  1. So we are scum because we choose to use an advantage that Jagex provided us, not to mention the money that we shell out to actually buy this advantage? Ignore the idiots. If we pay the money for it, we deserve the advantage that it gives. That is all. People are using it... because it's effective? It's fast, the drops pay for the cannonballs and then some? That's the way it works.
  2. Ideal conditions, you can make more than 1m per hour fletching broad bolts, gaining 180k xp at the same time. That, however, is difficult to do at full speed, but it can still be a good source of money. Also can easily be combined with other activities, such as running laps on an agility course.
  3. They're a pretty good option, but I've noticed that combat potions are actually slightly more efficient right now. If you want a little extra speed, then go ahead and go with those, but I've managed 81-83 herblore with ~10m, which is quite cheap. It's also not that slow, but if you want a little better speed, go with super energies. And once you get the levels to make extremes, make them -- they're not that expensive (relatively) and they're really useful. Really, herblore is such a mess of possibilities that there are almost a billion ways to train it (it seems).
  4. Look at the herblore spreadsheet in the guide that I linked to earlier -- it is a pretty in depth look at the costs of pretty much every method you can think of to get herblore xp. Read how the spreadsheets are laid out and what each column means. Keep in mind that some methods aren't all that viable -- cleaning herbs is hit and miss, but I recommend you always try to see if that will work. Mixes are even more hit and miss, but it's also entirely possible to train using them if you have a lot of patience (they don't sell well, but with a few, you'll make a profit even selling for minimum). Also, it's pretty much impossible to get unfinished wergali or unfinished torstol potions, so those aren't good ways to level up either.
  5. Blessed or regular is kind of up in the air -- I use a regular one because I didn't feel like buying a blessed one, felt like I had better uses for the 6m, so I wouldn't do it unless you don't have much else you can upgrade. As for SGS/claws, you don't really need either, and though I love the SGS to death, you don't really need it -- claws are a really good spec weapon anyway, but I'd just see if you have enough left for them after you get herblore levels. As for herblore, I see that Morionic is reading this topic, so I'll just let him tell you. As for TDs, it's possible with your stats, it's just not that efficient with 90+ stats and a unicorn -- at that point, they become pretty simple to kill. You can still kill them, however.
  6. Well, if you want to range any tasks, I would recommend Armadyl chest and skirt, unholy book/blessed spirit shield (depending on if you're tanking or safespotting), and both a rune crossbow with broad bolts and a large stash of rune darts (use on tasks in Kuradal's Dungeon). The only task that I think is worth maging is Ice Strykewyrms, but since both of us are too low level to kill them, that's a different topic. You'll also need a spec weapon, which I forgot to mention -- DDS, Enchanted Excalibur, Dragon Claws, and Saradomin Godsword are the best spec weapons, though which you'll use depends on the task. If you have all of that, then I don't know how much I'd be able to help you.
  7. http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-reference-spreadsheets/ Check out this guide for the most efficient ways to raise those levels. Most people shoot for about 88 herblore (extreme attack and strength with greenman's ale), while others shoot for 96 (overloads). I don't know if you'd manage either even if you put all your money towards herblore -- it can be really expensive unless you level up by cleaning herbs, which can be difficult to do due to the market (and it can be a pain for your wrists). Prayer is pretty obviously dragon bones on a gilded altar unless you can't really make money quickly. Most people shoot for 95 for turmoil and soul split -- though, unless you're willing to go that far, you don't need much over 70 for piety. Just noticed the slayer part of your post -- I'm working on editing that in at the moment. If you're willing to go into slayer, here's the gist of what you'll need: Black mask -- later replaced by slayer helm once you have the points. If you range/mage any tasks, get focus sight and hexcrest for the full slayer helm Verac's Skirt -- defence is pretty much the same as other barrows legs and it has a prayer bonus -- is very valuable if you use piety/other boosting prayers. If you use protection prayers, however, use proselyte legs. Other barrows piece -- another barrows piece for the chest armour -- brassard's defence is too low to justify using it Proselyte Plate -- Proselyte Plate+Verac's Skirt+Piety=enough defence for most tasks, and you save a ton on prayer potions over a different plate armour. Dragon boots, Barrows Gloves -- best for the respective slots for melee Rune defender -- the added accuracy far outweighs any defence bonuses from shields -- only exception would be when ranging or using an antifire shield/DFS (I don't recommend buying one of these) for dragons Abyssal Whip -- best general purpose weapon in the game for 5 years in a row Amulet of Fury -- I'm not sure how easy it still is to get these, so in case you can't, amulet of glory is best Soul Wars Cape/Fire Cape -- I much prefer the soul wars cape, but in case you can't beat Nomad, fire cape works too. If you must, obsidian cape is possible. Berzerker Ring -- use this on tasks when you hit pretty much every time. If you need more accuracy, then use warrior ring. That covers the most commonly used items. Your average task will probably use those items. As for other things you might need: Karil's Leathertop and Leatherskirt -- good for anything that uses a magic attack. Will probably be used most against waterfiends. Zamorakian Spear -- crush weapon for waterfiends. If you have a Saradomin Sword, then that edges it out slightly, but if you have neither, Zamorakian Spear is cheaper and the difference isn't that notable. Zamorak Robe Bottoms -- Treasure Trail reward that is very useful when killing spiritual mages -- 1 prayer bonus less than proselyte legs, but counts as a Zamorak item Cannon and cannonballs -- a ton of tasks are greatly sped up by this -- I'd have to look at the task list again to see all of them, but the most notable are bloodvelds, dagannoths, aberrant spectres, and suqahs Combat boosting potions -- prayer potions, super sets, ranging potions -- you'll need a ton of potions for slayer, otherwise your tasks will be pretty slow. There's not a single task that I don't use super sets on in some form or another, and I use prayer potions on most of them, so they're really advantageous. That's all that I can think of at the moment.
  8. If it was mine, the money would go into herblore and prayer. That's what I'd do with it, but I'm mostly a slayer, not a skiller.
  9. Well, what do you usually do with your time? That would be the best way for us to know what we should tell you.
  10. Spec restores seem to be more useful than I had expected. I have an SGS, so I'm pretty sure that I can get pretty good use out of them -- might also lower the number of prayer potions which I'll need to use on tasks (I piety a good number of tasks), so that can only be a good thing. As for the super antifires, I'll have to play that one by ear, it seems. I like fighting dragons when not on task, so I'll have to see just how many of them I end up using.
  11. I'm closing in on 84 herblore (83 at the moment), so I was wondering if it would be worth it to make special restore potions from 84 to 85. I would take ~1.5k to get to that level if I did the math right. I mostly do slayer along with some solo boss hunting (TDs and occasionally solo GWD), so would it be worth it to make those special restore potions? Would I end up using most/all of them? And what would be the best way to integrate them into my slayer training/boss hunting? Also, would it be worth it to go from 85-86 making super antifires? Would I end up using enough of them to justify an entire level (again, ~1.5k) of leveling using them, or should I make a smaller amount and then do the rest of the leveling using something else?
  12. I couldn't say it better :) I never liked dragon anyway, and barrows is cheaper than d plate/chain + it has way better def (torag plate & legs has highest melee def) If you repair at your playerowned house it's cheapest. I do it everytime my armor reaches 25. The higher your smithing level, the cheaper the repairs are! :) Good luck! Agreed =] Also, Dharoks Pl8 + Legs, Torag Pl8 + Legs have the same defence. Verac Skirt and Torag/Dh legs have same defence with the exception V skirt has 0 negative mage def to the -4 of torag legs and t legs have 92 range defence to V skirt's 84. And Verac's skirt has a +3 prayer bonus, making it invaluable whenever you decide to use boosting prayers while not using protection prayers -- in fact, Proselyte Plate with Verac's skirt is one of the best outfits to use for slayer if you use piety on tasks.
  13. Reading through the patch notes reminds me of how much I like Jagex's sense of humor. Also, I am intrigued.
  14. They increase the yield by 10%. (This next part I'm not 100% sure on) I think that means it has a 10% chance, every herb you pick, of giving another. If it just meant that it gives you one extra herb per 10, then it wouldn't make a difference since it's rare to get 10 herbs from one patch at once, so I think it works off of probability, like everything else in RuneScape.
  15. Slayer is slow, but I love training it, so that takes care of slayer and all combat (except magic). Summoning is fast xp and I never have to worry about charms -- after getting 89 on xp weekend, I don't see the need to level up in increments until I get the charms for 99. So that's out. Mining isn't bad -- superheating concentrated gold gives really good mining, smithing, and magic xp, plus it's fun being in mining golds. Gets rid of those three skills. Crafting and construction are made faster/cheaper by skill-only SC, so those are out even though the cost is high. Herblore and Prayer are too rewarding and too easy to do in small doses to be that bad. Runecrafting is too much money and it's fun trying to go as fast as I possibly can. I actually really enjoy runecrafting via the abyss, so I just mix that up with graahk and ZMI runecrafting for a good balance of money and xp. Cooking is too cheap and fast to really be tedious. Agility and fletching go hand in hand (fletch bolts while running laps), plus it makes a profit. Thieving is ridiculously fast, farming is "set it and forget it". Fishing and woodcutting are really easy to just not pay attention to and still get xp (I sometimes play Guitar Hero while fishing and it barely slows me down). That leaves firemaking and hunter. I actually kind of enjoy training both now, but I'd have to say that Hunter is the more frustrating to me. I know it's really fast and can also be good money at high levels, but it's too difficult to ever get a good spot when hunting chinchompas. All the world hopping and having to deal with other people is what makes it tedious to me.
  16. My reason for Zamorakian Spear over Saradomin Sword is that I can think of much better uses for 9 million than an item that I would only use for one slayer task. The spear just has more potential uses, since stab weakness is more common than crush weakness, and it's cheaper. I'm sure that SS is better for waterfiends, but the difference isn't worth tying up 9 million in that weapon for just the one task (yes, I know the gargoyles thing, but there seems to be a similar case there -- between super pots and piety, the difference between whip and SS is much smaller).
  17. 14 brews in tortoise? Why not 18? As for the accumulator, since you're using ranged, I'd just go with it, buying some extras in the (likely) case that you die. As for the spec weapon, I would say that BGS knocks the claws out of the water. The drop in his defence is staggering (assuming that you get a good hit) and you need it. I managed nearly 300 damage (old system, so 3000 now) before I had to heal once thanks to a huge (57) BGS spec when the fight started. He melts like butter with a good spec, while the Claws just give you some extra damage at that moment -- only reason I think it'd be necessary is if you already have a good chance of getting to the final, berserker stage and just want to end that as soon as possible. Void is a great help there since you have no chance of losing it when you die and your defence is pretty much negligible in the first place. Now, here's the disclaimer: I killed Nomad with melee with my melee stats being 93 across the board, so I know next to nothing about ranging him (I used Diamond bolts before the -1 attack when he had me frozen, but that was it) and my method was more geared towards melee. I still think that I'm correct, I just don't have any experience with killing him using ranged.
  18. I use it since, even though I use swiftkit, I usually have the extra features minimized to keep the window as small as possible. I keep details about summoning familiars there (the ones I actually use), along with the info to calculate how much slayer xp I'll have at the end of a task and a bunch of other random information like that. I don't use it overly often, but I use it often enough.
  19. I believe in zarfot's guide he stated that SS is like 10% faster then whip at gargs, also if you have super antifires go with controled+ZS. He never says exactly what the speed difference is, but he says that either SS or godsword is faster than a whip. However, that was before Kuradal's Dungeon, and the ferocious ring evens out the playing field a bit -- I still think SS would be better, but I think that the +40 puts whip above godsword mostly due to the speed.
  20. I think that anything released in the future should be solo-able (mainly because I don't like having to get a team together, I will admit), but make it difficult like corp to solo. Make it take one person with pretty much every weapon at their disposal to have a hope of getting it down (insanely high defence so SWH is pretty much needed, a ton of hp, a high DPS rate, etc), but make it possible. I don't think that having a boss that is possible to solo is a bad thing -- just make it difficult. Really, I think something like Nomad, just not as predictable. Vary his attacks a bit -- for example, the mine attack will not necessarily be right before the 75 damage attack. And when he does use the 75 damage attack, he gives almost no warning so you can just barely get behind the pillar in time, if you even can (depending on your placement in the room). That would be going in the right direction.
  21. I'm .01% more sure than Daxter -- it does affect magic and ranged.
  22. (This isn't any type of post about an accomplishment -- instead, this is more of a "blog about your thoughts" post. Also, everything that I say here (and any future blog posts about boss hunting, unless otherwise specified) refers specifically to soloing bosses -- I haven't killed bosses in a team since sometime shortly after the release of coinshare and I much prefer soloing anyway.) Since I got 89 summoning, I have been living down in the Ancient Guthix Temple, killing Tormented Demons (when I have had the time -- don't have that much, being a college student). They are a perfectly done boss monster -- not hellishly difficult to kill solo (like corp or some of the GWD bosses without really high levels), but unless you know exactly what you're doing, you're going to be toast. However, that makes something else happen -- the biggest danger and most difficult part of killing Tormented Demons: other people. Tormented Demons are notorious for being really good money -- if you can manage ~25 kills per hour (which isn't overly difficult once you get good at weapon and prayer switching), you can make an average of about 3 million per hour (and I mean average -- it takes a large amount of time and all the money is from one relatively rare drop), and with really high levels, it's even possible to kill more than 50 an hour, for an average of around 6 million or more an hour (method shouldn't be that difficult to figure out). Of course, since Tormented Demons are practically made of money, or, to be more accurate, you will be if you spend enough time killing them, people are all over them. Even the servers with the least people are often full. I mostly play at late hours (anywhere from 9 to midnight EST on average), but there are still people there. Even if I find a world with no one there, you can bet that within 30 minutes, a white dot will run right towards me. This is where I get to my main point. I'm not known for liking people much, and this place doesn't do much for my faith in humanity. Etiquette is usually lacking, so if people run over to me, I know that they're going to start killing one of the three demons that I have lured (they're there so they won't pile me, as soon as you kill it it's going to cause a problem) 95% of the time. They're usually also 138s who have no manners, so I can't even fight them for the kill -- I'd just lose. Those people aren't the big problem. I'm fine with them -- there are usually enough low population worlds to hop to, and that's a matter of simple etiquette. I can see why people crash -- there aren't many worlds that are open. It's also consistent with Jagex's stance, which roughly says "Get bigger or get out". I fight the battles that I think I can win, but there are almost none of those down there, even though I'm level 129. The problem are the ones who can't beat me: the lurers. Back when I had just finished While Guthix Sleeps, I tried to kill some tormented demons using a war tortoise full of sharks -- it worked well enough. My second trip down there, however, someone came in and lured the demons that I had put neatly into place over to me so that I was piled. I tried moving around so that I could fight just one, but he kept pulling that demon over until I was in a situation I couldn't escape except by teleporting and was killed. I got back in time to get all my items back, yes, but it is still unnecessary. Is this what is meant by "Get bigger or get out"? I seriously doubt it. But what can be done about it? I'm just supposed to leave or die because some jackass comes in and decides that I'm in the way, without even attempting a fair fight? I just have to roll over and take it? I can't get bigger and make him get out -- I either have to get out or stoop to his level.
  23. Mazchna would be fastest for points, though I do feel like that's missing the point of slayer, it is the fastest slayer points that you can get.
  24. With what stats and method, though? Soloing there can be 10m+ an hour with pretty much everything maxed out, but each level less than that takes a huge hit (especially if you don't have overloads/steel titan/high prayer/etc.)
