  1. Good music, though.
  2. put the freaks up front - dEUS
  3. :-s Lunatics. some of the better stuff: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Fun Lovin' Criminals but above all: The Smashing Pumpkins and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. horrible names: all those ridiculous death metal names. What's so cool about 'Slayer', ' Napalm Death', ' Cannibal Corpse', 'Anthrax' or even simply 'Death'?
  4. Am I the only one that agrees? Besides, I didn't know there were people that were both fan of the RHCP yet also considering buying an American Pie DVD. What horrible movies those are.
  5. Err... No? An hour of subjective time for him would be two hours on Earth. Time dilation. Yeah, no reason to make a fuss about it. I just wanted to clarify that no one can time travel, it is just a different experience. Besides, everyone else before me was wrong as well :) Kinda the same with freezing cells; time is seemingly halted, but it actually continues, just has different effects.
  6. Alright...so he's .02 seconds in the future. Is it possible to explain what that means exactly? If he's .02 seconds in the future - how am I talking to him? Lancer is wrong actually. He isn't in the future, that's impossible of course. Imagine he'd been travelling at a great speed for ages, then he might be a year ahead of us, which is bs. The person is not ahead of us, he has experienced 0.02 secs more in the same time we have experienced in the period of time he travelled faster than we did. If astronaut A flies at 2000 km/s around the world, he would experience what we call an hour on Earth, as two hours, for example. But once he's back on the soil, he'll be just like you and I, obviously.
  7. If by saying 'the universe could've existed forever' you mean 'there was nothing, but it all evolved into something', then I can more or less agree with you. There are dozens of plausible scenarios as how nothing can become something, you just have to think outside the narrow box of theorems and knowledge we posess. One scenario involves matter vs. antimatter. It states that nothing, absolutely nothing (for our knowledge), can split into a + and a -. together they are nothing, but if they're split, the + is matter, the - is antimatter. All +s become the things we see, feel etc. The things that are the cornerstones of our bodies. All the -s are antimatter, things we cannot see. If they collide with our matter, everythig will be 'reset' to nothing at all once again. Of course, it seems hard to understand that something like that is possible, I doubt this theory is right as well. But isn't the fact that time isn't constant just as weird or even weirder? I still can't imagine that by travelling amazingly fast, say by half the speed of light, you experience the time being longer than it is here on Earth.
  8. That's the fault of historical recreation rather than the sources themselves. And to be honest? This thread is ridiculous. By definition, a past has to exist in order to create the conditions necessary for the present. Of course, but haven't you ever wondered, ridiculous as it may be, that what we know is completely wrong and indoctrinated to us? We might think that 200 years ago Napoleon was conquerring Europe, but the evidence we now have doesn't actually prove anything. Perhaps the ancient artifacts have just been put there by some higher power. Perhaps everything around us is only just as old as we are and it's been created just to dress up our lives. Perhaps Caesar and the entire Roman empire are just a fairy tale made up by the powers controlling our world, and we all believe it. Perhaps I'm typing the biggest load of useless junk here, perhaps it's all true. I myself am convinced that wondering if history as we know it is false is ridiculous. I firmly believe in evolution & a logic chain of events that all trigger eachother, but that doesn't mean I, as well as the billions of others that also believe that, am right. I raise an eyebrow when I hear intelligent people saying they believe the Bible, or whatever they believe is the truth, is the only source of knowledge. But nonetheless, I respect everyone's opinion and I'll never exclude anything more or less reasonable.

A friend of mine is amazing in texas hold 'em. He and a couple of his fellow physics students play on PartyPoker and one of them has won 17,000 $ in one single month, playing about 4 hours a day. My friend won about 3,000$ in the year he's been playing, which comes down to 20$ an hour. If I could be as good as one of them, I'd play for half a year and start my own stock business, since that's my branche, meanwhile still playing from time to time. I only play against bots or irl with some friends for beer. We never overdo it. If I watch one of my mate's games, he casually loses 150$ in one move and wins 250 in another. It's mindboggling if you know how much beer that is ;)
  10. Is this Hermione? If so, she really did improve a lot :
  11. Watched Hable con Ella yesterday night. It was even better than I had expected. What a painfully beautiful film.
  12. Neophyte... Somehow it all makes sense; your name and your ridiculous post. I once said Daan was the only Dutchman with taste. I'll stick to that opinion.
  13. dEUS, little arithmethics. dEUS is my favourite Belgian band, and there's a lot of good music from merry old Belgium. If any of you rock fanatics do not know them, be sure to check them out. They're praised by all good rock artists as one of the best current bands even though they're not particulary famous outside Belgium.
  14. Stunts!
  15. Absolutely, they're great. I love their cover of 'imagine' from Lennon. And they're quite different from Tool, only the thrilling voice of Maynard is the same, even though he uses it differently.
  16. Only spent a couple minutes searching, but I've yet to find video footage of Mozart :boohoo: Honestly m8.. I just thought it woudl be fun to make a small list of great musicians I could think of off the top of my head. I never claimed I was listing every single great musician the world has ever seen.. Hey, no offense, I just meant to say that there are a LOT of important and great musicians. Thanks for listing mine.
  17. I was going to post what I was listening to atm, but I realised I misspelled it as well: Presidents of the USA - Feather Pluckin Spot the mistake ;)
  18. Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinions, you three clearly do not know the first thing about the mindset of someone who commits suicide. It is not just the feeling of wanting to be free, or of sadness, it is the feeling of being completely trapped and not being able to talk to anybody about your problems. Most suicides occur in men, and most ofthose in young men. This is because young men are the worst at communicating and discussing their problems. They bottle it up until they cannot cope. It is not a matter of being weak, or cowardly or selfish, it is a matter of sheer desperation, something which I doubt you, or many people have experienced. People used to be prosecuted if they tried to commit suicide and failed, because it was seen as a sin and something that the person ought to be made to pay for. Nowadays the human mind is understood better and physcologists have realised that these people need help, not punishing more. Can't you three take the same view? Indeed. Thank you. Everyone that claims suicide is the coward's way out has obviously no idea what a depression is. As stated above, everyone's entitled to their opinion and I think the people who think suicide is weak are idiots. If I say American Football is a ridiculous sport although I've never ever played it myself, never watched a game of it in my whole life, wouldn't I be sounding like an idiot myself? If I say poor people or Africans are lazy because they don't have all the possessions I have, doesn't that make me sound like a moron? It's the same with the lot of people that say such rubbish. Just because people who are not depressed and have no clue what it is would not even think of committing suicide does not mean depressed people that do think -and possibly do it too- about suicide are cowards. Depression is best compared to cancer, a disease that you really can't help being there and that's often lethal if it's not countered with something exterior. The only difference is that depression is on a minor scale; in the patterns of a brain instead of in the cells of some part of your body.
  19. Where's Bob Dylan? Where are some of the greatest rock stars like the Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds, Queen, ... Hell, even Kurt Cobain and Maynard James Keenan should absolutely be in there. Not to mention the dozens of other important musicians of the last decades and the musicians before 1950. Composers like Mozart have been much more influential than any of those you listed. I think you're gonna have to make a list of at least 100 if you want a good database. Nonetheless, those were some good musicians you posted.
  20. I have no idea, and I don't intend to google for you (hell, just try using google folks, it's easy and useful), but just download the song, ti's not too hard to play. It's from Moby btw.
  21. I'm pretty confident it's another case of me lifting a car in my invisibility suit. (who really gives a damn?)
  22. I know what you mean, being half-Dutch as well. But Dutch isn't the same as English, if we say Holland, we ought to mean the province, yes, but in English Holland is the country, a synonyme of the Netherlands. It's because in the early and late middle-ages the people in the northern parts of the Netherlands (=the complete current country of the Netherlands) were called Hollanders and the people in the southern parts (=northern Belgium) were called the Flemish. We should've never separated. Damn Spaniards :P As for the game tonight: 2-1
  23. Queen, no doubt.
