states? Henry XIII had 6 wives according to me and 666 is, in our current civilisation, the number of the devil, not 616. And if by the term Ice Age we mean a colder period than normal, we are absolutely not in one now. We are at the peak of the opposite: We are a few degrees above the avg temperature. The graph is from a meteo centre in Russia, where the avg temp throughout the year now is around 0ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâð. In an Ice Age, it is about -8ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâð.
  18. Great albums, especially Neighbourhood from the AF, it's one of my favourite CDs ever. Have fun getting carried away! And laughing your arse off with Ricky Gervais :)
  19. And I can look at pictures and videos of the Grand Canyon from my computer. I wonder why everyone keeps going! It's different. My comparison was to sitting at home listening to the song to sitting at a concert listening to the song, but not doing anything. If yours was at all relevant to mine it would mean someone would go to the grand canyon, yet not look at it, and only a picture of it whilst they stand in front of the canyon. You'll find that if you become old and less energetic, that live music can be more fun just to listen to with friends, sitting on a blanket on a festival. There's little as relaxing as sitting in the sunshine, listening to Mogwai with a beer, mini-snacks and your mates. It's just a different experience from standing in the crowd and being very active.
  20. Of course. You're not the only one that adores his voice. And please don't try to sound so elite by saying none of us know him, some probably know a lot more about Tool, APC and other projects of Maynard than you do. http://www.last.fm/user/Oy_/ I'm in a last.fm group that is in love with his vocals; perhaps you should visit last.fm as well; it's better to discuss stuff like that than TIF. Or discuss it with your friends; they most likely know more about Tool and APC than most of the people here. A bunch of the younger ones like rap and rnb, others like metal and hard rock, another part likes mainstream music, and another part thinks it's awesome to only listen to music from the 70s. But there aren't a lot of people who know a lot about one singer. Although I do know Lateralus, me and Daan know him pretty well. I try to take the best out of every genre and period of time. And that's why my music collection fills my entire computer ;) Ugh I take offence at people generalising those who like rap and RnB. Although my library comprises mainly of these genres, amongst others, it in no way depicts my age or intelligence. I base no judgements on those who like a different genre of music to myself since it is merely a preference. Yes there is a younger generation of those that follow this so called trend, but do not appreciate the talented artists of this genre, same as there is a younger generation that appreciate rock and the other subgenres (I'm sorry, I am not familiar with these enough to mention). Sorry for this outburst, it just seems on these forums all I ever see is rap-bashing, as if to say there is only one true form of music, the one that you listen to, and that someone's music taste is far superior to someone elses. It's like criticising someone because you prefer peas to carrots. Again I apologise for the off-topicness (..I doubt that is a word). Back on, I would like to hear this singer, is there anywhere I could have a listen? I haven't heard of him myself. Look, it's just a fact that many of the fans of rnb are younsters here in Belgium. If you'd ever go to a festival you'll see the average fan of a band like Tool is between 20 and 40. The average fan of 50 cent is 15. I'm not saying 50 cent and those others are the only rappers, but they are the most famous ones, so their fanbase is the biggest. Perhaps fans of 2pac (I like some of his music as well, I never said all rap sucked) or the Notorious B.I.G. are more mature. As for the reply of you, warri0r; it makes me sound like a hypocrite how now? And by saying you never said none of us would know him I think you're more or less sounding like one. What else did you mean when you stated 'Does anyone even know who he is? ' ?

  22. [cabbage]e, I was exactely going to say the same thing. Man, you have an awesome taste. Your posts are all fantastic from now on if you ask me.
  23. Actually, I've been ashamed of my nick (superfix 'the great') after I quit playing RS, some 5 years ago. It was my nickname when I played age of empires; which explains the 'the great'; a little kid wanting to top alexander by playing a game :) But this is how I'm know, although I prefer Oy instead of that being great and all.
  24. Wow, are YOU off. What is a camp boy anyway? I'm not sure if I should be insulted, or just amused. Always look on the bright side.
