  1. Actually, I see the price of elysian/divine going up because of the new skill. The best stab weapon in the game (rapier or longsword, not sure which yet) is one-handed, meaning that a divine/elysian can be used while killing corp. I see this leading to it being (almost) easy to solo 2 corps in one trip (already is possible now, but this will make it easier), probably leading to more people trying it, and therefore more people wanting a divine/elysian. Yes? No?
  2. Well, whichever of the two stab weapons ends up being better (rapier or longsword), I suddenly see the idea of soloing corp becoming a bit more popular. Which will drive up the street price of the divine shield. Then again, if the shields are anywhere near powerful enough, that might hold the price of the divine in check somewhat, though I doubt that they are. I'm kind of interested to know what this is going to do to the economy. Maybe I'll check the other thread about that.
  3. I don't think hydras really have a melee weakness (they seem to be strong against all types) seeing as they're mage-based and the combat triangle is really exaggerated in there. Also, it seems that the icefiends are just resistant to slash, as stab seems to absolutely destroy them. However, I'm not 100% sure on that as I haven't really tested crush on them.
  4. Yes, you'll face it, but there will be just one corpse.
  5. I would like to be able to bind more items as well, but the thing about binding items is that too many and it's borderline on overpowered. I haven't had trouble killing anything yet using just a Katagon Longsword or Katagon arrows, both of which I obtained in the first dungeon. Imagine how easy it would become if you could get a 99 smithing friend to make you a set of promethium and you could bind the entire set, never having to welfare, so to speak (I still find it easy enough using just what I can scavenge/make, but I'm only level 10, so what do I know?) What they do need to do, though, is allow you to log out in the middle of a raid and log back in without forcing you to start a different one -- it takes a while to do a dungeon solo and the ability to come and go as you please (one large aspect to RuneScape) would be very welcome -- I'm sure it would be especially so at higher levels. EDIT: How do you toggle the dungeon size? I haven't the slightest clue and want to see if there's a difference in a medium sized dungeon.
  6. I like the update -- it's a bit of a headache getting used to all the new armours/weapons and such (entirely new classes of metals is killing my brain cells), but it's quite a bit of fun. I'm enjoying jumping headfirst into it without guides or any sort of help outside of talking to a friend or two about it. I've been waiting for an opportunity to recreate the feeling of new, unexplored territory, and this is definitely it for me.
  7. Gear is important up to a point, and that point tends to be around Barrows. Anything more expensive and you run into diminishing returns -- for example, buying Armadyl chestplate over Karil's Leathertop, you're paying ~14m extra for +3 ranged attack bonus and between 5 and 10 added to the defence bonuses. Once you have barrows/whip/defender/glory/dragon boots/barrows gloves/similar items, you have to start hemorrhaging money for small bonuses. If you're looking at what gear you'll need: Slayer helm Whip Rune Defender Barrows plate Verac's Skirt (or other barrows legs if you never use stat boosting prayers) Barrows Gloves Dragon Boots Warrior Ring Amulet of Glory Soul Wars Cape/Fire Cape/Ardougne Cape/Obsidian Cape (lowest I would go, but I really recommend getting one of the others) Karil's Leathertop Karil's Leatherskirt Zamorakian Spear It is possible to get away with less -- I know that I have in the past -- but once you have those items, stats and potions become more important. Sure, Bandos and DFS have their uses, but they cost a ton for a rather marginal benefit. I hope that made sense.
  8. I seem to recall that the general rule is 200 crimsons/1k bursts. I would lower that slightly because of how low your magic is, however. A pure guess would be 180ish. However, the staff of light will both increase damage and save you some runes, so I'm not sure exactly what numbers you'll end up with. From there, you should be able to figure out about how much it's going to cost.
  9. XP rates are low and pretty much negligible.
  10. The only method there that confuses me is construction -- how would you get that many long bones?
  11. That's kind of what I expected. I kind of want to know what all the methods you assumed were being used, mostly curiosity on my part.
  12. Unfinished potions can be a really good moneymaker (~2m or so an hour, depending on the market). As with everything herblore related, after you check the prices, do a test transaction (buy 1 herb and vial, sell the unfinished potion) to see how close it is to the median price -- herblore supplies are rarely traded right at the median, so just do tests like that to make sure. After that, then you can put in your offer for more. It's a much better source of money than you'd think at first. Also, if you want to mix in a bit of herblore xp as well, you can buy grimy herbs, clean them, then make unfinished potions out of them. However, if you just want the cash, just make the unfinished potions.
  13. Well, that is ~60x the current limit on cash, so it would be a hell of an accomplishment to get anywhere near that. It's definitely possible to get 200m in all skills, though slayer and runecrafting will be the biggest obstacles. The positive to slayer is that it's entirely possible to max out 6 other stats on the way, and the positive of runecrafting is the insane amount of money you'll make on the way, but someone going for 200m in everything probably has more money than they'll ever need. I think Zarfot has that as a possible goal. I'm not saying that Gertjaars can't or anything, but I would put my money on Zarfot because of his insane combination of efficiency and dedication. EDIT: Out of curiosity, what method did you assume was used to train smithing and magic?
  14. According to what I've read, no method of reflecting damage (deflect prayers, vengeance, ring of recoil) work on Nomad (read this on RS wiki). I would think that's the case because otherwise it would be too easy to just pummel him with his own damage.
  15. As long as you don't go below about -20 magic attack bonus, you should be fine with barrows. Going any lower isn't good -- you need some accuracy.
  16. MAGIC BONUS DOES AFFECT MAGIC DART (CALLED SLAYER DART BY EVERYONE HERE) LIKE IT DOES EVERY OTHER SPELL! PEOPLE JUST NEVER NOTICE BECAUSE THE BARROWS BROTHERS' MAGIC DEFENCE SUCKS! There, got that off my chest. I don't really see a reason you'd need to use lunar armour or the rune plate in the future. I think you should get rid of those, at the least. Not too sure what to do about the rest.
  17. No, it wasn't hidden, it was in the patch notes. Although, a hidden update like that would be pretty evil on Jagex's part.
  18. As for merchanting, what you do is find items that are often traded and are relatively stable (small fluctuations of a couple percent are fine), put in an offer below mid and WAIT (the most important part) until they've all bought, put it back in above mid (I put it in the same amount above mid), then wait for the 4 hour limit to finish. With 30m starting cash, you should be able to make ~1.5m a day off of flipping (this type of merchanting), not including any other money making methods.
  19. Even better (but most people can't use this) is a touchscreen -- I'm pretty sure that I could manage more than that an hour with my touchscreen (I was managing 7.5k doing it relatively slowly), I just never have enough herbs at a time to test more than 10 minutes or so, which isn't really a representative sample.
  20. 21. I know there's one in the general area of the duel arena. I ran across it right outside the gate to the duel arena, but it's been seen as far north as the mine in Al-Kharid, so you might have to look around a bit.
  22. For cleaning herbs, the best way to find out is to do test buys and sells with one herb at a time and seeing what will buy/sell for a profit/small loss. Median prices don't really tell you much. http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-reference-spreadsheets/ -- use the herblore spreadsheet on this page to tell you the best potions to make. As with the herbs, do test buys first to make sure that it'll work.
  23. Okay, let's say that someone was to attempt to answer this by counting the damage done per hit, to eliminate the problem of stopping a stopwatch at just the right moment. About how much testing would be required in order to come to a conclusive conclusion? (redundancy, yes I know that it's redundant)
  24. HP Touchsmart Laptop -- I have no specific setup for gaming except that I always have a TV right behind or just to my left while playing RS (even though it's not always on) to make it easier to multitask various tasks. Also, touchscreen>mouse for any skilling that involves a ton of clicking (as long as there's little right clicking needed).
  25. As for the time thing, you can manage about a full hour there using SGS/sharks/extreme potions (from hearsay), which is 45-50 kills, easily making up for the shorter trip lengths.
