  1. With those stats, I'd have to imagine that z spear+turmoil+soul split+yak full of rocktails should make the fight go pretty easily. And once the yak's inventory is empty, the steel titan would probably be able to help significantly -- if you need it at all.
  2. Wow, never noticed this thread before, and it's quite amazing. I love the lore of this game, so anything that gives a large amount of information about it is something that I love reading. Great job with this, great job. I haven't read through all 52 pages (in fact, I only read the last page), so I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but I don't know if Tolna's dungeon has anything to do with the Dragonkin. Consider the proximity to Senntisten, one of the largest Zarosian strongholds, leading me to believe that it's something Zarosian, not something related to the dragonkin.
  3. Since you obviously haven't been before why are you giving advice on them? I have been there and killed thousands of waterfiends -- the only experience I am lacking is not testing whip against dragon mace there. I know they have a high defence against anything that's not crush, I'm just not so sure that even a dragon mace is better than a whip there. Now, if you will please remove your head from your [wagon] on these forums, can we get on with the rest of the topic?
  4. Is a whip really so horrendous here that even a dragon mace beats it? I find that kind of, well, unlikely. But anyway. Definitely want magic defence, so Karil's is the way to go. Pray ranged and bring a decent amount of prayer potions and some food. As for where to go, ancient cavern (where mithril dragons are), go right down the stairs from the whirlpool and run to the west and the little peninsula there or run all the way around to the other side of the water. There are waterfiends in both places.
  5. Since you only have 17 summoning, Guthan's will work until you do get 68 -- though I would put everything (Tears of Guthix, xp lamps, any other rewards) towards summoning until you get it. It will change how you slay completely. Also, buy the things you haven't crossed off, as they're needed for waterfiend tasks, which are one of the best charm droppers in the game. About 80% of their drops are crimson charms, which is immensely helpful for training summoning. Also, once you get 75 slayer (I'm assuming you'll have 110 combat by then), switch to Kuradal. Her tasks are much longer, but it allows much more time spent on task. The Ferocious Ring is also a massive help, both for fighting within her dungeon and getting to Kuradal quickly to get a new task.
  6. You do need to suck it up and stick with it -- the profit isn't that great until higher levels, when you have 1) access to better monsters and 2) higher stats that allow you to power through tasks faster. As for tasks to cannon, looking at Duradel's list, I see Aberrant Spectres, Bloodveld (mutated bloodvelds after Legacy of Seergaze), Black Demons, Dagannoths, Fire Giants (use cannon and melee in Waterfall), Hellhounds in Taverly, Kalphites, Scabarites, and Suqahs. You don't need to use cannon on all of those, but it speeds up slaying so much that it's hard to argue against using it. Also, if you're not, you really need to use super sets (attack, strength, and use defence on most tasks -- some don't hit hard enough to justify it, though) -- the boost to speed is worth it. Those potions are cheap.
  7. Okay, this is mostly copy-pasted from what I posted in another thread, but I'll try to make it as relevant as possible. Equipment: Slayer Helm/Black Mask -- a must. If you cannot get this, do not slay. The black mask alone will work fine until you get enough points for the helm. Fire Cape/Soul Wars Cape -- the only two that I ever use on melee tasks, though really, just about any cape will do. Torag's Platebody -- good defence, cheap, repairs aren't that expensive Verac's Skirt -- good defence, prayer bonus, no real reason to not use this Dragon Boots, Barrows Gloves -- best overall gloves and best melee boots Abyssal Whip -- see the note next to slayer helm Rune Defender -- see note next to slayer helm Berserker Ring -- +4 strength is a great help, but warrior ring is a decent choice if you can't afford a berserker. If you use Kuradal, Ferocious Ring is a must within her dungeon. Amulet of Fury -- Best amulet for, well, pretty much everything Karil's Top and Skirt -- for when you need magic defence Cannon and cannonballs -- for powering through some tasks. It's expensive, but a huge boost in speed Zamorakian Spear -- for Waterfiend tasks Full Proselyte -- For whenever you need to use prayers (protection prayer or piety) What are your stats? You'll really want 68 summoning for bunyip -- that makes Guthan's pretty much obsolete. The above is all equipment you'll want for serious slaying. Give me some more information and I should be able to help you more.
  8. With herbs, it's better to sell them and make other potions that are more efficient. Now onto the next point. Slayer is horrible when it comes to instant gratification. It's something that don't really pay off unless you're willing to put a lot of time into it, so I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for. You'll need a relatively large investment to be able to slay at a high rate, and there are times where you will lose money in the short term, but overall it is a money making skill. For example, you could get a dagannoth task followed by a black demon task, both of which are best done with a cannon, and lose a large amount of money between those two tasks, but then get a blue dragon task, which will probably pay for all the cannonballs you just used on those tasks. It requires patience and a bit of luck. Now, if you want a setup... Slayer Helm/Black Mask -- a must. If you cannot get this, do not slay. The black mask alone will work fine until you get enough points for the helm. Fire Cape/Soul Wars Cape -- the only two that I ever use on melee tasks, though really, just about any cape will do. Torag's Platebody -- good defence, cheap, repairs aren't that expensive Verac's Skirt -- good defence, prayer bonus, no real reason to not use this Dragon Boots, Barrows Gloves -- best overall gloves and best melee boots Abyssal Whip -- see the note next to slayer helm Rune Defender -- see note next to slayer helm Berserker Ring -- +4 strength is a great help, but warrior ring is a decent choice if you can't afford a berserker Amulet of Fury -- I don't know what the market for this is like, so get this if you can, if not just use a glory That will work on 90% of tasks. Other things you'd want: Karil's Top and Skirt -- for when you need magic defence Cannon and cannonballs -- for powering through some tasks. It's expensive, but a huge boost in speed Zamorakian Spear -- for Waterfiend tasks Guthan's is not recommended -- since you have 68 summoning, you won't need Guthan's -- bunyip will work much better. If you have more questions, ask -- I'll be able to answer in the morning, or maybe someone else can answer for me in the meantime. EDIT: http://forum.tip.it/topic/254632-daily-activities/ -- guide to daily activities -- not all of them are necessary and some of them aren't really worth the time.
  9. Thanks for the quick answers -- the task went by no problem. As for the food thing, SGS+bunyip was way more than enough healing -- in fact, I think it's possible to do the task with SGS alone, like many others.
  10. 1) Herb runs (see this guide: http://forum.tip.it/topic/242787-mother-gaia-an-in-depth-manual-to-farming/) 2) Do as much of the Varrock Achievement Diary as you can and then buy battlestaves daily 3) Buy unfinished broad bolts from slayer masters http://www.runescoop.com/html/rs_TheRuneScoopDynamicMoneymakingGuideforRuneScape.htm Amazing moneymaking guide -- do whatever in there strikes you as a good idea at the time. But seriously, the three things listed first can make a ton of money daily -- probably over a million per day, depending on how many herb runs you can get in a day. They also usually take less than an hour of time actively playing.
  11. 1) Since gargoyles are weak to crush, is it worth it to use Zamorakian Spear over Whip? 2) Kuradal's Dungeon with Ferocious Ring or Chaos Tunnels with combat familiar? (Best I have right now is obsidian golem) Haven't done a task of these in a while, so I'm not sure how best to do this task. If it makes any difference, I plan on using piety throughout the task.
  12. Other than making a couple thousand potions during the event, I don't plan on doing much specifically for it. I'll let the whole world get worked up into a frenzy while I just play how I normally do -- doing whatever I feel like at the moment. It's not that big of a deal -- everyone gets the faster xp, either you use it or you don't, get off your high horse and play the game as it goes.
  13. Well, since you want to smith and mine, knock out two birds with one stone: get a ton of nature runes and superheat gold while you mine. That seems like the best idea given your current goals, assuming that you won't change your mind from those three. Just make sure that you have goldsmithing gauntlets and go wild. Superheating doesn't slow down your mining, so you can get the boost in mining and smithing at the same time, along with some magic xp.
  14. Well, finally reached the milestone of 2000 total level. Spring break starts tomorrow although I have already checked out of school in my mind. No idea what I'll spend spring break doing, as I'll probably be home alone most of the time (I hope, I need a break from school). And that's all I have to say for now.
  15. I would also use fast throwing weapons (darts/knives) on greaters, hellhounds, and blue dragons in Kuradal's dungeon with the ferocious ring if you need more ranged xp. If you do a serious amount of slaying, you'll want to raise ranged as well as melee stats so you don't end with something like 95 ranged and 15 million xp in each melee stat. But most things should be killed using whip on controlled. It's the best overall way to raise combat.
  16. I remember reading in Zarfot's guide that he estimated 40m if you piety and cannon every task and 80m if you use superhuman strength and cannon every task. I don't think that estimate included slayer points, and also consider that the Soul Wars Cape, Kuradal and her dungeon, and some other updates have been made since then that might change that number, whether slightly or significantly.
  17. 223 Höllendämon: 1 Abyssal Whip 2 Ferocious Rings 2 Abyssal Heads I was really surprised by the 2 abyssal heads, which were within about 10 or so kills. I couldn't believe my luck.
  18. Also, most of the Mahjarrat are pathetic when it comes to melee combat -- Lucien has next to no ability to fight physically (I believe that one NPC called his attempts to use a sword "laughable"), and I would guess that most of the Mahjarrat are the same. They seem to rely too much on magic for the curses to be all based on melee. Then again, it could be argued that the curses are melee based because Zaros's followers were so inept and needed the help.
  19. Get 70 prayer for piety and 68 summoning for a bunyip, don't bother with the godsword or DFS, barrows armour is still perfect for tasks (I use Torag's Plate and Verac's Skirt for tasks that I don't need too much prayer on), make sure you have a whip and defender, and buy a black mask. As soon as possible, make the slayer helmet -- it is the greatest piece of slaying equipment you could possibly have. Buy a berserker ring and a cannon and about 10k cannonballs, buying more as needed. Don't forget dragon boots and barrows gloves. An amulet of fury is really difficult to get right now, so a glory should work. This shouldn't eat up too much money (no more than half the money you say you have), so use some of the rest to buy super sets and other potions and food you might need. I know what I said was kind of scattered, but it works. There's a lot you need for slayer, but it doesn't all have to be expensive. Also, as soon as possible (110 combat and 75 slayer), use Kuradal. She is, without a doubt in my mind, the best slayer master to use.
  20. Those are too much, really. You can do well enough with diamond (e), though I swear by using emerald (e) bolts -- they made that fight almost ridiculously easy. Anything above diamond is just unnecessary.
  21. What kind of darts would be the most effective? And I don't mean dragon darts -- obviously they would be the fastest, but a nice balance of cost and speed would work. Would I need to go as high as rune, or would lower darts work?
  22. Okay, since the ferocious ring gives +4 to every hit, ranging in Kuradal's dungeon with a really fast weapon would be, I think, pretty good ranged xp for some monsters (greaters, blue dragons, maybe hellhounds should I ever decide to unblock them), but I'm just not sure what to use. Which ranged weapons would give the best xp without costing an arm and a leg? On a tangentially related note, how high is the street price of the focus sight and hexcrest, and does anyone have any idea when they might become buyable in the GE?
  23. Well, try what Wooox16 does here: In case you can't tell: D claws with turmoil and soul split, using Vengeance twice in a row, then switching to whip.
  24. Here is the thread I was talking to you about in game. Posts 6-9 are about the superheating method, which can be done at the same speed as mining normally, just with magic and smithing xp as well.
  25. Well, if you have 2 hours, log on, do a herb run immediately, kill bork, buy and resell broad bolts and battlestaves and maybe a few more things (see the guide linked to up there), do just about anything else, then just before you log out, do another herb run. As for the anything else, it obviously needs to be something that is easy to get to and something that you can easily drop when you're done. http://www.runescoop.com/html/rs_MMINDEXMASTER.htm One of the best moneymaking guides that I've found. Look around there for something good to do in that time.
