Berserker ring (i) has +8 strength. Onyx ring has +6 in all offences and defences, but not in Strength/Prayer/Range strength/Mage bonus. My bad -- I refuse to get the imbued rings and I missed the (i). But still, the attack bonuses are quite a bit more valuable, since no matter whether you use crush or not, you're still going to miss quite a bit. So, really, you'll want the attack (and don't forget some defence) more than slightly more strength. That's how I'd look at it, but I don't the rings to really know or have tested it out.

Berserker only has +4 strength while onyx (i) has +6 EVERYTHING. That should say it all.

The only reason to use the Chaos Tunnels is if you have an iron or steel titan and can use their scrolls (which speed up kill speed A LOT). It's not worth it if you're not using a combat familiar.

I seem to recall getting ~40 rune ores an hour at the Light Temple rock (no familiar, 85/86 mining). That included 40 times hopping worlds. Therefore... 40 world hops*40 seconds=1600 seconds hopping, 2000 seconds mining 2000 seconds mining/40 ores=50 seconds/ore So, if you were to mine at Keldagrim and hit every single one: 100 seconds/world (mining the two rocks), 40 seconds per world hop. 3600/140=25.7 worlds, 2 rocks per world --> 51.4 ores per hour (actual number will be lower, due to the necessity of banking). So, theoretically, 50 an hour would be reasonable. Now, if you want an absolute theoretical maximum... Every time you mine something, you have a chance to get the ore every 2.4 seconds. 2.4 seconds per ore, 2 ore per world, 40 seconds to hop=44.8 seconds per world. 3600/44.8=80.35 worlds ---> 160.7 ores, minus however much time lost due to banking. Of course, that is pretty much impossible.

Construction, summoning, or slaying. Construction because very few people are 99 in it, summoning because it's recent, and slaying because it causes a lot of combat exp gain. For some reason, a lot of people do untrimmed HP. It's not too tough, between mini-games or just breaking up your exp. I'll probably get untrimmed HP as my first cape (97 right now) and I have never trained hitpoints specifically -- it just comes from having 94 melee stats and 92 ranged. It's quite common, it seems. Slayer and Summoning have to be the rarest because the rest can be stumbled into, so to speak -- slayer and summoning have to be planned in order to get them untrimmed.

If you decide to kill Goraks, wear a ring of wealth. It's pretty much the only monster that it's actually a good idea to use one of those on -- they drop so many things on the rare drop table that it's actually worth it.

Varrock Armour 2 or 3 is very useful -- you can get double ores without it, but they're much more common with the armour and it's possible to get triple ores when you use it (extra from rock and extra from armour at the same time). Take either Obsidian Golem or Lava Titan depending on your summoning level -- the beasts of burden aren't as helpful as you'd think. World 84 is possible, or you could use the clan chats "mining golds" or "mininggolds" -- look them up on the RSOF. Also, and this is one of the best training methods, even though it isn't well known -- equip a fire/lava battlestaff, bring a large stack of nature runes, and wear goldsmithing gauntlets. You can superheat the gold ores without interrupting mining, allowing you to mine at nearly full speed while also getting smithing and magic xp at the same time -- if you ever want 99 in either of those skills, you're wasting your time by not superheating while mining. The only negative is that it requires A LOT more attention. Dragon Pickaxe increases speeds up mining by about 15%, so if you plan on a lot of mining, get it. Mine with the crowd -- the more people on a rock, the longer it lasts. If you solo mine, you'll make that one collapse faster, meaning it's more likely that all rocks are down at the same time, slowing everyone down. Teamwork is essential down there, which is why a clan chat is better than just mining on world 84 -- it's very coordinated so that everyone can mine at the same rock at the same time. Also, in those chats, there are often people coming to the mines who are willing to bring food, so armour and healing aren't as necessary. That's all that I can think of off the top of my head.

Mother Gaia: An In-Depth Manual to Farming

Torag's works, but if you ever use prayers on assignment, get Verac's skirt. The prayer bonus is helpful and the defence is the same as Torag's legs -- it's just more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Why Runescape needs instanced bosses.
Mischlings replied to Lugia_Lvl138's topic in General Discussion
Ya if they were only gonna rework one monster to make it worth killing and had a poll for it I'd definitely pick the chaos elemental. firstly they'd need to remove the ability to cannon it... 5 cannons = dead chaos elemental and dead revs. and adding instanced bosses is just a step... imo the entire concept needs reworking. we need bosses who require different tactics to fight. like a boss who you can't eat or use a potion on... or a boss where your skills are capped at 60 and lose levels for every kill you get. or a boss who can only be harmed if two elemental spells hit him at once removing some sort of shield. Let's make some sort of boss fight similar to the way you killed the Spirit Beast in Summer's End. You need to do something like that in order to weaken it enough to do damage -- similar to taking down the shield against Tormented Demons. Let's make a boss like Nomad, just who doesn't call his attacks as obviously. Really, if they can make a large number of bosses that all have similar earning rates, it'll spread the people out. If it will come down to personal choice more so than this is the best for money (I love killing Tormented Demons regardless of the money, but I know a lot of people will go there just because it's 2-3 million an hour without needing insane stats) then people should be spread out pretty well. I hope that made sense. -
Building off what Codguy said, if you're in the right place, you can hunt red chinchompas while catching black warlocks. I would think that that could be a really fast way to get hunting up, but if you hate red chinchompas (I'm somewhat neutral about them myself) it's not such a good idea.

I agree with most people here -- sell it. The only real use it has is at a couple of the GWD bosses and MAYBE at barrows (the need for it might be obsolete if you know what you're doing even though you can't take any familiars there -- SGS can pretty well cover the use Guthan's used to have at Barrows) -- for slayer and most monster hunting, it's become obsolete thanks to the bunyip and unicorn. Sell it, buy a ton of pots and cannonballs, then have fun with slayer.

Tanning at Canifis would need to be >10% faster in order to break even, and I don't know if it is. It's not like it's that far in Al-Kharid in the first place. I don't have the means to test it at the moment, so someone else would have to.
-
Last time I tried the skills necklace it teleported me outside the guild, forcing me to run inside then up the stairs. It doesn't seem worth the hassle and seemed slower to me, but that might just be me.
-
Al-Kharid is the most economical -- if for someone reason you're willing to pay more, Canifis is faster, but more expensive -- it's not worth it to use Canifis to tan.

@yolink -- I was thinking of that method, but given what you said, I doubt that it would work well, if at all, for me, mainly the lack of overloads. @toast -- I think that Ancients are a little expensive for me down there -- I'd prefer to stick to the standard spellbook. @i_r_slayer -- I think I like this method, I'm just trying to work out a good setup. So far, this is what I have: (I would replace the antipoisons with + or ++, that's just what I have right now in my bank) I don't have the level for Fire Surge, so I think Claws of Guthix is the best that I could use. I'm wondering if I should take something in place of that extra brew or if that setup would be good as it is.

I can kill about 20 or so an hour, but with your current setup, you're not looking at good speed. Most importantly, get your ranged up. It will be the slowest part of each kill. Yes, you'll get a good amount of ranged xp at TDs due to their low defence, but even so, you're going to need high ranged. Spend some time somewhere and get it to 90+. And use rune crossbow with broad or runite bolts -- I use broads because they're cheaper but I know some people (muggi, that means you) who swear by runite bolts. Like others have said, godsword/whip. MUCH better than halberd -- I tried it once and stopped the trip early so I could get a decent melee weapon. The north spot is really good -- go to the least populated world you can find because, no matter what, they'll spawn fast enough, since you're alternating between fighting two different spawns. Also, use black dragonhide to kill them until you get good at prayer switching and such, then switch to void armour -- the constant 10% to damage and accuracy is huge. It's almost paper thin when it comes to defence, but between a unicorn and EE/SGS plus a bit of emergency healing (brews, sharks, summoning potion, whatever you're going to use), it shouldn't be a problem.

Wow, Ampharaos, that was a lot of information. The steps you listed were about what I expected for solo tribriding. Now, you mentioned killing only two, specifically Rex and Prime, and I used to do mage-range hybriding before -- where would I have to be to stay out of Supreme's range? As long as I stick to the side opposite the ladder, I'd think I'd be fine, I just want to make sure. Here's how I think it would work: 1) Enter, melee Supreme to death with SGS (to use for healing and prayer restore on spinolyps as well) 2) Safespot Rex and mage to death 3) Range Prime, telegrab any good drops 4) Alternate back and forth between Rex and Prime, staying in the Southeast (?) area while killing Rex. Is that about right? EDIT: I'm pretty sure that this is a no, but if I die, is it possible to get back without someone there to bless my grave? I doubt it, but is there a way?
-
Have it and was thinking of using it sometime in the future when I had a dagannoth task. @i_r_slayer, wouldn't Rex attack me while I was killing Supreme, though? I remember seeing a video of solo tribriding in which both Rex and Prime were killed at about the same time so that Supreme was the only one left alive for as long as possible, making it easy to kill him. I don't know if I'd be able to kill Prime and Supreme in the time it takes Rex to respawn, so wouldn't I get hammered by Rex?
-
So, from what I can see here, spinolyps aren't a problem when using a unicorn. Okay. So I can't really tank Supreme's attacks? I was thinking it'd be possible, so I might have to rethink that. As for the pulling, I would most likely use a crystal bow against Prime. So I'd have to be at about as far as I can possibly be -- on rapid, I'm guessing? Or would I have to use long range? I was actually thinking of solo tribriding (killing Prime and Rex almost at the same time to give me as much time to deal with just Supreme as possible), though there was another idea that I had that I don't know if it would be viable, but I seem to remember seeing someone mentioning it (kill just Supreme and Rex while constantly praying mage against Prime). As for my stats, here are the relevant stats: 94 attack, strength, defence 97 hitpoints 92 ranged 87 magic 89 summoning I also do not have any extreme potions.
-
1) Just how far can each of the Kings see you? And I don't just mean Prime -- how far do I have to be from Rex and Supreme for them not to see me? 2) Is it possible to tank Supreme's attacks? Would using Piety while wearing Verac's and using a unicorn for healing suffice? (I would probably use SGS to kill Supreme and be praying mage so Prime doesn't destroy me) 3) Now that the spinolyps hit a little more accurately (constitution update), are they any more of a nuisance than before? Do I have to worry about losing a large number of hitpoints to them? Just a few questions that I had -- I haven't been there since before the RuneTek 5 update, so I was wondering what has changed since then.

Haven't torstols been going up in price constantly since the update that added overloads to the game? I thought that the xp weekend just hastened the rise in their prices. -
Why Runescape needs instanced bosses.
Mischlings replied to Lugia_Lvl138's topic in General Discussion
This. My friends and I went to KQ a few days ago after going to TDs simply because it was something different and fun, but it got bored extremely fast. It wasn't hard at all with three or even two people, so if something like this was implemented I think they would also have to make the bosses of yesterday harder due to the power creep and supplies that we have at our disposal today. They might have to give the KQ a boost in power or just make an additional drop really rare in order to make it not an overpowered source of money that won't destroy the economy of an item. See, if the D2H was ever worth something or the D chain was still worth something, then the KQ would be a good boss to fight. Like I said in my post, I don't necessarily recommend giving the KQ claws as a possible drop -- it was just a suggestion. Giving the KBD the visage in its drop table was a step in the right direction, but we need a little more than just a step. I also think that the CE was a wasted boss monster, so to speak. It's a prototype of a difficult boss that you need tactics to fight, stuck in the middle of the wilderness where it can be quite dangerous, but the drops are just so worthless that it's not worth the effort. As for untradeable weapons or armour -- possibly, though I would make it some of the secondary equipment -- not plates, legs, or helmets, but instead make it like amulets, rings, gloves, etc. The difficulty would be doing this in a way that wouldn't make the current bosses obsolete. It'd take a lot of balancing, but I think reworking the old bosses is the best method. How exactly to do that is a job best done by someone else. -
90 Slayer, 89 summoning, the fun has begun

Geyser is a really good combat familiar -- there are better, I know, but it makes a huge difference when it comes to multicombat tasks. Just be careful with it on some tasks -- for example, it got killed when I was killing spiritual mages because they just did not miss when they were targeting it.
