If you absolutely must train strength, if you will go into convulsions, whack your head on the corner of your computer desk and die if you do not train strength, then get Sara Sword. If you're not one of that tiny group, then get a whip. It is so much better in 99+% of situations that I can't see how the Sara Sword would be needed.
-
But they won't both hit their max, and therefore those numbers you gave are meaningless. Using the setup above, let's compare. The sara sword setup has 113 strength and 82 crush attack. The Godsword setup has 163 strength and 102 crush attack. Assuming the bonuses are roughly linear, the godsword is 1.24 times as accurate and hits 1.44 times as hard. It also is .67 times slower. (These numbers are relative to the Saradomin Sword's hits) TotalDamage=Speed*Accuracy*AverageHit TotalDamage=1.24*1.44*0.67=1.20 According to those numbers, the Godsword should hit harder regardless of the black mask/void melee. Only assumption I made was that the bonuses were linear. I know they're not, but they should be very close over a relatively small range.
-
Actually, the accuracy of the black mask makes SS/Zam spear even hit more accurate, resulting in the godsword being more inefficient. It makes them more accurate, but it makes the Godsword more accurate as well. Given the godsword's massive strength bonus, the extra (high) hits make up for the lesser speed. And if you want to be ridiculous and piety the task, then the Godsword wins hands down. But I don't recommend that unless you have the Unicorn, which means you don't need protection prayers at all.
-
Since you're there for slayer, definitely use the black mask. No reason not to. Karils top and bottom, fury, basically whatever you want in those slots, focusing mainly on magic defence. With Void Melee or Black Mask, Godsword is faster than Saradomin Sword (according to a guide on these forums that I think was lost in the rollback), so use a godsword if you have it, and if you don't, Saradomin Sword, Zamorak Spear, Dragon Mace, or Veracs Flail. For a recent task there, I used 8 prayer pots, 2 pure sets, 1 Bunyip, and small amounts of food. Simply pray ranged and hack away with crush attacks.

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
Mischlings replied to Sentry_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
how you mean "4 year old integrated graphics, you wont probably wont be able to run it"? He means that an integrated graphics card that was made 4 years ago (and therefore likely isn't that powerful) probably doesn't have enough memory to run the new RS graphics. -

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.40 GHz 3054 MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT w/1511 MB Total Memory Looks like I'll have no trouble with the new updates. (And to think that this computer only cost 700 USD) -
That's exactly how many xp you need for 83. I like that more than just getting the level. Rate/hate/whatever.

I do whatever it is that I decide to do. That's it. Sometimes I buy, sometimes I collect myself. That's the way I play. Whatever seems like the best idea at the time.

best barrows drop yay
Mischlings replied to mrbamboozal's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
Nice, keep up the barrowing. That should be one of the best items to get, quite consistent money, as it's the item of the set someone loses if they die with Dharoks. Don't stop barrowing, and keep getting better. You'll get something better sometime soon. Hopefully a spear, or even the elusive double chest (which is rarer than a Spear (and more special in my book)). -
I know what you mean. After I got 68 summoning, I tried Spectres with Bunyip/sharks, and they hit quite a bit. With 5 sharks and a bunyip, I could get nearly a full inventory of good herbs, but prayer seemed to be the better method, especially considering that I can get a full inventory without a single prayer pot dose if I try.

Dust Devils: Prime use for the slayer helmet, as the facemask prevented use of black mask, and the salve amulet has no effect. Aberrant Spectres: Sure, nosepeg+black mask sounds tempting, but the salve amulet (e) is much more effective, and I'm not aware of the fury making up for the 5% difference in attack and strength. However, if you want to cannon them in the new dungeon, the helmet is indispensible. I prefer not to as I like all the herb drops, but some might prefer that route. Banshees: Seriously, the salve amulet ripped through this task. The new ones in the smokey dungeon can be done just as well with just the facemuffs or whatever they're called along with salve amulet (e). Wall Beasts: Those were simple, mindless tasks, and the extra 15% is practically unnoticeable, as they died quickly enough anyway. The only time I could see myself using those is at Dust Devils, but since they have low defence and I rarely get that task anyway, the mask is low on my priorities. It sounded much better at first, but I don't really see the need now. And before you point out the defence to me, seriously, think about it. Wall Beasts do no damage, the majority of people pray at aberrants anyway (it's actually cheaper than using food), low level banshees do no damage and you pretty much need to pray against the high level ones to cannon or even kill them at all, and a Bunyip/B2P is FAR more hp than you'll ever need at Dust Devils, so at those tasks, how much difference does it make? As for other tasks, I find that either my Bunyip is enough or more than enough, or I need to pray for the task anyway, making the defence difference negligible. And if you really need that much defence, take a proper shield instead of a defender; it makes a world of difference at some tasks. Bottom line: I don't think the new slayer helmet is worth it.

RS Players from US, Canada, Australia, Netherlands!

You use diamond bolts; those hit through prayer and armour, and the Queen's prayer isn't 100% protection in the first place.

I'd add a little note in the guide that Jagex might change that in the future (like what happened with Wyverns and Mith dragons), so that should be used with caution and you should always check yourself after an update (it might be a hidden update, after all).

I can confirm that mage protect and antifire pots protect 100% from the greens' dragonfire. Upon discovering that, I made a few changes that work quite well (I don't have the best equipment for some slots, but this still gets me 7 kills a trip) Also, a dose of ranged pot will last for two doses of antifire, but range potions are dirt cheap right now (less than 300 per dose) and the added ranged levels really help, so dose both at the same time.

Solo DKs ~ 7.3m loot :D
Mischlings replied to Aquashock's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
Nicer than my solo trip. I got two axes; you got two axes and a warrior. Your axes were back to back kills, mine were back to back Primes. Then again, my trip got cut short because I wasn't just maging and I didn't bring enough super restores. I rate it 9.85/9.8. Rex isn't usually that nice to people who kill him. -
After being inspired by this video, I wanted to try soloing the Dag Kings. Note that I've never even done an entire trip as a hybrid before. I killed Supreme just fine after going back up the ladder to make sure Rex wasn't on me, and tried to safespot Rex while I could still attack Prime. I then realized that I had no idea what I was doing. So I killed Rex and ranged Prime to death: I killed Rex again, this time with the luxury of not having to pray (at this point, I decided to alternate between Rex and Prime and ignore Supreme entirely). Then I ranged Prime to death, and what do I get? I kill Rex once more, and, having wasted my restores and brought too many brews, I teleport out. Not bad for 6 kills and not really knowing what I was doing.

20k Crafting exp/hour with only 20 crafting, doing no work?!
Mischlings replied to Yohbilleh's topic in General Guides
For the recommended quests, you mixed up In Aid of the Myreque and in Search of the Myreque. In Aid of the Myreque lets you access the Burgh de Rott bank and In Search of the Myreque gives you the path through the swamp, not the other way around, like you said in your guide. -
Calling ALL runite miners!
Mischlings replied to Artificial_Doom_Flavor's topic in General Discussion
According to a guide in PMG by Kariga (look here), the formula (derived from his timing) in seconds is: 1386-(players)/3 I have used that formula to determine when to go back to a world to mine the rocks, and it works quite well for me. While I am no sure if that is exactly the formula, it is close enough that I never noticed a difference of more than a couple seconds. -
Prayer pots restore 7+(prayer level)/4 points per dose (rounded down), with the holy wrench giving you one extra point per dose. That would appear to be helpful, but it's really not that much. Since the holy wrench takes up an inventory space, you lose four prayer pot doses. At ~60 prayer, it's only an advantage if you have 24 or more 4-dose prayer potions, so for the purposes of the fight caves, it's useless.

When I went for 85 mining, I used a method to bank iron ore. About the same levels (I think I started at 81 mining) got me 3 million (not sure if that was profit or not; it was still a decent sum of money). Here's how it worked: 1. Teleport to Ardougne, wearing charged glory, boots of lightness, and wielding a rune pickaxe. 2. Run east and north to the mine just outside of Ardougne and mine a full load of iron. 3. Rub glory, teleport to Edgeville, deposit iron ore, take out Ardougne teleport runes. 4. Start over from the beginning. I also wore a dueling ring in case I forgot to swap an uncharged glory. It could be done with dueling rings alone, but you lose less money with glories. You could also use the Khazard teleport on lunar magicks to mine at Port Khazard, but Ardougne teleport runes are cheaper and I don't think there are any great advantages to using Port Khazard.

Both are probably reasons. There is a 16 character (I think) cap on the names (which is only noticeable on items like "addy warhammer"), and people are lazy when it comes to typing (another discussion, another time). Something else I'm wondering is if there are discrepancies in the prices on the GE and shops (I heard about an exploit involving machetes) and how Jagex plans to find and fix that, as that might allow for RWT despite all of Jagex's safeguards and changes.

2 October 2007 - Cutting Edge(ville) + shop improvement
Mischlings replied to C110's topic in General Discussion
I'm stuck as f2p and accidentally took out all my money, losing the space in my bank. I decided to spend it all on runes after this update because I needed something to with 10 million cash. I bought 27k slayer darts, during which I discovered something I haven't seen mentioned (sorry I didn't get a screenshot). (Here's the point of my post) You cannot buy more than 50k of one item at a time. So if buying huge amounts of an item, you need to buy in intervals of 50k. -
I have issues with Stage6 right now. I was hoping to find all of Full Metal Alchemist so I could finally watch it, but every episode is either dubbed (I hate dubbed versions) or subtitled in a language I can't understand (Why do we need 50 versions of each episode in Spanish?) On another FMA note, (Reb could probably answer this, but anyone could if they know) when Ed performs transmutation without a circle, he always claps his hands first. That's obvious. What I'm trying to understand is does he need to clap his hands because his arms form a transmutation circle, or does he do it just for show and doesn't even need to clap first? On another unrelated note, I'm surprised there isn't even a passing mention of Trigun on here. I just finished watching it about a week ago and I absolutely love it. I know it's about 9 years old but still, does no one else like it?

Rubik's Cube: the most diabolical puzzle ever invented
Mischlings replied to Mischlings's topic in Off-Topic
My method for it, basically, is first layer, position last layer, orient last layer. It's heavily based on my 3x3x3 method and you only need to memorize two move sequences (maybe three; to me, the third is intuition but you might need to memorize it). If you want to know more, tell me, and I'll post specifically what my method for it is.
