  1. Thanks for this setup, but why would you need extra kc? And is there any other helm that I could use? (Haven't done Freminek Isles.) Also, wouldn't you need more then 1 prayer potion? KC of 8 is pretty much required for blood runes, and most people try to get a KC of around 12. You can use 6, but that's not the best. Archer helm would work if you can get that -- if not, use a barrows helm. You don't need more than one prayer potion -- you can probably tank Guthan and Torag at the least. Ahrim dies very quickly. Dharok and Verac probably require prayer. Karil can be difficult as well, but I don't remember having too much trouble with him. Feel free to ask any more questions -- I'll try to answer.
  2. This is an old picture, but it could work. Not optimal equipment, but the upgrades should be somewhat obvious. If you don't have void, Black dragonhide top (not Karil's)/Verac's Skirt/Barrows Gloves/Neitiznot helm will work instead. Use the enchanted bolts on the brothers and other bolts (I used mithril, addy work better) for kill count. If you upgrade anything, focus on high melee defence AND ranged attack -- it's a difficult balance, but it can be done. Void may or may not be better than the alternatives I suggested above. It's really up to you to test what works with your levels. Also, the ammo in the picture will last several of trips -- you don't need anywhere near that for one trip. I think I lost 20-25 diamond bolts per trip. No, it's not more efficient than maging, but it's different and can be fun.
  3. I'd like to make a quick correction. Runite doesn't take 30 minutes to respawn; it never will. The time it takes to respawn (in seconds) is 1386-(players in world/3). I've used those numbers when mining and never been off by more than, say, 10 seconds. Also, you'll want to mention that mining for cash and mining for xp do not go together in f2p (it can be done in p2p, but not many people would want to do that). So, when you need cash, use the moneymaking mining methods; when you want xp, use the xp methods. Your moneymaking methods are not viable methods to use to level up, which you claim. Also, this guide contains, as far as I can tell, no new methods or interesting takes on old methods. I don't mean to be condescending, but it probably won't stick out much without something new.
  4. I have. Felt like a complete idiot. Only that once, though. Every other time I've managed to remember.
  5. Yes, no 85+ miner disagree, at max speed Runecrafting is at minimum equal to mining if not better. 85 mining is about equal to death rune crafting. I do both and have found that they're pretty even. Now, 91 runecrafting blows 85 mining out of the water, but up until then, they're actually pretty even.
  6. Can someone enlighten me to these new ways? Are any of these as revolutionary as, say, Altar and Kharyrll portal in your house? Pointing me in the direction of a guide or any other way to find this information would be appreciated.
  7. I have better ways (86 mining), I was just wondering if it was still possible to make a decent profit at one of my favorite pastimes (I LOVED barrowing, trying it pretty much any way that I could think of), so it's good to know that it's still decent. Though, about how much is it per trip? How long are your trips? It varies; assuming that my old methods still work, I could do one in about 7 minutes (expensive and risky, but fun as hell).

  9. I haven't played this game seriously since the summer. I used to be a huge barrower, and I wonder what the profit looks like for barrowing now. About how much is the loot worth per trip, given the price changes since I last played? (I want the value of the loot, not supplies -- it varies too much based on which method I decide to use.)
  10. About the only advice I can give you is for One, as I haven't passed Raining Blood. Learn the Darkness Riff and get consistent. You'll want to hit the star power phrases in there. They help. Also, get acquainted with Fast Solo A. Once you reach that part of the song, start trying to keep up with it, alt-strumming throughout. Once you're in the low yellow, activate star power, then just hope you stay alive throughout the triplets with star power still activated. The strumming at the end of FSA should give you a good cushion in your rock meter. From there until the Darkness Riff returns, you might need a bit of luck, but it all gets easier after FSA. That's what I did, and I managed to 4-star it first run (not a sightread, as I'd seen the chart in many videos before).

    1) Yes 2) Yes 3) As far as I know As for DLC, the Metallica pack is pretty much a must-have. Outside of that, I can only recommend what I have. If you want some songs that will challenge you on guitar/bass (and probably drums) get the Roadrunner pack. Just browse Youtube videos of Rock Band DLC to see what looks like it'd be fun/challenging.
  12. After buying Rock Band 2 recently, I didn't play GH3 for about 10 days. The difference between the two games is night and day. After adjusting to the tighter Rock Band 2 hit window, I flew through the last two tiers of GH3. Almost. I managed to beat Before I Forget (forget hammer on chords in Rock Band 2, we need them right here), Cult of Personality, Number of the Beast, Cliffs of Dover, and One (even managed 4 stars). Only things giving me trouble are Mosh 1 and Flood! in Raining Blood, the only main setlist song I haven't yet beaten on Expert. And then there's Lou, which might be a small problem.

I'm thinking of picking up Rock Band 2 this week, though due to lack of space and singing ability I won't get the drums/microphone, sticking with just Guitar and Bass (for now). I'm just hoping that transitioning from GH3 to RB2 won't absolutely kill me (the timing window is much less forgiving, so it just might).
  14. Flail is NEVER a good answer. slow it down in practice mode, try using hyperspeed, do anything that helps you to memorize the note pattern. You'll never improve if you only rely on luck. I have it memorized, but slowing it down and working on it that way doesn't really help, as the only difficulty is the speed. It's just irritating beyond belief.
  15. Owned GH3 for two weeks now, I've beaten career on Hard, still trying to 5-star One, Raining Blood, Number of the Beast, and Knights of Cydonia (damned triplets). I've also beaten TTFAF on Hard and beaten the first 6 tiers on Expert. What I would like to know, however, is how the hell people manage to pass Mosh 1 on Raining Blood without Star Power. That's pretty much all that's stopping me from a 5 star, so is there a way other than just flailing?
  16. Pfft... that's nothing; I was pulling for them to put Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (The song). I'd love to see all those kids cry after having to play a 42 minute song  I'd rather have Octavarium, Six Degrees would be way too hard to pass, even if it was like 10 minutes :D Ultimate DLC pack for WT/RB2: A Change of Seasons Octavarium In the Presence of Enemies Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Nearly 2 hours of Dream Theater in those songs alone.
  17. I've probably played at 30-40 hours in the last week, so between 4 and 6 hours a day. Now, I had played Rock Band and GH3 before I got it, but that was only at a friend's house and probably didn't add up to the amount of time I've played in this last week, so it's not like I'd never played before. I managed to go from not knowing how to play to getting 90+% on medium guitar within about 1 hour of playing Rock Band. All in all, I probably played only about 20 hours of Rock Band/GH3 before, however. (and I played RB with the strat, so that barely helped me improve).
  18. I posted about a week ago saying that I'd just gotten the game. Well, in this last week, I've made some progress, but compared to the posts here..... jeez, everyone here is like a freaking god. My progress is like this: No FCs (not even on easy, but I've been playing that lefty), and 5 stars on all but 5 setlist songs on Hard: Knights of Cydonia (3*), 3s & 7s (3*), One (4*), Raining Blood (4*), and Number of the Beast (4*). I haven't taken any screenshots, as some scores are only good enough to get 5 stars, and I don't feel those are that noteworthy. Now, is that good for just playing a week, or should I be doing better?
  19. I just got GH3 today. I'd played it at a friend's house before, and forgot just how ridiculous they make the charts. It makes me think they make things dfficult just to make them difficult. Regardless, I'm working my way up, but I can barely pass the first tier songs on Expert. It'll be a while before I'm posting any scores. Also, I was wondering if anyone could help me. What's the best way to position your hand on the LP so you can strum and quickly whammy without having to move your hand far, if at all? I can't seem to get my hand there right.
  20. He also FCed Heroes of our Time, according to his Scorehero thread. I can't find any specific links at the moment, but he's helping design a new guitar controller for the game. I didn't hear a huge amount about it, but seriously.
  21. I downloaded N game to get the full version. So far, I've beaten episodes 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 30, 40, 50, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 70, 71, 90, and 91. So I've beaten about 25% of the game. This is possibly the hardest game I've played.
  22. Saw these at a store today, thought everyone here would appreciate it or at least laugh a bit.
  23. Here's what happened: I had just climbed down a ladder, oddly placed in this large cave. I was breathing heavily, like there was some large weight placed on my chest. I ran through an odd, winding tunnel, past all sorts of things trying to kill me. I finally reached another ladder, this one going down. I took a deep breath and started to climb down. Once down the ladder, I was attacked by these large, dinosaur like creatures. I killed one with a sword, then trapped the other one while attacking him with magic. Once he was dead, I shot arrows at the other. And continued again from the beginning. That dream is kind of what I'd expect RuneScape to be like if it was a virtual reality game.
  24. My only complaint about the setlist is Pull Me Under by Dream Theater. Sure, it's DT's only real hit, but the number of songs they skipped over? Metropolis Part 1 is one of the most complex songs DT has ever written, and if they wanted difficult solos, why not Fatal Tragedy or (more likely) Under a Glass Moon? bVmq2C5kLoM (Under a Glass Moon solo) I would much rather see that than Pull Me Under.
  25. As I do not have enough time to make a well-thought out, exhaustive post, I will instead point everyone here to a scientific paper on this very subject. Existential Risks by Nick Bostrom. I can't think of anything at the moment that he hasn't yet covered in this paper, and it gives a pretty good indication of what could or could not happen.
