How would i know how easy or hard english is to learn? I'm only able to communicate in two languages and i'm native in one of them (german). I could compare it to latin, wich i "learned" at school, but i never really grasped that one (since i wouldn't call sitting an hour or two over a short text with a dictionary and a grammar table, trying to translate it, grasping a language.) However i'd say it's fairly easy to learn day to day conversation in most languages. Even most natives never come close to mastering their language. So learning a language and mastering are two different things. I'm quite capable of understanding most written text in english and when i went to us when i was 13 (~10 years ago), some people were amazed about those little teen able to communicate with them more or the less fluently, but when i first picked up a book by say E.A. Poe, i just couldn't understand a single sentance without consulting the dictionary. Since it is Viktor who made up the thread, i want to add this: There is little to no need to learn a foreigne language at all, when you are already fluent in english, unless you want to stay somewhere for an extended period of time (years), or you are interested in languages per se (I have the feeling, you are more interested in cultures in general, than in languages inparticular.)

True, and that is going to be a downfall for our country. I didn't know that (as i'm not american). Deloria might be right. I mean hypothetically, if every american would want the idk 7th thingy (whatever it may be) in your constitution/bill of rights or whatever to be abolished, it couldn't be done?! The guys who wrote this paper weren't very wise if you ask me. On Topic some thoughts: -Countrys with stricter gun policy have much less gun crimes. -Yes guns are tools. They are tools designed to kill. Tools designed to kill are also called weapons. -Nobody would plead to ban swords, bows or similar things and it's interesting enough that basically nobody uses them to kill anybody. -The only weapons used for killing (in the sense of murdering in non war situations) are guns and knifes. -You can't ban knifes, because need them in everyday situations, like chopping vegtables. -the amazing thing about guns is, that killing is so easy with them. Just point and pull the trigger. As movies teach us ( ) especially first time killing is not as easy as some might imagine and takes some will to do. I think it is made easier with guns. I imagine it to be harder to take a knife and stab it into somebody, that just point and squeze your finger.

Post Your Superstitions and Strange Coincidences Here!
kelem_ryu replied to runescapeloser22's topic in Off-Topic
I don't believe in coincidents, i just believe that everything is how i want it to be. So if something unlikely happens, than it isn't a coincidence, it's just how i wanted it to be. Problem is, that it's hard to affect, what you truely want. Most of the time, when something unlikely happens, i have this feeling that it will happen beforehand. btw: Hi everybody! Don't know if you remember me. Just thought i have to drop by. -
can some1 go a bit off-topic here and tell me, why and when did this happen? :o or at least post a link to some other topic? :?: thanks A couple moths ago for real life item trading....

Do you believe in love at first site? Definitely. Do you believe in true love? Whew. Are you currently in a relationship? No. Are you just getting out of a relationship? Was it bad? No i don't. Yes it was. How do you handle rejection and/or break ups? Not so good. If you are dating, do you trust your partner enough that you would choose to marry them if you felt ready? I don't like the very concept of marriage. What about conceiving/adopting a child? I'd rather not. Nonphysically speaking, are you the man or the woman of the relationship? Depends. Do you believe in sex only after marriage? Well.. i don't believe in marriage, so... Have you or would you ever have a one night stand? Specify which. No i haven't. Unlikely but possible. Do you tend to date based on looks or personality? Goes hand in hand. If an extremely ugly person, with an amazing personality great for you, wanted to date you, would you accept? I don't distinguish looks from the rest of the personaliy. It's a whole. Do you do the asking out, or do you wait for others? Both is possible. Do you get dates at the 'snap of a finger'? No, but i don't snap my fingers, so maybe i should try that sometime. Have you ever been on a date? Yes? Have you ever kissed someone before? Uh.. Yes? Do you believe high school love is meaningless and won't amount to anything? Depends. In a relationship, do you tend to take control? Take control? Idk. I guess so? Have you ever been cheated on? Nope. (or yes! depends on how yo look at it) Have you ever cheated on someone? No. Have you ever been madly in love? Very much so. Have you ever yearned to have someone you couldn't have? Not directly. Have you ever broke out in jealousy because of something related to love? Not really. Do you currently have a crush on someone? What is a "crush"? I guess yes. Do you know if someone has a crush on you? Yaaahh... Would you have the guts to ask out your crush? It's a bit more complicated than that ...... And lastly, Do you believe love is too commercialized ie. Valentines Day, etc.? Idc, after all i can handle my relationships the way i want to.

I could say now, that i rarely ever use a bus, but the train or the subway. Also i could point out, that i'm not smoking 5 apcks a day. It's just that i lost track of what we are even discussing. To make a conclusion: Some people smoke, some don't. Some drive, some don't. Some store their dead kid in the fridge, some don't. Some like jelly beans, some don't. Some cut their wrists, some don't. Some take a shower on a regular basis, some don't. Some beat their wifes, some don't. Some chat during a movie in the moive theater, some don't.

I don't drive a car. I use public transportation. So driving is certainly not a necessity. Oh, how silly of me. I thought public transportation polluted the earth. I guess it doesn't. Uh.. 1) I pointed out that driving isn't a necessity, wich you didn't comment on. 2) You can hardly compare the pollution by public transportation to that of private.

I was vegetarian for some reason for about two years (also didn't eat eggs). Was a good experience, because now i'm more aware about how the food i'm eating feels like. Meat is much richer and more saturating. Vegeatarian cousine is light in the stomache. Since i was vegetarian i hardly eat any sausage anymore and i taste egg out of cakes (yuck). Eating meat right or wrong? I don't care. Right&wrong are wierd concepts.

That's why they are called emotional vampires or energy suckers.

That's exactly why i said, that you can't get an impression on how the song will sound like from this demo. Lyrics usually just chance the whole concept. Usually you got some lyrics plus a main riff as the base from wich you develop the song. The rest is just arrangement. About scales and things. It's of course not a necessity. It's just very helpful to know them. The most important thing is, that you have fun playing your guitar. Technique can't substitute passion (although that's true in the opposite diretion to.) Also you don't have to learn drums. If you really enjoy it, then by all means do it, but if you just have the feeling you need to learn that to, so that you are able on all three, then i'd stick to guitar.

ty for the clarification. I prefer those topics over discussions about abstract problems actually. Anyway on topic. upon injury the body releases endorphines. Some people cut themselves for sexual pleasure. S&M people do partly pretty wierd things. Most people who cut themselves probably do it, because they suffer from emotional pain and cutting is relieving. So if i'd cut myself and somebody would laugh at me for that, i'd just laugh straight back and tell him, that i enjoy it. No matter what you do, stand up for it and eventually you can't get hurt by anybodys laughter anymore. People won't laugh at you anymore though, as soon as you are completely self-confident. So thank every bully for immunizing you. In the end you'll be strong because of them.

I'm not trying to imply that smoking would be the best thing you could do, but for the sake of argument: How could you possibly tell that those 100 people died because of pollution and ot more or less? Also i want to point out another thing once again: Currently it's popular to jump on smoking and smokers. Yet there are a myriade of factors that decrease health significantly. My favourites are stress and noise. Some count in say electrosmog. Those are things nobody can defend against either. Maybe some people start smoking because of stress (i don't think that's exactly unlikely..) I just want to make people count together all the factors. From a certain point of view you just can't point a finger anymore. You can't blame anyone. Putting silly warning texts on cigarette boxes might decrease the number of smokers by x% and therfore reduce the cost of healthcare by y%, but it won't change anything about the big picture. Despising people because they smoke won't make them quit. Feeling sympathy to everybody, despite their bad habits, despite "lazyness", despite "stupidity", despite whatever might change something. Yet again this is what might lead to all this political correcness nonsense, wich is bad imo, because it produces a emotional void of some kind. Idk.. it's just not that easy. World isn't black and white. So a little conclusion: Smoking is bad for your health, i agree. Yet overly insisting on the "rights of non-smokers" and always pointing out the dangers of secod hand smoke is as absurd, as expecting a public toilette to be clean.

The greatest rock song is still to come. I can tell you the interpret though: ME :D

Well actually more for mine :P Recently i grew more and more bored with playing RS, so i had to find something different to do, to waste my time. Otherwise i might start doing something useful - god forbid! Also my mouse is a bit defunctional, so just hitting the record button is much more comfortable, than the amount of clicking that is involved in playin RS. With out further ado, here's a take on Somewhere over the rainbow. This is what came out: http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=18G8GVV1 Later more, maybe one of my own songs.

It's not that i woke up one morning and said to myself: "Oh, i feel like self destructing." It took a lot time of reflecting and looking inside to get a clear view on this. A lot of people have self destructive tendencies . Some eat themselves to death, some watch TV all night long, some play ridiculous online games 24/7, some drown themselves in work. Some look like they'd be healthy from the outside, but are boiling inside. Some step into their car with unconscious anger issues inside, that only beg to be let out by an accident. Either something with my perception is wrong, or the cities are flooded with feelings of frustration and depression. Sometimes it seems like the whole human civilization is self destructing. So yes, i'd prefer if people didn't have to self destruct around me to, but... Cigarettes are just the [bleep]ing tip of the ice berg.

He smokes 50 a day but isn't defending smoking? Kelem my fundamental question to you, to get to the crux of the matter would be this. Would you allow and/or encourage your children to smoke? Im not the one who is likely to forbid anything, but i defintely wouldn't encourage them. You should have figured that out by reading my posts. My opinion on smoking (in non ritualized form) is that it is an expression of self destruction and as such shouldn't be frowned upon, but encountered with sympathy (don't know if that is the exact right word in english. According to the dictionary i mean sympathy instead of compassion. Sometimes the dictionary doesn't get the connotations right though.) So knowing my children to smoke would make me worry deeply. thank you Anasthesia btw.
