  1. This is my topic. I'm always doing something stupid. Quite a few I've survived: trying to use Ancients at barrows with ice rush (ring of life saved me against Verac), casting ice burst too early against Dharok when he was redbarred (luckily, that cast killed him), taking on Verac face to face with slayer dart and Veracs (was saved with 1 hp left), and that's all I can think of at the moment (I'm reckless at barrows). As for the ones that have killed me: running out of prayer against Dharok (he hit a nice 45), trying to run from Karil, but running across the room and not eating or praying, and (just yesterday) was Dharoking black demons, took one step too far, had prayer off, and got hit 10. I respawned in Falador, rushed back like a madman, and managed to save dharok helm, guthix cloak, and sara stole. All I can think of right now.
  2. I've made most my money at barrows, though runecrafting and mining runite are significant sources of money for me. Slayer also gives me money, and for a while, my main source of money was battlestaves. So I do a lot of things for money, but it's been mostly slayer and barrows for me recently.
  3. It's as affected as other spells are by magic bonus; most use it only at barrows or on Dagannoth Rex, so they're confused about it. Try using Wind Wave on the same monsters, and you'll get the same results. It is affected by magic bonus, just not as much in the circumstances it's usually used in (on the melee brothers, I see almost no difference between casting in Guthans and casting in Ahrims), so it's led to that rumor. Hope that long answer helps.
  4. There are two methods I'd like to see added here, which I'd be willing to help with (getting screenshots, writing the strategy, etc.) One is camping on Ancients with Guthans (you only show how to do one run at a time, which Ancients can do but isn't made for) and camping on normal with no prayer potions or food (is mentioned in Leesters' guide, but could be expanded upon). I'd be willing to write those if you'd like to put them in.
  5. and getting teamed by 4 or 5 people using a dds spec isnt? Come now, there are deadlier things in wildy that a dstone bolt spec used by a team. The point I was trying to make is that it will basically take away the shield slot for pking, since without a dragonfire shield you're as good as dead.
  6. I see one problem with giving the crossbow a special bar. The dragonfire bolts would suddenly be overpowered, since not having an antifire shield equipped suddenly leaves you open to getting hit hard. Imagine being teamed by 4-5 people all using the special at the same time. It would simply be too powerful.
  7. I wound up selling my dharoks, seeing as though it really wasn't worth it . Aaaaaanyway... I use rune defender as my shield, to conserve my crystal for dks :XD:. Then I dds karil and switch to g-axe. When I get below 20 pray and still haven't killed karil I switch to d scimmy. Then I do the rest of my route with mage. (Remaining dds spec on Ahrim switch to xbow). I'm not selling Dharoks, since I'm starting to get the hang of using it, and I'm going for all barrows sets anyway. I was hoping that this would have me sold on another barrows method (I currently switch on and off between three), but it isn't that different and doesn't seem that worthy of being used.
  8. Just wondering, since I acquired Dharoks last night, what's the method you use for dharoking in the barrows? It sounds interesting, and I want to know. Mind sharing the method?
  9. Nope; you have to kill Jad again to get it back, so I wouldn't go dying with that cape.
  10. Here are some possiblities: Dharoking Monkey Guards at Ape Atoll Tox-xil-ak (obsidian sword) plus berserker necklace, rune defender, other standard equipment Dragon scimitar The first two can be expensive, and the first is risky. Remember to bring anti poisons and some emergency food and a prayer potion (in case you get trapped behind some gorillas). The second is better than the third, but if you can't get a berserker necklace, then use a dragon scimitar. Now that you know what to use, here are the locations. For Dharoks, I don't recommend anywhere not near an altar; you'll use too many prayer potions if you do. As for the others, the best is probably bloodvelds. They have high hitpoints and low defence, so you'll hit often. There's a good guide for this: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=588556 It lists a lot of training spots; read through it and decide for yourself. There's also a section at the end specifically about strength training, though it doesn't consider Dharoks.
  11. Close, but not quite. Slight difference between the words. And, to be honest, I've never seen an armoured bra. :-k
  12. Didn't feel like firemaking much today, but I burned a few logs. Mostly wandered around, checked out the new look of Varrock (too many people for me there, though). Oh yeah, I went to barrows, too.
  13. it will cut you're time in half but it will also cut you're profit in half as well, if you're looking for a full profit you're better of banking in yanille bank. With this method you get 1650gp per trip, 17-20m from 85-99, 35-40k xp per hour, and probably a mil or so in magic xp :anxious: not going to say what it is quite yet, although its rather simple. Magic xp... hmm... sounds like the method I used to 85 mining. I don't know how fast it is (never timed it, surprisingly), but it sounds like this method almost perfectly, except I got a bit more profit per trip. Now I'm wondering what yours is....
  14. Let's see... I have some good ones... sold: 2 laws for 2 rune bars knife for 9.7k cup of tea for 10k spade for 25k All I can think of at the moment, but I know I've made more.
  15. Just happens to be exactly what I'm doing. Someone on my friends list talked me into it, and once they're all gone, I'll have 76 firemaking. I love letting things stockpile in my bank. Makes other things easier on down the road. Anything else I should get rid of? And anyone want to buy 4k oaks?
  16. I've been busy today: Only 3371 maples left in my bank to burn. I plan on going back to slayer once I get 76 firemaking. Or possibly another secret project. :-$
  17. That's usually closer to the average per run; you'll get some of each type of rune, along with racks and gold. I think the guide is off in what it says. Since money is no object, get 50 construction, Kharyrll (Canifis) portal, and an altar. Also, spend a week on slayer and get 55; most efficient way to do barrows. Maybe get magic up a bit; 61 will work, but higher is always better. And get prayer up; 48, maybe 52 (every 4 levels, it increases the restore by a potion by 1). With 61, I can usually kill 3 brothers without needing a dose, which is very helpful. Also, should I need a dose, the 22 points I get back are usually enough to kill 1 brother. As for what to wear, there are tons of barrows guides out there. As a general rule, for the chest, legs, and helmet, focus on melee defence (full rune, full torags, etc.), and for other slots (cape, boots) focus on magic attack (god cape, mystic/wizard/infinity boots). Use the best RfD gloves you can, since those are hands down the best gloves in the game. Glory is good for an amulet and doesn't cost a fortune like a fury. Bring dragonhide/karils top and bottom and a good bow for Ahrim. Also, with your melee stats, it'd be best to mage Karil, so no need to bring weapons to melee him with (but still bring a whip or something for kill count in the tunnels). As for efficiency, it's probably best to do one run per trip. That way, you'll rarely use prayer potions. For the best balance between speed and money, here are some tips. 1) Use house teletabs to get out; saves 2 inventory spaces. 2) When fighting Dharok and Karil in their crypts with prayer, use dragonhide/karils; better mage bonus, and since you're praying, defence doesn't matter. 3) Verac should be fought with a safespot, unless you usually have a lot of food left over. He's annoying to kill as he hits through everything, so I recommend just going with forcespawning him in the tunnels. For the sake of conserving food, however, I recommend safespots. 4) Following the same idea, bring one prayer potion, in case of a Karil tunnel. He's nasty and will hit you constantly, hard, and through almost all armour. Also, if you're unlucky against Ahrim like me, you may want to pray on him, too. 5) Kill count is iffy. I go for 20+ out of superstition, but most people don't get much more than 10, trying to go as quickly as possible. It's up to you, but use a good, fast weapon to lower the time you spend killing the monsters. 6) The puzzle door can get very frustrating, since you're likely to be attacked while trying to solve it. To get some time to think, get a monster to attack you, run to the other side of the room, then run back to the door, clicking on it as soon as you can. Since the monster has to follow you, you get a little extra time to think. 7) If your inventory is full after searching the chest, right click on the ground at your feet to see if there's something that didn't fit in your inventory. I almost missed a Guthans spear from not checking on the ground, so always make sure. That's all that came to me off the top of my head; if I can remember more, I'll add them.
  18. Anyone can get the giant pouch, you just can't use it until 75 runecrafting; I have a friend who got it while under level 50 rc, so anyone can get it. I usually have a lot more arrow shafts/bronze arrows, so those are placeholders. The beginning is pretty much the only part of my bank that's organized, including extras for placeholders. The rest is just a mess of items.
  19. I still prefer my method for banking ores. Seems faster than mining near Yanille, though depending on your exact method, it might be better. Also, it'll soon hit you how much ore you need to mine. Once you hit 78 and realize you're just halfway there, it'll hit you like a train. Also, shouldn't this be in the main Blogscape board? Or is that just me?
  20. Problem is I can't really afford a rare at the moment, and I much prefer to sink money into skills rather than rares, so barrows sets are probably the closest I'll be getting to rares. What exactly do you mean by balancing my combat stats? They're uneven for a reason, though if you can convince me why to make more even, I might consider it.
  21. Anything in my bank I should/could get rid of? Are my stats at least decent? Rate it out of 10; I want to know what others think.
  22. Exact same here. Level 70 slayer and no dragon drops. Let's hope that my luck changes soon, though.
  23. Decided on what my next goal will be: 76 firemaking (I have that much banked). Also, today I finally did a bank pic:
  24. Haven't really done much else today. Part of me wants to go back to powertraining slayer, part wants to float around and do several different things at once. Any ideas?
