Graphical Updates: Good or Pointless?
What, seriously? I think the ogres had quite an improvement. Have you been to Jiggig lately? Somebody decided to make the zogres revert to predeath behavior patterns, and they seem to be having an endless rave with bongos. Granted, they take a while to die now, but the fact that they keep dancing, even in their death throes, is an endless source of amusement. (The belly shields make me wonder how I can still be ranging them effectively. Lol.) The leprechauns may take some getting used to, but you better learn to live with it because the same artist is also remaking the faeries, I believe.

Jagex C.E.O MMG Interview: Part 3 of 3
Well, I'm glad that we even got this much out of them. The wait is killer though.

Jagex MMG interview part 2 of 3, talking RuneScape
Hm. Perhaps I am presuming much, but maybe somewhere along the line they figured that these fixes were long overdue and decided to dedicate themselves to repairing various parts that needed attention. People will complain about the sun being there until it is gone, and then they start to worry about it not coming back. But the sun does not care either way, and the earth continues to turn as it must. And to be clear, it is very hard to have it both ways. If you can't justify paying for members, you can just simply wait until the content flow comes back. Go read a book or ten. In the meanwhile, they've got this big update in the pipe and they figured that if they manage to pull it off, people would write off the previous months of dry spell as nothing. Perhaps they are relying too much on this. Only time will tell. Either way, I'd rather have a solid game that works than one with tons of stuff that I can't enjoy without all these various annoyances getting in the way. --------------- I think the new skill may have to do with "mobilizing armies", as it appears to be a turn based or real time stratey game which is somewhat different than most mmos, the development has been delayed so much that they've had enough time to revamp it into an entirely different activity, and the return of Zaros comes ever closer, meaning our pitiful guards could use some whipping into shape to be put into active duty. Once again, pure speculation.

No more freeloading in Fishing Trawler
Well, even if there is a way to stop the inactivity meter without actually performing an action, it still means that they will have to click something in order to prevent getting booted, and why would you work so hard not to work when you could just do something useful instead? At that point it wouldn't be AFK because of the clicking, and if you're really that dedicated to not helping, that just makes you some sort of social pariah.

Losing motivation from runescape, then finding a new source?
Well, I think the new quest added an area that is ripe for some future expansion. They still gotta clean up the other things they left behind though.....we still can't get into the main elven city, the Red Axe folk are still loose and are close to an invasion force, and when's the last time anybody said anything about the mysterious sealed door in the elemental workshop? Plus the Morytania storyline is pretty close to finishing up and that's still hanging.

Jagex Twitter Update: Jagex CEO interview Part 1 of 3
Oh, there was a lot of apprehension, but it was drowned out by the hopefulness. I think coming off as a friendly, approachable guy goes a long way towards getting people to cooperate. (An Obama figure, if you will.) I wonder if the reason why it's taking so long this time is not because of schedule and technical pile-ups, but because they're planning something entirely different than what we're used to?.... Anyway, I hope that they can prove that their "leading edge technology" can actually deliver on solid gameplay rather than just looking sort of like a game. No offense, but more clicks doesn't really mean better game.

Macroers getting rebanned
Not even a chaos elemental hat? *imagines a poofy thing with tentacles sitting atop a person's head* Whenever you squeeze it, it would make a backwards squeaking noise.

Losing motivation from runescape, then finding a new source?
I think minigames might be nice to try if you aren't really into grinding. As long as you don't play boring stuff (vinesweeper, mage training arena), they're actually pretty fun and you can drag some of your buddies into it.
-
Macroers getting rebanned
.... You know when you've gotten off for a ban you know that you don't really deserve, the decision might be reversed at any time. Granted, they've really been flaky as of late about what's right or wrong (which may be a consequence of development or new management), but things don't change overnight. Regardless of the situation, you should know that in their big ol' legal agreement document, it says that if you've violated the terms of the agreement, they can take away your account and not refund the membership.

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
HOLY CRAP OVERLOAD TL;DR I was hoping to get a bunch of replies questioning my "warped sense of logic" but now I'm glad everybody went for the easier target because there is no way I'm spending that much time scrolling at low speed. Then again, I can't really complain, because I'm gearing up to drop a fresh load of bull on this already steaming pile of [redacted]. (For FUN.) But srsly...let's go by what we can observe and leave the speculation to fortune-tellers and RSOF. High levels already have full access to most of the dungeons and bosses.....which were made SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU. Most of the people directly profiting from GWD or d claw drops are high level (I said most, not all). Coupled with the fact that high level combat is pretty much the only steady money maker that keeps you ahead of the "noob money curve", you pretty much own everything of worth in the mid to endgame. More importantly, it's this high level elitism that keeps any equipment that is even close to being good at stupidly high prices that only high level people can obtain because either A) they're the only ones can afford it because B) they're the only ones who have access to the drops, which gets them either more money, or the drops. Now, let's see what happens when a seriously high level drop is put into the game. First off, it'll probably be a seriously expensive item. It'll only be of use to high level players, and it'll give them a large advantage over other players until they too have the item. At this point you'll complain that it's boring and you'll want something new. What happens when you put a more accessible item instead? Pretty much the same thing, except - More people will have it and use it - More people can afford it due to commonness - More people will be trying to get it - The item will be less unique and beautiful and you will not be a pretty snowflake for owning one - If you have it people will think you're a noob Now, these may sound bad, but in reality it's much better off this way. Why? For one, more people will be able to enjoy the item, provided that they don't let status get in the way. This is certainly the case for many; who cares if everybody has rune or a d scimmy or a whip? That doesn't seem to deter the masses that you look down upon so frequently. I myself enjoyed having all of those at various points of my gameplay and I wouldn't have given up any of it knowing that it wasn't the best or rarest. So, about the people camping the spawns...let's look at this honestly. People will camp there anyway regardless of level limit if the item is good. Look at all the other high level spots being camped. If the item is good enough that people will want to level to get there, there will be more competition eventually, plus the prestige you normally would have would be utterly destroyed were this to happen. (Plus, the higher the level, the more likely that people will feel entitled to the spawns and will fight aggressively for the right. I mean, let's face it, look at how defensive all of these high level posters are getting, including YOU, because you don't want lower levels clogging your spot.) Is this really what it's all about? Not having more high level content? What would you do with it that would not be better served by also letting somebody else who pays as much as you do but doesn't have the same amount of time to spend on the game? Would you deny them enjoyment because it would mean less for you? Why would it be less fun for you? What if everybody were high leveled? You wouldn't have exclusive rights anymore. You would not be special, and you could be a downright official noob. Heck, the word 'noob' would mean even less now than it already does. People spend so much time trying not to be one even though the concept holds no power over the ones having fun....many (if not all) of which are downright noobish because they don't care what you non-noobs think. Why do you think there is such a gap between those who are below and those who are above? By clinging to this attitude that you should have it at the expense of somebody else, you perpetuate these high prices and therefore make it hard for the majority of people to get there, therefore denying yourselves content for high levels because the game creators see that the part of the community that needs it the most are not the people who are already at the top of their game, but the larger group of struggling mid levels who can't push through to your status because of this self imposed price barrier. But enough of this. I'm speculating again, plus I'm a raving ideological misguided fool. Really though, there should be more high level content, but who are you going to convince when so many are not there? Not the fawning attempted crowd-pleasing Jagex.

Tip.It Times: 24 May 2009
When you think about it, the whole of Runescape almost entirely relies on pointless, repetitive actions. The same could be said of pretty much most RPGs out there. Of course, it's not necessarily a bad thing, but when the day a game comes where you are free to enjoy an endless assortment of entertainment (and not just repeated iterations of the same concept) that gives you a sense of accomplishment, all MMOs (and probably all human productivity) will cease to exist. Anyway, I wonder what's on TV....

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
Lol. If it's not that good people will probably stop camping within a week anyway. I mean, why would they want to be there when it would label you an inferior low level peasant? If we go by this logic, technically we shouldn't make ANY lower level content than say, 80. Otherwise it's just a waste of the game. A level 78 slayer monster? That's just HORRIBLE. I mean, just look at those chickens and cows. Those things are a crime against nature. Level 78? That's like, mocking the gods to come so close to something you could use but can't because you're above that level. I bet just touching it would take away a few of your levels. Heck, maybe we should just remove all the content below level 80. It's useless, right? Forget everybody below that level. They should all just leave because nobody cares. Let the game be enjoyed only by the high level people, because they started the game at a high level and were never low leveled before that point. And if they DID start off at, heaven forbid, level 3, they wouldn't need anything at all before level 80 because they would have the cognitive abilities of pond scum. I mean, do you use anything below level 80 requirements anymore? I bet you'd rather go nude than have to bother wearing anything lower leveled than that. In conclusion, we have to nuke Lumbridge in a pre-emptive strike before more low level people come in and ruin the game for everybody.

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
I gotta say, I'll just wait for it to happen first. I just wonder if they'll require any kind of specific slaying equipment. Like a harpoon? That'd be sort of funny. You know, creatures like that stay in the water to lure prey in, so you'd have to go up to the shore of the pool and drag them back out.... Anyway, hopefully the equipment will have some sort of use rather than being another joke.

19th May 2009 - Missing my Mummy
No, silly. Amascut is the Devourer. Y'know, crazy red irises, wants everything to die? Most call her Sumona?....

19th May 2009 - Missing my Mummy
The quest was pretty fun, although I was slightly annoyed at all the various things I had to get that I didn't know about until I got to the actual burial site (if you need papyrus, buy one from Morrisane while you're trying to guile the name scrolls from him), plus I found out the hard way that there's a cave filled to the brim with hungry, hungry scarabs in a multicombat area. Not too bad, but major freak out moment. I wonder if you can put a cannon in there?... I think the highest point of the quest was when I got to the second floor (having bashed the guard's face in with an ancient mace), and after fending off the annoying fairly large bugs, seeing the huge floor trap between me and the tomb. I was all "#$@%, not this Indiana Jones $@*& again!" After a minute of hesitation (you all saw what was under the floor in The Last Crusade, right?), I stepped out onto the area, and then realized it was a safe puzzle. Up until the point where I got hit for 15 damage. After that I figured out the system pretty easily. Anyway, I keep wondering what the heck that dais on the right side of the entrance is for. The walls have the red mark on the minimap, so they certainly serve some purpose, and the dais itself comes with the description that says it's for displaying something. But what?.... Obviously, the tomb is from before Zaros was banished from the mortal plane. The pharaoh queen's son's name sounds similar to Osman. It'll be interesting to delve deeper when the queen finally gets around to giving out the next task. I want to get those crazy desert gods off my back. I'll admit that Amascut makes a funny slayer master, though. Is any of the information of use to the Varrock museum?

ComicScape
All of these comics were horrible (mine included) until you figure out that they're all absurdist. That being said, comics are apparently srs business with yall.

Tip.It Times: 17 May 2009
Eh, let's just forget this edition ever happened. Frankly if you want some order around here, you have to make it yourself, and apparently nobody, not even the people who run the game, can help you.

14th May 2009 - Development Diary: Fairy Area Improvement
Well, it is going to be the last in the series, so it's probably mid to high level requirements. I look forward to cooking on a small stove. "Tiny pies for EVERYBODY!" *cheers*

ComicScape
Ah, the classic "going too far" gag. A Cyanide and Happiness favorite! As for that other comic with the sailing skill, you could probably make it funny if you took all the other RS skills and put them in the same context.

Chart comparing old and new RuneScape rules
Oh, so that's why people spend so much time at the bandits with god symbols on to piss them off. Remove all references to alcohol in the game? That would remove roughly a tenth of the game if you think really hard about it.

Jagex Taking Twitter Questions
It'd be nice if somebody could filter all the useful info out of that information landfill they call "networking".

Advertisement Blocking
Well.....I wish they'd just stick to normal GIFs and stuff like that. Not that it matters to me since I'm not F2P, but I recalled several occasions when flash ads made me lag a bit when they refreshed. Not the best timing in some situations. Speaking of annoying ads, has anybody noticed rs gold selling ads again lately?

What happened to Torstol?
I think they stopped caring ages ago.

What happened to Torstol?
Well, you can't really expect anybody to respect the natural order after so many people got away with the PvP glitch.

Annoying players in Bounty Hunter
The alternative is to take off your stuff, rush full-on into the ambush without risking anything, then find a group of bored people hanging around doing nothing at the appropriate levels (which you found out from the suicide run) near the edge and tell them that there's a bunch of camping idiots who would not be able to defend themselves if another larger group flanked them from behind, preferrably with ice barrage. Die with honor, win without it, I always said.
