  1. Well yeah, that's pretty much it. We don't know what's right, so we'll just keep doing everything else in the meanwhile. May as well make the bottom line while we're at it.
  2. I'm not sure if they're either just really oblivious to common sense, or so married to the idea that they can do anything they want to as long as they appear to be concerned with our reactions, then record them, say a few cursory words or make a few token actions, then close the discussion completely and proceed as if nothing happened. I'm beginning to think it's the latter.
  3. Same. I was walking around town with the base elemental body hoping to confuse some newbies.
  4. Wasn't expecting anything spectacular. They'd need to raise the requirements a lot more for that. I do enjoy the puzzles. Don't really care if the next one is "soul" or not, but that does seem like a natural progression. The tops are a nice costume piece though. Ardzik, you need to link to the gears above the counters to unlock blocks. The lower ones just wind up the counters. The top center gear raises and lowers the center pillar, and once the pillar is lowered, it needs to have all three gears contained in it moving at the same time to charge it up (three different sides, all three heights, you're going to have to figure out where the bottom one is facing by moving the other blocks away from it). After that, the pillar needs to be raised again to link to the chamber above. You can find out what height a gear is at by examining it, although that won't help you much with the center pillar...
  5. Well, consider this a warm up to wherever this thing is going to end. Somewhere along the way, you might go insane but at least you'll look pretty cool once the whole suit is completed. I wonder what eventually happened with the assistant though. Perhaps the answer lies behind that rock pile in the tunnel?
  6. Well....they don't HAVE to play on these other worlds, so I don't see how it would affect them much. What would really make it interesting is if they took the chance to rework the existing game they have now to bring it more into balance under the premise that a new server wouldn't have the same heavy shackles and baggage that the "old day's" standards have bound us to. Then in a few months we would find out if all of Runescape could be changed to survive in today's gaming environment without people thinking that it would be ruined forever. Then we can get the heck outta the stone age. What I'm trying to say is that I wish I didn't have to keep hiding the fact that I play this game and consider it to have some potential rather than something you do as a kid and then completely forget about it in middle school and make fun of for the rest of your life should it ever come up. You know, like Neopets. Except that I actually stopped playing that and it's dead to me.
  7. Ah, well you know Jagex, they like to make their puzzles simple but make the mechanisms extremely complicated or counterintuitive. Not a new occurrence. As for your run energy, unless you're really, really low on agility, between waiting for the machine to shift longer rows, thinking your moves ahead, and the fact that energy refills like candy compared to the old days, it shouldn't be an issue unless you're rushing across to the farther side all the time, instead of thinking "hey, I can operate it with two different switches, and THIS one is closer, so why don't I do that?"
  8. It's just a set of variable factors that change every time you enter. There's the number of rooms, all the available room types to choose from, and the rooms themselves have a set template and a large amount of "empty slots" for resources, which are distributed based on average levels, amount of players, and dungeon size. These resources have a minimum and maximum value range, and after choosing which ones appear, they are placed all over the dungeon in those empty slots. The rest of these slots are filled with random scenic junk, or in the case of trees, just already cut stumps. A similar distribution system exists for the skill stations which you use to prepare items, or in the case of the altar, refill your prayer. Same type of thing with monsters, except those dinosaurs that drop hides are considered a "resource" collectable by hunting traps. That's the short version.
  9. The side counter on the right that sets itself to 50 gives you 50 additional moves. The side counter on the left that jams gives you infinite moves. Obviously you want to go for that one as soon as you can. Wonder why somebody would go to such great lengths to install that kind of security measure though.
  10. Well I kind of grabbed all of the books on the way because I thought I'd make everything else while I was there. If you want to make a bunch of stuff, bring a stat restore. Hahaha.
  11. Same with any other thing, you just apply the bar to the anvil in the workshop. While the ragged book is still in your inventory. BTW Jagex could you let me put this stupid thing in my bookshelf? I don't want to have to carry it around all day or go back for another one.
  12. Eh....I didn't find it that hard. I just kept resetting after each go. I found it useful to use big shifts to push the most important pieces into place first and then haul the ones in between whenever I could. If you can't remember what height each thing is at I suggest using the "Examine" command more often. But hey check out this useless junk I just made: A few more colors and we can all be elemental power rangers or something.
  13. Well geez if you were expecting some kind of big fight I think you may have forgotten what this quest chain is about.
  14. When I read the phrases "body body" and "body bar" I giggle just the tiniest bit inside. I guess I may as well waste a paid month on this, since I enjoy sliding puzzles due to a mental affliction of some sort.
  15. Just a small thing, but there's gotta be a better way than having Jagex continue to make things that are not used because nobody wants it because it's worthless nobody uses it because it doesn't do anything useful the people who do want it can't get it because the means is very unrelated to their particular style of gameplay or the people who do have the means to get it don't want it. It's almost like that riddle, except instead of a clever answer, it results in unused content and wasted time. As if somebody at Jagex is trying as hard as possible to make the most useless things ever because that was their company's motto or something. "The less anybody cares about it, the cooler we think it is!" Or maybe "What our customers want, we strive to make utterly pointless and undesirable." Even "Create everything according to random ideas that we keep coming up with that have nothing to do with actual players." I apologize for the sarcasm.
  16. Heh, I guess the long term effects go farther than the immediate award. Figures they'd go and do this while I can't play, though...
  17. Aw. I guess nobody read my other post. Anyway adding two things: Bonecrusher for f2p yes. I was just thinking about it in fact. Why make something that f2p would want very much, but then hand it over to a member who doesn't give a rip about it when they can use their already superior methods of prayer training already? This applies to many things in general. Just backwards logic everywhere. What a mess. Jagex doesn't seem to have a good enough handle on their individual employees to the point where they start contradicting each other within the same Q&A! Either they need to get their facts straight, or they're still doing things the same way and haven't changed their actual company policy at all.
  18. Hm. To the most recent post: giving F2P a "taste" would get split reactions. Dungeoneering is pretty much this. At the deeper levels you see more and more member skill puzzles. And then there was the exp shift. To limit players of identical abilities in identical situations based on if they pay or not is pretty much the direct opposite of what they said they were doing. This is the part where I rattle off my obligatory rant towards the general RS community being luddites. Feel free to skip to the next section if you have heard it and are bored to death by it. Okay, assuming you read or paid attention to any of that, here's my point. Why would fixing the f2p game or giving them minor content that goes unnoticed by a majority of members be so bad for you, the member who doesn't give a rip about ANY of this content that you have access to but don't use at all? I mean seriously who the heck uses fletching for anything meaningful outside of Stealing Creation or Dungeoneering? I want to hear you honestly say "Fletching is the best skill ever! I use it every day, it's a good, constant direct source of money for me, and the market isn't totally flooded with bows that nobody will ever use!" Go on. SAY IT. ... I'M WAITING. Every second you don't say anything, Jagex continues to make updates that you hate!
  19. I think they themselves are kind of unsure about what they're planning to do next. They have a bunch of ideas but the plans are not concrete. Which is why they can't give us any answers regarding such. They don't really have them. Either way it's been a mostly positive step for them to be doing things that aren't boring ol RS conventional, and here's hoping that they consider their current near-success a positive indicator that is more than just "we'll do more of these if we happen to decide to do more of these". Also perhaps they might figure out combat rebalancing once and for all, and not just think it was a pipe dream to be able to bring about order. It would be such a shame and a waste (in that order) if they really think that when they rebuilt RS inside a dark hole in the ground free of the outside factors that they perceive to be holding them back from making progress, they would not be able to use any of that for their existing game. .... Seriously I'm begging here. Please put something back into RS. It is an oppressive purgatory, and any mention of it brings immediate derision and shame. I feel the potential from this circling the drain.
  20. I'm assuming most skeletons are weak to crush, but what are zombies weak to?
  21. I'm not believing anybody's claims until I see hard proof that somebody has paid just for the banner and plans to get rid of the ticket instead of using it.
  22. Short term effective perhaps. This probably reflects on Jagex as a whole. While people may not remember any particular transgression outside of the most famous ones, it is a long history of poor decisions that breeds contempt, and the only way to reverse this trend is to create a new history of trust and understanding. Unfortunately at the moment I have no idea if anybody in power actually reads any of this or cares. It is freaky when you know that they could be lurking at any particular moment and we have no idea about it.
  23. I would like to pretend that ignorance makes the situation better, but at this point if we are to become better people (which I have made numerous statements to the effect that I highly doubt it will happen anyway), trying to hide it won't solve anything. Also, seeing as these banners will be planted around the game, the more people see the banners, the more people will know, and question, and completely get the wrong idea. Why wait for people to find out and invent exciting new misconceptions? Just freaking nip this in the bud now and move on. If people don't know what's going on and something more visible happens later that has at least a vague connection to this, there will only be more of a mess to clean up.
  24. I think the best thing would be for them to state their intentions, apologize for the confusion and their lapse of judgment preceding it, and learn from this. On the announcements. Also I am kind of disappointed in everybody.
  25. I'm not sure how they would modify it should somebody visit more than one convention though. I kind of feel that we are past the whole "Jagex is stupid" point and we need to figure out a way to make sure that our words actually mean anything at all. EDIT: My analogy wasn't very subtle. Kind of just slapping nametags on things. Also of course there is something larger at stake here but at the moment I'd like to keep things small and plan to work up from there.
