Another ridiculous child punishment
Hehe, you probably would get lynched over in Arizona for that. Reminds me of 1984 by George Orwell. Everything is controlled, no one can do anything that te government considers out of bounds. Who's up for an anarchistic pillaging and pyromaniac adventure?

YouTube, BBC iPlayer end up costing UK consumers money
Actually I understand why they would do that. I wouldn't be surprised if soon the cost for internet will be determined by bandwith usage instead of only a fixed cost. I myself download/stream quite a lot, about 5 GB per month I guess, and if you compare that number to about 200 MB per month a few years ago, then it's no surprising the companies are complaining about the costs. I'm more surprised as to why this is news. You just can't expect profit-based companies to be lead by happy-go-lucky altruists.

what pokemon are you?
I stopped when I read the first question: "I love rainbows. There a sign the world will be better." Pretty sure I'd be a snorlax though. Enjoy life, eat, sleep. Rock on snorlax.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
Please read my post on page 2. A few degrees per decenium is not what happens naturally. A few degrees per milenium, yes, but in a few decades we'll have temperatures 5̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâð warmer than they ought to be according to the natural way of events. And remember that the cycle of warming up-cooling down is at a point where we should be cooling down. We have just (10,000 years ago) reached a peak in temperature, normally it should go down by now. If you check the red graph on page 2, you can clearly see that the next part of the graph should not rise anymore, because it's over it's top.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
I couldn't agree more. And I can't help but feeling that the people that are actually just ignorant and think that those extra few degrees won't kill us will be the first ones to be hit by the consequences of it. Of course we won't fry because it's getting warmer, but perhaps do a little research before judging global warming is nothing bad at all. Climate is very vulnerable to changes, and a few degrees is a huge difference in the world of climatology. An ice age for example implies only a decrease of about 15-20̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâð. That is enough to cause half of our western world to be covered in a thick pack of ice. But, I'm not going to bother trying to tell anything to people who only have an ear for themselves. I bet that the length of this post (a whooping 8 lines) will scare away those people anyway. Perhaps I should also make a [developmentally delayed]ed picture of a penguin with golden chains, but a dead one. Maybe they'll understand that.

Parents name baby Superman
Will you mute him for being controversial? Will you end a discussion because you feel you're being outwitted? I find it hard to accept that someone that can't act - let alone discuss - in a mature way, tries to tell one of TIF's better members to shut up, simply because you feel like it. Why don't you get some manners and either shut up yourself, or explain yourself a little better and elaborate on whatever opinion you have to defend.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
Well, good luck with that essay, I'm studying for exams atm, so I'm not really into discussing too much either. But, this graph shows that every +-100,000 years an ice age occurs, which is what we all know. If you look at the decline and increase of the temperatures, you see thatit does not happen in 200 years, or even 2000. It happens over several milennia, which means that an increase of several degrees in a few years time is absolutely not just because of an approaching natural increase of our temperature. Something else is behind it, and the graph clearly indicates that the CO2 levels could be the cause of this. What's even more controversial is that the steep increase of the temperature should be finished by now. The cycle should start over again, according to the previous cycles, we should have just passed the height of the temperature and it should start to decline again. But, it most definitely does not. Many researches also prove the increase of temperature to be caused by CO2 increase to be true, and in my short life I've already seen more storms and climate oddities (30̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâðC and thunderstorms every week in Belgium are not common) the last 5 years than in the 16 years before that. Europe is one of the regions in the world least vulnerable for the climate changes, and still there are severe problems that even we, rich and developed Europeans, can't control anymore. Giant forest fires, flooded cities, droughts, too much or too few rainfall... You name it. Then there are other parts of our world where mud flows, hurricanes, monsoon trouble (too much or none), tropical diseases spreading north, earthquakes etc are problems even more serious, but they luckily do not occur in Europe. I do believe that they are somehow caused by a change of our climate, because I don't believe in a vengeful God ;) Perhaps it's a coincidence, but I really doubt it. I'm a bit biased, because my father works for an environmental department of the government that does research to the cause of these problems, but I'm confident that they are in fact right. I really do not see another explanation as to why all these extreme environmental changes occur.

American Eagle clothing? amercians please.
Looks like a good show! Is it on the BBC? Because the only english channels we have are BBC 1 & 2 here in Belgium.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
Why has no one heeded this? This is important. YES, the earth is wariming up, but NO we are not causing it. The earth is going through a natural cycle that has repeated since the world began. Why do you think we had 2 ice ages? The earth goes through periods of extreme warmth and extreme cold. We jusyt happen to be in an era where the warmth is rising. And we are not the cause, not one bit. I'm not saying that we don;t have a responsibilty to clean up the earth, but the emissions of Co2 WE put out have absolutely minimal effect on what is happeneing to the earth naturally. Those graphs span 1,000,000 years. The ice age theory is a given, yes, but it does not explain the increase in temperature of the last 20 years, because the natural increase of temperature spans hundreds of years, not a decade or two. If you're going to prove that the large emissions of CO2 are NOT responsible for the global warming, you're going to have to get some better evidence man. Otherwise I could use that pseudo-science to prove what will happen with the economy in 50 years as well knowing the Kondratieff-cycles.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
Hehe, yeah, human nature still barely reacts on things to come, but it sure does react on things that do affect us right now. We're still a lot closer related to animals than we sometimes think. I can see Khang & Kodos laughing at us from space now :P

Parents name baby Superman
The fact that it was "taken by the show", hardly makes it any less unique; Adaptions of flowers, rockgroup names, objects or even something as simple as another name are fairly common. Josef Stalin for example sounds like a name, but he was born with something completely different. Stalin means "Man of Steel" IIRC. And a fair few of the names we consider common mean something completely different in other languages - Anders, a fairly common boy name around here, means 'different' or something in dutch (though the guy who asked me could've meant it means something different in dutch...). Add to that that most common names actually have meanings - and some can be traced as straight up translations from one language or the other. Indeed, Stalin was born with some long, unpronounceable (sp?) name, started with an I. However, Superman doesn;t mean anything, really, and is still quite an idiotic name, and the parents should have thought more about it. Yeah, I don't mind people having a pretty unique name, as long as it sounds OK and that it does not refer to (or actually mean) something silly. You can't argue that superman is a silly name for a human being, simply because it distinguishes this person from all others in a negative way, being that he ought to be superior to the 'rest', which will cause severe taunting :) I have a friend named Guinevere, everyone calls her Guin, and that's one of those original names I do like. It does not distinguish her from others, it does not refer to something really obviously silly (how many people that know it's from an old anlgo-saxon tale would find it silly?) and it sounds beautiful too. But superman? 4real? No kidding? Sounds like material for south park to make fun of.

The Earth isn't as warm as we thought
Damn it, I don't mind people being critical, a little stubborn even, but I hate idiots that don't accept something that is proven to be correct time after time. It's like those few people that still don't think the holocaust was real. Wake up, the Earth IS warming up! A few exception years do NOT mean that what's happening now is normal. If you look at the average temperature per decenium, you will see that the last decenia are significantly warmer than any other recorded ones before. One single year of exception proves nothing. Thanks Nanosauromo for the obvious proof. I'd like to add that all glaciers in the Alps have decreased in volume so much that skiing there will soon become impossible. When was the last year that happened? It NEVER did, simply because one hot year does not melt an entire glacier of several thousands of cubic kms. 15 continuous years do.

Minneapolis Bridge Collapse
Well I've already heard 2 tip.iters mention they were nearly on that bridge the minute it happened, I'm glad they're both OK. Tigra is one of them, the other is one of the arenascape guys, who also made a topic about it in the mini-community here of AS: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=684747 I've heard on the Belgian news that 200,000 cars cross it daily on work days. Good thing it's holidays then.

Create your South Park alter-ego!
There we go. I could add my drums, a ball or whatever redundant items, but I thought I'd just stick with the basics.

Fat(test) countries...
Ey Daan! Yeah, I've been arou!nd, but more or less lurking. And I was addicted to some idiotic online game, travian, as well, check the arenascape fora for detailed information. I got all of my AS buddies to play it as well, and now they're too addicted to give it up  I've also had exams, been doing a lot of charity stuff and setting up parties in Leuven. So basically, I've been enjoying the good life :) Get on msn if you can mate, we need to talk up :)

Fat(test) countries...
And still Belgium is on a very nice n̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâð104 spot. No surprises here either: And I'm 1m80 now with 65 kilos, but I'm pretty confident that I'll be more like 85 kg in about 20 years from now. I'll happily contribute to the potbelly-level in Belgium.

Funniest thing ive read in a while..
Haha, that's awesome. I put this on the forum of our community at home, just so they could share the laughs :) As long as there are other people laughing with these things, it's all fine to me.

Stuff you dont want your Real Life freinds to know
This is actually a really good topic. If the people I knew ought to know one thing, then it probably would be the way I feel about them. I don't mind telling it to a few people I grew to know over the net for years, but I wouldn't directly say it to those I'd be chatting about. But I don't think anyone would be surprised if they knew I used to play games like runescape, because most of my (male) friends used to play games in that genre as well. It's really common for people in their teens in Belgium.

That makes two of us ;) Except I stream the episodes from the internet because it's not broadcasted here.

Wow? Really? That's impressive.
Actually, a black hole is still more dense, so there IS wasted space on a neutron star :) A black hole makes the spaces between neutrons disappear also. It is even thousands of times smaller than a neutron star, but also has an enourmous mass and NOTHING, not even something travelling with the speed of light, like light itself, escapes its grasp. It sucks in everythnig in its proximity and even rays of light disappear, that's why it's completely black. And it's no hole either; it's just a giant exploded star that attracted thousands of others and becomes the size of a beachball, but a heavy one :)

A Question: Can you get a Mirror on a Computer
I can imagine people want it for their televisions, so that when it's off it still has an estethical value. But a computer stands on a desk somewhere, why should it be a mirror?
