Things have really been bothering me lately...
kelem_ryu replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Off-Topic
Don't compare yourself to others. It doesn't matter if something could be considered rather female or male. Just do what you want. Associating behaviour or anything to a gender is just stereotyping. Forget the clicḫ̩̉̉s! Most of all you are human, not male. Just do whatever feels comfortable and forget about people, who want to fit anything into little boxes. Another thing. Sometimes i also think body hair, beard growing and such isn't particular attractive. When i look into the mirror i'm just too male for my taste. I'd definitely find myself more attractive, if i was a woman. I guess if you are hetero, you'll always find other people way more attractive - namely those of the opposite gender. At the end of the day this little imperfection of being male is pretty positive, because most girls like males =P (...and they don't necessarily prefer male males.) -
Tell them you are experienced most of all in photography. Tell them your strengthes too, instead of just your weaknesses. Don't tell them you are more interested in the photographic aspect, just that you have little to no experience in graphic design. Then sit down and see what you can do with the computer. They probably only want to get to know you a little anyway. If they really expect you to have experience in graphical design and see that as requirement, you can hardly fake it anyway.

Here comes the future of our country ladies and gentlemen...

What is the context of the video? Why was she asked the question? Ah sorry. I browsed around the related videos. This was the final round of a Miss America selection, where each of the finalist had to answer a "thought provoking" question. -

I sleep whenever i want to. Usually from ~6am till ~5pm. Sometimes it's completely different though, like 10pm till 5am. I feel most energized and creative during the night hours, when everything is quite (well everything but me). When i'm working on something i usualy do that in the hours from around midnight till i go to bed at 6am. I couldn't imagine doing anything serious during daytime, although i'd rather feel like ordinary work when it's light out there. So ordinary things = daytime, creative things = night for me.

The guy is amazing. I have seen other stuff by him to. It's interesting that people seem to share so many traits that they'd consider unique and seemingly aren't. Nevertheless every person is different. So a truely personal discription of a person would have to include different things. Maybe such a discription is only possible in comparison. I mean every person is shy, headstrong, smart and whatnot in a way. I actually consulted a professional astrologer once and wasn't impressed in the least. She didn't tell me anything i could work with. Once i met a guy on university who earned some money with astrology, so i drew my horoscope and he interpreted it (for free of course). Sitting there it all seemed okay and such, but later reflecting on it, it occured to me that he just gave away the impression he had about me. I don't think he did that consciously though. I think that he believed he saw that in the stars. At least many astrologers have no clue about what they are doing and are in fact cold reading (sucounsciously though). Maybe i should put some effort into my ascendant guessing game, so that i can make up a statistic for myself and see if there is any accuracy about it. Question: How would i have to set up an experiment so that it could be approved of?

Thank you! I'd certainly buy a Guitar to and some new clothes and shoes. I'd also buy some place to live, like a flat in the city. I'd certainly give a huge party, renting some cool location and have free cocktails and food for everybody. (Then again i might consider not to make the party entirely free and see if i could earn a living out of giving parties.) Guess i'd give some of it to my parents and my sister. I could give some random beggar a 100$ Note.. hehe and one to the punks that hang out on Mariahilfer StraÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸e. They'd certainly put it to good use =) I would use public transport without paying and when i get controlled, i'd pay the 60$ with a 100$ note and let him keep the rest as tip, just to insult the controll-thingy guy (however this is called in english). Hm.. maybe i'd even buy a cool location to make parties or whatever there. I'd definitely keep a larger sum to live of for some time. I'd order pizza all the time. Yummy =) That's all i can think of atm. I'd definitely carry some notes around me all the time, just in case an opportunity presents itself where i could do something funny with a couple of notes.

If that is true then i screwed up badly. So it better be not true. Would explain a lot though.

It doesn't quite look like a plane crashing site, but i give you that we can't know and it might just look like that. What the hell is a supermoderator? Sounds like very important. About the topic. Thing is that i don't really care about terrorist or the american government. For all pictures i have seen it just looks more like i'd expect a missile to look like and it looks more like controlled explosions that took down the twin towers. Looks the same when they purposely blast a building with demolitions, but heck what do i know about these subjects? Also i think 911 and the patriot act, oil fields in afghanistan, the iraq war.. all that fits together so nicely. So if you ask me i find the terrorist act less likely then the other scenario, but i'm just a distant observer and didn't even have TV at that time. So.. not my government and austria has reasonable good relations to the middle east --> next to no terrorist threat.

bla bla blub Kelem, thanks for the insight. I think you need to recognise the difference between science itself and some who feel they know more than you because they accept science. Science itself isn't laughing at you or thinking you're a moron because you think in an alternate way and you can rest assured I don't think that way either. Science is just one of many ways of looking at the world and uncovering knowlege. It's inescapable, though, that it's the one which produces the most useful results. I does seem a little like religion in the following way though: People are bashing believes, outlooks and such in the name of science, like people were killing disbelievers in the name of christ. I watched some very interesting documentaries recently. Seems there are many actual scientists out there, who pursue ideas that the mainstream would laugh about. I probably should write a book, like everybody seems to do nowadays. There are more obscure ideas that actually sell. I'm just too damn sensitive about what others think about me and also think there are already enough books out there. That doesn't preven other people from writing new ones though. Somehow this whole debatting here on tip.it.. idk.. it's mostly just arguing for the sake of argument. Basically nothing wrong with that, but recently i found it to be quite disstatisfying. Oh well.. i posted this link to the astrology site in some post above. I guess it's at least somewhat fun a read.

Rubik's Cube: the most diabolical puzzle ever invented
kelem_ryu replied to Mischlings's topic in Off-Topic
I once playe around with one (3x3) for a long time and ended up with two pieces in the wrong place. Then i gave up and never (seriously) tried again. I heared there is a technique though. -
I guess this really is too controversial. My thought on it? Too me it was pretty obvious that this wasn't a plane, when i first saw pictures on TV. Heck even my mother said that this didn't look like a plane crash. Then she asked if anybody wants something to eat. I guess people wouldn't want to believe it to be an action by the government, so whatever evidence/proof there is, might be or whatever won't ever suffice. there have been thread about all of these  Uh.. you got a point there.
-
I'm not going to argue at this point. I'll just tell you where i am coming from. So don't count what i'm going to type as argument. (Well i guess it would classify as authority argument. I won't delete it now anyway. *sighs*) I've spent lots of time gathering data and thinking about stuff. I'm constantly putting pieces together, drew some conclusions, raised questions and so forth. On top of that i had some unusal experiences during my life. All that has led to some set of believes. Unfortunately they differ from what is commonly accepted knowledge. Now i read and hear (for example in this thread) more then often that what i think is true, is not only false, but it's crap and people thinking tha way are morons. So i considered that. Maybe i'm not too smart. I considerably lack self confidence and there are so many people out there, who are very confident about their claims, whatever they may be. So i always were led to believe that since they are so confident they have to be right. How could they be so confident? Although everybody who knows me in person assures me that i'm very bright, most very convinced i'm more keen then they are, i'm not easily convinced by such remarks. Pondering on that though, comparing myself to other people, i found that i can concentrate very long, get things rather quick and such, i even made aome IQ tests (partly because i find them fun) and score way above average all the time. So i guess other people can't be more right because they think on a way higher level. Then how comes that people can be so convinced? It seems that has nothing to do with how corect they are. People can be convinced about the stupidest things, like those that want to ban Harry Potter from schools, because it is advertising witchcraft -.- I concluded that maybe i just should stick to my theories even though i don't get direct affirmation from outside. Then again i seriously considered to throw all my theories over board and believe what is commonly accepted, so that i'm not in conflict anymore. My theories don't make me happy or anything after all. Maybe they are just there so i can feel important, because i'm right and such - to stroke my ego. Maybe i'm wrong after all and my theories are based only on wishful thinking. However it's not the arguments that make me want to refute. It's the feeling that i'm seen as a misfit and as stupid - that i'm laughed on. I don't know if it is as important to me to be right (and i don't even know about that for sure. I don't want to be ostracized. Maybe 2+2=5, if you know the quote.) If you wonder what those theories i spoke of are, here is what i can think of atm. Whatever you believe to be true, is true. There is not really a difference between dreaming and being awake. The physical world is a shadow of some kind of world that's more real. Whatever you encounter is a reflection of (a part of) yourself. The concept of "love" is significant in a way. I can elaborate on those if you want. Why i bashed on science? Because i'm insecure and hurt.

For those of you a bit curious of it, i found that site (where i took the chart from) that offers free birth charts plus some interpretation. You just need to enter your birth date, city (it works perfectly fine, if you approximate the place, using the nearest bigger city) and birth time (birth time should better be accurate +- 5min would be good) Link

Once i dreamed of a song by Lagwagon, called "unborn". I was listening to this song in my dream. It sounded like Lagwagon. I even can recall some words of the lyrics. Thing is: The song doesn't exist. I've seen gremlins 3 ;) Awsome!

I kinda like these threads to in a way. You can't come to these threads just stating they suck. Instead you'll have to make your own threads. I remember the singing contest for example. I'd really appreciate threads with more heart and less head.

That does not make sense, mystical things like ghosts are supernatural beliefs. A supernatural belief can't be explained logically by definition. Supernatural means that it's not something that naturally occurs and that it 'goes against the laws of nature'. Logic is derived and exists because of those laws of nature. So how can you logically explain something that is illogical? How could something exist that defies the laws of nature? There is nothing supernatural. There are just things that don't fit our view of things. Btw logic isn't derived from the laws of nature. Logic is the study of statements. It uses language in a mathematical way. Both language and mathematics are products of our thinking, not of what we encounter in nature. ACtually the word "logic" ifs often used inproperly. Most of the time it should say "reason" instead.

Define "existance". At the very least the idea existst that your body and the world you are living in is real. The question is relevant, because if reality is merely a construct then the questtion arises: "What fuels this construct?" Imo it is fueld by our believes. Our believes in turn are fueld by our perceptions. That way we got a circle. We believe it, because we see it, we see it because we believe it. That would be Ren̮̩̉̉ Descartes, a famous french philosopher of the 17th century.

So about chance then... =P~ According to my math 100% divided by 12 equals 8.3% I wonder if even half of the people bashing astrology here have ever seen a horoscope chart before. They look like this and are strictly astronomical. They just display the constellation of planets viewed from the earth at a given time and place. Interpretation of the chart is astrology. ) (That's my birth chart taken from this site) Most peoples assumptions are based on what is called a "newspaper horoscope". Every astrologist will tell you that newspaper astrology can't be taken seriously. In fact nobody could possibly take them less serious then astrologers. It should be obvious that you can't make any individual statements only by using the so called sign of zodiac that is the same for every 12th perso who ever lived. [/hide] I still don't know how little dots on the sky have anything to do with my future. co-incidence

What troubles me most about science is that people are so convinced that their methods are the only legetimate. Scientific de facto immunizes (and i consciously use that term) itself against any doubt using scientific method. Everything that doesn't quite fit is immeadiately debunked: "unscientifical", "pseudo science", "true believer". To me scientific methode qualifys as "quasi-religious/mystical belief or as "superstition". Also science isn't based on facts as you claim. It is based on theories that are supported by sufficient evidence. So that are basically believes there to. You believe some theories to be true, because scientific methode yielded enough supportive evidence. Blasphemy, i know. Science sets the rules (its own rules). Everything that doesn't fit is debunked. I guess this should be another topic though.

Any argument i ever heard against astrology was based on false assumptions and extremly biased on top of it. Then we have to face the fact that astrology provides little measurable data. The biggest problem imo however is semantic. The language of astrology doesn't translate too well in our language. It doesn't even translate too well into our thinking. Imo astrology just doesn't fit into the scientific believe system. It might be fit into this system, but to explain how i can believe astrology to be accurate, i'd first have to explain you the basis of my believes. (You can find some of ithere.) Anyway. A horoscope chart is nothing more then a watch. It shows what time it is.
