Magic: the Gathering (split from trading card topic)
kelem_ryu replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
WTF! As i said in the TCG thread, i'm not up to date on magic. So i can't kill this guy using "target creature" spells, but i can kill her with Vindicate or something. I guess Bounces and Counters just got a notch more valuable.. I always thought though that the players are supposed to be planeswalker batteling each other. I had this dispute with a friend of mine. He viewed it as two cultures batteling each other, i viewed it as a wizards contest. I guess my friend is more right atm with the introduction of planeswalker. How many of them are out there? One of each color? uhm.. and do they have summoning sickness? They can't attack or block. They are not any closer to being a creature then to being an enchantment. EDIT: Think a bit on it, they seem to be more something for casual gamers and for style. The card you posted basically is just a cheap, powerful spell with three turns delay. You really just need somekind of bounce to disable the threat. True the ultimate is powerful, but the other abilities? A one damage clock for 5 mana, or a single target creature removal for 5 mana. I mean it's nice, but there are certainly stronger cards out there. THen again i don't know anything about the synergies she can be embedded in. -
[bleep] yeah! Deeper! Harder! Faster! ...huh? i'm a bit single minded these days... When the [cabbage] comes pouring down on you, do whatever you have to, beat yourself up, cut yourself, [bleep] yourself over anyway you please. Just stay on course and when it's all over it doesn't really matter what you did. You'll be stronger and your life will be much brighter. Just never give up! Dammit! I'm not even drunk or anything...

You got a loft in London? =P~

Mh.. some people cut each other for sexual pleasure. Not exactly my cup of tea, but hey.. whatever turns you on. I once cut an A(narchy) into my arm in the middle of the classroom when i was 13 just to freak people out. I have to say: It worked! When i was 14 i extinguished a cigarette on the outer side of my left hand. I didn't exactly know why i did it. I thought it wouldn't hurt, because it would be out fast enough. Guess i was wrong about that - the scar is still visible. I don't need to cut myself. I smoke. Guess cutting would be healthier. Anyway i think cutting oneself could be substituted for the right kind of sexual outlet. Anybody seen "Secretary"? Hope that wasn't too sarcastic. I just have hardly any relation to cutting and as already pointed out, cutting could and probably should be substituted for (rough) sex. Just my thoughts on that.

this is the reason i quit playing MTG. I believe it was shortly after Stronghold(?) came out, or roughly the time they started putting holographic colors and whatnot on the new sets. I can't really remember, but the game took a turn for the worse IMO because the new sets allowed ridiculously powerful combos and then it started to become a more "official competition" game instead of just something to play for fun. i'm not sure exactly what order these events took place, but the game lost all entertainment for me after that, and i sold all my cards to a friend for 50 bucks. (a good discount at the time) i recently acquired a green/black deck that works fairly well against another casual-fun deck, but i hardly ever get to play like that. I wouldn't say that it has something to do with the direction MTG per se went. There were insane powerful cards before Stronghold. I guess it's the way your gaming community went. I have similar experiences. You need to play with people who have similar card pools and similar understanding of the game. The problem is that there is no turning back, once you went higher on the spiral. At least to me playing with the decks i used to play in the beginning became boring. I'm not the biggest fan of competition myself though. I like decks that can do wild things, but i'd rather play with decks that can do planty of wild things, instead being completely focused on one strategy, with four copies of every card that is in there. It's fun to have random elements and many possibilites on what diection a match would take.

Why is this worse then the way you dress? Imo it would be damn boring if everybody would wear mainstream. Besides - i like fancy hairdress and piercings on girls --> More goths please.
-
?! Imo Goths just have a very elaborate taste.

Whew.. had to lok up half of the cards. Sweet deck - simple and to the point. What prevents you from getting overwhelmed in the early game? You have next to no defense, besides a couple of 2/2 and 1/1. I would put in some Manaproducing Walls instead of the Elves, but that's just me. I like decks with strong defence, heavy control elements and card drawing engines, or decks with massive amounts of burn. This is my blue/red deck: 10 Mountains 10 Islands 2 Shivan Reef 1 Faerie Conclave 4 [bleep]etail Hatchling 2 Cloud of Faeries 1 Soratami Cloudskater 1 Fleeting Image 2 Raven Familiar 2 Grim Lavamancer 4 Shock 4 Seal of Fire 4 Fire/Ice 4 Reckless Charge 3 Fact or Fiction 3 Unsummon 3 Miscalculation Send the fliers in with Reckless Charge and finish off with Burn. The card choices are a bit crude, but it works okay. That's my black/white control: 9 Swamps 9 Plains 4 Caves of Coilos 1 Forbidding Watchtower 3 Radiant's Dragoons 4 Duress 4 Gerrard's Verdict 4 Smother 4 Vindicate 4 Wrath of God 2 Death Grasp 2 Swords to Plowshares 1 Exile 2 Enlightened Tutor 3 Phyrexian Arena 1 Haunted Crossroads 1 Convalescent Care 1 Screams of the Damned 1 Story Circle Thinking about it, this one is pretty crude composed as well. I always have ideas for decks, but i'm too lazy to balance decks out. However.. thisone is slow, but once the cards come flowing in due to the arena the only hope for the opponent is that i deck myself before i'm able to kill him (and that's quite possible because the deck really hasn't that many kill options: Massive Death Grasps, Poking him to death with Dragoons or the Watchtower, or using Screams of the Damned...)

It's amazing how controversial such a seemingly harmless topic is. Maybe Emos are just somehow protesting against these male stereotypes of being tough and mean, with the result of leaning into the other extreme.

I avoid pissoirs.

No, i don't.

Well tbf Russia Did say they wre gonna point there missles at Europe, all about the US defence shield So is Russia really Defending itself by threating other countries i.e Whole of Europe Where did you hear that? They can't point there weapons at Europe. That would be political suicide.

Uhhh.. mhhh... Huh? i was daydreaming for a sec. I have a crush for girls with piercings, tattoos, died hair, clothes that fit that image, a filthy mind and dreams of submission. Did i just write that out?

=/ i was so sure about 2. anyway.. another go at 3: [hide]The Officer suspected Bob to be involved in a crime, but the fact that he was where the officer saw him was prove that Bob couldn't have done the crime.[/hide]

It certainly is a good game. It has the TCG drawback, being a money drain though. If you don't mind that, you might wanna try it. You can also play it online. There's a free trial version, where you just can play five basic decks, but it's quite fun. The game is pretty creative and complex. The basics are pretty simple, but it can get wild at some point (first time i heard of combos that can deal infinite damage i thought that had to be nonsense. Same for first turn victories.). I never played Yu-gi-oh or Pokemon, so i can't compare them to Magic.

@N0M_ANORs puzzles: 2 Should be correct, i doubt the others are: [hide] [/hide]

That's fun. I only got 2, 5 and 7. For some of the other i had ideas but they didn't sound elegant enough to be the solution. [hide] [/hide]

Definitely agree on that one. Hm.. on second though labeling migh have some advantages. To put it in a nutshell: Names have power. Adding to that, when you toss yourself under a label; and you are people's first encounter with that label, you represent how those people will generalize the rest of those that it under your label. Take for example, parkour (just bear with me here), most people have no idea what it is, and if they see some idiot kid with no idea what he's doing, calling himself a traceur, or a tricker, or a freerunner, or whatever, people who have just been exposed to parkour/freerunnig/tricking will form their opinion on it based on him, and his actions. Which is bad; just like the emo==cutter; emo==depressed; emo==whatever... Yeah, but if people can't put a label on you it can be even worse (in my experience). They'll just project anything on you.

Not everybody has as thick a skin as you obviously have. The world isn't exactly a nice place. It might be true that there are emos that are just conformists, yet the fact remains that the world isn't such a great place that everybody is happy and everything is sunshine. If that would be the case, there wouldn't be any emos. EDIT: I already asked: WTF is a "chav"?
-
Hm.. guess i'm a bit Emo then, if such a term can be applied to a 25 year old (then again in my mind i'm still 13 anyway.). Guess the Emo is a bit diluted though, because part of my friends between 15 and 20 were pretty much into this gangster thing, evolved into the techno scene though. Where does techno fit into this? Or is it not as popular in the US as it is here? What exactly is a chav?

What is Christianity? (A CALM discussion of what it's about)
kelem_ryu replied to Adventurer's topic in Off-Topic
I know one theory that I would like to look into: Me. You. In bed. Bang. That's what i think about when i hear "Big Bang" to. Well.. i don't exactly think about you. -
Idk.. this has to be an exaggeration, because Emo can hardly be about being a pathetic whimp.
