  1. I'll exaggerate a bit (well maybe) to get my point across: I jump off a building and people complain: "What a jerk! He might have hit somebody!"
  2. "Secondhand smoke causes approximately 3,400 lung cancer deaths and 22,700-69,600 heart disease deaths in adult nonsmokers in the United States each year" It's all the smoking. Air pollution has nothing to do with it at all... Oh damn i got run over by a (completely sober) car driver and lost a limb. I'm sure the insane traffic these days has nothing to do with that, but we can't help it: Cars are sacred. Like I said, it is psychological. Nicotine is not prescribed to relax you or go to your brains. All it does is make you think it is going to relax you which therefore relaxes you. I'm not denying that it relaxes some people, but it is a psychological effect, and frankly I think if you have to inhale smoke to relax you need to find a new hobby. Nicotine is an Alkaloid that causes considerable physical effects. (Like sever addiction) Let's look it up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine Aha, seems it isn't the nicotine alone: That's psychological.
  3. What totally sickens me is the - what looks like a - witchhunt against smoking and smokers. The arguement with second hand smoking is pretty invalid considering all the air and noise pollution we face today. Sometimes it feels like somebody is saying: "Hey, we live in a perfect world, just those friggin' smokers are ruining it for everybody." I'm tolerant about what i consider irresponsible of other people too. So i expect some tolerance for my bad habits. What i also dislike is this stereotype: "smoking kills" as if dieing would be the worst thing that can happen. Even if you don't smoke you will die. No, it's not dieing and it isn't even about getting some painful disease like lung cancer. Smoking makes you less active, your can't breath that freely, yah, you'll smell smoky, food won't taste as good anymore, you'll look less fresh, you waste a ton of money, you are dependent on something, and so on. In other words your energy level decreases, due to smoking. You drain energy off your body and basically add crap. That that can lead to disease in the long run is no surprise, still the short term effects are considerable. Smoking decreases your life quality. I believe that smoking is just a outlet for more or the less subconscious self destructive tendencies/auto aggression. (At least that's what it is for me) So telling somebody to quit smoking is like telling somebody to stop cut himself.
  4. Thanks for the replys and sorry for the late response. Sometimes the mouse seems to be better, but actually there hasn't chanced anything. In the mouse settings, where you can adjust the doubleclick speed, this folder will open with one click (unless i try the mentioned comtrolled click), regardless of the speed setting. :( and no, my mouse has a cord, so that's not the issue. So i still have no clue what i could do.
  5. Juat have the old trust accoustic of my sister, since my E had a tragic accident two years ago. Was an Ibanez and i loved her. Still i had my hands on both a Fender and a Gibson and they are nice. Since i recently got a ton of money, i'm pondering the though of buying myself a new one. No idea what type though. Currently i just have this Jackson 5 string bass, wich is pretty cool. (I don't know anything about this number mumbo jumbo RX-g77.33 and such. To me i had a blue Ibanez with 5 pick ups. hm.. then again since the head of the neck is in arms reach: S 270... I miss you and i'm sorry  )
  6. Trying to be cool?! The ARE cool! They are [bleep]ing Metallica! They are one of the bands that defined the genre metal, they definitely know how to play their instruments and evolved and redefined themself over the years. One Sad but true Master of Puppets
  7. Okay, just listened to it. I can't help, have to say this: -Firstly the obvious: That's a song without vocals :? -Drums sound weak -Bass is better then the drums, still weak though (With weak i mean a bit clumsy) -Guitar is basically okay, although: -Solos.. You really need to practice them beforehand, instead of just improvising them. They have good beginnings and some parts sound cool, but inbetween there are just too many wierd passages. (btw learning scales can really help your improvisations later on. (i neglected to learn scales for much too long. now i regret it.) For now just figure out the exact solo beforehand) -Harmony and guitar riffs  Hope that didn't sound overly harsh. I'm aware how hard and time consuming it can be to put a song together, especially in the beginning. For now you really need to find a singer. Without one you can't even really record a demo. Your record is all nice and dandy, but it hardly gives an idea, how the finished song would sound like, since vocals are so very defining imo. There is a reason why the singer is called frontman. I suggest: Just sing yourself (i know that isn't everyones thing, but usually the people who play around with all the involved instruments and spent their time recording stuff are those who end up as singers anyway). You also need to find a drummer (bassman you already have it you write.) In the end you can't play all the instruments at the same time anyway. So i suggest just practice guitar and figure out some cool riffs and maybe write lyrics and experiment with your voice. Any drummer and bassist, who isn't a complete musical inept won't have any trouble to find into a given guitar riff. (On the other hand it would be nice if the guitarist is able to fiure out fitting riffs to bass and drum parts to, because the other instrumentalist sometimes have ideas to.... just speaking out of experience with a band as bass player.)
  8. What's wrong with your physical condition?! (If i may ask) I don't really have any ambitions. Just trying to figure out, what i want to do with my life. Until then (if i'll ever find out) i just do random stuff.
  9. Unless there is some sinister motive behind this.. put me up to.
  10. Surely you forgot to carry a 1 or drop a remainder? That's insane! Not nearly as insane as other stuff i did in my life. Didn't get what the first sentance is supposed to mean (english isn't my primary language :| )
  11. I smoke since 10 years - am up to about 50 cigarettes a day. (At least i don't do any drugs anymore :P ) Some of my friends smoke, some don't. Nobody in my family does. One word about second hand smoking: Cars!
  12. Daan methinks. (although i'm kind new here so i don't know anybody too well.) I can relate to most of you in one way or another though. EDIT: Might not be so true for OT.

    Communism.

I'm making heavy use of my freedom :uhh:
  14. I'm 65kg (143lbs) distribute among 180 cm that's 5.9 feet according to this calculator. Looking at the tabell that equals 5' 11''. (Unless put on a rack i won't grow anymore) Always felt to be about average size.. hm... btw.. you should amputate everything behind the 2nd position after the comma. 1.87654 is a bit ridiculous..
  15. Yah, i know all that. Just experiencing it was dissapointing.
  16. garraghh! Listening to MIDIs causes me physical pain... Thank you for those though. When i read this thread in off topic about Id game i remembered that there was one particular track, that really freaked me out. I'm quite sure it is #18 from your zip, but now i just have to install this game and check out for myself. (Probably easier then playing around with the MIDI kits until i get something satisfying. Those brutal riffs with this cosy MIDI kit.. :-X ). What's the cheat code to select a specific lvl again? and do you know in what lvl #18 plays? EDIT: Just installed the game and it doesn't sound much better there :( . 12 years it rocked, now i can't hear it because the quality is too bad for me. *cries*
  17. Guess i'm not exactly the best person to give you any tips, because i struggle very hard to write lyrics i like. At least you probably don't have to choose a language first. That's already good. One thing first: It's at least as important how you sing as what you sing. When you are done writing your lyrics, you shoud already have in mind how this song is supposed to sound. Is it supposed to be angry, fun, disturbing, melancholic, or whatever. To choose a topic, you should pick something you have strong feelings towards at the moment you write. This could be something that pisses you on, a fun thought you just had, or some scenario you just dreamed up. <-- i guess all that is kinda obvious. Good lyrics can't be forced. Also don't limit yourself by forcing ryhmes and this stereotype verse/chorus scheme on your song. There are great songs without ryhmes and/or without chorus. It's rare that a song just falls into place. Usually you write something, then time passes and later you pick it up, alter it, remove some lines, add new ones, add a riff, remove a riff, build in a new part and so on. A song is never finished (well, maybe when it is on an album). Don't think too much about it! (That's my bane. I always think about it and censor everything i write and do, do i never get anything done.)
  18. Really appreciate your help, .. 1) That's the soundtrack of the movie, don't know if it's the same as the game 2) I get a ton of search results, but not what i'm looking for 3) hm.. if it's no problem, that would be cool, then i'd at least know if that is what i am looking for. Usually i hate MIDI (that's one reason why i play rs without sound), but i guess the game had midi sounds... lemme hear :) btw.. congratulations on modhood. (if that is something were congratulations are appropriate)
  19. I'd really like to have the soundtrack of the original Doom game from 1993. Does anyone know, where i could find it?
  20. If you really want one, you'll tumble into one by accident anyway.
  21. I only have one cousin who's younger than myself and the last I heard she was being arrested by my uncle for theft. Maybe I'm not a good role model? :P Your uncle arrests family members?!
  22. Goddamn, are you into beastiality? She looks like a horse. lol! If horses actually would look like that, i would. EDIT: Funny that you can see something so entirely different in this photo.
  23. Yep Make up + photoshop = beauty The thread isn't about beatuy, it's about "hottness", with what i mean sexappeal. Important factors include gesticulation, facial play, charisma, voice, tone of voice and such things. There are girls and women, who aren't even particular pretty, who are very hot nevertheless. (Okay, here we have a definition problem of the word "hot"). A nice body alone won't make a women hot. A stoic facial expression will neither. I'll post this photo of Milla Jovovich again, because it was a nice find and expresses exactly what i mean by hot, as far as it can be shown by a photo: Maybe her mouth is too wide and her eyes to small, but the body language is playful and natural.
