Not to spam up this thread, but is this "thing that cannot be mentioned". You can't just leave me hangin' like that man.

Never have donated my blood, but I've never heard anything about bleeding slowly from nurses who have to take my blood. Also, I've got pale olive-toned skin, so I don't think it's a camouflage issue.

I doubt that my capillaries are "tough" enough to not bust when getting hit with a paintball going 250 miles per hour. I'm pretty convinced that it is just that my skin is too thick to see the discoloration.
  4. Just thought I'd let my /b/tard side show a bit: CreepyChan (And more recently known as Allison Harvard) [hide] [/hide] and I was going to post Boxxy, but I realized it's not that I find her "hot" so much as attractively unique and sensational. Oh, and Stoya [hide] [/hide]

Yes, but you must know that according to the Christian God, not going to heaven because of something outside of your control is entirely just. Second, we still control ourselves is what I'm trying to say. You're just looking at free-will in an entirely irrelevant way to humans: so what if the 1st domino caused the last one to fall? The second to last is the only relevant one. Once you start criticizing laws of the universe, you know nothing productive will come out of it.

Most people don't regard religious theologies as a cushy mask to cover one's eyes from the harsh, meaningless universe. Philosophy is the pursuit of truth, and most religious people believe that they are simply following truth, this truth just happens to end with the very happy resolution of them going to heaven and the world having meaning. There are more cushy religions than others. Are you familiar with Calvinism? It's the predominant base behind most the Christian world's faith. It holds that god stands outside of time, and that even before the universe was created he knew who was worthy or not worthy of going to heaven and hell. Looks like someone just read about Determinism. Of course there is free will, just not in the most outlandish and abstract definition that Determinism professes. Just because five billion dominoes were knocked over before the last one doesn't mean that the last one must take the time and attribute it's fall to every single domino before it. That's an extremely radical, impractical, impressionistic, and irrelevant way to go about describing cause and effect. And I don't even want to lend Determinism as much credibility as the physics behind an observable line of dominoes, because we don't know nearly enough about quantum mechanics, or even neurology to give Determinism the slightest bit of textbook credibility. Oh, and to address your whole "rebellion" thing, if the Christian god was indeed real, and I was bound to hell no matter what I did in my life, according to the Bible there is no injustice in that. Going to heaven is considered a gift, a privilege that must be granted, as all humans are inherently sinful creatures. And for the record, I'm an atheist.

Okay, I'll stick with the thick/dense skin conclusion, seems to be the most likely.

Well I mean the punching part still hurts, but no lasting marks.

I guess thick skin has to be the answer. And trust me Adrenal & Fast, over the years my friends and I have conducted numerous of like experiments. In fact, the only reason I made this topic is because it was on my mind from when my friend payed me a dollar for another friend to hit me in the arm three times as hard as he could with a drumstick two days ago. And Fast, of course there are obvious reasons why bruises occur, I'm just asking if there are any benefits to it evolutionarily speaking.
  11. l0rd replied to l0rd's topic in Off-Topic
What is the reason for bruises? I can't think of any evolutionary benefits of it off-hand.

Hey. HEEEY. Vampires. DON'T. SPARKLE! Rest assured Dizzle, I'm well aware. It's because of their special diamond suntan lotion. Anyways, I'm almost certain I'm not a vampire. Although I have fantasized about living in the wilderness and procuring nutrients from wild buffalo by drinking lifeblood straight from their neck.

I've been meaning to ask this for a while, and haven't gotten around to asking my doctor (don't tell me to ask my doctor). But anyways, I haven't gotten a bruise since around age 5 from what I can remember. Whether it be roughing around with friends, falling off a bike, getting hit by paintballs/baseball bats/balls, or anything else, I simply don't bruise. Sure it might be red for a couple hours, and even might welt up if the injury is bad enough, but I just don't bruise! It's not something I'm worried about, it's just a little peculiar. I remember asking a question on Yahoo Answers about it a while ago, wherein I got a couple dumbfounded nurses left me with no real answers. I'm healthy, have good circulation, skinny, and don't have any diseases, oh and my mother bruises very easily. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to biology, so any educated guesses would be much appreciated.

I don't have acne, but only because my skin is naturally very dry. I've been using lotion and my face, hands, and feet since I was a little kid.
  15. It's much easier to talk to girls I'm not attracted to, which are typically the ones I'm friends with. When I'm attracted to someone it is pretty freaking obvious by how socially [developmentally delayed]ed I act around them. And by "attracted" I don't just mean any good looking girl, but someone I'm truly attracted to. I have no problem talking to hot girls that I'm not interested in. So basically no and yes.

Well, damn. But I think this would be better fit in the "Today" thread.

To sum it up: amazing aesthetics, decent to mediocre plot. The historical budget alone was enough reason for me to see it, however.
  22. You're not getting off that easy. I expect an hour-long documentary on the economics of Australia along with your contest entry.
