  1. Are the combat scrimshaws worth using outside of bossing? If not I'll probably just use all my bones to make tradeable scrims and finally get some money lol
  2. They changed weapon abilities recently to take the off-hand into account as well. Destroy and massacre are the two DW abilities that people are finding to be good. I thought about it over a little more and it the difference isn't clear cut enough to warrant a whole extra bind. Idk the actual reasoning for considering dw knives, it was just some buzz in dung smith the day of the dw update. The only good reason I've actually seen is because the dw ranged ability looks cool :P
  3. Tier X Shortbow > Tier X Melee now because of ring? Luckily I still have my ring reset lol. Ranged also seems useful for those pesky merc leaders and clearing GDs faster.
  4. This is definitely on the scale of EoC and RSC->RS2. Every single asset has been retooled to work in HTML5, meaning there's a plethora of visual, mechanical, and game engine type modifications. Undoubtedly there are a lot of variables and things they want to test for like performance and capatibility so a beta makes sense. I also feel like they established a pretty good system for dealing with beta programmes with EoC. There's always complaint that Jagex doesn't take enough player feedback so the beta is a perfect way for them to get it before it gets deployed to the masses.
  5. It's hard to get good games going at conquest with so many boosters and I still haven't found a strategy that's reliable against the high rating peeps. Ultimately I think that if there are perfect players there's always going to be a hard counter strategy to other strategies, it's finding them and the execution that's the problem. For the time being I'll probably default on easier to use setups like antirush and rush to get used to the game and making game readings more quickly. Also beat Nomad, got 95 pray, and finished off Fally and Varrock tasks. Only have 3 skill super grinds (fishing, RC, slayer) and Dom tower before I can clean up the rest of the Task sets.
  6. Would it be worth taking DW baxes if I don't have any decent existing binds? Right now I have hood, emp cat staff, 2h, plate, kite, and Dw baxes, the last 4 items all courtesy to the fine folks at dung smith. Are the other styles worth taking in DG yet? There was some chitchat that ranged could be decent with DW knives. Also I'm considering applying to CD, but I need to know the level of affinity to the one and only Brassica Prime.

  8. I had never played a Diablo game so I was interested in getting my feet wet in the dungeon crawler genre with PoE since it was free. I got to the third act, but then my friends told me that I basically had to redo the whole thing, but on higher difficulties to even get a full character ability spec. It was at that point that I realized dungeon crawlers were not for me.
  9. From here on out this is now known as the Conquest! blog since my personal goals for the rest of RS have pretty much ground to a halt. Mostly because of Conquest, Ports, and general laziness.
  10. 161 atm. I've got 2 sets of elite robes and helmets except for mage and 3 deflectors. Once I finish my sets I'll probably just trade in points for prayer xp in blocks of 100 while I wait for Jagex to release offensive armours. Scouts can also kill halbs outright with bombard or BC and tank hits with stoicism. Bombard is actually really strong because you only lose a net of 125 points when killing a halberd and late game you're usually wallowing in extra points anyway. I had to do a lot of research to find this answer... Checkers. Not quite. This game had themed units with different attack ranges and movement abilities, like Conquest. It was a PC game iirc, but I don't remember exactly what it was called. The RS wiki page cites the board game Blood Bowl and Chess, but they're not what I was thinking of.
  11. Starting to become obsessed with Conquest, might change this to the conquest blog. When Conquest was first released in RS, I remember reading about a claim that there was another game that was almost identical to it (also had unique pieces with different movement ranges, damage, etc), but also had a few extra mechanics. Anyone know what it was called? Also keep getting stomped by mass scouts. Can't find a consistent strategy. Going to experiment with varying numbers of footsoldiers, halbs, knights, and also maybe try out winds.
  12. I think it's worthwhile to investigate normal AA crits to confirm the claims that AAs crit differently from abilities. See if your data corroborates or conflicts with cookmeplox's information They don't actually go over their method and just make some claims, but some of the mechanics mentioned (such as the 1% difference between faster and slower weapons) seems to agree with your own findings.
  13. Crits on AAs have a min and max of 75% and 125% of the regular max hit, respectively. This still effectively means a 1 to 1 boost in DPS for crits, but the actual value for each crit isn't the normal max hit. Abilities crit for 100% of the max hit, but abilities also hit a minimum of 25% their max. With a 62.5% average hit, crits only grant (100-62.5)/62.5 = 60% more DPS for ability use (as presented by cookmeplox). This should suggest that crit bonus is most valuable for momentum and a much less effective stat for ability use. I haven't seen any of the data or testing methods presented by the author so I can't verify any of the claims.

  15. I thought damage ratings were only relevant to AA DPS.
  16. Cclaw + EEE vs DW Cclaws is 3.8% less ability DPS, but 3.4% more AA DPS. EEE has heal, but claw has more accuracy and 0.9% crit. First setup appears better for slayer for sure, but what about DW claws? Are they just a replacement for anywhere you'd use DW Cls (what scenarios would you use dual CLS)?

The reason why mass scouts is so effective is that you can kill 1 halb with 2 scouts, but the scout user ends up with a 25 point advantage. 3 champ 2 scout is the strongest common setup I've seen (saw it a lot on 3k+ rating players). Sometimes the third champ is replaced with a halb and 5 scouts, or 2 halbs and 2 scouts. I wish there was a place I could watch some high rating matches; there's so much potential to this game and really one of the only fun minigames in all of RS. I really hate how Jagex doesn't let you get hybrid from it. There could be a really thriving population if that was the case.

  20. So I decided to play Conquest again. The only people who still play are rank traders and people who run: 8 scouts 2 champs Battle Cry/Charge/Chastise/Bombard Whoever goes first seems to win and I can't think of a good way to counter this setup. What do? Edit: nvm I'm just dumb. 3 champ+scout is effective counter. Vigilance is key.
  21. No I meant aura. I tried it on slayer and when I was hitting 2-4k on monsters it wasn't healing me much at all. I'm not sure any scrimshaws are worth using while slaying since they cost so much.
  22. What's the best aura to use for slayer then?

It could have been the case that the monsters were outdamaging the healing of the vamp aura (since I usually AoE stuff down with Hurricane), but iirc I wasn't noticing anything on single targets. I think I might do some testing on the EoC dummy. Otherwise, penance seems like the best aura to use right now - I just need to get SS already <.<
  24. @Sara Where's your purple? Does the vamp scrim work on abilities? When I used the aura, it didn't seem like I was healing for anything even when I was hitting 2-3k with abilities. Also I need a new clan. I'm getting nothing done with my current one :/
