3,000-4,000 is the standard for bulking. You're bound to put on at least some fat when trying to "gain weight", it's not gonna be alll muscle. If you just wanna stay in shape, or you're not looking to grow a whole lot bigger, less would be preferred. 6,000? I'd like to know what that routine is all about  I suppose it's just my personal preference that my arms can lift as much or more than they look like they can lift. Big arms just for the sake of looking big [via fat+muscle instead of just muscle] is not something I'd consider a positive trait, but again, that's just me. And that 6,000 was some varsity hockey winter training camp or something at my university...
  2. I stand by my opinion that them zen masters are just plum crazy. Those koans are all about becoming crazy with 'em >_>.
  3. You're 18? ... Seriously?
  4. Something to do with girls. Like at least every other week. (and not in the playa sense, but in the [bleep], YES, [bleep],.... damnit sense).
  5. Ha. Hahahaha. HAHAHAHAHHA. hehe.

That's kind of a bad point you're making- the beginner stage is when muscle growth is most rapid. A perfect workout for a beginner for, say, a year may get the results that you're mentioning (note: less), but once you hit you're natural strength muscle growth is nowhere near as fast as when you were getting to it. I don't see how anyone should be eating 3000-4000 calories a day unless they're doing nonstop boot camp level cardio all day (although in such situations I've heard of people eating upwards of 6000 calories a day for some of the crazy level kind of athletic workout routines). This is weight lifting- you don't burn a lot of calories, relatively. Just make sure you have enough protein for muscle rebuilding, and beyond that just eat healthy. No need to engorge yourself. Then let the results speak for themselves, if you can really stick to it.
  7. Sources...? That sounds like either a) the students are being force fed information they have no chance in hell of understanding or B) [cabbage]. I will admit, even if though I have an incredibly hard time finding that point credible in the slightest, that average US high school ain't exactly great relative to some of the world. Though the educational ace of the US is college, not high school.

Bullcrap. Straight up bullcrap. Like assassin said, if you only allow visible muscle growth to be your motivation I'd find it a hard to believe that even half of you would get past the "beginner" stage. Insta-results just don't happen, you have to be patient and focused on more important things than your appearance, like your health.
  9. that is kickass hair. I wish I could get mine that long, but theres probably something that will cause me to need a cut in the future, long before it gets anywhere near that length. For me though, that would probably be my ideal length. Down to the small of my back, but not so long that if I sit down I sit on hair. Ew man :| .

Weights at home...? I had a bench press back at my house dude, it isn't exactly unheard of.

As long as you get enough proteins for the re-building stage (which I'd say is a bit less than you're suggesting), it doesn't matter how fast your metabolism is. All that does is change how fast you get 'em.

The man who says he has "quit" Runescape/WoW has, in reality, not. Id est, if you can name the date, even the month, of when you "quit", you didn't mate. God damn these [bleep]ing pipedreams. NO.

Heeeeelllllll naw. Try five years, no breaks. If those 180 pounds are muscle, unless you're a linebacker I'd say you're pretty set muscle-wise. I mean, I'm 150. That's 20-30 pounds more muscle dude, assuming similiar proportions.

If you're expecting to gain any kind of noticable mass in that time frame, don't kid yourself. Posting a picture of yourself now would be no different than posting a picture of yourself a week or two from now. You may think, or at the very least say, you lost muscle mass over the summer, but if you aren't benching at least 300, visually speaking the difference shouldn't be noticable in any way by the human eye. Muscle doesn't just dissappear like that, especially at a young age when they're smaller and growing, and especially not over the span of just one summer. It doesn't sound like a desperate attempt at making excuses. It is. Just tell us now whether you think you're ripped enough to post a pic or not now, so I can know to actually check this thread. If not, I sure as hell ain't waiting a year for you to get bigger, if that's even going to happen with your juvenile mentality.

I agree, it's only good when they crash and burn. Even when some people die in those crashes? :| Have you seen how those things are built? No ever dies in those mother-[bleep]ing fortresses.

Dude, instead of just trying to avoid the joke you created it yourself. Like those Japanese sex toys that are only like four inches deep. I was going to make the joke though, so it's kind of a moot point.
  17. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Fight the powah. Or, rather, pyro. [From what, three pages ago?]
  18. Ha, the response to the "10%" myth mirrors my opinions to a T. "No." Gold.
  19. Say "Hi". Do not plan your conversation. Just talk to him, simply open a conversation and let it flow. DO NOT PLAN YOUR CONVERSATION. Easier said than done, I know, but the only way to face shyness is to hit it head on. Being roundabout about it will do nothing but augment your problem.
  20. No take-backs :shame: . Okay, so this is yet another story about the same crazies being crazy, as usual. Wee.
  21. Pack of liberal youngins >_>.
  22. That's why it's a pet peeve. It's fine for most people, it just personally ticks me off :P . It's a tad ironic though, considering I'm losing my Latin, I'm beginning to have less and less of a right to have that pet peeve :-# .
  23. pyro, if you are doing this on a personal whim rather than mod consensus, dear Lord, I pray for your soul once venomai finishes logically destroying you. Combatting him on the topic of drugs is not a life event which I wish to relive  . [*I'm not a fan of illegal drugs/tobacco, but I still agree with 'em.] [bleep]. I really hate when people pull Latin out of their [wagon] when they can't even read the language. It's pretentious as heck, especially in the 60% of the cases where the translation doesn't even make any sense. [/pet peeve]
