  1. Suddenly everyone feels like they are an economics authority (clearly not the first person to say this, might I add). The only relevent issue would be the amount of xp gained and levels gained. Then again Jagex has been veering towards skill concepts that force people to train rather than buy/afk train a skill. No more make X crap... We have skills like hunter, construction, farming, slayer (more so with strykewyrms because of their special attack), and runecrafting that require a degree of interaction. Because of this change in game play they can afford to do bonus xp weekends. Also Jagex has made it clear they are more focused on the long term play rather than the usual end-game play aspect most games like WoW assume so they can and should be able to get away with bonus xp periods. Thats not to say they aren't focused on end game type material (nomads reqium, corporial beast, etc.).
  2. Sorry if this seems like I'm blowing my horn by posting all this, but I'm very interested in how everyones training during the weekend will play out. I'm intrigued to see what lengths people go through to train skills on these bonus xp weekends. I imagine seeing many more people training skills that are very rough on the pocketbook and/or your mental capacity by using the more expensive methods to get the most bang for their buck. Such methods as crafting via dragonhide, runecrafing via tiara crafting, farming via preplanted calquat, mage trees and palm trees, construction via mahogany would seem much more popular on these days since the xp/gp spent would eclipse the normal day xp/gp expendeture. In all honesty this looks like jagex's version of the economic stimulus check to its players. If Jagex manages to get its players to keep the mentality that another bonus xp weekend is looming on the horizon it may get players to push the demand for more of the less conventional training methods. Jagex's seems to like spicing things up and with that why not kill another bird with the same stone by helping jumpstart the economy with a limited timeframe where you can obtain bonus xp. Hell I'll be honest I've got everything a decent player needs to go boss hunting, skill training, do minigames (dragon hatchet for woodcutting, the ring and gloves for firemaking, dragon pickaxe for mining, varrock armour 3 and goldsmith gauntlets for smithing, agile clothes plus the other tidbits for runecrafting (pouches included) and agility, magic secateurs for farming, torags top, bottom, whip, DFS, dragon boots, barrows gloves, amulet of fury, fire cape, red cape, proselyte top and bottom, book of zamorak for melee and prayer tanking, zamorakian spear for dragon tasks, slayer helmet for slayer and camping slayer creatures). *gasps for breath*... I managed to collect 35m from training slayer and collecting charms along the way. Just recently on the 25th I got a staff of light drop putting me at 51.9m gp and two days later a visage drop (ironically on the last iron kill.) putting me at 86.5m gp. My point is that players like me are running out of things they feel they need to buy. I must've spent the past few months trying to figure out why I wanted to buy a bandos godsword or dragon claws... I was just looking for a way to lose my money. For your information I don't like spending my money on skills if I know I'll lose money doing it. I look at it as a last ditch effort (35m on 82-90 construction hurt and 90+ crafting is going to be a black spot in my "rs career"). For those interested here are my plan on 93-96 summoning. If I manage the charms for 97 I'll be amazed. Starting xp (level 93) - 7,412,692 Ending xp (level 96) - 9,684,577 Difference in xp: 2,271,885 Charms collected: Gold: 1090 Green: 1184 Crimson: 1128 Blue: 336 XP per Pouch Barker Toad: 87 Unicorn Stallion: 154.4 Wolpertinger: 404.8 Lava Titan: 730.4 Pouches per hour: 1500 Hour 1 - 2.7x 336 Blue - 662,618 582 Crimson - 636,102 Hour 2 - 2.5x 570 Crimson - 576,840 360 Green - 138,960 Hour 3 - 2.25x 824 Green - 286,257 676 Gold - 132,327 Hour 4 - 1.75x 414 Gold - 63,031 Total XP gained: 2,496,135
  3. Using spirit kyatt pouches and rings of dueling how many pouches can someone make in an hour? Assuming your making something that doesn't require a fourth ingrdient like wolpertingers. Edit: Apparently people can do 1800-2200+ pouches an hour. For the sake of any errors I'll use 1500 pouches an hour as my base.
  4. I was wondering if anyone would point this out... Torags offers the best defense. TBH I have 16-20m in the bank and was wondering what I should get/save for.
  5. I might've missed it, but I think Tip.it needs to put that chart up on their Summoning Skill Guide.
  6. Oh man I just realized I could turn them in for the 70% shard return. Wolpertinger pouches take 92 summoning to make. I must be +1 summoning level to turn in pouches that take anywhere between 91-98 to summon. Basically I need 92+1 summoning to turn in... I'm 93. I'm the noobiest high level ever :P.
  7. How do I get rid of them? They wont sell in the GE. I'm 93 summoning. I really want to sell them properly or get shards because there is at least 3.8m sitting there.
  8. I was wondering if anyone would speak up about this; yes it is. I just got the 93 summoning requirement and completed it. Being an insanely high level player I became fascinated by reaching this new goal so I did a few teleports showing my family what the teleport looks like. From the discription I believe it is the ardy cape 3 teleport.
  9. All a defender needs to do is go from the cave mouth with poisoned foot constantly WALKING and DROPPING them as they walk to and from one of the traps. The trick is to grab the two logs and hammer after the initial run to repair it when he'she returns after a couple more runs of dropping. Quite possibly the easiest roll besides healer to be honest.
  10. 82 hunter and farming. Yuck.
  11. By the time they figure this out you have plenty of time to finish the act........ You'd be amazed at how much time someone contemplates suicide before they do it. The majority of the time its all in their head and they very rarely make hints towards how low they are feeling about themselves. Thats why when someone hears something like this they jump the gun because they don't know when they'll actually successfully go through with it.
  12. The police are usually sent out to prevent someone from harming someone else (i.e. domestic dispute). The lawmakers have realized long ago that sometimes your mind doesn't want to go on any more and wants to kill itself to spare itself from the agony and at the same time the body has a desire to live on and procreate (have kids). These two come under a struggle between life and death during contimplations of suicide. The police are there to assure your body wins by helping you in any way they can. You are loved by someone, though you may not see it and you could be emotionally harming someone else with your actions who may in turn have suicidal thoughts later on down the road because of that incident. Basically the police feel its necessary because there are conciquences for your actions and all you are thinking about is releasing yourself from your mental pain. What some of the younger people don't get is that everyone has their own emotional woes and torments. It may not sound justified to say the person who attempts or does succeed in committing suicide is selfish, but its true. My father died when I was young, both my grandfathers are dead too, but I trudge on. People tell you to live life to the fullest... Though the subject isn't really hit on much, but that also means understanding the value of a life; both yours and those around you. The game of life has a cheat sheet engraved on its underside and it reads: learn how to cope.
  13. Don't look at lives as numbers. You always get that one person saying something along the lines of "oh its only one out of so many" and it fans the flames for thosewho care that much more. Regardless of how many you save your concern should be that one life in that particular situation.
  14. Also, unless they were using a prepaid card, their mailing address would be in the billing information. Just to clarify peoples thoughts on how Jagex might have gotten this kind of information... Most businesses have a policy that states something along the lines of that if someones life is endangered and the are withholding information that could help prevent them from being harmed they are obliged to give it up. If anyone is taking psychology classes you'll hear some tid bits about this kind of stuff. Businesses try to practice these moral and ethical standpoints because its a great disservice to the community to not show concern over another humans life (in business terms it ruins your reputation and makes you look like another careless/heartless business).
  15. Taking things literally, as jagex should with these matters, if you say, "I'm going to harm myself" your 'personal life' does not exist any more to them because society puts the value of your life over any other posessions you have. They are well aware of the tolls games like these can take on serious players. They are also well aware of what players invest into these games (such as time and money). You are automatically assumed to be a hazard to your own life when you are caught saying such things in their game. When it comes to teenagers and even young adults its become the norm to jokingly say comments like "omg I'm going to kill myself." What they fail to realize is that there are people who don't see into those jokes like others do. There are also people just the same who say it and it may seem like a joke and everyone else laughs and that person may feel even more vindicated, but they literally mean every word. Also I'm sure one thing jagex takes into consideration which most others don't is the fact teenagers and young adults are the most hormonally imbalanced, emotional and irrationally thinking age group over all others.
  16. In response to and in light of the release of the beastiary database update: Are we going to see this coming eventually?
  17. The update that hurt me the most is Nomads Requiem. I like skilling and combat, but I am not very experienced with rehersed fights. I ended up losing a couple million gp due to having to learn how to handle him and keeping up my supplies for doing multiple runs. I like the fact Jagex is taking it a step further like other MMO's with rehersed boss fights (tztok-jad, corporeal beast and now nomad), but damn I think they need to allow more movement time in between the bosses 'special attacks' or changes in their 'style' of attack for players or else they are going to find the simplest route to killing it which is most often tanking the enemy with protection prayers and as much healing as possible. Their best rehersal fight in my opinion was the corporeal beast with its attacks and the dark core. Well, of course people just cannon the dark cores, but it was the thought that counted. For example imagine 5 man teams killing it: 1 man dedicated to hunting the core, 1 man to tank the fight (getsthe bosses initial attention, and during down-time gets food sacrifices, extra pots, etc.) and 3 attackers (geared to deal the fastest and most damage), I've seen similar tactics with the god wars dugneon bosses, bandos in most particular, but I believe thats done more for efficiency and kills than survival.
  18. Mine your own pure essence and runecraft. I know its not appealing, but you'd be amazed at what a low level runecrafter can rake in. If you mine and runecraft 1000 pure essence into natures you'd make nearly 265k selling it. At 54 runecrafting do law runes to sell for 100 gp/ea more. If you refuse to do that then I'd advise slayer. The unique slayer monster drops wont get profitable until you get into the 70's, but everything else that drops most likely will. If thats not appealing I suggest you train woodcutting along with fletching and sell your wares or do some fishing and cook them and sell the food off.
  19. My room mate is currently buying 100 of each battlestaff, runecrafting her own natures and alching them. If you runecraft your own natures you come out with a bit of profit.
  20. Personally this is one of those slayer tasks that makes unicorns and guthans very valuable because your constantly getting hit by the terror dogs and they are very accurate hitters. A lot of people say guthans is old school and out of date, but I see nothing wrong with using it to do two tasks at once (killing and healing yourself). Just be sure to use guthans all the time with an inventory of food to fill in if you are a considerably low level player. EDIT: Oh your ahigh level player. Just camp with guthans until aggro wears off and switch to a slayer helm+whip+DFS or something.
  21. If you choose to convert make them into scrolls first to get as much summoning xp as possible. This is preferably done while you are making the pouches so you don't need to bank, you get more xp and can be turned in without noting them.
  22. Any idea how long it would take to do 54k oak planks doing dungeon doors using the butler? By the way thats 5400 dungeon doors and the butler can hold 20 planks. I'm curious because after I get 92 summoning I'm going to get 80-90 construction doing this.
  23. What about abyssal titans at 93 instead of unicorns? 7.8 more xp per pouch, costs 27 shards less, and the 2nd ingredient comes from abyssal creatures.
