  1. What, seriously? Whining does work. I mean, look what happened to extreme potions. In order to increase the chances of a successful whine, you have to be both extremely irritating in tandem, and more importantly, play into the flawed logic of their attitude, which means it's easier to make quick untested fixes to new features and then ignoring the situation entirely after that rather than to not do anything at all and look like you didn't try, or to actually look at it again within the next month or so and fix it properly. Heck, if they did the footwork and looked at the problem more critically, then made the changes with the additional foresight of actually including some concrete information rather than vague excuses about things being unbalanced and people being discouraged from PKing because of the theoretical possibility of a handful of people have both combat and herblore trained could be out there menacing the whole PK populace with their mighty seven additional levels of strength, while the other PKers are incapable of raising their own herblore levels or affording to do so because they only have their measly d claws or godswords and can't possibly pony up the money for herblore training. But moving back to the topic, I see that you have brought up one of my most favored but also most difficult plans to change things by uniting the people against wrongdoing to combat the ones who have united in order to perpetrate it. This will not likely happen until some unforgivable transgression has occurred, and by then it will be too late to actually fix the problem without a sustained, unpopularly long term effort. Why, the only way to accomplish this in a meaningful fashion is to find somebody (or a group) with such experience and fame that not many could question them, and then stage some sort of fake incident in which to strike zealotry into the hearts of those around this beacon of light, in that which the same effect has been achieved without damaging the cause beforehand.
  2. I'm of the opinion that HP replenishment should really stick to food rather than potions, but seeing that recently they added those stone foods with the enhancers, I guess I can't really complain too much about cross-purposes. If they aren't adding the potion you're suggesting to PvP, many people will make use of summons or something else, though. PvM is all about cutting costs.
  3. It will probably be about how Jagex took a jolly trip to the carnival. There will be pictures of them eating cake and laughing about the recent potion nerf.
  4. You know it's the internet when you can't tell if everybody's being serious, or if everybody's being sarcastic to each other at the same time with a straight face.
  5. Oh lord, I can't breathe from that last joke.
  6. Hm.... If PvPers are a fairly small minority (if the polls are to be believed).... Why don't we just get rid of it entirely? I mean, is it worth it to have an entire section of a game dedicated to a bunch of *bleep*? I mean, I like bashing in the other guy's head and him trying to do the same to me just as much as the next guy (who happens to be the same guy, go figure), but I don't think I want it to affect the entire game (namely, the game economy) if it's all going towards boosting some jerk's ego in a one-sided fight leaning towards the person who's done the least to deserve it. I hold some modicum of respect for the guy who beats me hands down in a fight that he's clearly prepared to destroy me in, despite his repeated insults, jeers, taunts, and vague racial/sexual slurs, but to the guy who cries because he's not winning because he hasn't actually put any real effort into trying should stick to playing single player games with massive lists of cheat codes.
  7. Reaction: WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- (I suppose we should have expected some sort of nerf sooner or later.) -HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- (They really could have just made them tradable and ruin a different aspect of their update, and people would still be happy.) -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- (Have people even considered the relevant data beyond the knee-jerk reaction? Have they tested how additionally effective the potions actually are compared to a super set in PvP?) -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT- (I could make similar arguments about how pures easily get away with masking their combat levels without ruining their effectiveness, or how other people who have trained different aspects of the combat triangle than me, or are equally hybrided in all three styles, have a significant advantage over other people of similar combat level, and that we should totally ban using different combat styles or pures from PvP if we were to take this all the way through.) -TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT- (Or in fact, that we actually let people compete at all when they should clearly not use strategy or anything to get ahead of each other in a game, and that we should all be level 99's because WE'RE SPECIAL.) -TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!1111111!!11 (God forbid that we have any sort of wealth accumulation or trading or leveling whatsoever in a MMORPG. We shouldn't even play, since we know that we're all leet on the inside, and that we should just get on with our lives knowing that we can do whatever we want without actually doing it.)
  8. I am now feeling kinda lucky that I bother to actually pick up some of the lower priced high grade herbs since they're actually useful now.
  9. Well, yeah, nobody really wants to spend a lot of money training or farming, and magic doesn't help there. The only way they'd get that done is if they forced you to use magic to hurt the creature, and that would be just sort of tacked on. Magic has its uses, though...
  10. Wait, you think OD is more of a PvM thing? Seriously? I mean, if you take a look at pures, they've sacrificed their entire playing style in order to be able to get a surprise big hit in to end the fight. Just think of how much more likely you are to score the fatal hit if you suddenly juice up and crank all your combat stats (aside from HP) by 26 points or so since it scales, then take the next swing. And since it won't actually affect you combat level, this pretty much plays into the hands of a pure with a lot of money to burn. Of course, if you're a true pure, you'd only need the strength pot, but now everybody else can get in on that. Besides, in PvM, you have plenty of time to down the whole x-set without the horrific consequences, plus you won't waste the magic and ranged pots.
  11. Yeah, I think high levels do deserve to have exclusive rights to certain equipment that they have to make themselves. Besides, when I was messing with PvP a while ago, some people called me out for using super sets, so frankly, if they're going to complain about x-sets or od (that's what we're calling them now, right? saying "extreme set" or "overdose" seems a bit too long for illiterate rs players), they can go *censored*. Anyway, does anybody else think that Overdose looks a bit....sinister? I mean, you would think that mixing five really strong potions together would create a pitch black substance, but it just sits there waiting for somebody to drink it so that it can own them. It's like supersteroids or something, zammy brew doesn't even come close.
  12. Well, this does sort of give an incentive to actually train it rather than buy the potions. People have been ranting about that for years. Plus, when you look at them, they're starting to near the point where it would be understandable for their trade to be illegal, as they would be on par with top shelf perscription medications. And if you don't care about these potions, then don't level up in herblore. :P --------------------- Have you ever considered how undervalued some potions and potion ingredients are? Grenwall spikes are worthless, avantoe is worthless, papayas are worthless, mud runes are worthless.... It's almost impossible for me to get anybody to buy super attack potions, but now, things are heating up, and hopefully this will make some of our lesser used items more important.
  13. Hah, you act as if nobody else does things without thinking about every single consequence. Seriously, who can foresee the effects of EVERYTHING they do? To attempt to say you were right about something these days is like saying you manage to predict a coin flip 50 percent of the time. Besides, I don't think a lot of people would say "take these back out of the game, I don't want to be godlike." .... You know what you could complain about? You could totally change tacks and say that Jagex is endorsing dangerous drug abuse.
  14. Heh. EXTREEM POTS. My other guess was EXTREEM COCKTAILS.
  15. Heh. Anybody try to use the lunar spell to share the new potions? If it works, it would make things a whole lot more interesting in the game. Course, the person would have to have both herby and magic trained, but hell, it's frightening thinking about an army of jacked up pjers.
  16. Heh, I had to deal with this too. In some ways, it was actually easier doing this than say, Dream Mentor. No prayer plus having to risk good armor in order to fight something that hits really high in a multicombat area? Ouch. I almost died in there at one point due to it hitting really high. XD Not that the same thing didn't almost happen in Summer's End either, but at least you can run all you want like a big sissy and it pays off; there is no actual confrontation and swinging of weapons! All you need are some quick reflexes. Thanks to energy update, you don't even have to worry too much about your run energy burning out. I gained some of my reflexes from prayer flashing with Vyrewatch (they hit pretty hard for the midlevel player so it helps). The rest is playing in WIDESCREEEEEN. When you see that shot headed your way, just book it. Since armor's almost useless in there, it's not like you have to risk anything important aside from say, a rune axe (you don't want to have to stand still that long). Plus, you can bank in between, if you are using something particularly valuable. Which I don't know why you would be anyway. Course, in the third room, it gets so fast that you have to actually anticipate the attack before it goes off, but you probably will get over the whole "I'M GONNA DIE ARAHGERHIAGBLE" thing by then. You seem to have almost the same stats as I do so this should be no problem once you let go of the fear of dying. I recommend frequent Stealing Creation matches for that. You will not care after so many rounds. On topic.....I'd say that I really just want to be able to finish all the quests, so that I don't have to feel like the game is holding me back from going where I want to. People may already take that for granted, but if you don't appreciate what you have, then you have nothing.
  17. Well, if you think about it, there aremany holy men and women NPCs in Gielinor, but apparently, none of them had to kill thousands of dragons or buy thousands of dragon bones with vast sums of money sot that they can bury them by hand repeatedly at gilded altars in a hole that must be miles deep by now, and yet somehow they still all manage to gain enough divine favor in order to wear spiffy outfits and live in the Prayer guild. WTH?
  18. I don't think drinking antifreeze would be a good decision. Anyway, I was wondering when they were going to get around to the old boss overhauls.
  19. TBH, kinda freaking out a bit. Wait, where's my avatar? Oh, there it is. Wait, this thing's editing live?
  20. Er, the only reason I don't like it is that crop plots don't have anything to do after watermelons, which are both expensive to get seeds for (even when not being merched) and suck really badly in profit (even if you do convert it to supercompost), and that even though they've made a farming amulet, it only watches crops which you can already hire farmers to take care of, and that you can't use it for herb patches, which can't be watched by farmers, dies pretty fast, and are the only thing worth planting to sell. The farming amulet is useless, and I have to scramble to each patch just to make sure my herbs don't die. It's sort of frustrating sometimes. And that patch on top of Trollheim takes a ridiculous walk through trolls to get to.
  21. If there is a person willing to kick a cabbage all the way across the map, there is likely to be several people that do the same thing to a penguin if there is a goal. Then again this whole game is filled with people who enjoy repetitive tasks. :D

  23. 99 fm folks have confirmed that there is still a chance of it going up in smoke (it is, after all, a mark of the RL times when firearms were unreliable yet deadly), but the chances of it are probably significantly lesser than a person who's just picked one up without doing anything above 20 fm. Edit: Er, 61. :P
  24. Offtopic.....I do wish that they'd make the next "history" quest soon; time travelling is fun! Ontopic.....Dang it, the first Q&A that gives straight answers and now I'm hankering to hear about other topics that aren't necessarily offlimits and this won't happen again for ages.... I was sort of wondering if I could combine a fish hat with a penguin mask.
  25. Could be better training for other things in the future.....plus we haven't seen any updates to smithing in a while. Also, they could unlock higher grade cannonballs. Although that might be a little overkill, unless they make them really disappointing. (They would, however, be pretty expensive.) Also, a dragon warhammer doesn't exist yet. From what it looks like, the gnome and dwarf quests are about to merge, so from that perspective, the rewards could turn out to be entirely different from what we should be expecting. Just be grateful that they already gave up the mining and pick rewards instead of making you wait a year or so to get to the last quest to get them. And the area that you get the new gear in seems fairly dangerous so it's not like anybody can just stroll in unprepared (aside from the area being so overcrowded right now that it doesn't matter).
