  1. http://forum.tip.it/topic/222890-melee-ranging-and-a-slight-diversion/ That link will give you answers to most of your questions.
  2. If you don't want to cannon in Taverly kill them in CT for the charms. Super easy safes there as well. The charms in taverly and CT are the same now -- that was updated a while ago, though I can't remember exactly when.
  3. I do have void melee yes and I have enough for a zamorakian spear and BGS but I've heard that his attacks are magic based? Would it not be better using some mage defence armour? I didn't really notice a difference in how often he hit me when I tried using black dragonhide. I've seen speculation that he uses a mix of magic, ranged, and melee attacks, but that's just speculation. Either way, I didn't notice a difference in how often he hit me, but I did notice a difference in how often I hit him. It's not an easy fight (unless you have some really good stats), so you need every advantage that you can get.
  4. Well, if you have money to throw around, cannon and range in Taverly. If you don't have as much money, just range them without the cannon. It's either that or kill them using prayer armour and praying against melee, it's up to you to decide which you want to go with. Each has their own adavantages, but expect this task to take a while if you don't have the money to throw around to use a cannon.
  5. Three options: range black dragons, kill baby black dragons, or just skip the task. I have them blocked, personally, as I don't like any of the methods to complete that task. You'll want to look at Duradel's tasks and start working on your block list.
  6. With your stats, I would say start using Duradel. If you have the charms to, get 68 summoning, at which point you have no excuse not to use Duradel. His tasks are just better. Also, the quests are important. Do as many as you can for more monsters. Helps with the variety.
  7. I am a college student and a video gamer. Therefore, I must be sleep deprived. Why that is the case, I am not completely sure, but it is, and so I am here saying some things while sleep deprived. Oh well. 1991/2000 skill total at the moment. Just happened to have enough penguin points to get 74 prayer today, so I decided that it would be a good idea to do so. Now 1 prayer level, 1 summoning level, 1 smithing level, 2 hunter levels, and 5 construction levels from all 75+. Would put me at 2001 skill total, so all 75+ may or may not be my next goal. I would say that I'll go for all 80+ after that, but that would start to get both expensive and time consuming, so for now I'll stick to trying for all 75+. Maybe after I train slayer a bit more. I'm not sure what exactly I'm going for at the moment, I just do various skills in between all the intermittent activities that make a ton of money without even noticing. My cash pile hasn't fallen under 40 million in about a month and I don't know how as I spend money pretty often. I don't know what else I have to say. Maybe sometime soon I'll have something significant to say.
  8. I make use of your spreadsheets, but the way that I train isn't influenced too much by environmental factors. If something is impossible to buy, I don't train using that item -- that much is obvious. For the most part, though, I just train whatever. Sometimes, however, when things fall the right way, I'll train something a specific way -- for example, when cooked sharks cost more than raw (it does happen), then I decide to train cooking a bit. I stop after a couple thousand sharks usually, but sometimes I do adapt to the environment. I'll also sometimes hold onto monster drops and wait to sell -- I've had a few dragon tasks recently and I'm holding on to the bones until they rise and plateau later -- then when they drop again I'll buy some as low as possible, as I'll end up training prayer eventually. As for what's good to train right now? Whatever I think I should train at the moment. Also, mining at living rocks might not be the greatest pure mining xp, but try superheating while you mine using gold gauntlets. Superheating doesn't slow down your mining if you time it right and it is quite a large amount of xp/hr all at the same time in three different skills. You get not too far under granite's mining rate along with decent smithing and magic xp, which all adds up pretty substantially. Every now and then I regret missing something in a skill that I should've seen coming (dragon bones when a prayer update was looming), but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. The economy of skills is always changing, if you don't keep up with it, don't shoot yourself, just live with it. That's my approach to it.
  9. Entire thing, no idea how long it'll take -- it's not that bad, just follow the tip.it guide and as long as you have the requirements, it won't take that long. Couple hours or so, I would guess.
  10. Didn't plan on using protection prayers anyway, just piety. Any idea about how many prayer potions I'll need to take to fill up my inventory/tortoise with bones? Again, a rough estimate is fine. oof... if you piety flashed you could get away with a single prayer potion otherwise hmm let me double check so you have +29 prayer, roughly havlign ur prayer drain rate u drain 1 prayer point every 1.8 seconds normally, so 1000 ppoints per hour with turmoil and overloads i get about 120-150 wyvern kills per hour,so lets just assume 120 wyvern kills per hour lets also assume a war tortoise... so... you can get ~40 kills before banking? 350 ppoints before banking minus 75 ppoints rough estimate of ur prayer lvl 275 ppoints... ~10 doses of prayer potion so 3 ppots(4) should be enuf Thanks, I didn't expect an answer quite so involved. I'll have to write down/remember this information, will come in handy in the future. Task should go without any real problems now.

  12. I've killed Skeletal Wyverns before, but after getting a task of 78 and seeing the price of the bones, I've realized that I need to rethink my method a bit. My usual slayer equipment is: Slayer Helm Proselyte Plate Verac's Skirt Abyssal Whip Rune Defender Amulet of Fury Soul Wars Cape Dragon Boots Barrows Gloves Berserker Ring I already plan on replacing the defender with mind shield -- anything else would be suicide. Will proselyte give enough defence, or will I need something like Torag's plate (I plan on pietying the entire task and have 93 defence)? Also, will a tortoise of monkfish and an EE be enough to fill up on bones and other drops, or will I need more healing than that? Rough estimates are fine, I just need somewhere to start on equipment for this task.
  13. You shouldn't have too much trouble -- I did it with slightly higher levels. If you have full void melee and zamorakian spear, you're a long way towards winning the battle. With those, a BGS, tortoise full of brews, and a mix of brews and restores in your inventory, Nomad shouldn't be too bad. I almost killed him without a BGS, and once I bought one and hit 57 with the spec, he fell easily. Be sure to use the spear on stab, as he's weak to stab attacks. Also, read up a bit about the fight -- you can avoid most of his attacks, which will save you a ton of health.
  14. Also, Kuradal's tasks are larger than Duradel's -- some of Kuradal's tasks can be as many as 250, meaning more time spent actually slaying as opposed to going back for tasks. It's not a huge difference in time, but I like spending more time on task than between tasks. I wouldn't recommend using a different master once you can use Kuradal -- by the time you get the levels to do her tasks (75 slayer and 110 combat), you'll have no trouble taking down her tasks. Also, her dungeon is simply amazing -- no campers (which can be a problem for abyssal demons, blue, iron, and steel dragons depending on location) and the Ferocious Ring gives +4 to every single hit in the dungeon, which makes it pretty much the best place to kill anything in the dungeon (only exception I can think of is hellhounds, which are better killed with a cannon in Taverly)
  15. Yes, cannon them there. Make sure you have slayer helm/masked earmuffs. You might need to pray against them -- I'm not sure as I've never killed them there, but it's quite likely that you'd need to pray as you'll have a lot of them on you at once.
  16. I personally block hellhounds, but I can definitely see the draw of being able to just range and cannon them in Taverly -- if you have your cannon set up in the right spot, you can just let your cannon fire away and run out on the rare occasion that it drops a decent charm or a clue. Question: does "beginning" in the title mean that this guide is for beginners or that you are just beginning on it? If it's the second, take it out of the title, as the fact that it's in "beginning guides" should tell the story by itself. Also, about the cannon "nerf": I haven't noticed much of a difference -- in multi-combat when you're being swamped, there's almost no difference as it would just fire at a different NPC rather than firing backwards -- in non-multi, most of the time that I use that is when safespotting so it can attack anything anyway, so I don't really see a difference there either. It will slow you down, yes, but it's not as much as people are making it out to be from my observations.
  17. Before I say anything else, use normal colors unless you absolutely NEED to use something else. 1) The deflect curses drain at the same rate as protect prayers. Turmoil drains slower than piety. Protect item is the same. The others have different enough effects that they're not that directly comparable. 2) No Eagle Eye, but that's the only one used often that is noticeable. 3) Unsure; someone else can probably answer.
  18. Huh, first you say you want a prossy top + fire cape, then you say bandos chestplate + soul wars cape is better (which it is, in every single stat) Or, for the ultra-cheap people (like me), proselyte top+Soul Wars Cape will do wonders for lowering the rate at which you use prayer potions.
  19. I would start around 60, when you can cannon aberrant spectres. Those can actually pay for the cannonballs and prayer potions that you need in order to cannon them. The only negative part is that you need the slayer helmet to cannon them, but they can help pay for other tasks that you cannon.
  20. I love slayer, use a cannon, and don't see why this is such a big deal. For black demons, just range them from a safespot with the cannon and the speed goes way back up, only difficult part is loading the cannon up in a way that you don't get hit. Also, Kalphites are in multi-combat, so I don't see this as having that great of an effect on them.
  21. I think it's worth it, like others here. I use it almost all the time for slayer (no need for any other healing on a lot of tasks and each spec is a decent amount of prayer points, which adds up when using piety) and it's also very useful for TDs and barrows. Really, I see so many uses for it that I can't justify selling it soon.
  22. Kill something while wearing it. The charges will remove themselves as you use the mask.
  23. If you can do the quest, then for any task in which you pray a lot (whether protection prayers or piety), use the Soul Wars Cape. Its +12 prayer bonus is massive -- but I'm not sure how well you'd do in that quest. That's pretty much all I have to say other than what's already been said.
  24. According to your sig you are 4,197,337 exp from 99 defence. That will require you to inflict 1,049,335 damage to achieve your goal. (4,197,337/exp per damage dealt[4]) 1,049,335/4= slayer exp (every 4 damage dealt, you recieve 1 slayer exp) You will recieve (APPROXIMATELY) 262,333.5625 slayer exp on your quest to 99 defence. Add 262,333 to your current slayer exp and see what level that is. No -- the number of slayer xp he'll get is 1,049,335, since for every 4 defence xp he gets, he will get 1 slayer xp.
  25. In general, it's 1 slayer xp:4 combat xp. I said that already.
