Champions' Challenge - more than meets the eye?
That brings up another point. Rich high people aren't necessarily bad, and most have probably played long or built up personal experience in doing all these things in order to obtain top-notch equipment and large amounts of wealth. Attacking their character based on wide generalizations is silly, and saying that you deserve to be able to obtain better stuff than them and spit in the face of all that effort it must have taken (unless they somehow cheated it out of others AND WHAT OTHER WAY IS THERE TO GET RICH AMIRITE  ) through a not that fun minigame made only for the sense of accomplishment instead of destroying everything that Runescape is based on? Now that's funny. I agree that high levels shouldn't be required for fun, but neither is ripping on high leveled people.

I mostly blame this on lack of recent interesting subject material. It's too bad none of that ever comes up because the game's fanbase is insane.

Champions' Challenge - more than meets the eye?
WARNING: I have a big head and think highly of myself regardless of evidence to the contrary, and now want to peel off on a bender. This leads to TL;DR. I've handily crushed all the words down so you don't have to read them. So skip if you want to. - Stop fighting, you're making my head hurt. Both sides are not getting through to each other. Sit down and think this through the other guy's shoes. Why would he say that? What if he was right? How could I be possibly wrong in what I'm trying? In addition to being like Batman, this also helps you figure out what you're doing with yourself. - This minigame was never intended to be more than a small thing that you might do if you're bored. Stop trying to make it bigger. Spread fun across the board for everybody; not everybody wants to do that one thing you're doing even though you think you can convert people to your religi-sorry about that, was another rant for another time. Making things fun and forcing people to do things your way are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Ignore the fact that I'm trying to get you to do things my way because I think it'd be better off for everybody. - We should be spending our efforts towards supporting richer gameplay rather than richer characters. Making more gear only postpones the inevitable emptiness in the soul, while making things fun without the pressure to "do better or quit" (pick a side we're at war!) could solve many problems, and perhaps encouraging less trolling as an indirect result. The thought of that happening fills me with derision, though. Maybe we can have nice things-no wait, maybe we can have a nice GAME if we didn't handle everything as a one-off problem with only minor tweaks to be made.

09-Nov-2009 - Champions Challenge Update and Hairstyles
So, not the same reason why I set ducks on fire at the fishing guild? "Mon canard est feu!" It would be hilarious if there was a duck champion (evil ducks hahaha), but the scrolls would get all soggy. :D But....seriously, how could you call all of these changes crappy? I mean, unless you're expecting some sort of ridiculous epic update, these ones take care of a bunch of annoying inconveniences that I wouldn't want back. What game are you playing anyway that's so great? As for the skiller worlds, those two are just a "pilot test" so to speak, they appear to be planning to either remove or expand on the idea based on the resulting feedback.

Items Kept on Death
I'm mostly disconcerted by how easily accepted it is that the death value system is kind of outdated and that it is an acceptable risk that the game contains a major logic flaw and to just live with it. It's like one day, a giant rift that spews forth demons ripped forth from the ether, and years later, the locals are about to hold the 39th annual Humans vs Demons baseball match. It occurs to me that an alch price can be raised above items with actual store values, yet still remain far below their street value for this item and still favor protection for it over the other. It also occurs to me that people should just be able to CHOOSE which items to protect. :P

03-Nov-2009 - Golden Joystick Awards Thank You
It's weird to think that they're not part of the old boy's club already, this game's really old by relative standards.....but I guess nobody really expects much of them due to people dishing on their reputation. Well, I guess they're part of the club. They'll never let them past the reception area, though. :D Hopefully they do something right for once soon.

Inside Jagex Games Studio 28th October
Sounds like a blast. I'm still disappointed that nobody got kicked in the groin (fake, of course), but it seems like they have things under control. Concerns that they have been producing updates at a less than optimal speed are entirely unfounded, and I have the fullest confidence that QA are not missing their brains at all.

Impetuous Impulses
Well, I wouldn't argue with making the overworld imps higher XP. They're spread out really far, so it would take a while to hunt them down on purpose, plus the whole "flying over impassable obstacles" thing. I've found that the main hassle of hunting with a net is that the catches don't stack so you have to keep running back and forth between the bank and the catching area.

PvP & Potions - From the RSOF
First question: do all the other potions show when you're using them? We should get rid of those potions too, if that is true. Second question: how large is the difference between somebody using a super and somebody using an X? Is this gap noticeable? What if somebody is not using any potions and somebody else is using a super? Would that be unbalanced? Sounds implausible that such situations would happen in any universe at all! Third question: should we just remove Herblore already and give up acting like we respect anybody who trains anything other than combat skills?

26-Oct-09 H'ween Update
I always feel dismayed whenever I see that they have decided to use a large obstacle course for the quest, but at least it beats agility training. :P

Cash is Junk
To simply what I was saying, it's not that it won't remove currency, it's that people will start trying to create MORE money to keep up. A tax is only a temporary fix to a much larger economical imbalance.
-
Cash is Junk
While this would reduce the money of everybody, I'm not sure if it would happen proportionately to the effect that it would just jack prices up because people have to raise them higher in order to make the amount of money that they want to the point where the tax becomes meaningless because it's the PEOPLE that dictate the actual supply of money through their efforts. Plus, the tax would never be able to do it by itself. The money sucking measures would have to be introduced in a collector's set.

Found a smoking mils interview
(I considered not posting this at all like I happen to do for 80 percent of any posts I write, but this time I am going to post this. I don't care about ignoring this any longer.) Although I think that it is likely that you are correct in that the article is just padding out his false Santa suit, I would like to see some sort of investigative report on these activities before I can bring my judgement to bear. Thing is, I can't really see how it's wrong when everybody agrees to this behavior on some level. Oh, so he's stealing from everybody in Runescape, and is justifying it by saying "it's just a little." (Paraphrased.) But you're all GIVING IT TO HIM. If it really mattered to the point where you wanted him gone forever or dead or just maimed or whatnot, you would all be willing to just collectively stop playing the game altogether and ruin everything for them in the span of a month or so, then go back and continue in relative bliss. However, it is never that easy. I cannot blame him or his cohorts or all the copycats directly. There are always people to replace the villains of today: pointing fingers really doesn't do much at all. It is society as a whole that needs to learn about these behavior patterns and avoid them. This is unlikely in our lifetime. To an extent, everything takes some kind of effort to learn about. Just because it's easy to do something once you know how to do it doesn't make the learning part any easier. I could basically reduce every aspect of this game to the point where you could take each one, compare it to merchanting, and consider them both needing just as much equivalent effort. Runescape is built entirely on imaginary skill, with the few actual efforts being made whenever players are forced to compete with other players. By that scale, merchants are the master skillers, having gone so far as to not even use any of the "imaginary skill" you folks put so much stock in, and make everybody else willingly work for them. This is the kind of thing that criticizes people who have high herblore and gives the game over to "more honest PKers" who only train a few skills (the fewer skill types, the better! says pures) and profit from the "honest skillers that don't do combat" who AFK while fishing and chat with their friends. Apparently training herblore (or being able to afford it) gives an unfair advantage in combat, but when combat gives 90 percent of all useful things circulating in the game, including herbs, and skillers are forced to pay ridiculous prices for combat drops and constantly have their wares devalued by further combat drops containing their produce, plus have diminishing returns over time due to lack of demand, it is entirely okay. That is the thing about Runescape; somebody mentioned earlier somewhere that they liked the game because they are free to do anything without being locked into one type of gameplay. This is true in more ways than you can imagine. So why even bother complaining? Fight back! Merchants may work on a different set of rules than normal players, but those rules still exist, and if you break them, you will kill their joy as easily as they kill yours. I'm sure there are many people who are as fed up with merchants as there are greedy people. Organize them, find a way to take the merchants down, and destroy them like the slugs you compare them to. Or would that be too much work? Because when merchants do it, they're not putting any actual effort into it at all, are they? RIGHT?

20-Oct-2009 - Ardougne Achievement Diary
Wait, one of the tasks involves Meeting History? Isn't that kind of weird storywise? "In order for me to give you this reward, you must TRAVEL BACK IN TIME and cause A SERIES OF TIME PARADOXES." On the other hand, sweet cape.

16-Oct-2009 - Future Q&A Sessions
A more regular basis to them means January of next year, followed by perhaps one or two more of them? XD Having to answer these questions for more than once per four months must be really taxing on them. If they do any more, they may have to shut down several departments just to do it! Still, I guess it's better than their previous "STFU" policy.

But apparently when they release a weapon that makes all the other weapons look stupid, it's okay?

Tip.it Times 18 October 2009
Folks do know that you still need a good combat level in order to take advantage of the potion's full potential? To me, the herblore is just like a godsword that I can't afford but I deal with it because people accept it. But apparently the potions go too far. :P What about the Dark Bow and claws and barrage that combo with the potions to create these "unwinnable" scenarios? Why don't we irrationally punish them instead? Or people with training and tactics? They will BURRRRN FOR THEIR IMPUDENCE. To me, PvP just seems like too much trouble to be worth keeping in the game anymore. Frankly, the bully-ish culture attracts a lot of jerks who ruin it for the people who actually conduct themselves in a mature manner (which include a lot of PvPers, for you people who think "I Think All PvPers Are Jerks"), and although games are a place where we can tear around without being constrained by most of the rules of reality, at some point it's not really fun anymore. The concept of equivalent exchange has to be maintained to make PvP's nature "make sense" because otherwise it would unbalance everything (as seen in the recent months), yet the spectre of goldselling looms over Jagex so large that they are forced to make the rules irrational to throw them off. Having to wreck the entire game just to keep a portion of it preserved is silly and I'm sure there's some sort of witty metaphor I could use right now to make my point. It was fun while it lasted, but I consider it to be dead beyond saving. All the "solutions" we have so far end up causing something else to go entirely wrong. There isn't any point to this anymore.

Temple of Light: Sound Beams
If there are any creatures made out of crystal, technically we could just rip that bowl out of that chamber and sonic blast them back into seeds.

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
That would be quite impossible in the present, seeing as you meet them several ages before ours. They're all quite dead by now. Also, quite quite quite.

Tip.it Times 11 October 2009
Well, I could wish for the holding of at least one official lively but tedious public debate about any issue BEFORE they start making any changes, but that would be about as effective or feasible as wishing that a mystic MMG would appear in my living room, and then after his appearance, hopping on his back and majestically taking flight to the night sky as one-horned winged Gerhard lets off a magnificent whinny that echoes distantly in the mountains. EDIT: Are you guys going to continue staring at this post or is somebody going to say something?

Tip.it Times 11 October 2009
Well, if they don't vote or bother to pop into the website to vote, it's not like they can fault anybody else when something happens because of it and they don't like it. Unless, of course, Jagex gets it wrong somehow. #-o The alternative would be to start forcing players to give their opinion in order to log in, but that's not going to go over well.

Tip.it Times 11 October 2009
What, seriously? Whining does work. I mean, look what happened to extreme potions. In order to increase the chances of a successful whine, you have to be both extremely irritating in tandem, and more importantly, play into the flawed logic of their attitude, which means it's easier to make quick untested fixes to new features and then ignoring the situation entirely after that rather than to not do anything at all and look like you didn't try, or to actually look at it again within the next month or so and fix it properly. Heck, if they did the footwork and looked at the problem more critically, then made the changes with the additional foresight of actually including some concrete information rather than vague excuses about things being unbalanced and people being discouraged from PKing because of the theoretical possibility of a handful of people have both combat and herblore trained could be out there menacing the whole PK populace with their mighty seven additional levels of strength, while the other PKers are incapable of raising their own herblore levels or affording to do so because they only have their measly d claws or godswords and can't possibly pony up the money for herblore training. But moving back to the topic, I see that you have brought up one of my most favored but also most difficult plans to change things by uniting the people against wrongdoing to combat the ones who have united in order to perpetrate it. This will not likely happen until some unforgivable transgression has occurred, and by then it will be too late to actually fix the problem without a sustained, unpopularly long term effort. Why, the only way to accomplish this in a meaningful fashion is to find somebody (or a group) with such experience and fame that not many could question them, and then stage some sort of fake incident in which to strike zealotry into the hearts of those around this beacon of light, in that which the same effect has been achieved without damaging the cause beforehand.

Removal of new high level potions in PvP
I'm of the opinion that HP replenishment should really stick to food rather than potions, but seeing that recently they added those stone foods with the enhancers, I guess I can't really complain too much about cross-purposes. If they aren't adding the potion you're suggesting to PvP, many people will make use of summons or something else, though. PvM is all about cutting costs.
