  1. Started the day with 74 summoning, at 88 now (129 combat too) and going to see if the items I have will be able to get me to 89 before I stop summoning for the day. I actually had a relatively large amount of items stockpiled in my bank before this weekend was announced (4k granite, 1.3k bananas, 275 obsidian charms) and I've only used them, so I'm pretty happy. I also have 2k crimsons, about 1k blues, and 1k greens left over once I get through everything in my bank. I don't think Jagex should ever do this again, but I'm sure as hell taking advantage of it. It's a bit of a mess, but it's something to take advantage of while it's there.
  2. That was what I was trying for, and this is the last time I'll pull that trick. I just wanted to see if people would be tricked by that. I still call it hitpoints, I just had to try that.
  3. itution. Also, most recent slayer task: Also, in case anyone cares, since the last update, I have gotten 79 farming, 89 slayer, 91 and 92 ranged, 94 defence (have screenshots, just don't feel like uploading all of them.) That's all for now.
  4. If I'm pressed for inventory space or something along those lines (example: abyssal demons), then no. But if I'm ranging and losing tons of money on darts, or if there isn't all that much else to pick up, then I will pick up coin drops either to somewhat offset costs (even though one pile of coins barely pays for one dart) or to come out of the task with something to show for it. Really, it all depends on which way I'll make the most money -- if the stack of coins is worth less than another drop that I could be keeping, then I just drop the coins.
  5. This I agree with, except that I think the last digit actually speeds up exp/hr. Constitution really doesn't click in my mind...I'll always be calling it hp >.< ~Dan I think everyone calls it "DDS", too, even though the name was changed in August 2006. Some names just stick. The last digit does speed up combat, though not by more than 2% once you're at a decently high level. Also, it's just a number -- I'm used to it already. (Really, what amazed me is that this update went up with very few glitches -- I was sure that there'd be some way to get 10x experience or the SGS would heal insane amounts of prayer points or something -- very little was overlooked, which I applaud Jagex for.)
  6. Was the 40 hit the killing blow?
  7. Join the clan chat "Burstinglobs" -- I believe that they have a specific world that you can use for the doors. Last I checked it was world 66, but it's been so long that it might have changed. Just check the title of the chat.
  8. From what others have told me (people who do a TON of concentrated gold mining), it increases mining speed by about 15%, so as long as you have the money and plan on doing a lot of mining, it is worth it.
  9. $5.95, plus a $0.12 international processing fee with my bank, so $6.07. Not a bad deal.
  10. Pure here has a point. there's always a debate though when to pot so it's not a "waste". I'd say between 5 and 3 levels from being back to normal. Eg for me i'll repot betweel 88 and 90 in my melee stats. Or if you don't mind burning through money more quickly (some people do, but I don't), you can repot every 5 minutes. I do that to get the most out of each spec, which is important when you use SGS for specs, but if you don't, then pot just about any time. Just figure out how much you're willing to spend on pots for training and let that decide for you.
  11. Yes but you have 91 in both attack and defence which if you super pot is atleast level 110 in each ;) so you kill things quicker than either myself and the topic poster Killing faster doesn't change how much damage you take unless it's a monster that you have to wait for a respawn -- you just get more kills in the time you take as much damage as someone else. As for the original topic, switch out torso for Torag's/Guthan's Plate, use super defence pots, and Enhanced Excalibur. It doesn't give as much defence as a super defence potion, but it's 200 hp (I still use hp out of reflex) every 5 minutes. All of that adds up.
  12. The prayer bonus is really good if you ever decide to use boosting prayers to make tasks go by faster. It's 500k or so -- it really won't break anyone's bank. Also, if you have 70 defence, unless you insist on DIY, there is no reason to use rune. Barrows armours are far and away much better and don't cost too much. Full slayer helm isn't necessary -- hexcrest and focus sight do help, but so much of what you do will be melee that it's not that great of a difference. I'd save that for when you have more money. But definitely get the slayer helm -- if you don't use that, don't slay. Use Torag's/Guthan's Plate with Verac's skirt. Abyssal whip with rune defender is also a must. Get either fury or glory depending on how much you have to spend -- the fury is a lot more expensive than the glory and the attack bonuses are the same, so a glory can do. Use dragon boots and barrows gloves, along with warrior or berserker ring. Using rune or dragon is a waste -- barrows repairs don't cost that much, and the defence you lose is significant -- the only armour with worse defence you should ever use is proselyte (when you use piety), Karil's (when you need magic defence), or Bandos (extra strength bonus when you really don't need the defence).
  13. I use proselyte plate, verac's skirt, and pray piety the entire time. With a war tortoise full of sharks, I can easily manage 40 kills a trip (about my limit due to keeping all the bones). It cuts down on the number of prayer potions that I have to use, and since you have 99 defence, you should easily be able to manage tanking them, even in proselyte. I don't even need a DFS to keep the damage to a reasonable level.
  14. Since you seem to plan on doing a significant amount of mining, you should get a dragon pick. I've heard from some miners at LRC that it speeds up your mining there by 15%, so I would guess that overall it speeds up all mining by 15%.
  15. Let's see, you can afford Bandos and Armadyl armour, but I would get other things before you were to get those, as they'll take a very large chunk out of your bank. For slayer, Barrows armour at the least (Guthan's Plate and Verac's Skirt), whip, rune defender, barrows gloves, dragon boots, whatever the best cape you can get is (soul wars, fire, skill), fury if they're still possible to get (I have no idea if they are), Berserker Ring. Slayer helm is a must, and since you have the money and they're available on the GE now, get a full slayer helm (black mask, focus sight, and hexcrest along with the various gear you can buy from the slayer masters). I would also say that Karil's and Zamorakian Spear are needed for waterfiends. Don't forget to use super sets (except that they're really hard to buy right now, so you might want to wait to buy them until after the xp weekend is over). With the budget that you have, I wouldn't think that those would be too much to get. If you want to get more hardcore, then I would start to recommend cannon, cannonballs, Bandos, Armadyl, and truckloads of prayer potions to use superhuman strength or piety on every task -- but those get expensive and really cut down on the profit margin of slaying, so some people don't like it. By other combat, unless you mean boss hunting, then about the same will work for the majority of monsters you will fight.
  16. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?dynamic -- set up a signature here. Or just type out your stats -- you don't need to update them all the time, we just need a ballpark as to what your stats are so that we can recommend monsters (you can't kill waterfiends with 60ish stats, for example)
  17. I can confirm that the focus sight works -- was hitting over 200 on blue dragons with rune darts earlier today. Haven't had a chance to test out the hexcrest yet -- need a good task to use it on.
  18. Which is exactly why I bought it as soon as I possibly could -- I try to be efficient, but really, I'll pay for not having to use that hammer myself.
  19. It added 1 damage in just 5 hits with the random numbers I just used one post above you. Can't imagine how much it would add after 1 hour of straight combat. Any idea how many hits you could get in that time? Kinda want to figure it out lol. EDIT: I'm sorry it added 1 damage in 4 hits. I'm pretty sure you can get a couple thousand hits in an hour with whip. Total guess on my part, though. But take your values and extrapolate it over the course of 99 str. It's pretty damn efficient. Up to 1500 hits in an hour with a whip, up to 3000 with darts, and if you cannon in a really crowded area, you can get 6000 hits in an hour. Magic spells can be cast 1200 times an hour (I believe), leading to a maximum of 10800 hits in an hour assuming you're barraging 9 at a time. I can't find the chinchompa's speed, but I'd imagine it's about the same as magic. @TUBA -- the game used to round down all the hits, so even if you "hit", you could have a hit between 0.1 and 0.9, which would be a 0 instead, so you'd hit a lot of 0s that weren't "misses".
  20. According to another thread (I think it was the main discussion thread), that is the case.
  21. It concerns me that half the people commenting on it don't see a damn thing except what Jagex said about the low levels. Read the last paragraph and think for more than 2 seconds. The possible applications of this change are staggering and, while it will take some getting used to, this will open up whole new elements to the game. Could have been done without adding another zero to everything. You are the one who thinks too simply. Thank you for that insightful look into my personality. In addition to solving the problem with allowing a higher maximum number of "life points", this also fixes problems with rounding errors, meaning that hits that would've been rounded down are now counted, speeding combat up by a small amount (usually 2% or less, but there's still an increase). I also think it looks better even though it is going to take getting used to. That and in about two weeks, everyone will be used to it. http://www.runescoop.com/soapbox/2010/03/03/issue-10-%E2%80%93-20000-for-that-ipod/ -- read that -- a level-headed look at people acting like idiots after this update.
  22. The only thing that they did wrong with this update is not immediately having any constitution boosting items -- if there were some, then I would have to imagine there would be better reception to this update -- that is, once these people got over their illiteracy to see what was going on.

  24. I think they spent too much of the blog on the uninteresting aspects of the switch. Seriously, the aspect of it that appeals to new players is actually pretty low -- there's a hell of a lot more that they can do with it, which is only touched on at the end. Yes, they made the game better and easier for new players, but for the love of all things holy, don't think that's the only reason they made the update. Read the last paragraph. We can finally have more hitpoints (and I mean more relative to what you get hit, not the fact that it's 990 max now as opposed to 99.), meaning that it's possible for higher hitting weapons to be released without completely overpowering characters by allowing a KO from full health. It's opening up the game to more than just getting the lower levels to higher levels more easily -- it opens up the door for a ton of high level content.
  25. What do you plan on doing? If slayer, then go with EE and bunyip -- those two eliminate the need for Guthan's on pretty much every task out there as long as you're using Bandos or better for armour (barrows is better defence wise). Boss hunting is a bit of a different story -- you might still need Guthan's for those and I'm not as much of an expert there.
