A couple days old, but I got lazy and forgot to upload it. This skill is draining all my money, but I don't care. It's also amazingly fast xp; I got from 51-54 in about a half hour and only stopped because I ran out of planks. I'm currently getting more so I can remove more and more money from the economy. Other than that, not much is happening.

What are good Monsters that drop nature runes?
Mischlings replied to Maddavy2004's topic in Help and Advice
I seem to remember from my slayer experience that basilisks drop a lot of nature runes; using bones to peaches, I'd still always leave with significantly more natures than I went in with. -
If you buy a new bow, it does NOT count as a recharge. You still have to pay 900k to recharge it the first time.

rune ores cant be mined fast eunaugh to influence the price of furys- there are about 6 rune rocks in rs and the spawnrate is 12 minutes- with about 40 servers thats less than 3k rune ores an hour max- not even near eunaugh. Exactly, because there isn't enough Rocks in the game to boost it up enough. There are 7 rune rocks in the game (2 level 46 Wilderness, 2 Heroes' Guild, Lava Maze, Dark Beasts, and Neitiznot), 63 members worlds (including the German server), and 77 free worlds (with 2 rocks each). That adds up to 595 total ores, and at max respawn rate across all worlds (2000 users, 12 minute respawn), 2975 ores per hour can be mined at the maximum. If Kill_Thomas9's numbers are correct (I'm not doubting you, I just can't test it), that means at the most, there will be 10 more furies coming into the game per hour. I would guess that it's about 1/4 that rate due to the fact that not all worlds have 2000 people on all the time; also, dark beasts and lava maze are usually unmined, and quite a few ores are actually used to be sold and smithed, so I'd guess that at the maximum, there's 1 coming into the economy per hour due to rune ores. One fury per hour can't make a big difference, at least, I can't see how it could. If anyone wants to prove me wrong, feel free to. The rune ore price isn't what is causing the crash, It's all the obby items now sell for more tokkul with the gloves. So fury and onyx prices are crashing because It only cost about 2.5-3 mil using capes or muals to buy an onyx plus 25k for a crafting service. IF you've noticed Mual prices have doubled I don't follow the market for obsidian items since I don't buy or sell them, but I was simply proving that selling rune ores for a fury isn't causing the crash in prices. I would debate whether or not obsidian items were causing it (which I'm sure they are) if I knew enough about them and the market for them to have a good debate. Either way, I know that's the reason, I was just trying to show taht rune ores aren't the reason.

I was thinking of making a guide on the exact same topic. I agree that that's the way to do barrows; makes it a true game. I want to see this guide and try to help in any way that I can. Any idea exactly when you're going to make this guide?

Is there a plan I told you of that I don't remember? The only one I remember telling you was that I planned on getting a fire cape. Did I totally forget something here? I haven't managed to attempt a second time yet, mainly because I haven't been able to get enough time to myself. I've been able to get a few Barrows runs in; had an adventure there. Decided to use magic dart, and Verac was nasty to me. I had 22 hp left, tried to eat, but he hit me for 21; luckily, I had a ring of life on and ended up in Falador with all my items on me. I've been killing dragons in the meantime, collecting bones and hoping to make a little profit crafting and alching the hides. Going to use that money for construction and a gilded altar.

Yes, and let me tell you, it is pure madness in there. I tried yesterday and died because 1) I lacked good healing items and 2) I didn't realize there was a 360 there. That was a huge mistake. When I get more time uninterrupted, I'll attempt the caves again. For now, I'm just floating around, doing whatever I feel like.

Best thing for you to do right now is train. You need higher stats to do barrows with anything near efficiency. Never try with less than 59 hitpoints. Dharok's max hit is 58, so unless you have 59 hitpoints, you're asking to die. Go and train slayer. Get it up to 55, training defence. If you're not over 59 hitpoints by then, keep on training combat. Try to get at least 60 defence, too, since you'll get destroyed if you're not praying at your current levels. Go and use magic dart there, starting off praying on everyone, then if you have good defence by then, attempting to kill Guthan, Torag, and/or Ahrim without prayer (I don't recommend taking on Ahrim like that, since with 76 defence, 77 magic, and full Karils, he still beats the crap out of me). Also, if you use Ancients, make sure you have at least 70 magic; 5 seconds freezing from ice rush is so little time you might as well just use slayer dart since it's so much cheaper. Not sure what else I can add. Just check the Archive of Wisdom; there are a lot of helpful guides there.

There's no need for mystic at barrows unless you're using ancients, and since you've never been to Barrows before, I don't recommend it, and in fact, unless you have 70+ mage, it's not worth trying (Ice Rush is worthless). Of course, slayer dart is best for the brothers. When praying, cast in dragonhide, and if you're killing Torag or Guthan without prayer (with 70 defence and rune, they'll barely hit you), rune will work despite the negative magic bonus. If you want to turn a profit, tanking is your friend. Karil, Dharok, and Verac are the most dangerous using slayer dart, so use prayer on them. Torag, Guthan, and Ahrim can be killed without prayer as long as you have the right armour on, although I seem to always have trouble with Ahrim. Do a few runs with relatively cheap equipment, then once you're comfortable, if money is no object, use more and more expensive items until you're like me and carrying 11-12 million worth of equipment to Barrows. Try all styles of Barrows once you can afford them, and above all, find the way you think is most fun and stick with it. As long as you play it smart and don't waste supplies needlessly, you'll almost always turn a profit, even if you're just there to have fun.

First off, you need 55 slayer to use magic dart, so you can't use that method yet (best way to mage barrows on regular magic), so 1) get 59 magic and use fire blast, 2) use earth blast until you get 59 magic for fire blast, or 3) get 55 slayer for magic dart (recommended). Also, I would take maybe 200 magic darts instead of 300; less to lose if you die (just about everyone will die at least once) and you just won't use that many. When I first went barrowing, I had 56 magic and never used more than 150 magic darts maging the melee brothers and Karil, so 200 should be plenty. Don't bring full mystic. A few parts (boots, gloves) are useful, but the rest take up valuable inventory space. You already have dragonhide, and rune is much better for the tunnels (you'll be under constant attack). Bring rune plate and legs instead of mystic, and when you need magic bonus over defence (praying against Karil and Dharok, for example), wear dragonhide since it doesn't have as big of a negative magic attack bonus. Magic shortbow is good, and if you're using mith arrows (I used to), bring 100-150 (I'd bring more at first to see how many you need). Your ranged level is good enough you might be able to get away with 50 if you're doing one run per trip, but try it out first just to see (when I first did barrows, my ranged level was under 50). Go with a few more prayer potions at first until you feel comfortable at barrows, then try killing Torag and Guthan without prayer. With fully charged prayer and a good amount of food, you should be able to do a run with only a couple doses of prayer potion, if any. A lot of people never use any on a run. Also, have a "panic button", a one click teleport so you can escape in case of emergency. A lot of people use an ectophial, but I recommend a house teletablet, especially if you have a decent construction level (something you should put money into for barrowing). With 50 construction and completing Desert Treasure (which I greatly recommend), you can build a Kharyrll Portal, which teleports you to Canifis, quite close to the barrows, and have a chapel and altar, which allows you to recharge your prayer. You probably want to barrow before this, so use the Ectophial at first. For a shield, I recommend using a Broodoo Shield at first if you can get it. It gives a small magic attack bonus along with prayer bonus. If you can't, use anti-fire shield; no negative magic attack. For the tunnels, you'll need a decent melee weapon to get your kill count; some say it's just superstition, but I see little reason to not get 10+ kills (Personally, I get at least 20). A dragon weapon would be recommended, probably DDS; cheap, yet still effective. Food-wise, sharks may be more effective now because they've plummetted greatly in price, but I still like monkfish and lobsters better. Start with sharks, and if you find you have lots of food left over, use something cheaper. I'll sum this up in case you have a short attention span. Equipped: Mystic Hat/Farseer Helm Dragonhide body and legs Amulet of Magic 100 Mithril Arrows Any Cape Air Staff/Slayer Staff Broodoo Shield/Anti-Fire Shield Mystic Boots and Gloves Ring of Life Inventory: 200 Death Runes 800 Mind Runes/800 Earth/1000 Fire (Magic Dart/Earth Blast/Fire Blast) Ectophial/Teletablet Spade (DO NOT FORGET!) 4-5 Prayer Potions Rune Plate and Legs Decent Melee Weapon Rest Sharks/Monks/Lobsters Attack Plan: Wearing dragonhide, kill Dharok (NE) with prayer. If needed, repot; the closer to death he is, the harder he hits. If there's a tunnel, don't go down; go to Karil (South). Pray against range; he will hit you hard and often, no armor seems to stop his attacks. Repot prayer if needed. If tunnel, go to Verac (NW), and if you want to try to use less prayer, don't repot. Just be sure to watch your health (against everyone, but Verac has a lot of potential to kill you). At this point, it doesn't much matter the order you kill the rest in. Pray against them if you feel you need to, but if you wish not to, just watch your health. (Many kill Ahrim without prayer, but he always gives me a ton of trouble). Once you get to the tunnel, if a melee brother is your tunnel, kill using a safespot (Check tip.it's guide); if Ahrim, decide if you want to use prayer or not (whether you're in the chest room or not makes no difference), and if Karil, pot and pray. Get kill count, search chest, and get out. If I missed anything, PM me here about it, since I'm likely to lose track of this thread. Also, check the Archive of Wisdom; there's one thread that shows 5-6 ways to mage barrows on video, which I definitely recommend you watch. Also read Leesters' guide, which has everything you'll ever and never use, and basically read everything barrows related in the AoW. One last thing: feel free to change what I told you. I came up with my current method after about 80 runs, losing 1 million in items, and reading every barrows guide I could find. In the end, it all comes down to this: use what others say as a start, play around with it, and find what works best for you. And who knows? You might find yourself with a fortune from robbing these graves.

Nope; first buyable 99 I want is prayer (which would help), but it's far too expensive for me. Either way, I failed my first attempt and now have to let my blood pressure go back down to 120/80 or whatever's normal from the 200/400 it was before. Also need to wait until I have another 4 hours or so without interruptions. It was fun. Shouldn't, but I have one more chance before I'm pretty much out of money. I did a decent job this time, but a couple stupid moves killed me.

Well, I've changed goals a bit. I've decided to keep it a secret because it's very likely to fail. Zaaps is the only one who knows, and he should be :-# If anyone guesses, I'll be surprised. Tomorrow, I'll tell you what my goal is since I'll have likely poured all my money into it by then. Until then, :-#

That's the way you get items from the Barrows, so I call them Barrows drops, but I'm not really sure what to call this since it's not a barrows item. I just confused myself. Oh well. Barrows rewards? Loot? Treasure? Just a few suggestions  Never seen treasure used to refer to items from barrows, but I've seen the rest. I'll come up with something.

hmm.. interesting, I never checked prices for real, just estimated. so it would be a 3 mil onyx? still cheaper then runes I believe. I'm sorry if I made you lose any money  Sorry, my mistake. It does work, but would take about 232 rune ores. Sounds like it'd take about 5 hours to mine the ore, then (I'd get 250 in that time, but you need to account for the fact that the price goes down a bit). That would make the onyx about 2.75 million, which is still a good amount cheaper. Makes it manageable. At that price, I could afford a fury, though it wouldn't likely be my first purchase with that money. And if you say it's not worth it; if you can mine rune, it might be a better way to use the ore. Immediate results (selling to a shop) and although I don't know the markets too well, I think it'd be easier to sell a fury than a bunch of rune ore (I can't find a buyer anywhere but on the forums).

thanks a lot \ would anyone happen to have drop rates #-o #-o #-o #-o According to Leesters in an old post (not sure how old, and not sure where it is), you get a barrows drop (any barrows item plus dragon medium helm) every 18.1 chests with a kill count between 10 and 19, and every 12.9 chests with a kill count between 20 and 29 (Those may not be the exact numbers, but they're close). As for my method (I don't have a screenshot of my current favorite method, so I'll just list it). Equipped: Guthans helm and skirt, Ahrims top, water staff, granite shield, 400 Bolt racks, mystic boots, barrows gloves, ring of life (has saved me before) Amulet of Glory, and Zamorak cape. Inventory: 4k chaos, 2k death, house teletab, spade, karils top, bottom, and crossbow, Guthans body and spear, whip, 12 prayer potions (4), 4 monkfish, and 2 empty spaces (for bloods and minds). I use Ice burst, ranging Ahrim and maging Karil (praying on both). With that inventory, I can manage up to 25 runs per trip (as long as I don't have any trouble with Karil or Ahrim and prayer). If Leesters is right, with my 21+ kill count, I should be able to get 2 items per trip (I put fun ahead of money, but why not make it a bit more efficient at the same time?) Of course, Veracs is also fun, but a bit too wasteful potion wise for my tastes.
-
Well, I usually mine about 50 in an hour, so it'd take me about 2 hours to get enough rune ore for a fury. But now that you mention it, I might just do this so I can afford a fury (so I'll lose even more if I die in Barrows). Then again, I might just get a berserker necklace or ring of stone. Who knows?

That's what you said when I got 77 attack, too, and look what I did to that. I plan on doing that to magic, too. Also, I've changed my barrows routine but forgot to take a picture. Let me put it this way: a lot more prayer potions (12) and a lot less monkfish (4); this should allow me to do 20-24 runs on one inventory, which means less walking, more barrows runs, and more drops. I'm fine with that.
