With this being on such a subjective scale, I really can't rate myself. I type on runescape just like I do here, if that gives a level of the degree of grammar/spelling/effort or whatever.

The real pure problem was fixed with the release of rs2. They're not even exactly unfair anymore imo. I think people just like to play the "jagex hates me because I'm "X" card.

Do some research ;) Who ever made that cartoon has really bad grammer. I'm not seeing any issues. Except for your own criticism. You spelled grammar wrong. That's why I love how it's spelled. People try to criticize grammar and end up spelling the word wrong. Here's a new one about the wii forecast channel. Not going to put the tags because of the language: http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2006/20061220.jpg

2 was racist initself. As long as you're making any classification either good or bad about a race, you're encouraging the root of the problem: Categorization. My earlier comment seemed to be ignored, but it was the only one that I've ever seen offer a solution to racism. Of course in theory I think it'd work, but human nature likes to generalize and classify. That is - actually drop the acknowledgment of race. Stop categorizing. Nobody's black, nobody's white. We're just shades and hues. Until the world takes that viewpoint, racism will always exist, and programs to stop racism will mostly just add fuel to the fire because they all acknowledge race in the first place. In order to stop racism race must no longer be a word or idea.

We probably should get a new thread for this(unless I missed it?), but anyways, for all you wii owners, the forecast channel is out now. And don't miss the awesome globe feature. You can spin it around and zoom in and out and everything. :P

As long as race is acknowledged as a type of categorization racism will exist. As long as we have programs to help 'promote diversity' and programs like affirmative action based on race, racism will still exist. It won't go away until we lose the concept of categorization by skin color.

They're hoping because there's reason to. What you said alone is evidence for having a reason to believe that you can make it to help through cancer. The majority of people know that in cases of struggle, hoping helps on a psychological level, which translates to a physical level. Obviously if you give up you have less of a chance of making it than someone who is trying to get through it. Again, the difference is the evidence. Astra, you made an excellent point, and I'd like to try to address it, but I've got to get to sleep now. Later I'll see what I can do. :P

If you're replying to what I said, learn to read. I never said they were the same. It's called analogy.

well, i never was the greatest goalkeeper at my high school...we were the best team in the state 2 years running...so i guess i can't complain. but i never started, but did i ever give up at practice? na, i kept having hope that eventually my coach would put me in or give me 2nd string..and it finally paid off so i feel in the beginning every1 needs faith ad hope to make it somewhere...unless you're a spoiled 16 year old on mtv having a show about your birthday party that costs more than my house Well in that case you have evidence. You had a goal to work to, and you knew if you reached a certain level you could get there. The difference in this case was a level of certainty you had. You knew if you would reach a goal, an end result would happen.

I think faith and hope are important for people who are struggling in life, but for people who aren't, I don't see how faith and hope would keep you living?

Eh, I'd say it was pretty mediocre. But mediocrity's the norm for jagex with most updates.

I was watching a video Richard Dawkins was on. He was talking about faith. He said that one of the problems we're faced with is that children from an early age are taught that faith is a virtue. Faith is basically accepting something to be true without needing evidence. Now please don't take this as a religion thread - I don't want it going there. I'm solely asking the question: should faith be considered a virtue? He went on to explain how faith causes so many problems in the world, mostly with extremists. Extremists blindly accept a notion like suicide bombing resulting in getting tons of virgins in an afterlife. I'm not talking only about extremists, just asking the question whether or not children should be taught that it's a good thing to be taught not to need proof of something to believe in it. Obviously for religion you need faith - but the problem I see is that this carries on to other things, like the common saying, "Come on! Have some faith!" Or people just accepting things without any proof - aside from religion. Maybe the world would be a better place if people were taught to question things and seek out truth instead of believing propaganda and advertisements. I know I'm bouncing all of the place with ideas in an unorganized matter as usual, but another point is the Holocaust. In middle eastern countries, many people are brainwashed to think the Holocaust never occurred - most haven't even heard of it. They obviously accept this. If someone was to say that it has occurred, they would argue against it without any proof on other side. Only faith in what they've heard. So back to the original question. Should faith be considered a virtue? I know I've giving tons of argument to one side, and I'd like to hear some opposing ideas.

You're allowed to lie, it just depends on the context. I mean in real life it's not against the law to lie in some cases, but some cases it is. If someone catches you on tape confessing to a crime, that could be used as evidence. It's just up to the courts to determine if the evidence is valid. With jagex, it's up to them to tell if you were being sarcastic or not when referring to breaking a rule. From what I've seen with ban cases, they don't acknowledge sarcasm often, like you said. So I'd go back to my initial statement: It depends on the case. Assume you're always being tape recorded, and whatever you say goes to an incompetent judge.

Either way, the person's motivation for doing either is for him/herself. People wouldn't give gifts if it didn't make them feel good - the same result as getting them. I happen to feel better receiving gifts than giving them.

I had a lot of fun making environments where they would cycle on their own. I can't really remember what I did too well since it was a few months ago, but I think I divided the game into three parts with the ground tool, and set up a fountain somewhere. I had grass that would absorb and take over all the water, and somewhere there was a flame that would never run out that the grass would eventually reach and get burned out. The water would pour again, and eventually would reach some small remnant of the grass, which would spread and get burnt again. I just thought creating that kind of a cycle that ran on its own was fun. Just the whole control over any kind of scenario with whatever you want to mix is a fun thing to do.

There is no goal. You just simulate random things mixed together and enjoy the physics engine behind it all.

I played that game before on a different site over the summer. It's really addicting, and I love the open-endedness of it. I remember there being a thread about this game awhile ago, but I couldn't find it. There were some pretty cool pictures.

It's not even about drama. There are some users that see regular debate/argument and think that there's something bad going on when two people are disagreeing and disproving each other's points. That's what debate's all about. Sure, we have our "what's your favorite" threads, and your "what should I do about this...?" threads, but nothing beats a thread where you can actually argue a point. The drama you're talking about isn't needed. People don't need to personally flame each other. Most of the time we don't have issues with that. But regular argument isn't drama, as long as people don't get emotionally involved.

Wow congratulations! What is your number one choice? Most likely U of M - maybe State if I get any good scholarship.

I don't have anxiety attacks, but I know what you're talking about. I have a light case of ibs, and it's mostly triggered about thinking about ibs happening. That whole circle of it being in your head is really annoying, since you know it's your own irrational fear that triggers it in the first place. You know it's not going to happen naturally, but the fact that your mind fears it triggers it.

I got into the University of Michigan. :P Also got into Wayne State in Detroit, and waiting for Michigan State's response, although I know I'll be accepted there.

haha even though judaism was the 1st religon (or at least older than christians) I'm assuming by minor, he meant by the amount of people who practice it worldwide. In terms of its significance and impact on the world, it's enormous.

Statistically, the average person shouldn't really know Jews exist, since we're such a minority. But here's why I love this quote by Mark Twain: Anyway, back on the main topic. Tonight I got this bad boy for the big screen: I already got the Wii which went to Hannukah, so I'm not getting much else.

I've been on the news a few times, never talking, but in the camera shot. A few weeks ago I was shadowing the floor manager for a PBS telethon and was on the edge of some shots.

When you decide to blow up, make sure I'm in another country :P How do I view myself..? I think 'About Me" is a little better title for this.. Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm emo but not the stereotype. I surpress a lot of my feelings and let them out through art rather than physically or vocally. You can't classify me by the music I listen to because I listen to a little bit of everything. I usually have a fairly optimistic outlook on life. I hate having a routine and enjoy change/things to be spontaneous. I've always thought calling yourself emo meant you're acknowledging being the stereotype. What is emo about you? Because it doesn't really sound like you are.
