  1. Hmm, this is human rights gone mad. Ok, let's suppose it is a violation of his rights... what about the rights of people who were offended by his provocative dressing statement? Or what about the rights of muslims to wear traditional clothing to Christian schools? and so on and so forth.... where exactly do we draw the line? Wearing girls clothing to school when you're actually male is taking it too far i'm affraid. The principal definately had the good sense to send him home, but I'm sure the media and general public will make him pay for it and make his life hell for doing his job properly... sigh.
  2. Oh, thanks for that mate. I'll add that to the main topic and see if it gets some support. Was thinking about adding alternative loations, as not everyone is happy with Keldagrim.
  3. It's like any other expensive item... it's only worth it if you're going to use it a LOT. So if you're thinking about spending a few months slaying, or drop farming, or Pest Control, then yes it's worth the money, espcially since it's dropped in price recently. Otherwise, stick with glory.
  4. I don't remember the exact costs, but if I remember correctly it cost me about 3.5m for the materials. But here's a tip incase you haven't already thought about it. You don't need lvl 75 to build the altar... you can do it with level 72 like I did. You just need the crystal saw (available by doing the quest). The saw lets you build up to three levels above your own (excluding rooms)
  5. You should read this guide written by Wakka... really good and comprehensive. Answers all of your questions. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=585639
  6. Ok I agree :) Perhaps the death penalty is a little harsh. I would be in favour of scrapping it on the condition that life sentences meant as such, and that conditions in jail were lowered somewhat (to increase capacity and lower the tax burden on us). Slightly O.T. here.... LOL, did you read the case here in Britain where inmates successfully sued the government because they didn't have their own personal toilets? I read one on the BBC website a few weeks ago about a pending court case whereby a prisoner is sueing over his TV. He's demanding a LCD/Plasma as his CRT takes up too much room lol. Insane really ;)
  7. I've been tested twice in my life. The first time was in high school when I was twelve or thirteen. I scored 152-154 if I remember correctly. I was again tested in college about five years ago. I scored 146 lol. Seems I've gotten slightly dumber with age. ;) At this rate I'll be a Big Brother viewer (vegetable) within 20 years ;)
  8. Perhaps if it really was a deterrent then there might be a convincing argument for it. As it stands, the states in the US which have the death penalty also have the higher crime and murder rates. When people commit a crime they don't weigh up the potential sentences they might get, they don't plan on getting caught. Ok, here's a chart of total crimes commited as an average per population. The higher up the graph, the worse it is right? http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_t ... per-capita Now here's a graph showing actual sentence length. I was operating on the theory, that the longer the sentence, the less likely people are to commit said crime in the first place... http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_s ... nce-length With a very few exceptions, the graphs show that in general my theory is supported. The countries with the shortest sentences (and I've got another graph somewhere that shows money spent per criminal), have the highest crime rates and vice versa. What I'm trying to say, is that in these countries people are discouraged from commiting crime as they know the sentences are harsh. This would translate here and in the US. Would you not agree? Higher sentences and worse jail conditions would reduce crime somewhat? You are absolutely correct that the death penalty has little effect in the states that it's in place. However, less than 1% of murders warrant the death penalty. It is likely (although no one has evidence for it), that would be murders are well aware of this fact and think that they are quite likely to sidestep an actual death sentence, given how rare such a sentence is. It's not an effective deterrant as the odds of being given a death sentence are incredibly small.
  9. You just don't get it do you? You've completely missed the whole point... it's not about punishment. It's about deterrent! I'm not vengeful, I don't to punish people for the sake of it or "to get my own back". It's not about that in the least. All I care about is stopping the crimes from happening in the first place. Society today is too focused on closing the stable doors after the horse has bolted. This is symolic of society's views on the justice system. Take Ian Huntly for example. He was found guilty of abusing children many years ago. He was given community service and a fine. He ruined at least one child's life, and was barely punished for it. Several years later, he kills two little girls. Murders, then abuses, then burns the bodies... He has since been caught and jailed at an estimated cost of 1.5 million thus far. Who knows much more resouces will be used for the duration of his sentence, his dedicated guard, special seperated cell and of course, the three court appeals he's permitted. Now, legally we can't keep him in prison for more than 25 years. He has stated himself that he shouldn't be released. Despite this he will be back out there in the general public with a new identity no doubt. How can anyone possibly think this is acceptable? I challange you, what kind of person, no matter how compassionate can possibly argue that this person should ever be allowed out of prison? Yet already there are people saying that his rights have been infringed and calling for mis-trial etc... My point here is that he knew the odds of being caught were long and falsely believed that he could get around the legal system like he did last time. He clearly wasn't discouraged by the thought of a minimal punishment. I don't know why I bother getting upset about it. It doesn't matter what I say, nothing will ever change and I don't expect to change anyone's views, especially not here. But it's nice to voice my frustrations, even if no one is actually listening... or reading properly.
  10. 1. There's no way they could make those monsters? Care to expand on that? How can they not make them? 2. The graphics are really bad? Erm, I'm not a Jagex developer, and I drew all of those graphics in MSPaint. They're not the final graphics of course... you're being stupid. 3. Guild wouldn't be that big? Dude, you're just making stupid comments now. Go sit down before you hurt yourself.
  11. LOL, that's hilarious... this far 37% of players don't know their monitor aspect ratio. OMG, that's incredible. Even if you don't know the term, surely the only two answers narrow it down somewhat??? Hmmm, 4by3 or 16by9 (regular or widescreen). Come on people... get a clue. To find out the rest... Right click START and select EXPLORE. Now right click on My Computer & select PROPERTIES. Now on the GENERAL tab, you'll see lots of computer information including process speed and memory installed. For resolution, simply right click on your desktop and again select PROPERTIES, your resolution information can be found there. If you're unaware of your connection type, or don't know roughly how old your computer is, then that's just plain ignorance (unless of course your playing on a school computer or something, in which case you could ask someone) Maybe Jagex should've realised how many idiots play (should've known that by observing behaviours in game as it's obvious there), and include this information.
  12. In terms of longterm game development, this is an awful result. Creating an entire house to host this event is going to take a lot of development time. This is time I would prefer they spent on permanent updates, not something that's only going to last a couple of weeks. :(
  13. I think there will likely be a minor update today... more of the "bits n' pieces" thing they've been working on. I don't mind updates in the least... I think it's just the last few have been pretty major and had enormous effects on the game economy. I can understand why that would upset some people.
  14. For me it's; * Slayer * Melee * Cooking * Range * Mage
  15. You've gotta break some eggs to make an omlette. I mean, I'm sure there are people that have spent their whole lives in prison, and died in prison for crimes they didn't commit and never got out, much better? Oh, maybe we should just stop jailing people too... I mean God, what if we get it wrong? That's precisely the mentality criminals love to hear... they're encouraged by the tree hugging human rights activists and an overly complex legal system which can be abused, knowing that there's good odds that they'll get away with it (or at least a reduced sentence). A Good Example There's a local case here, where a man was jailed in the late 70s for murdering his brother (he put an axe through his head, repeatedly). The evidence was overwhelming and he was sent to jail for "life". 15 years later, he was released for good behaviour lol. That was in '94. Guess what, that same year he murdered another person. Again the evidence is quite overwhelming and he confessed apparently. The new court case lasted a year, despite the evidence and he was again jailed for "life" (early '96). You'll never guess what... he's been released again. He did less than 9 years for his second murder. What's even worse, he's been given a new identity to protect him! Oh, and guess who paid for all of this? Yup, us hard working law abiding tax payers. This sort of thing happens all of the time, this just happens to be a case I read about on BBC. I'll find the link if anyone is really interested.
  16. A few of my favourites... * Letters To Cleo * White Zombie * Bangles There's a lot of others that I'd consider rubbish, but are still popular for some reason... there's also a lot that aren't bands since they don't play their own instruments, or in most cases, don't write their own stuff. i.e; Spice Girls [kitty]cat Dolls <----- LOL, even the censor thinks they're rubbish ;) Girls Aloud etc...
  17. Awesome.... thanks for that! I'd read whispers about Pegasus, but I thought it was a spinoff TV series, not unlike the Caprica idea that's been doing the rounds. Also, on the subject I found a cool looking fan based movie called 13th Colony. Looks good too :) http://www.battlestarfanfilm.org/main/

  19. Its Gervais..... and i dont understand what appeals to people about him, he just seems a boring person. A middle aged fatman really :P Thank you spelling Nazi. ;)
  20. Unfortunately, society has lost sight of the penal and justice system's actual function. It is in place, not to rehabilitate, not to coddle, no, but to prevent crime from occurring in the first place. We've tried the "I feel your pain and I sympathise", approach for too long now, and it doesn't seem to be working. All these criminals are doing is soaking up money and resources, with luxurious prison accomodation, overly complex and lengthy legal proceedings followed by appeal after appeal. All of this for proven murderes, rapists, child molesters etc... how dare anyone squander our money and resources on this. I'm sick of it. I firmly believe that as a means of deterent, that capital punishment should be used for many of our most horrible crimes (specifically the ones I've mentioned above). Conditions of death would be; * an majority ruling by jury. * five years death row, pending other information that may come to light While I'm on the subject, sentences should be dramatically increased for crimes that don't quite muster the death penalty, again, as a means of detering would be criminals in the first place. Prison accomodation and conditions should also be significantly reduced. I'm under no illusion that capital punishment would stop these horrible crimes, of course not, but they would certainly reduce instances of them (assuming the legal process isn't so complex and offering wouldbe criminals false hope that the odds of escaping it are in their favour). It may not stop it altogether... but each death penalty will certainly reduce it by one.
  21. Ricky Jervais for me :)
  22. I've never been to Glastonbury... simply too far to travel lol. I'm going to T In The Park next weekend though, which is Scotland's answer to it. The lineup is just about as good as it happens; * The Killers * Razorlight * My Chemical Romance * Amy Winehouse * Arctic Monkeys * Lily Allen * James Morrison * Snow Patrol * Scissor Sisters * Queens of the Stone Age * Fretallis * Avril Lavigne and loads of others... can't wait really :) Three day mudbath... yay! The link if you're interested http://www.tinthepark.com/
  23. One of my favourite post-apocalyptic novels. You know, to read it you wouldn't realise it was set so long ago. I reads like a modern novel :) Would make a fantastic movie for sure.
  24. I've seen a few people die in my years on Runescape, but I gotta say, unless they're a friend, they rarely ever gotten their stuff back. I'll give it back if it's low-to-mid level stuff, as i'm sure the player probably needed it and it's not worth keeping. As for high level stuff, well that depends on how the person behaved whilst I was there. If they were in any way rude (i.e. spawn stealing, language, ignoring, insulting etc..), then they can whistle for their stuff lol. However, on the majority of cases, if they're nice they get their stuff back. Plain and simple.
  25. Probably wouldn't work... but would be nice if someone could confirm. Could you uncook noted sharks/lobs? Some uber exp if u could ;) Maybe a bug they haven't though about lol.
