  1. What are we talking about here? About which weapon does more damage? There is a simple way to verify this: kill one kind of monster during a hour with each weapon (use the same stats and pots) and compare the exp values. I think this will vary from monster to monster: monsters with higher defense are more easily defeated with a longsword, as it's more accurate. Monsters with lower defense on the other hand will be killed more quickly with a scimitar. This is just my guess. If you really care that much: try it out ...
  2. If you could only trade 1 kind of item at a time, wouldn't that solve it? If it wasn't possible to offer a mask and junk in the same trade, the problem would be solved. If you can find a empty BH world and bring enough RWTers, you can have the crater to yourself (you need 10 people to be able to enter). Also, if they only bring a fury, they can protect item and it's completely safe for them. If you buy at low and sell at middle price in normal trade, you can easily transfer money (pm me if you want me to explain further). How about making the market non-player controlled. That would certainly solve it (a little extreme though). Or how about limiting th amount of items someone can buy from the Ge in a day (who needs 150 tassets anyway)?
  3. If you manage to pass an exam, with both arms tied to your back, is that an achievement? Personally, it's all personal opinion (i think the person who did the exam would think so). Most F2Pers will say it is, most P2Pers say it isn't (they passed the same exam after all) ...
  4. Stating that F2Pers are scum is simply immature. It's not because they chose not to pay for member benefits, that they are freeloaders; they watch the ads after all (which pay for the features they have access to). But the F2Pers demanding updates are just as bad as the P2P victimizing F2Pers: F2P is free (hence the name) so they shouldn't expect updates ... It's like downloading a demo and constantly mailing the developers to ask them to release more parts of the game to the demo. They don't pay, I understand that and that's their choice, but then they should accept Jagex's decisions. Want more content? Become member.
  5. A strength ammy has +10 strength A fury ammy has +10 attack in everything, +15 defense in everything and +8 strength. Okay, you'll hit higher with a strength ammy, but no one is going to argue that a fury is overall better than a strength ammy. Accuracy is an often ignored part of combat: people just don't care if they hit "0,0,0,20,0" instead of "5, 15, 8, 10, 2". I use the power ammy, because it's overall better.
  6. It like paying to buy a blue partyhat instead of a green one ... They have the same bonuses (absolutely none LOL) and yet they have a different price (although the skirt weigh less and are actually better than legs!) Either save up to buy platelegs and be a nobody in the crowd, wear a skirt and pretend you are Scottish or pay a visit to the Make-over-mage to do a little corrective surgery. Personally I've worn a plateskirt as a guy for very long and no one ever said anything about it... (Now I switched my character to a girl and it looks better to wear skirts.) Anyway, there's nothing wrong with men wearing skirts (4 of the 6 Barrow BROTHERS wear skirts). Men wearing dresses however ...
  7. Here are the reasons I think Torag isn't very popular amongst players: - Torag is the easiest of the Barrow brothers and the armour is cheap => Torag is seen as a nooby. - The Torag Platebody looks weird: it looks like you are pregnant... - The set effect isn't impressive like the other melee Barrows: reducing run energy isn't as interesting as hitting an 80 or healing yourself. Possible solution:There are several Barrows item which have the same stats as the Torag items: * Torag helm is the same as Guthans and Verac Helm * Torag Platebody is the same as Guthans and Dharok Platbody * Torag Platelegs is the same as Verac and Dharok Platelegs You could replace your Torag with Guthans set, and keep the Torag legs as extra defense. This way, you'll be able to use the heal effect when you need to, and still have optimal defense. However, this will cost you ... It all boils down to how much you value other peoples opinion about what you wear. (Or you could mix around the Barrow armours...) You should know that pkers are a special kind of Runescape players and that they generally have no respect whatsoever for anyone who is different from them. They see defense as a bad thing, because it makes fights last long (harder to get hit and both sides hit less because of no extra attack bonuses) and are willing to laugh at anyone who thinks defense is important. Personally, I prefer high attack over high defense, because it means the fight will be over quicker (even though you get hit more and will need more food). I'm willing to pay to get the fight (usually with slayer monsters) over a little faster. But at no point will I laugh at someone else because they chose to have a different opinion...
  8. The filter doesn't bother me that much. The only reasons I see you would want to remove the filter is either because you want people to see your swears, or you are sick of the filter blocking where it shouldn't. As long as you stay mature in the game, the first option shouldn't be a problem. But the second one, is, especially if you speak another language. When I speak Dutch (or rather Flemish) to some of my lesser-mature friends that don't English enough yet, a lot of innocent words get censored out for no reason (e.g. "Kunt ge" = "Can you" - you can obviously see what word I mean). Possible solution: A possibility to report bad censored out words (if there isn't one already) and maybe an option to let the censor change according to what language you speak (a menu where you can check all the languages you speak, so the words in those languages won't be censored). Another problem would be to verify that you actually do speak the languages you selected...
  9. I agree that F2P has almost no idea what members is like until you start coughing up those $5 each month. It's for that reason they installed the Lumbridge Gnomecopters, so they can get a look at what's going on down there. But, I don't think making skills open to F2P would help ... it would just become another F2P skill (with member benefits) and change nothing to how they see members. I would suggest giving each account a one-time 2/3/5-trial, so that can check out what it's really like. However, there would have to be restrictions, to stop cheaters and RWT from getting into members for free. They could even expand it by allowing 1 day of members each 4 months (3 days per year).
  10. 1) Some items, which are categorized as junk by some might be very useful for others (takes summoning scrolls for example). If someone made these scrolls to make money and the prices went down, they would lose a large amount of money. I don't think you should deal with the "junk" part, because it's easily replaceable, but more with the "trading". For example: if each player can only offer 1 kind of item, you wouldn't be able to junk trade. 2) Are you saying you don't know? I think the best way to approach this problem is to divide it into all the possibilities they have to transfer money. Currently, I got 2 of them, but I'm sure there are more ways than that. We should try to find more ways before we begin suggesting solutions. 3) There's always a solution! Obviously, it will have to change the way the prices are decided, so that you can't control them on your own, or with a large group. Maybe, Jagex could create extra items on the GE if they were taking out massively. This way, there would be some supply, and the demand wouldn't be as high.
  11. Hello, this is a topic to discuss the problems with the economy and find possible solutions to them. 1) Junk trading: Problem: People are using junk items to make rare items like animal masks and 3rd age armour more expensive. This is the most common way to bypass the trade limit. It also allows Real World Trading (buy a junk item for lowest, then sell it to the macroer for middle price, he put it in GE for lowest price and you repeat). Possible solution: 2) Real World Trading: Problem: Even though Jagex released the trade limit and deleted the PvP Wilderness, RWT is still possible; either through junk trading, or through Bounty Hunter (if you know any other ways, please post them). This leads to macroing and all the problems that follow. Possible solution: 3) Price manipulation: Problem: Groups of very wealthy people buy up entire stocks of items, in order to make the price of those items rise. Then they either wait for the price to rise, or they use junk trading via the forums to sell for double the price. Possible solution:
  12. I just thought of something and decided to make a new debate, discussing the problem of the economy seperatly. This thread is closed.
  13. - This will be no different from The Grand Exchange. The only thing disappearing is the actual player-to-player trading and the marketplace forums. - I think Jagex know best what should and shouldn't be worth a lot; it's their game after all. - With infinite stock and instant trades, this wouldn't be an issue. - Actually, there would be a lot of items who would never shift, if Jagex controlled prices. - I'd say that's actually an upside (but that's my opinion and for another debate); by the way there wouldn't be an economy left.
  14. I find it rather sad, trying to get a GF on an online game, and it's only right that it's against the rules. Personally, I have a female Runescape character, while in real life, I'm a guy. I've had people coming up to me saying "I'm hot". The best way to handle this is to say you're a guy and they'll leave.
  15. Personally I'd use Scimitar, because I think it's better to hit a little faster and a little less hard.
  16. CLOSED. Please lock/remove this. Note: this is supposed to be a constructive debate, which means you can't just disagree without mentioning counterarguments (reasons why this wouldn't work). Introduction: Hello and welcome to my debate to replace player-to-player trades. Please don't let yourself be carried away by your emotions and try to stay objective and rational. If you want to add some upsides or downsides to the list, make sure it's in an organized post, or I might miss them. Suggestion: I want to replace player-to-player trades with player-to-Jagex trades only. There would be no remaining way to trade between 2 players (this does not include giving away items). Most features that are used to trade now will remain, but changed in a way that they don't allow direct trading (items of one player for the items of another player). The Grand Exchange would no longer transfer items between players, but it would exchange your items for cash (or vice versa) instantly, for a fixed price, decided by Jagex (they retain the right to change prices when new updates get released). The Trade option would be renamed the 'Give' option and could be used to donate items to other players within the trade limit (I got a question here - check hide). This could be used for questing or monster hunting. Upsides (Pro): [*:n3bm9l1k] Instant Trades: No more waiting for your things to sell or buy. [*:n3bm9l1k] No more RWT: if you can't trade, how can you transfer large amounts of money? [*:n3bm9l1k] No more price manipulating: the prices will be controlled by Jagex. [*:n3bm9l1k] Downside (Contra): [*:n3bm9l1k] There, you can now start debating about the up/downsides of this update. I also would like to ask you to use my tip make your quotes smaller (check my sig), so I can save some thread space.
  17. Even party hats can be usefull, you know? It's not because an item doesn't have any direct or physical advantages, it might have social advantages (like wearing a tuxedo to get into a fancy party). Wearing a Santa might persuade others to respect you, which could lead to other advantages. there's more to these items than meets the eye. Personally, I don't really care about those social advantages and I'd rather see them disappear. You'll never see me wearing such a ridiculous mask (haloween or animal), just because they look good ... It all boils down to: how much do you value the importance of what other people think? It's the answer to this question that'll mainly determine, what you wear, where you go and how you act. Ps: You asked "why wear tassets?". Well, because they have a strength bonus ;) .
  18. Should be "except it reduces attack". I think you were already thinking of the ranging you were going to mention later on.
  19. I think the way the familiars are set up now is better. Just one thing: add the level in front of the familiar name (e.g. "68 - Bunyip" instead of "Bunyip (68)") and remove the titles like "novice familiars" to make it shorter. You could add a list of familiars from best to worse at the top, in a hide. PS: Don't forget to make your hides shorter ;-).
  20. ... that non-members can fish their Lobsters, Tuna and Swordfish now a LOT faster using the Bounty Hunter bank and the Fishing spots on the eastern shore of the Wilderness? Just be sure to protect yourself as this area is teeming with Revenants. (Thanks to The Tal Shiar Alliance!) Isn't it even faster to use both Games Necklase and Explorer's ring? Just tele to cabbage field, and take the boat. After you're done fishing, teleport to Bounty Hunter, bank and repeat.
  21. Poll: Omit most of them and keep only the ones that aren't straightforward or make a lot of money.
  22. Isn't it "Recommended" instead of "Reccommened"? You misspelled it in the first part of the "How to obtain Seconds" section. (Luckily, you can copy it to Word and replace it all in 1 go, or you would lose a LOT of time!)
